I was a member at Pause Studio West Hollywood for several months and had a deeply frustrating experience that ultimately led me to walk away. When I purchased a Vitashot package, I was told verbally by front desk staff on multiple occasions that my complimentary monthly membership shot would always be used first before deducting from my package. That never happened. Every shot after my package purchase was deducted from my paid package across three membership cycles while my complimentary shots went unused. When I raised this in writing, I was given an audit that actually confirmed the problem rather than resolving it. I escalated to request GM involvement, called the location twice, was redirected to the Venice location, and never received a callback. Two weeks later, still no resolution. The staff are pleasant and the facilities are lovely but the billing practices and customer service at the assistant manager level are a serious problem. If you purchase a package here, document everything in writing and verify every transaction carefully. read more

My husband are were long term customers of Pause WeHo for over 3 years. Each spending roughly $300-600 per month on their membership plan + additional services monthly. That's roughly $8000-10000 per year. During the last 1-2 years things started to change drastically. The Cryotherapy machine that we were paying an unlimited monthly subscription for monthly, was constantly unavailable. Why? We were told they could not keep up with the demand. Meaning we were paying for a service that was not available A LOT of the time. On top of that, after we worked up to the professional level setting (coldest temp) for the cryo machine, they removed that option to save on nitrogen - and this is a "luxury" wellness center. We later found out from several employees that employees were allowed to use all the machines and services WHENEVER they wanted. Every day. All week. MAYBE (just maybe!) THAT'S WHY PAYING CUSTOMERS COULD NOT USE THEIR SERVICES. You're probably thinking "oh well you must've gotten some type of credit or partial refund for those days where you were paying for a service that was unavailable" ...nope absolutely not. Once in a while we were given the opportunity to use a totally different service like the cold plung or sauna which we really had no interest in using, but other than that it was basically a "just deal with that situation." The best part was that if we ever had to cancel last minute for any kind of emergency or something came up or we couldn't make it we were usually given grace by the employees and they would just cancel our appointment no cancellation fee...suddenly around the last three months of our membership, one of the employees decided that "today is the day we're going to all of a sudden start charging them a cancellation fee!" which absolutely made no sense, especially considering that we never got any type of refund or credit on the days where the services were unavailable. We were told my multiple employees over the years that "we never charge cancel fees for monthly subscription clients". When we would bring up our issues to the Manager Will we'd usually get a copy and paste of their terms and conditions. We finally had enough and contacted someone above Will named Shantira - we asked for a substantial refund, and also REMINDED her that we were sexually harassed by a former employee of theirs and told her that no one from management ever reached out to us about it. They said they knew of the situation. That's all. No one else ever reached out. Not even the owners. We were told we'd get back just a month refund and she refused to give me the owners email addresses. I'm sure the owners Jeff Ono and John Klein would not want to lose loyal customers like my husband and myself if they knew about the gravity of the situation and the issues and disrespect we had been dealing with. There are PLENTY of other wellness spas in WeHo / LA for a fraction of the cost that pause dares to charge for subpar service. Switched to a different package and I cancelled my appointment because I had a health flare up unfortunately. I have credits that I pay for... so naturally the credit should be used... the person named Coco at the front desk charges my card the full retail price, illegally. I told them to reverse it and I have made complaints. We have been coming here for years and have spent nearly $10K on services. Been to PAUSE (West Hollywood) a few times now for their contrast therapy (sauna/cold plunge) and float tank! I'm not sure if it's the ability to go off the grid for an hour, the effects of the cold plunge (just do it and make sure to go all the way under!), or the Le Labo private shower products that has me feeling REBORN after my session, but PAUSE might just be the right wellness center for you. I haven't tried all of their services quite yet, because I have been doing contrast (sauna/cold plunge) ON REPEAT, but excited to try their cryo, red light therapy, and maybe even some of their IVs. Their staff is also super kind, cute, and friendly. I know it sounds scary, but try also make sure to check out the float tank for one visit! Will (Pause) helped ease me into the experience by explaining how to get in, and also gave me some key pointers/tips: (wear ear plugs, use the heads-rest, and try arms above the head*), to enhance the stillness of the zero gravity experience. And let me tell you: I felt like I was in bliss for a lifetime. I'm not sure where I went, but it wasn't until I was gently woken up by the room's voice, did I realize how content I was - floating in darkness! I tried out Pause in West Hollywood recently, utilizing their space for their contrast therapy offering and came away pretty satisfied with what I paid for. (It's important to note that they offer 30% off your first service, but the rest will be at the going price). Pause West Hollywood is located in a section of West Hollywood that's seen some decently redevelopment recently with both Heimat, Mother Tongue and Mr. T's in the area. They do offer validated parking, but please note that those spots are small and more often than not the garage only allows for valet parking in the evenings, but if you're patient you should be able to find street parking around the area. The studio space itself has a modern aesthetic with brushed concrete floors, light wood paneling and dark mood lighting. They offer an extensive menu of services from float therapy, vitamin shots to contrast therapy. I chose the latter. You're assigned your own private sauna room which has a cold plunge and a shower equipped with Le Labo amenities. I chose the 30 minute session which gave me about three full rotations, but if you want more definitely go with an hour. The cold plunge was rated at 50 degrees and the infrared sauna at about 100 degrees, according to the display. If you're a person of size, the cold plunge might not fit your entire body, but the sauna was definitely big enough for two. My one complaint with the sauna was it wasn't hot enough or at least to my taste so I felt like I was really able to work up a sweat. However, the after effects of the contrast therapy was definitely pleasant. I think Pause, as a stand alone service offers a lot for market value, but if you're a member of a fancier gym, this might be an extra cost that you don't need to pay. Starting my review by saying I had reached out to management and they were very responsive and through in explaining cleaning protocols and procedures. I appreciate the communication greatly! Pause is a beautiful facility with great amenities. However, my float experience was not what I would have hoped for. The smell inside my tank was so overwhelming and completely took me out of the experience. My husband floated in the room next door and he didn't experience such a smell. All of my senses were deprived but smell, which is not a problem you think you would have during a float. I have floated dozens of times before in other facilities and never had this issue. Floating experience was 3 stars. Rounding up for excellent communication from management who said I must just have a sensitivity to the cleaning chemicals and offered a discount on future services. My partner and I are experienced floaters and decided to try a new floating clinic. This was a mistake - to anybody reading, go straight to Quantum Clinic in Frogtown and don't ever look back. We saw Pause had good reviews, so why not give it a shot? Well, I'll tell you why - 1. It's typical to have 6-7 minutes to rinse off before your session begins. However, staff chose to show us around after beginning the timer, which gave us maybe 2 minutes at most to rinse off before our session formally started. This gave me extreme stress and anxiety - the exact feeling you want when going into a float (said sarcastically). 2. The sensory deprivation tank we were led to had a lid that did not even come close to closing all the way, thus letting in a freezing cold draft for the entire 5 minutes that I could stand being in that tank before walking out. 3. The woman at the front desk was lovely - she gave us our money back, was very nice about it, and even offered me a complimentary infrared sauna session, telling me that the manager would be emailing me soon. Weeks went by without me hearing from the manager, so I went ahead and emailed him. He took back the complimentary infrared sauna session, then had the audacity to offer me 15% - FIFTEEN PERCENT - off an infrared session. 4. The tea and cookies were nice, as was the front desk woman. Those are the only positive things I can think to say. PS. I just happened to go through some of their FAQs, and in response to an inquiry about whether or not you can float while menstruating, Pause had the nerve to (not even so gently) discourage women to float until after their period ends. This feels incredibly archaic and misogynistic and I am willing to bet my life savings was written by a man. Of course you can float while on your period, I have done it several times, and floated just like a regular person (read: man) would. read more

I received a gift card from a friend for my birthday. I came in today to receive several treatments. First of all when booking online it does not say anywhere within the booking flow that gift cards are only able to be used at the purchase location. Second, when you go to the purchase screen of gift cards on your website it also does not disclose that gift cards are only usable in each location. In fact the only place it says that is in the FAQ section of the site. Furthermore I called to ask if there was anything I needed to know since I am a new and first time customer. I asked for context on my treatments and even had them move some around. When I checked in no one said anything about things I should know as a new customer. I was very excited to try pause as a new customer. I was looking forward to considering repeat visits as I live walking distance from this location. But the inflexibility with this policy and the lack of communication about what new customers should be aware of is astounding. I can't possibly be the first person to experience this and to wait until AFTER I received my services to notify me is unacceptable practice. I can understand the corporate policy, but the lack of making the policy visible and notable for customers, especially new ones is a really bad way to recruit new clients. You can literally float around in it + The foam headrest (or even putting your palms behind your head) while floating a huge help + Studio is absolutely beautiful + Room is very large with the pod, shower, and changing area I found the experience to be really cool but not as relaxing as I imagined (perhaps bc it was my first time?) but I have no regrets about trying it. I had a great time visiting Pause. Signing up for an infrared sauna appointment was super easy via the website. You input your card information and aren't charged until your session is complete. I really appreciated the text reminders and even the ability to text a staff member with any questions prior to my session. I was greeted nicely upon arrival although for a wellness studio, I would have thought the staff would be a bit more cheerful, but then again it's WEHO and you can often get pretentious vibes in that area. Nevertheless, the staff member who showed me to my room was super explanatory and sent me on my private merry way. The sauna room is aesthetically pleasing with the sauna and shower for showering before and/or after your session. I'm personally a huge fan of saunas so the session itself was super great and beneficial for me. I loved it. In terms of parking, there is either free parking on the street if you're lucky to find any or a parking structure next door which the studio will validate for you, however it gets pretty crammed in there due to monthly parking spots taking up most of the spaces. All in all, a great experience and possibly worth a package/membership if you don't have access to a sauna at your local gym and are after a more upscale and private experience. read more

I initially checked out Pause Studio because a friend gave me a gift card and recommended it. However, every time I've visited, I've never felt truly welcomed by the front desk staff, which is disappointing because first impressions matter. Today, I stopped in for a quick shot and used the remainder of my gift card, planning to pay the balance with Apple Pay. When I mentioned it was my first time getting a shot there, the staff member informed me that their system required a physical card. While I understand that some businesses have specific payment policies, most places accept Apple Pay, and I had even seen reviews on Yelp that suggested they did. It was frustrating to be caught off guard, especially when the staff member simply stated that I needed to pay the balance without offering any solutions or assistance. Fortunately, I was able to use my Apple Card because it displays the CVV, but it would have been helpful to know this requirement in advance. I also had a picture of my debit card in Apple Pay but didn't have the CVV handy. It would be much more considerate if Pause Studio clearly communicated their payment policies ahead of time whether in appointment confirmations, on their website, or at the front desk. No one wants to be put in a situation where they feel embarrassed or like they're being treated as if they can't pay, simply because they weren't given the right information beforehand. I have been to the pause in El Segundo and this one does not nearly compare. The entire breathwork meditation machine for the cold plunge did not work and they did not tell us beforehand. When we brought it up to them, they didn't say anything about it or offer a discount- they simply said sorry about it. It doesn't work. There is also supposed to be a Bluetooth in the room so you can listen to music since we had it for an entire hour, but there was not. They also did not disclose this beforehand and the other location had it. It was our first time so it would've been nice to learn how to do the cold plunge, which is why we came to this spot versus another company. So for that key selling point to not even be working was pretty disappointing. Overall I wish the service was better and they gave us a discount for their systems being down and not having the experience that we paid $135 for. read more

Fraud Alert: UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE I received a promo code that was 100% off most services. I used this promo code at checkout online and it indeed applied for 100% off. After my session, with no one at the front desk and without a balance, I left because I had a flight to catch. Shortly after I received a text from the studio telling me the code wasn't valid because it had already been applied. I explained in the text I wasn't aware the code was invalid as it applied and no one had mentioned this to me prior to my appointment. They demanded to know where I got the code from, which I declined because I didn't want to get anyone else involved or in trouble for Pauses miscommunication. They said in the text they understood and was "glad to see I was able to enjoy a free session on us." I apologized for the misunderstanding and boarded my flight. Flash forward to today, went to make a payment on my credit and discovered they took it upon themselves to charge my card for the service, completely unauthorized and unethical. So I called and spoke with the manager, Justin, who didn't seem to care about the legality of making unauthorized charges and insisted that it was my fault their code allowed me to book the session at 100% off. Needless to say I won't be going back, and I wouldn't recommend them either. First World Problem Review: I've been to Pause three times now (once in Venice, twice in West Hollywood) all for floating, but this third experience was not what I am accustomed to when it comes to total relaxation. Since I was actually going to be early, I called to see if this was okay or if they had to take me at my exact appointment time. No one ever answered, but they did have the option of texting, where they would get back to you in a timely matter. Never received a reply from here either, but I still made it with a few minutes to spare. There was a guy in front of me as I checked in, and I was hoping to go right back since I'm familiar with the process, but I had to wait. However, the stranger and I were taken back together which I found odd since I didn't come in with him, but I guess it was to save time? I was in the same room as last time (3). What frustrated me about this is that the music function did not work. I usually like to start off with this, until I eventually shut everything down, but this had a terrible habit of playing for about 40 seconds, then shutting off abruptly, then re-starting. I made sure it wasn't just me but after playing this about five times, I couldn't tolerate the glitching anymore. Floating in silence isn't so bad, but I'd prefer the option of having a functioning audio system during my time in there as I had on previous visits. Eventually, I had shut the light off in the pod and after I got out, I noticed the water was a dingy brownish color which I've seen photos of at their other location, but never had the issue myself until now. I dreaded to think of the fact I was just laying in this, as the blue light would distract one from this unsightly issue. Most likely it could be oxidation, but seeing it for myself was rather off-putting. On the upside, the LeLabo hair products are great, and my hair hasn't felt this soft in a while, but that could also be due to their awesome dyson blowdryers. When asked how my float was, I was honest and let her know that it wasn't as good as it had been. This was something I was looking forward to, and it ended up falling short, and I don't feel my expectations were too high either, considering I've had great visits before. She was very nice though; I work in a similar field and I understand the obligatory apology, but I'm hoping that they will address and keep a more watchful eye for mishaps that I had today. I had only one request (for a couple extra towels) and she did place them in the room for me, and they were fresh from the dryer so I appreciated this. I was planning on gifting my last float to someone else, but I hope he doesn't have a similar experience that I had today, considering this will be his first time. Sometimes you need to pause...and that's exactly what my husband and I did. For Christmas, we gave ourselves an early gift of self-care. Pause was running a special Ultimate Recovery package, so we decided to try it - Cryotherapy, Infrared sauna + cold plunge, and a salt float. First off, Justin, was amazing. We were warmly greeted by him. He checked us in and walked us through EVERYTHING. Super kind, so helpful, and friendly. Thank you, Justin! We started with 3 min of cryotherapy (at -166 degrees), followed by 30 min of infrared sauna (at 150 degrees) + cold plunge (at 44 degrees), and wrapped up the day with a 60 min float therapy session. If I could sum up today's experience in two words: WILD & wonderful. I've been interested in trying cryotherapy for awhile, after reading about the benefits regarding helping with pain and inflammation, along with improved circulation, increased energy, better sleep and improved mood. We were both given socks, sandals, gloves, and a headband to protect our ears. When I first started the session I felt myself gulping a bit for breaths as the waves of cryo clouds rose up around me. But, I settled myself, closed my eyes, and focused on my breathing. You did have a choice of listening to music, but we chose to just focus on our breathing. The cryo chamber didn't lock, so you could get out at any time if need be. There was also a cool window that could lower if you felt it was getting to be too much. And, they let you know when you were halfway through. We both remarked how cold our shins and forearms got by the end of the 3 minutes! Next up was the infrared sauna and cold plunge! Infrared sauna treatments are different than traditional saunas. Taken from the pause website: these infrared saunas produce heat through a penetrating wavelength that can enter your body's soft tissue and deliver benefits on a cellular level. The infrared, radiant heat penetrates achy joints, tired muscles, and frayed connective tissues, flushes out harmful detritus, boosts immunity, moisturizes, heals, refreshes skin, and enhances metabolic function. For 30 minutes we went back and forth between hot and cold. We roughly did 15 min of 150 degree sauna into 30 sec bursts of the cold plunge at 44 degrees, dried ourselves off, and then back into the warm, relaxing sauna. The plunge was WAYYYYY COLDER than I thought it would be. Ha! The goal is to plunge to up around your neck line and keep your feet in, but we both ended up raising our legs up out of the cold water. Quite an interesting experience! Then...we got to the F L O A T. The website says: Drift into a deep mediative state, loosing all sensation of your body and let the mind expand and explore. And that's...exactly...what...we...did. You sink your body into 10 inches of warm water therapeutically infused with 1,000 pounds of healing Epsom salts. We both had our own pod with controls for the light inside and the meditation music. And for 60 minutes we drifted...half awake, half dreaming. Words can't really describe how absolutely amazing this experience was. I cannot recommend this place enough. Our favorites were the infrared sauna and the float. The sauna room was nice and bigger than Sweatheory but: 1) the door lock had problems 2) the guy knew I had never been there before and didn't explain the buttons to me 3) it's wayyyyyyy more expensive than Sweatheory 4) the guy said I had ten minutes to shower afterwards when the website said fifteen It was nice to lay down in it but the cost difference is way too big even if it is closer and easier to park. read more

I come for their 30 min hot and cold therapy but you get to stay there for about an hour to shower and clean up. The place has a modern, and calm vibe. A little pricey but you gotta pamper yourself from time to time and zone the f out from the daily stress in life. If you bring a friend, they can get in for an additional $25. I recommend doing the 30 min hot/ cold therapy if it's your first time and work up a sweat for 15 min, then jump in the cold plunge for 30 secs or if you can, try to muster up for 1 min and don't forget to take deep, slow breaths and repeat. After that, do another cold plunge and hot shower and repeat. You'll feel so relaxed, refreshed and recharged when you're done. Don't forget to bring your own water or you can buy from there. The most incredibly amazing Sauna, Cryotherapy, & relaxation location I've ever been to!! This place totally surpassed any other sauna location in LA this far. Every detail was perfected in a nice modern fashion. The decor was trendy and beautifully well-lit!! Came here as a guest and loved every moment of it, even when I felt like I wasn't fully prepared to get sweated out, the hosts here made be feel 100% welcome and comforted!! I was reassured I'd have towels, a dress room (equipped with hair dryers, mirrors, and more essentials) and a shower in the sauna room. I totally enjoyed myself in their 100% INFRARED sauna, which heated my body from the inside not the outside. Perfect way to make me feel like I was on a hot beach not a boiler room. Definitely a plus for me. I didn't feel claustrophobic at all!! This was like magic and pretty neat. The Cryotherapy was freezing cold yet tolerable, which helps with muscle relaxation. I cannot rate this place highly enough! I've been coming almost everyday for the last 5 weeks and it's the best. I've only tried the cryo & LED bed but I adore both. Whole place has a great vibe & is well designed... wonderful touches like blow dryers and perfume in the dressing room. Staff is wonderful too... friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I do not feel exhausted for the rest of the day after trying their an hour long floating session. This new location has dressing rooms with stools, mirrors and Dyson hair dryers. They also have 3 floats! Tons of 2 hours street parking (north side) and stores nearby if you happened to feel hungry. Do eat light before your session, don't starve. Stay relax. The moment I chin up and closed my eyes, I drifted so far far away from this universe. I was alert, but my mind truly at rest, not thinking at all. Love this spot! I just recently discovered PAUSE in my neighborhood and did the contrast therapy for an hour. WOW -- What an experience!! Incredibly exhilarating and you get your own private room with a hot sauna, cold plunge tub, shower and can connect your music via Bluetooth. I also had an IV defense boost a couple weeks ago with all the add ons and infared on my face. SO relaxing... Justin is an absolute gem and was incredibly helpful with all of it! Buyer beware. I purchased a 10 pack. Last time I go in, they tell me that they've retroactively set a use by date. I didn't know that was legal? I then get an email from the manager after my visit making it even more offensive - they've put another rule in place retroactively that you can only use your package at the studio you purchased it at. They're insisting that I bought my package in South Bay (I don't live there and visited that studio on a promotion once). Bait and switch. read more

Came to Pause to float in the sensory deprivation tanks for my friend's birthday. Had an amazing experience! The studio is absolutely gorgeous, clean, airy and comfortable. The float tank and shower spa rooms were exceptionally beautiful and calming. The staff was so friendly, warm and accommodating. Special shout-out to Rick who was working that day and shared his knowledge of the health benefits associated with floating in the salt water tank. He was so helpful and was such a sweet human who made the overall experience just *chef's kiss* - I will definitely be back to try out some of the other services!! read more

Everything about this place is magic! If you are doing contrast for an hour or in cryo for 3 minutes you feel like it's a spa day. The staff is off the charts wonderful and Will the manager will bend over backwards for a client. I am thinner, get better sleep and my skin looks great. I do cryo and led bed almost daily. Love the space here and the super nice staff. The vibe is great. The infra red saunas are fabulous and clean and pretty and the cold dip is epic! I get iv treatments also and have always had a great experience. Nurses that administer are great at finding the vein and caring in their exchange. The Dr on staff was knowledgeable. I'm not a float gal so I leave for someone else to comment. My only real critique is I wish the Cryo pod was a bigger situation ...like a bigger "glassed in" Cryo chamber and the staff didn't stay in the room (as it feels intrusive) I have done Cryo all over the world and this is the only place they stay in the room which feels weird... Ending here on a positive note, love this joint! read more
