Between Lionshead and Vail Village parking garages sits Pazzo's. It's a good little pizza place to eat at following a long day on the slopes. It wasn't busy so getting a table was fast. The servers were friendly. However, they seem to very short staffed so service was definitely slower than it should have otherwise been. I'm pretty sure one of the cooks even came out to help refill drinks and check on people in the dining room. It seems everywhere is struggling so I can't fault them as they're trying. As for the pizza, it was great. I really enjoyed one of the specialty pies and the rest of the menu look good as well. Pazzo's will leave you wanting to come back so check it out. read more

I'm sorry to the owners, but you need to hire new staff. The only acceptable staff member we came across was the young hostess who happily greeted us. My husband and two kids came in to order take out. The guy behind the counter looked at us and didn't say a word. While I was looking at the menu, another couple came in to pick up their takeout order and the guy again didn't say a word to them and ignored them when they told him they were there to pick up their pizza. At this point, I assumed he didn't know how to speak English. I then proceeded to order a cheese pizza, and he rang me up and when he saw that I did not tip, he grabbed the receipt, rudely said "Thank you for that!" And went about his business. I'm sorry, was I supposed to tip for your service when I'm not dining? That wasn't even the worst of it. An older couple (party of 2) wanted to sit next to the window and the server (a younger Caucasian girl) yelled at the lady saying she needs to sit at a smaller table because she needs to save those seats if a big party comes in. Mind you, the restaurant was empty! I'm beyond myself. I was getting ready to walk out but my little boy was starving and adamant that he wanted his pizza. The pizza at Pazzo's was solid. The service was scandalous. First of all, our party of 5, all of us having ski gear, were placed in a booth for 4 people. We tried to pull up a chair and they very rudely told us that we could not do that and to make it work with the booth. Then we asked the hostess if we were allowed to switch to a bigger table to accommodate for us and our ski gear. She had to go ask her boss and they never got back to us about it. 20 minutes later, a party of 5 was put into a booth next to us and they asked to move, and the hostess graciously allowed them to go to a bigger table. Our original waiter left us because he was butthurt that we tried to add a chair so he had to get someone else to wait for our table. The waitress was never kind, although not super rude. Every time we asked her for more water or plates etc., she almost acted as if it was a burden. Also, they added a 20% tip post-tax. Overall, the food was good but the experience was shitty. Delicious pizza! First off, there was no wait.. And it was 4th of July! Wonderful because we were starving. We started with some calamari. It was too crispy/dry and the sauce that came with it was a bit tart. It had a hint of wasabi too. In the future, I would avoid this dish. Service was average. They need to give bigger tables for larger groups. We had 7 people at a small table, with two pizzas. One person in our group had pizza all over his lap thanks to his plate falling due to the crowding of cups, plates, pizza stands etc. Now as for the pizza, wonderful. We ordered one veggie and one cheese with half jalapeños. Fresh and tasty. The only problem I had was how thin the pizza was, my toppings would slide off easily. Love this place and have been going there for years, but my god, this is the second time we went to pick up food in the past month and some of the cooks weren't wearing masks. The dude spreading out the dough on Sunday night for everyone's orders was wearing no face protection of any kind. We were recommended Pazzo's by a friend and it didn't disappoint! Environment felt authentic for a low-key Pizzeria, and had open air seating. Kid friendly and reasonably priced, even for 7! Crust was flakey/burnt, just how I love it. Wood fired? Not sure, but it was gorgeous nonetheless. We ordered the entire menu among our group. Meatball sub, French fries, Aztec pizza, cheese pizza, Roma pizza and a Greek salad. I had the small Greek salad. It was so refreshing to have good quality tomatoes. I'm from Okla., and it is hard to find juicy, flavorful tomatoes. The feta was also fantastic. It was a big chunk of feta instead of crumbles. Delicious. I also had the Aztec pizza. Again, the tomatoes were amazing. You can tell I'm obsessed. The cilantro, jalepenos, and pepperoni was an awesome combo. I've never had a pizza with cilantro, but it was great. Ofc if you are one of those people who thinks cilantro tastes like soap, you'll have to venture to other menu options. Everyone else loved their meals. I would have rated four stars because I thought the service was average, but then they pointed out that she was serving about half of the restaurant. Pazzo's was a family destination coming to Vail my whole life. We LOVED it and came multiple times yearly on ski trips. I'm not sure what's happened here since the 90s, but this has place has just destroyed itself. The apathy coming out of the kitchen and the food is just so sad compared to what it used to be. Crust is like something from Sysco. Salads are...I just don't have words for how bad. Anything they used to actually do well or use a little blood, sweat and tears and has been replaced by lethargy (manager) and the terrible cooks. Bad food and not worth the visit. read more

The pizza gets 5 stars (though wish the cheese and sauce went back farther on the crust so there wasn't as much crust). The calamari gets -5 stars! It was very heavily breaded and just tasted bad, very bad. The waitress said that it's new and better than before. How I don't know. We were just there, sitting over 25 minutes, no water no service. They took order from people that came after us. We didn't get no water or utensils.I feel so discriminated. If you're brown, don't go here. They're so rude to us and so nice to others. We didn't do anything to deserve this rude service. I even gave up our shaded table to two elderly ladies. We stopped here for lunch on our road trip back home. The service was not good. We were seated, given menus and then left alone. The person they had seating people was also the busser I think because she would wipe down tables and then go and sit at a table on her phone until someone came in or left. Our waiter finally came by and said he'd be with us in a minute...the minute was about 10 minutes. I would understand if it was busy and the staff was busy with other tables but there were not a lot of people eating. As I looked around I saw several staff members sitting at the to go bar on their phones. Our waiter was in another area on his phone and still hadn't given us any drinks or took the order. Fast forward to the food...it was not good. My husband had a chopped antipasto salad with what looked like packaged deli meat not chopped. He found hair in it. My son had spaghetti and meat sauce. He said the meat was too chewy, with no flavor, and he had a hair in his food. My daughter had a pizza pocket that looked good. The inside was cold, the cheese didn't melt and most of the inside dough was raw. I had a Cesar salad that was made with wilted lettuce and very sad looking. It was a disappointment to eat there. I had pizza by the slice here. It was a cheaper option compared to most places in Vail. They have a wide variety of interesting options. I think it would be better ordering a whole pizza because for the pizza by the slice, they just take a slice of premade cheese pizza and add your toppings to it for your order then heat it up in the oven for a little bit. My personal favorite thing to do here is grab a couple slices to go and them eat them on a patio of the local brewery across the street overlooking the Solaris plaza. Makes for a good time in the summer months where you can mix local craft beers with some pretty solid quick pizza. Overall, you get what you pay for here. Cheaper than most and still pretty good.
