Have had the bibimbap, the natto bowl, the hub got the tofu katsu curry - the flavors, the veggies, the textures are all super great. Price point is just right for what you're getting. Lots of fresh veg and protein. Would be perfection if they had an online ordering and payment option and dedicated parking stalls. Still I'd say out of the vegan places this has the most complete and balanced flavors and dishes. I'm not a strict vegan though so maybe my word doesn't hold much weight. Everytime I visit Oahu I come here. Hands down my favorite meal. I always get the curry katsu tempeh. I have been vegetarian for 8 years now and the one thing I crave is crispy chicken, this is my remedy. The curry sauce has so much flavor and blends perfect with the ancient rice. All the flavors balance the sprouts and small salad mixed with every bite of the crispy tempeh and rice. I have yet to try other things from the menu, but I don't know if I can deviate away from this masterpiece of a meal. I came to Peace Cafe on a whim for my last meal in Hawaii before hopping on a plane back to the mainland United States, and wow...I truly could not have asked for a better final meal on the island! Peace Cafe offered some of the best vegan comfort food I've ever had, drawing from Korean, Japanese, Moroccan, Mexican, and American cuisines to provide uniquely delicious dishes at a really reasonable price. While the takeout-only operations took away a bit of the experience, I was honestly just so grateful that Peace Cafe was still open during the pandemic and that I was able to try out their amazing dishes! I opted for their katsu plate with tempeh, and it was absolutely incredible -- the breading on the katsu was delightfully crispy, and the tempeh was remarkably flavorful. The katsu sauce was also amazing -- it had the most delightful curry flavor, and I honestly wish that I could just buy a giant bottle of this and put it on everything I eat. Between the black and brown rice and massive tempeh cutlet, the plate was incredibly filling, so I was really grateful for the little side salad and mixed greens to lighten up the meal. My friend tried out their katsu plate with tofu, so I had the opportunity to do a little side-by-side comparison of the tofu and tempeh -- both are absolutely delightful, but I, personally, thought that the texture of the tempeh paired a bit better with the rest of the plate. The tofu was softer and a bit more watery, but if you aren't the biggest fan of tempeh (or are just looking for something with a softer consistency), the tofu is a really solid choice. One of my other friends tried out their heart and Seoul, and also loved their vegan take on traditional Korean flavors. Another stellar vegan offering establishment in Honolulu. This one has been around for quite some time and it is excellent. Highly recommend the Hanoi Sandwich, but I get it with rice, substitutions are available. The peanut sauce on the Hanoi is like something from another planet. It's amazing. I'm not a vegan but I had enjoyed eating at the Peace Café food truck at UHM campus way back before the pandemic. I find their food healthy, clean and delicious. Even now that I occassionaly take out, my go-to dish remains Hanoi plate! It comes with a house made peanut sauce on a bed of tofu and brown rice, sprinkled with some fresh cilantro on top. Delish!! I recently tried their popular curry katsu tempeh which was good overall but the curry sauce was too salty for my taste. It is a heavy dish, perfect to share among 2 people or else you will probably end up with some leftovers. Their matcha mochi and matcha latte are perfect choices for any fellow matcha lovers! Kinako sesame latte is not bad either but I found it a bit too sweet for my taste. The sesame sticks to the bottom but that's just physics :) I only wish they diversified their menu a bit. This review is a little late but just was so disappointing I wanted to share anyway. The one star is solely for the Thanksgiving meal we ordered. NOT for the staff, NOT for customer service, and NOT for their storefront. All of that was great. We were extremely disappointed in our Thanksgiving meal. Low vibrational, no flavor, cold, didn't seem fresh, just disappointing. We won't be taking a gamble with a vegan Thanksgiving meal again and will just put in the extra effort to cook at home. But this put such a damper on our holiday, we don't have anything else to enjoy as far as a meal for that day and it was a real bummer. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! First off the gentleman gave outstanding customer service(you knew my daughter deija) sorry should have asked for his name. He suggested a perfect plate for me, filled with cilantro hummus, assorted salads and vegetables. It was full of flavor I was shocked as I'm not a vegan lol was just trying something new. I think it cost me around. 4/5 stars -Fried Tempeh Curry: Tastes like a healthy version of Chicken kastu, but with bean like texture. The breading was light, but kind of heavy. This charming café is a must-visit! The Katsu is outstanding, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Oahu.

I placed an online order for pickup one morning but arrived a little early, (45 minutes early) before they were even open in fact. Anyhow, the workers (who were setting up the restaurant) saw and acknowledged me outside and stated that they would notify the kitchen to start my order. I told them that it wasn't necessary since I was in no hurry and since they hadn't even opened yet, but they insisted. While I was parked outside the restaurant, the owner came out to verify my order, and as she did, she saw a bunch of roses that I had in the car and asked if it was for my anniversary, which coincidentally it was and she congratulated me. Not long later, she and another worker came outside to deliver my order and they congratulated me again and even gave me a small gift! Long story short, the owner and staff at Peace Cafe are awesome as is their service. Oh, and need I mention the food? That could take a whole other review since everything that I've had there is delicious (and healthy?) but the taco rice is so far one of my faves. Can't wait to return soon!! read more

I can't speak less of how terrible this experience was. Arguably the worst experience I have ever had with a restaurant. My wife placed an order for delivery through their online website, and apparently the driver went to restaurant and told them "my wife cancelled the order" and he left. My wife continued to receive notifications the food was on the way and eventually called the restaurant and asked what the deal was. They told her what happened and said "I hope someone comes and picks it up". My wife had a sleeping baby so she obviously couldn't pick it up. But they made zero effort to get it delivered and just "hoped" it would happen. Almost 2 hours went by and I got home from work and called. After calling once and being told I'd get a call back (I didn't), I called again to get answers. I was given the run around. The lady on the phone put the phone down to speak to the manager and I heard their conversation clearly. The manager clearly didn't care and just was like "have them contact a delivery service". When the lady came back I asked to speak to the manager. She said he didn't speak good English to which I said I heard their conversation earlier and he spoke it just fine then. I continued to ask for the manager to get a refund, and the manager refused to speak to me. Because the restaurant messed up, it took me over an hour to figure out who it was delivered through because I guess they somehow did it through multiple ones? I honestly have no idea but I had to personally figure it out because the texts we received from the restaurant and the ones they told me on the phone were incorrect. It took over 3 hours to get my money back and the manager couldn't even give me an apology. I hope this place closes down. Do not order online because I personally believe it's a scam through them and their "delivery service". read more

Let me start with saying my Husband and I ate here 3 days in row! Only if the Cafe hours were longer we would've eaten there x2 / day - not even kidding! We are obsessed with Peace Cafe! The staff are very friendly and working very hard to prepare everyone's orders. Everything is made fresh and well worth the wait when its busy. There's street parking in front and in the back. If you walk around from the back and come around the corner, its right behind the smoke shop sign that sticks out. I totally missed it the first time. I believe it's currently take-out only. They have a utensil station to grab and go. There's also a park with shaded areas next to the building you can eat and enjoy while the food is hot. After scrolling through reviews, the first day I ordered two "Tempeh" Curry Katsu because I had a feeling my husband and I wouldn't want to share lol My gut feeling was right! The tempeh texture and exceptional crunch had us both with big heart eyes! After that, my husband ONLY wanted to eat Curry Katsu till the day we departed Oahu. He got to try both the tofu and tempeh Curry Katsu. Both are 10/10 deliciousness but we loved the tempeh version more. I branched out the following two days and I got to try popeye "over rice", Natto bowl and the Yakisoba. Popeye was incredible. Every bite had us in awe ~ like how does this taste so good?! There was such a rich Miso umami flavor that had us almost licking the plate. I personally love Natto and was excited to order it off a menu. The Natto Bowl was everything and MORE than I expected. There's so much flavor and I would def. order it again. The Wasabi with the Natto was a special touch bc that's how I like it too! For the Yakisoba, I think they use green noodles which we also love. Same noodle texture and yummy flavz. All the dishes we ordered, we enjoyed 110%. Over the course of 3 days, we ate a total of 7 mochi cakes and wish we got more for our plane ride :P Def recommend ordering: tempeh Katsu curry, popeye over rice, mochi cakes and def get a lemonade! Peace Cafe DID NOT DISAPPOINT! They were our first vegan spot on our first trip to Hawaii and our last before leaving. We almost missed our flight because of them! Had to get our fix! FOOD: The food was absolutely delicious. I tried the Katsu Curry which was everything my tastebuds needed. My husband had the Katsu Plate which I actually preferred more. UNTIL I had the Pop Eye sandwich! It was to die for! STAFF: The cashiers both times were awesome, down-to-earth, inviting people! One of them is from where I currently live. Stuck in traffic from east side headed to leeward so decided to take a detour to Peace Café for lunch pickup. Opted for my staple the Tofu Scramble plate that included scramble tofu with mixed greens with dressing, vegetable soup, and breadsticks. Something about the textures between the items that just keeps me repeat ordering this dish. The tasty breadsticks were great with the scrambled tofu as a spread and also dipped in the soup. I got my egg texture fix without the cholesterol. I'm a big soup guy so I should order an extra side of soup, overall, it was great as always even after being on road 30 minutes after receiving order and getting to my final destination. I should've opted to eat at their small but relaxing store but I was pressed for time with traffic on my mind still the food was delicious. My sister told me how much she loves it here so decided to give it a try. I ordered the tofu katsu curry for $16 I think... IT WAS AMAZING!! Perfectly crispy, it was like Japanese curry, so delicious. My nephew could barely tell it wasn't meat lol. Came with wild rice which was yummy and some random veggies and sprouts lol. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that it took a long time but so worth it. The girl at the register was so cute, bubbly, informative and quick. Peace Cafe is a cute little restaurant located next to a smoke shop. We were able to snag a parking spot along S. King Street, fortunately enough. What I didn't immediately notice was a bunch of tents down the block, with lots of homeless people hanging out. It was only while we were waiting to for our order to be ready that we heard several of the people cursing at one another, that I realized this restaurant was nestled in a rather sketchier area of town. I would not come back alone, that's for sure. Once we got our food, we quickly got into the car and drove to our family gathering. While everybody else feasted on KFC, we enjoyed our vegan meals of Katsu and Tofu poke. Both were flavorful and delicious. I did favor the katsu, and am interested in trying out the BBQ tempeh and sandwiches in the future. Now if only the neighborhood outside of Peace Cafe were a little more peaceful... read more
