After we landed in Tampa, and realized we didn't get to eat before our flight (nor on our flight), we were starving and looking for fast food, but something healthier, not TRULY fast food. Looked here on Yelp, and discovered a place called PDQ. This particular location received some great reviews and was in the area we were headed to, so we gave it a shot. So glad we did, because we had discovered a new favorite eatery. Too bad there aren't any PDQs in New England! Hubby ordered the Spicy chicken sandwich meal and I ordered the PDQ salad (with crispy chicken) and BOTH hit the spot perfectly. The chicken was REAL chicken and very fresh and hot. My salad was crisp, cold and clean and tasted great! I sneaked some of those waffle fries from hubby and I could've eaten an entire basket of them! Crispy, hot and great flavor! Even the soda was delicious haha! Granted, we were both STARVING coming from our flight, but honestly, this place was great. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted kindly by the gals behind the counter. We placed our order, got our sodas from the self-serve counter, and went to sit down. The chicken tasted very bland and like it was fried in old oil had a funky burnt oil after taste. Will try the Orlando location as a second try. This used to be my favorite place to get a chicken sandwich, I thought they were better than Chick-fil-A but now they cook the sandwiches a head of time and throw them in a warming bin. Don't enjoy leaving a review like this. I ordered the 12pc Spicy Nuggets at the drive thru. They are quite small! I'm all about quality so if they are incredibly good I would be ok. But not the case here. And the familiar flavor of *used for too long* deep fry oil before changing to fresh, was in full effect here. You may get fresh oil when you visit?! So glad Mark took my order. He was friendly, helpful and made suggestions on what I might like "to be different" on menu. PDQ has more option a than I realized: salads, bowls, and a variety of sides including chili-lime corn, rice and beans, and roasted broccoli. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich per Mark's suggestion with sweet sriracha sauce. Sauces are made fresh every day and PDQ is generous with any and all you need. Shakes are a must, super thick, traditional and creative flavors. We prefer the fresh tastes of crispy chicken strips at PDQ over other chicken places. We like the hand made lemonade best. Prices are very reasonable and a good deal for families. I'm impressed by this location's well marked crosswalks and priority for wheelchair friendly sidewalk access. OH yeah love the foot controlled hand washing station. Brilliant idea for families and all of us. PDQ is not new to our family but I had to give a five star rating to Mark's customer service as he was not he main cashier but raced to order area when he saw me pull up. The food here is just what you'd expect from a PDQ. It pretty darn good! I got the Thai Rice Bowl which is always good. So why the four stars? Apparently one of the two cash registers was down. PDQ is a creation by God. He decided to hand bread these chicken tenders for my delight and even offer me a healthy alternative when I get too fat from all the primary options with grilled chicken tenders. The sauces are out of this world good! You need to go classic honey mustard and then expand out from there! Also a big fan of the garlic ranch sauce they have as well as the Thai peanut which is very similar to the same sauce you get from traditional Thai restaurants with crab rangoons. Their fries are okay in my book, the steamed broccoli is perfect as well as the apples! I will say it is a bit more towards the pricy side, but well worth it in terms of the value you get for your tenders. If you haven't had it before give it a shot with a nice 5 tender piece combo. PDQ is definitely one of my favorite fast food places. The service is always nice and it's clean too. In terms of quality they a step above most places as a chain. I got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, with Fries. The sandwich was good as you'd expect, but the fries always lack something. People seem to compare PDQ to Chic Fil A a lot, over all I definitely prefer PDQ, the sandwiches here have more flavor, but the fries at PDQ don't compare. I had finished my sandwich by the time I realized I had to include a picture so this is all I've got. I'd like to point out that the fries aren't bad, it's just that they could be improved. Side note: Another reason I like PDQ is because they seem to be more invested in the communities they're in. Thanks PDQ for turning a bad day into a great one! I've always been curious about this chain, based on the reviews on Yelp. But I didn't think I would make it to one anytime soon, thinking the only location was in Tampa. But I was wrong! While waiting at the doctors office with a huge stomachache and migraine, I saw this on Yelp, and it was 0.2 miles away! I was so happy. With my head feeling better, I excitedly drove here, praying that fried food will help my stomachache. I loved the friendly staff (on par with Chick Fil A) and the interior of the restaurant. However it was expensive, $7.99 for three strips, fries, and drink (I can get a chicken sandwich, fries and a drink at Chick Fil A for $5.69). They had Peet's Coffee tea and a Coke freestyle machine. The food came fast and hot. One word: WOW. The chicken was juicy and tender! I loved the hand cut fries and honey mustard dipping sauce. Honestly, I'm a huge Chick Fil A fan but these were just so amazing. Chick Fil A tenders are not as good as PDQ Tenders which are not as good as a Chick Fil A sandwich. I loved the hand washing station with Yardley lavender soap. The station really encouraged hand washing! And yes, this fried food extravaganza did help my stomachache! God's miracles never cease. PDQ stands for people dedicated to quality and that's exactly what they are. Founded by former Outback Steakhouse people, PDQ's menu is quite simple, but that's what makes them good. They are experts at delivering quality chicken and turkey meals. I've visited the south Tampa location several times and on my visit to the St Pete location today I had the same experience. Everyone is overly friendly and this is one tight run machine. The managers actually work! And aren't just a figurehead. They take an "all hands on deck" approach and teamwork is their motto. The result is customer focused service and a quality product. I ordered the grilled chicken salad with the blueberry vinaigrette dressing-delish! My coworker ordered the grilled turkey sandwich with apples as his side. LIked it, but did not love it. I heard it was considered a competitor of Chick Fil A, but I think they are very different. I had the grilled turkey sandwich and thought the piece of turkey looked like a pork chop. I was expecting thin sliced roasted turkey, but to my surprise this was a slab of turkey and seasoned just right, so juicy! It came with mayo, lettuce and cranberry. I will get this again. I did not think the fries were anything to write home about. I'll try the cole slaw next time. The chicken tenders (no nuggets) reminded me of TGIFriday's - which I loved when I was a kid. I tried the honey mustard and liked it. I also tried the Chipotle BBQ and was not into it. As mentioned by other posters they have the cool Coke soda machine that allows you to cross combine types of soda and flavors. This location is just up the block from my house so I imagine I will eat there on a semi-regular basis, but it will not be my go to. I tried the breaded turkey sandwich, which was nice and crispy but also very bland. I also tried the tenders which had a different breading from the turkey but was still bland. I was a big fan of PDQ. One night on the way home I stopped at the drive thru and got two salads for dinner. When I got home I found that the lettuce was all brown and soggy.
