The groomer was either tired or she was rushing both my babies were jacked up. Instead of the manager dealing with the issue they asked me not to return. Which was a no brainer for me! I sent a very nice text, instead of responding positively, she went straight on defense. I wasn't rude, I just stated the obvious the dogs looked terrible but I was willing to suck it up until the next visit. My vet appointment was 4 days later and the vet said it was no way there nails had been trimmed 4 days ago. Either way not good unfortunately. I just picked up my 15-year-old Yorkshire Terrier from Paw Spa. This was my first visit. I changed from my usual groomer to support this business as a matter of social choice even though it was $40 dollars more than I usually spend. I will only say that I was distraught at the cut because his front legs had two long lines that indicated the groomer cut him to his skin. This was not the groom I had asked for or expected for $90. He was simply shaved almost to the skin all over except his face. When I spoke to the manager, her attitude was somewhat condescending as she defended the groomer and her work. I was told this cut was what I asked for. I felt my concerns were brushed off. As a senior citizen and woman on a fixed sole income, who saves and plans for such services, I cannot recommend this business for anyone under similar conditions. read more

Please consider the following experience I had, before ever bringing your dogs to the Paw Spa in Alexandria. I will never return to this establishment and do not recommend to anyone due to the disrespectful behavior of the manager and the fact that they would not return my dog to me immediately when I requested, while using profanity for long durations and accusing me of wanting my dog back early for other reasons unrelated to what I explained. On my fourth visit to the Paw Spa I decided that I wanted to pick my dog up early and cut the appointment short for two reasons: 1. I booked a 100-minute appointment and was told it would take 4 hours after they had taken her back. 2. She seemed very uncomfortable and was crying as she was taken back. I realize that this is normal for some dogs, but it is not normal behavior for my dog. I returned 20 minutes after initially dropping her off and asked if I could take her early while apologizing for the inconvenience, but I would pay the full price. The manager who I did not see the first time proceeded to yell and cuss at me while telling me not to tell her how to run her business. I remained calm and explained the reasons that I would like to get my dog and told her that I would feel better if I can get her, pay the full amount and bring her back when I have more time and my dog is feeling more comfortable. She went back and told me the dog was wet and wouldn't be ready for another 30 minutes while using profanity in the process. I asked if they could towel dry her and give her to me now, but she refused and told me I would have to come back in 30 min. I returned in 30 min and the door was locked. I knocked and rang the doorbell for a few min before it was answered and I was allowed to go in to get my dog and pay. After about 10 minutes of the manager yelling at me, using profanity saying that I was taking my dog early for unrelated reasons; then they allowed me to pay the bill for the full amount and leave with my dog. Of note: the grooming has always been good there and if I wasn't treated with such rudeness and profanity then I would have returned another time after picking her up early. Please read other 1 star reviews as rudeness and very poor customer service seems to be a major issue. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!!! I rescued my fur baby (a 3 y/o coonhound mix) about two months ago and have had trouble finding a groomer because she is so scared and anxious. Even when she smells a groomer she begins to shake. But luckily for the both of us we found Paw Spa! I called ahead of time to tell them about all of my concerns and I was reassured that they could handle it. And boy did they! Even through the anxiety the groomer was patient and compassionate with my dog. I can't say enough about this place. We will be back.
