Went here for a smog check and it was like most people said. I was in and out in 15 min. Tim was really nice and friendly-even showed me how to change out the batt for my car alarm, which wasn't working properly at the time. The price was affordable and they offer a free retest within 30 days if you fail. Most places charge at least $20 for a retest. I had my daughter with me and he noticed she was having a hard time doing her homework on her lap so he got her a clipboard. I appreciated the small the gesture. This place deserves more than 5 stars! Everyone hates when they open their mail box only to find the envelope with the DMV logo... dun dun dun! It's that time of the year when you have to get a smog check and pay the renewal fees for your car. My renewal is due in June so I told myself that I wouldn't procrastinate in case my car failed the smog test. So I confided in Yelpers and searched for the nearest smog test center. Paul's Smog check has the best reviews, so I gave them a try. If you're having trouble finding the place because it's located in an indultrial-type street, then just look for the 24-hour fitness across the street. The moment you see their logo, you know you're in the right place. Go inside a driveway, and you're going to see a small sign that says 'Smog Check,' and you're there. It's a small place, so they only have room for one car test at a time. The guys there are so nice. The first thing they did was greet me and ask what I needed. Told them I had to get a smog check and handed the form. The moment the 'check engine' light shows on your dashboard, you know for a fact that your test will fail. But when I was young, I was too naive to know those things, so when I used to take my first car for a test, it would always fail the test. So it was nice of these guys to ask if any indicators were on before bothering to check the car.. They're not here to rip you off! I was out of there in 20 minutes. The guys were so nice, always answering my questions and making small chat. They made me feel welcomed. I was happy when they told me that I passed the test and was ready to go! $48, Visa accepted, signature, paperwork, great nice guys, and on my way home! They were courteous, fast, simple, and reasonable. $48 out the door and in less than 45 minutes, even with two other customers ahead of me. Awesome! It is a little goofy to find - fortunately IKEA and the 24 hour fitness are great landmarks. The first driveway is directly opposite the 24 hour Fitness, and Paul's roll up door is on the left about halfway down the set of buildings. They asked me whether or not the check engine light was on (no) or any service done to the battery, alternator, or sensors in the last 7 days. (no) Evidently those can affect the dynamometer readings and give a false fail, so it's nice to know they were looking out for me. The actual test took only about 10 minutes - the rest was the certificate and credit card slip. After reading horror stories of other smog places online, I'm very happy I listened to the Yelp reviewers about Paul's. I'm adding my vote of confidence to the list! read more

saying bad words while trying to work with my car, the guy slammed my gas door, accused me of "removing the battery to remove the check engine light" before the test. didn't bother to ask me if the battery was removed. just straight out accused me without question. i calmly and nicely said that the car was sitting for more than 3 months, battery was dead so i took it to autozone to get it charged and then took the car straight to his spot because the car was working fine. i didn't know my car had an idle problem until i took it to get it smogged. how am i supposed to know removing the battery removes check engine lights? i did what he asked and took the car to a shop to get it checked and fixed. paid the shop to fix it and brought it back. took it back to smog and then he didnt want to smog it. i was trying to tell him what shop i took it to. i had to leave my car for 2 days to get it fixed before taking it back for smog. told me to drive it for 100 miles before coming back which i did as well. the second time he said i should drive it another 100 miles for a total of 200 miles. i kept it cool and just said we'll go back to the shop where we took it and we'll drive another 100 miles. mainly wasted my time going to the dmv for the "one day driving permit", driving 100 miles, trying to find time to get it smogged, wasted 40 dollars.... felt very unprofessional at this place..... no smile, saying bad words, slammed my gas door, tossed that gas analyzer peice to the ground after pulling it out my tail pipe. i was just sitting on the side for my car to get finished.... i just wanted my car done. the price doesnt even matter. even if the cost to repair the problem is expensive. he didn't let me retest when i took it back....terrible. took it to another place and the guy did everything by the book "litterally". he opened it and read it to make sure everything under my hood is the way it should be. passed no problem. ive been going to this place for 14 years now. don't think ill go back.... read more

2 years later, still great service and great prices. Steve and George are as nice as ever. We showed up 20 minutes to closing on a Wednesday and took them roughly 10 minutes to finish the smog and get the certification. Total cost was under $50 which is cheaper than most smog check stations. Still highly recommend them! read more

Zero customer service skills and does not know how to run the machine. He ran my car under "standard" so my car failed since it's an automatic so the Rpms and all that good stuff where off. Not being native to California, I didn't know the slightest thing about the DMV required smog check on vehicles 6 years and older. In early July of this year, I was notified by the DMV that my 2005 Altima had to have a smog check in order to fulfill state registration requirements. I asked coworkers for recommendations and searched on yelp. It was through yelp that I found Paul's Smog Check & Test Only facility and the rave reviews. And boy am I glad I found it! The reviews of this establishment are no lie. Paul and George were very polite, professional, informative and helpful throughout the entire process. They definitely put my mind at ease and made this experience a positive one. I have been going to this Smog Shop for years...I recommend it to all my friends. My entire family uses Paul's Smog. My sister heads to Ikea, across the street, while her car is being done. They do a great job! I didn't pass last week and when I brought my car in yesterday, after being repaired, Steve asked me if I had any lights, Check Engine Lights on, How much driving I had been doing (apparently you need to drive a car for awhile after the sensor light is reset...who know?) I had a car that failed smog because it had work done to it and the onboard system check needed to be reset (by driving it a bit and recycling it). It had failed the smog check a few days ago because of this and I was afraid it might fail again. The last place I had it checked was a "no pass, no pay" place and I wasn't charged a cent. I called Paul to ask if he was a "no pass, no pay" place and he told me there weren't any in California (actually they are all over Fontana which is where I'm from). He started almost screaming at me on the phone and was incredibly rude, he wouldn't let me get a single word in. I couldn't believe such a person would be running a business and treat potential customers this way. Ok so you run a place that doesn't do what I asked about, that's no reason to get angry at me, sheesh what a jerk. read more
