I have had 22 pets cremated/aquamated over the last 20 years. Peaceful Pets Aquamation is awful. Do NOT trust them with your pet. The service I used for in-home euthanasia for my cat works with Peaceful Pets. I wasn't familiar with Peaceful Pets though they seem to be owned by the same corporation that is buying up a lot of cremation/aquamation services in L.A.. The experience was terrible. My cat was a polydactyl so I ordered clay paw prints of both her front paws. I was charged $60 each. I also asked for the paw prints in ink on card stock. They botched my cat's clay paw prints. They look like something a preschool child would make. They didn't do the ink paw prints at all. I am stuck with amateurish clay discs with imprints that look nothing like cat paws. I did receive a credit for the 2 clay paw prints from the euthanasia company (not Peaceful Pets), but there are no re-dos when your pet is dead. I deserved a better memento of the cat I loved for more than 15 years. Peaceful Pets Aquamation deprived me of something that should have been quite meaningful to me. I have beautiful paw prints in clay made by different companies when my other pets passed. The experience with Peaceful pets was incredibly disappointing. Canela came to us in Fall 2013, and according to the shelter, she was 2 years old. My stepfather would give her food when she would pass by, but I made the decision to have her as family, along with out cat. Sadly, they never got along, but I did not care. They lived separately, but together. I was not going to let Canela live somewhere else where she would not receive much attention and her walks. Canela has been giving me love for 7 years. In those 7 years, she did what she wanted, but paid with time at the pound. I bailed her out many times and my stepfather raised the fence. Canela outsmarted us many times! Canela's passion was to go to our walks and just explore nature. She was very feisty as well. One time my favorite team's second division team had a pups at the park night and took Canela there and she was barking at other dogs! She also got to meet some of the first division team players the day before a crosstown match. She would nag at me and would run to the gate once I show her her leash. She did me a favor and I to her when it came for our walks. Since Canela got out many times, she became a bit of a celebrity in our neighborhood. Many people loved her. There was one time my wife was waiting at the bus stop and the driver told her that she could not bring her dog. It was Canela with my wife! My wife had no choice but to go to work, but called my mother to ask if Canela was home and she said yes. Canela had so much fun in her years and would get into fights with our cat. Despite that, I loved her so much to the point that she got very spoiled. She knew how to get to my head. As with many living beings, she started to develop a tumor and I took her to surgery, which was a success. I became unemployed due to covid and that allowed me to bond with her more. She developed another tumor and another one on her vulva and took her to the specialist. The surgery was a success, but it hurt her afterwards. One week after the surgery, she was energetic and got out of the house with her e-collar on! I brought her back home by car. That happiness lasted one month when she started limping. I took her to a vet and diagnosed her with osteosarcoma and noticed that the same tumor was coming back for a third time! I immediately started her on a holistic treatment. Amputation was not an option and I started doing research on anti cancer diets, including buying her immune support supps, apocaps and medicinal mushrooms. At the same time, the tumor on her vulva came back, but stronger. I took her to the oncologist, who recommended palliative radiation and zoledronate, but calls me the next day to tell me that the tumor on her vulva got ulcerated, there's no solution and that the best thing to do was to let her go. As I think of this, the time after the specialist surgery was bittersweet because she regained her life back, but for a short time. What Canela and I achieved during her holistic treatment was the prevention of metastasis to her lungs, normal blood tests after x-rays and blood tests came out normal and a stop on the growth of that third tumor on her belly, but we could not stop the tumor on her vulva. Her body and her holistic treatment were overwhelmed with osteosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma and squamous cell carcinoma. October 22 came and Canela and I took our last walk. The zoledronate for her bone cancer worked because she walked more than usual and slept with me on her affected bone. She enjoyed her walk on the first park I took her to for our walks, but felt ready to make the transition once we got home. Dr. Au was very compassionate in easing Canela's pain and she also agreed with what the oncologist and specialist told me. Canela passed away on October 22, 2020. This day will forever live in infamy for me because he passing was very personal to me. The following days were painful, but if it wasn't for my dad asking me to help him drive out of state, I would still be grieving to this day. Almost one month later, Dr. Au returns her remains in a box and we chatted about how this year was a mess for everyone and that she was a student of Temple Grandin! I get home and almost cry at seeing the urn. It is a piece of work! And so is her paw print, which I hang at the rearview mirror, since Canela LOVED getting in my car. Many thanks to Jerry and everyone else who take care of our non-human family members after they pass away. I am sure all of us would give away part of our lifespan just to extend their lives and to bring them back to life. I miss Canela and her passing is already a big void, one that I will have to carry for the rest of my life. Thank you and be safe. This pandemic won't last forever. read more

My baby girl passed away earlier this month after a difficult battle with cancer and heart failure. I knew I wanted to do aquamation & my brother used Peaceful Pets last year when his dog passed away. He said the service was just ok, but that he felt assured knowing he got his dog back. The latter was very important to me, especially after hearing those horror stories of people not getting their actual pets' remains back. So I was going to use Peaceful pets. I'm glad I didn't and found the place I actually took my dog to. It was just passed 5pm, when Peaceful Pets closes. Therefore, my brother tried emailing them for me because they advertise that they constantly check their emails, even after hours. I even tried emailing myself later that evening. Neither one of us got a reply, but did not think much of it and decided to wait until the morning. I called first thing in the morning, explained what happened, and if I could personally drop off my baby. The lady on the phone gave me an off vibe from the beginning--a bit cold and unsympathetic. She first lied about responding to my email. I didn't think much of it because I was at least able to talk to someone now. I then asked if it were possible for them to save some of my dog's teeth. She said no. I told her my brother had his dog aquamated here and was offered to have some teeth and even bones saved. She said the owners changed and they don't do that anymore, but she'd asked them. I was on hold for a very brief moment before she came back and she said they wouldn't be able to because the new owners "don't feel comfortable" with it. She said I could ask the hospital holding my dog if they could do it. I said ok and that I'd try asking them, and then was about to ask another question I had. This was my first time losing a pet and I had a few questions about the aftercare process. But then she just hung up on me. No "do you have any other questions?", "can I help you with anything else?", "sorry we are unable to get the teeth for you, but we'll make sure your dog is taken good care of so drop her off when you're ready," or even a simple "goodbye." I knew right in that moment that I could not trust them with my baby. They had 0 kindness or sympathy towards me losing my baby and made me feel that asking just 2 questions was such an inconvenience, so how could I trust them to show any kindness or care towards my dog in the aftercare process? Also, considering the owners changed, I was a tad skeptical about if the quality of their services are still the same. All the reviews here & my brothers experience were before the new owners. Also, looking back, it's very odd how the new owners bought a business that provides aftercare services for people's passed pets and have to handle their bodies, but teeth freak them out. I don't know, to me, it just gives me the impression that they care more about making easy money (aftercare services are not cheap) rather than caring about us losing our family members. I wasn't sure what to do and didn't want to leave my baby at the hospital for too long. But then, I remembered one of my dog's doctors referring a different company for at-home euthanasia in the past. They have a stellar reputation for that, so I assumed that they should be good for aftercare as well. And boy, was I right. From the 1st phone call to even after picking her up, every person I spoke/interacted with was beyond sweet and helpful. There were some services they did not offer, but said they would try for me because they knew how much my dog meant to me. We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Macy. We arranged to have her "aquamated" (?) at Peaceful Pets and we couldn't be happier. The folks there are so nice, and they delivered Macy back to us in a beautiful urn, inside a beautiful velvet bag. They included a ceramic paw print and a lovely card. When we opened the bag we noticed there was a flaw in the wooden urn. I called Peaceful Pets and Tania couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. I live nearby so I brought the urn back and they switched it out for a new one. The woman at the front desk (I'm sorry I didn't ask her name) was also very kind and helpful. My dog Pancake passed away on September 27th. True Care Veterinary offered Peaceful Pets Aquamation as one of their preferred options upon his death. Under the stressful circumstances I trusted the vet and agreed to have my dog brought to this facility. I was told I would receive my dog through the mail - when I said do I need to make any special arrangements, I was assured that I did not, and he would be delivered within 3 weeks. It's now been a month, so I called Peaceful Pets Aquamation to ask where he was. A woman nonchalantly tells me there was an attempt made to deliver my dog on Oct 14th, (it's now Oct 28th!) but a signature was required and no one was home. Well that is news to me! I work from home, and never was there a note left in my mailbox or on my door. When I asked where my dog Pancake was she said "he's PROBABLY at the post office since we haven't received him back yet." Then she proceeds to give me a tracking number to go find him! Are you kidding me! No apologies, she wasn't even the slightest bit taken back upon hearing my situation, which made me think does this happen often??? So with not much to go on, I drove to 2 different local postal offices in order to hunt down my dead dog. First one, he's not at that location - Next location, I walk in and the postman asks what I need. Upon telling him he looks shocked and goes in the back on the hunt to find my dog - he comes out with this little box and then SLIPS as he's walking to give me my dog. The box with my dog in it slides across the entire room until it hits the wall. This was the most horrendous, disheartening and sad way to receive my baby that I cherished for 11 years. How this could be let go for this long without anyone following up to make sure I received my dog is unacceptable. I hope no one EVER has to go through this awful process just to get their beloved family member back home. read more

I have taken both my dogs to Peaceful Pets Aquamation. The staff have been very caring though I mostly have interacted with Blair. I wanted my dogs picked up right away when they passed and they arranged to do that for an extra fee. Also, you can have your buddy lay on his or her bed until the procedure takes places and this was very comforting for me. The bed can be picked up or donated after. On each occasion, I was able to visit my dogs to see them before the procedure. This is very healing because it helps you to take in the loss of your beloved pet. The facility was also very flexible. They let me place a lock of my hair with my dogs and also notified me when the procedure was taking place. They read a blessing that I had written for each when the aquamation was taking place. They also offer ink prints of your animals' nose or paw prints and fur trimmings. There are other memorial items available for purchase. This includes mugs or picture frames with your animals' name and/or paw print. Grief is very personal and we all do it in our own way. I think the folks at Peaceful Pets are highly accommodating to bereaved pet parents in whatever way they need to do that. read more

Peaceful Pets is a beautiful service. My dad and I recently lost our Tulah, a pit mix. Everyone at Peaceful Pets was so kind--the woman on the phone was very comforting while I cried, and really put the care for our girl first (I didn't catch her name). The man who picked Tulah up, Uriah, was also incredibly kind and respectful. He called ahead of time to let us know he had arrived. He also let me send Tulah off with flowers, and I was impressed by the pickup setup. Then he stood by respectfully while we said our goodbyes, and was very understanding. They also offer great services--fur clippings, nose prints, and paw prints, which I think are lovely options for grieving owners. And when the ashes arrived, it was clear that they'd been packaged with extreme care and understanding. I started writing a review back in 2019 but was too distraught. I can finally speak about my experience without crying. My hamster passed away. Shmuel. He was the little light in my office, among the grey walls and exotic plants. A little snow ball with fur like a white mink coat. Half the size of a tennis ball, but burned brighter than a bon fire. He was the sweetest being I've ever met and gave me two years of pure love. He also had balls of steel - when cleaning his kennel (a massive terrarium), he would be put in his running ball and zip around the hard wood flooring, skidding past the cats and bumping into the pitbulls with no fear. Thankfully my dogs and cats are backwards and believe the smaller the being, the more power they have; so little Shmuel ruled the roost. Until he didn't. Cancer knows no boundaries and does not care what size the host is. He was humanely euthanized at the Angeles Animal Hospital in Simi Valley, then I sat in my car, going on hour eight of bawling my eyes out, when I found Peaceful Pets Aquamation on Google. I couldn't speak without breaking down so I emailed, not expecting an answer or anything really. I was in such a daze I didn't really think about it. I also found myself not wanting to move. I wanted time to stop. And I didn't want to give up his body yet. He looked like he was sleeping in his little travel tank, so peaceful and calm. Then my phone pinged as I was immediately responded to by who I believe to be the owner or someone of that level. He was so caring and respectful, I cried even harder. It's not every day that someone euthanizes a hamster and needs them cremated apparently. I don't remember if it was $70 or $90 he quoted but it didn't matter; I anticipated at least $150. He said I can come right away and they can take care of my little one. I drove to their facility and found the lady behind the desk was waiting for me. She gave me all the time I needed but I distinctly remember saying, after just a few minutes, she should take him now before I change my mind. Death does weird things to your reasoning. When I picked him up...a few days?...later, the package was perfectly put together; his little box was in a tied, purple bag. And the best part - a little wooden circle with my baby's name imprinted - Shmuel, and his paw print in the center. He's sitting on my shelf as I type this, always on the lookout with the other animal spirits. Moving forward, I will be taking all of my pets here, regardless of how far away I live. I wish I never needed this service again, but with as many pets as I have, it's unfortunately a service I will need ten times over. I hope the future experiences are as great as Shmuel's. read more

Did they walk his remains to us via San Diego...? And this after calling them over and over and being assured he's ready to be shipped. Great service for $300. read more

Losing a pet in any circumstances is painful, but our experience with Peaceful Pets helped a great deal. They were recommended to us by the emergency vet when our cat became terminal. What they say on their website is true: they really do care about pets and grieving pet parents. They kept in contact while we waited (the process takes a few weeks), arranging in advance to make sure we would be there and ready for them to come by. The remains of our beloved cat Gingko were delivered back to us yesterday--no extra services, in just the standard beautiful box with lovely pawprint ornament--delivered not by mail or courier, but by hand by one of the owners. (She was genuinely sympathetic, and even let us cry for a moment on her shoulder.) If you want to keep the remains of your beloved pet, I can think of no better way to do it nor nicer people to work with. read more

Green alternative to cremation, had never heard of alkaline hydrolysis. They didn't reply to my after-hours email, so I can't comment on their pick-up service. I called the next day and they got right back to me, and I brought my cat in to their facility in Northridge. Fast service, no waiting. A bit costly at $210. Nice paw print. read more

My dear 12 year old Pomeranian Bella passed away in early June. In these final moments I was lovingly asked by the Malibu Animal Hospital if I had wishes for her body. i was told about "Aquamation" as well as a few other options. After finding out a little more about it from Robin Kahrs who has done amazing work at the Agoura Animal Shelter, and is an animal lover herself, I knew this was the only way to go. "Sherman" picked my baby up personally for the process which is also environmentally friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to take care of and handle my pets body. Shortly thereafter, they personally delivered her remains to me in a beautiful box with a little plaster of her tiny paw print. i think this is such a sweet way to memorialize a beloved pet and I will always cherish it. I am not thrilled by the care I received for my dog but there are some positive notes too. 3-4 days after my dog arrived at Peaceful Pets, I did not receive any phone call confirming that they had him. I ended up calling and leaving several voicemails as no one picked up. They said they didn't know if he was there and they would call me to locate him... definitely not something I wanted to hear under such upsetting circumstances. They did indeed have him. I was able to place orders for memorabilia with one gentleman on the phone who was nice enough to allow me to visit Max given the pandemic circumstances. I wanted to visit Max for a last goodbye but also to confirm that my dog was actually at the facility. I was surprised to find that the viewing area was just a waiting room with curtains. Max came out on a cart and his body was damp and did not seem cared for. I have seen many pets in a viewing setting and none of them appeared the way Max did or smelled the way he did. I understand the normal biology the body experiences during the decaying process, however I have never seen an animal in the condition Max was in. This was a bit unsettling and I felt awkward speaking to my pet amongst active phone calls going on around me. I appreciate Peaceful Pets allowing me to see my pet. And I appreciate how helpful the gentleman was on the phone. If given another chance, I'm not sure if I would go ahead with this service again but I am glad to know that this process is ecofriendly. read more

What can I say? I was devastated when the love of my life died suddenly at a very young age. I took her body to my avian veterinarian for a necropsy. The veternarian assistant asked me if I wanted to have her body taken to Aquamation, they described what would be done to her little body. Losing a pet is awful. I'm glad I chose Peaceful Pet Aquamation to handle my pets body after her death. Jerry was so helpful and although I didn't end up needing it, he offered to stay late to accommodate my schedule. The people there are wonderful and so kind. My beautiful sweet stoic girl Somang, passed a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't write about this till now. Learned about Peaceful Pet Aquamation from my Vegan Vet. Felt in my heart this was what I should do and was right. Asked Peaceful Pet Aquamation for a lock of her angelic golden fur to always remember Somang. Received the lock of hair and remains in the most elegant small casket with her footprint on the top. Cried for hours looking at it. I rarely leave reviews, but felt compelled to leave one for Peaceful Pets. I just lost my two dogs within a month of each other. Anyone who loves their pets knows how hard it is to lose a family member, needless to say two of them that quickly in sequence. Anyone how loses their beloved pets also knows how hard the process can be. With that said, in the midst of morbid considerations, Peaceful Pets was a pleasure to work with, and I felt that they handled the aftercare process as carefully, and with as much love as I did for my dogs during their lives. What they say on their website is entirely true. They are pet lovers themselves and will treat your pet with aftercare in a manner that your beloved pet deserves.
