We quickly learned that G & A does not just specialize in flooring, they provide a wide variety of services. In addition to carpeting, we needed painting, stone for countertops and expanded our project to replacing the tile in our laundry room (a long want on my wish list). I got 5 bids for painting and when combining all the above services, Brandon came in with the most competitive pricing. We went with G & A and are so happy that we did. I never felt like he was trying to upsell us and we felt their prices were very fair. In fact, Brandon offered us options with the stone that were more economical than other brands. Brandon was with us every step of the way! When the tile I picked out for the laundry room was discontinued, he found one very similar which I ended up liking better anyways. When they started the laundry room project, while removing the old baseboards, there was an issue with some of the drywall. Brandon quickly stepped in and had one of his guys perform drywall repair right away so as to not stall the project. They removed and reinstalled the washer/dryer as well. They also updated the 20 year old baseboards to match the rest of the house. All of G & A's laborers that worked in our home were courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Brandon kept us advised every step of the way. I STRONGLY recommend G & A for any home improvement needs you may have and don't forget, they do way more than flooring! I am attaching some photos of the closet where they laid carpeting and installed quartz, the tile & painting in the laundry room and the painting of the living room/foyer where the new closet was built above.

I was shown around by a very nice man (Cesar) and found the perfect tile for our shower. He let me borrow the sample for the weekend which was incredibly helpful. I showed the sample to my wife and she loved it as well. On Monday I went in and purchased the amount of tile my installer recommended. On my excitement of buying I did not read and was not told that all sales are final. After finishing up our shower which by the way came out perfect, I called and asked if I could return one full box for a refund. No was the answer and I was out $75.00 and have a box and half of tiles that will never be used. My suggestion is be very certain of measurements because once you sign the invoice you have cross the road of literally no return. My shower looks fantastic I could not picked a better tile and my installer (FRG Tile Installation) did an excellent job, just be wary of the no return policy so your not overpaying with no option of a refund.

The difference between Andres's quote with any of the other offers stood out like night and day. First and most importantly, Andres came out and spent over two hours looking at the work to be done, talking with us, and explaining all the possible issues that could come up. He was completely transparent, eager to answer every question we had with clarity and sincerity. Other contractors came out and did a rush job of measuring, threw out some figures and some with more extensive quotes than others, and there was always the possibility of a change order that could substantially increase the price. None of them clearly explained what needed to be done or what might be needed to be done, and none of them used their own staff-everything was hired out to one of their install teams. What made Andres's offer stand out way over any other was that he clearly explained everything that had to be done, or might have to be done, since doing wood flooring can open a number of issues that can crop up along the way. His quote, while slightly above our other offers, was the only all inclusive quote that would not include any change orders-every possible issue was included and he was willing to stick to his quote even if the job had issues along the way. This was especially true for our stairs. Andres also has his own crew and he is on site at the job, not spread thin doing multiple jobs at once. This means he will finish your job on time, and not stretch it out due to another job somewhere else. We were so comfortable with Andres after two visits, we decided to allow him to do the work while we were out of town. If any issues came up, he said he'd call or Facetime or send photos to discuss and explain. We were gone a week and one minor issue came up with the stair installation, which we resolved easily by phone and text. The crew left our home immaculate and clean, as if nobody had been there. They even moved a piano for us without any extra charge. Our neighbors remarked how immaculate and clean they were and covered all our furniture to prevent any work dust from covering things. The work and craftsmanship show in every way, and it's obvious Andres takes great pride in his work. We are extremely pleased with our flooring, and will be eager to hire Andres for other remodel projects.

WTF! At best this guy is incompetent (really thought the rugs were worth that much, despite the actual market value) and at worse (what I think is really the case); unscrupulous, telling people their rugs are worth much more to get them to then pay for cleaning and/or repair services. DON'T DO BUSINESS HERE!

Tompkins Flooring vs. Empire Today…read more Empire Today = Hassle and High-Pressure Sales I scheduled an in-home appointment with Empire Today to get a quote for replacing carpet in a single room. This was a small, straightforward job, but the visit took far longer than necessary and felt driven by sales process rather than efficiency. Instead of focusing on measuring the room and preparing a quote, the salesperson spent a significant amount of time talking and redirecting the conversation. After repeatedly asking for pricing, I was eventually shown a single total on his tablet. When I asked for a printed quote or an emailed copy, the salesperson said their system does not generate written quotes at all. He explained that even if he had internet access, quotes could only be presented in person and must be signed immediately. He also stated that if I did not accept the quote on the spot, it would no longer be valid and the only way to move forward would be for him to return to my home and repeat the entire process. The quote shown had no itemization or breakdown. There was limited detail on carpet type, padding, labor, or related items, and no documentation I could review, compare, or keep. The expectation was to agree to a single number immediately, without time to evaluate options or pricing. Given the lack of transparency and the pressure to make an on-the-spot decision, I politely ended the appointment. Tompkins Flooring = Efficient, Transparent, and Straightforward After that experience, I stopped in at Tompkins Flooring and worked with Chris. The difference was immediate. For the same simple job, the entire process took about five minutes. Chris was easy to work with, asked the right questions, and provided a clear quote without needing to come into my home. The quote included details on carpet, padding, and installation, and was provided in written form for review. Pricing from Tompkins was slightly lower than Empire Today, but the product was better. Both the carpet and padding options were higher quality, and the installation schedule was more flexible. There was no pressure to commit immediately, just clear information that made it easy to decide. The installation is scheduled for next week, and based on how smooth and professional the process has been so far, I'm guessing it will go smoothly. I'll update this review (if needed) after the work is completed. Overall, the contrast between the two companies was clear. One relied on urgency and limited information, while the other focused on transparency, efficiency, and respecting the customer's time.

I explained what floors we had, our family and pet situation, and our budget. He showed me some options and gave me a few samples to take home. He even gave me the baseboard samples, as well. He came to our house a few days later to measure and see our space. Within a few days we had a complete quote. To cover all my bases, I did have the big box place send one of their people over to give me a quote. And they sent me 3 separate costs analyses and I had to calculate the total myself (labor, shopping list from the store, and separate quote for baseboards). Not a huge deal, but it made it hard to know exactly how much the project would cost. Once I did calculate it, it was no cheaper than the Tompkins quote. We went with Tompkins and I'm so glad we did! Things were ordered quickly, delivered on time and installed beautifully! We are so happy we went with Tompkins. You can try and shop around but I don't think you'll be the price or service!

Jerry spent the better part of an afternoon educating us about different floor types, walking us through all of our options, and advising us on what was worth investing in vs. what wasn't. At no point did we ever feel pressured or like we were getting the upsell. Quite the opposite...from the very beginning it felt like Jerry had our best interest at heart, which showed not just in the quality of the end result, but in the extra steps he took to make our new floors affordable for us. I can't imagine a better place to go for flooring. By the end of the project we were calling him "Uncle Jerry." What more is there to say?
