I was craving a powdered donut in Lockport yesterday, but Dunkin' Donuts didn't have any. Today was rainy, and we had things to do near Tonawanda so I insisted we come here. The line was long, but it moved quickly. Service was fast and friendly, and the donuts were as good as the ones we tried at the other location. None of the donuts were dry, and the angel cream is lighter and fluffier than Dunkin' Donuts. Plus they are much more generous with the filling. Excellent cream to donut ratio. I don't indulge in donuts very often, but I'm very much a "go large or go home" type of person if I do. I don't mind the price because I'm satisfied after one donut. read more

I just tried Paula's donuts and I was quite happy with them. I had read many reviews, looked at the pictures multiple times and studied the menu a bit before going so I could strategically chose donuts I would be happy with. I had a good number of donuts: -plain: I am typically a fan of plain/apple cider donuts. The flavors were pretty good but it was dry and felt more like a day-old plain donut. -headlight: I am not a fan of these types of cream fillings so from the pictures I knew it would not be one of my favorites to begin with. Since the angel cream seemed to be a Paula's donuts "thing" I wanted to try it anyway to see what the fuss was about. 'Twas as expected, too sweet & not my thing. -powdered chocolate angel cream: same comment as the headlight donut. I am just not a fan of this type of cream filling. -powdered bavarian: good as expected. Good size and good amount of filling. -chocolate frosted bavarian: as expected. -cinnamon glazed: I was not planning on getting this donut when I walked in since I am not a fan of glazed nor cinnamon-flavored baked goods but it looked so golden and fluffy in the store that it called to me. Upon biting into it it was quite fluffy and I was very happy it was not very cinnamon-y at all (but this may be a downside if you're looking for cinnamon bun type flavor). -cheese donut: the description described it as having the same filling found in a cheese danish. Upon splitting it in half I found this to be a lot less thick than danish filling and more like the consistency of bavarian/boston cream and was disappointed because although I love bavarian/boston creme, I was eagerly looking forward to the cheese danish flavor which actually ended up being there :) I appreciated that the filling wasn't as thick as cheese danish but had the same flavor. I would be willing to say that Paula's is easily the best doughnut place in Buffalo. There are a no shortage of excellent doughnut choices in their offerings. They have both more tradition offerings (plain, glazed, etc) and more modern choices (key lime, red velvet, and more). This is an excellent place to stop in for a morning sugar bomb, just keep in mind their doughnuts are so good that there is often a line clear out the door, so it may take a while to get your treats. I wouldn't normally make a recommendation at this point for what menu items you should eat, but honestly Paula's is a Buffalo staple and a legendary spot for a reason.. These are some pretty tasty donuts! Definitely can see why this business is so beloved and popular. I would call the style of donuts here mainly "old school" not too much in the way of "trendy" flavors, but a very good variety of tried and true standards. And they are quite huge! My favorite? Yummy doughnuts and is a Buffalo staple. We came in the morning on a Sunday so we had to wait in line but it moved fast. Service was good and they kept the line moving. We decided on a dozen so we had a good selection and my family spilt everything. I liked everything I tried so there isn't really a wrong doughnut to order. All of their doughnuts are pretty standard and are what you would except at a doughnut shop; nothing out of the ordinary or unique. Came in from out of town and had this place recommended. I've heard wonderful things so made a half hour detour to come here. I walked in and a customer was finishing.l at the register. Cashier saw me and didn't say a thing. Three employees were around. Not one acknowledged me. Another customer came in behind me. He was helped as I'm standing at the counter. The employee who helped him makes eye contact with me and still doesn't say a word. I left without ever being helped or acknowledged despite asking to order. Believe the hype, these donuts are fantastic! Every time I am in buffalo I make sure to stop by to grab some for my team. The donut holes are great for a crowd, and I absolutely love their sour cream and jelly donuts! I usually stop by in the morning around 7am on a weekday and need to keep about 15 minutes in case of a line. When ever anyone visits this a must ! The donuts are always full of filling! One is more than enough to fill you up. I haven't had a kind I didn't like yet. My favorites would include peanut sticks, which is a cinnamon donut stick, sugar glaze rolled in peanuts. The headlight is also another fave. It's a vanilla cream donut with the filling on top rather than the inside . They do not skimp on fillings, just holding the donut you can feel how heavy it is . Paula's Donuts, a place I have frequented quite often, and I know they are so tasty yet not great for you in the waistline. I have never had a bad experience here, even when the line is out the door everything moves swiftly, your order is taken, and you are headed home to enjoy your tasty treats! The donuts are delicious, we usually stick to our normal choices such as the strawberry shortcake which is a delicious combination of strawberry filling, and cream in a powdered sugar heaven. We also enjoy the red velvet donuts, which are extremely addicting, and even after being a day or so old a quick throw into the microwave and they are good as new. My wife is a huge fan of any kind of angel cream, and man can they pack a lot of cream into their donuts! We were getting a dozen, but thanks to the check-in on Yelp we were able to get two additional donuts which made for a nice snack while saving the dozen for our family gathering.
