Was here Saturday night for a few hours with some friends . Our waitress (don't remember her name , but had the insulin pump) was nothing short of amazing , I mean perfect . She was so friendly , attentive and on top of everything . I have not seen this quality of food and service in many years .We ordered multiple times and had stuff brought out at different times . The stuffed potatoes are straight up next level , perfectly cooked and flavorful to the max . Wings are the best I have had in the state of VA period . Cooked to perfection with that perfect crunch . The mouth watering flavor was seriously top notch . Since I am allergic to shrimp I didn't get to have any but the smell was so good . The guys that ate the shrimp praised them so much I was jealous . They do have live music on certain days , I would check the schedule to see who is playing and if it is your kind of music . If you are looking for a place to hang with friends , grab a cold one or killer food and service then this is your place . Went in after a round of golf since it was close to the course. Normal decor for a tavern with a large stage area and billiards tables in the rear. Sat and waited a bit for menus even though we were told to seat ourselves. Sodas and water a little slow to arrive. I ordered the bacon burger with sweet potato fries and onion rings. The burger was huge and delicious. The onion rings were ok. The sweet potato fries were steak fry cut, and were excellent. The only negative to the experience was the slow service on a pretty quiet afternoon - there might have been three other active tables while we were there. read more

The exact vibe you expect from a local bar: lots of "hey there buddy"'s & church hugs! lol. Great at-home and welcomed feel! The place was pretty crowded but we still got our feel and drinks very quickly. Their Old Fashion (the 'Coy Fashion') was perfect and the food was tasty! Sorry I didn't get a pic of the steak bites. I called myself just nibbling one and taking a pic after but the pic never happened. I devoured those delicious steak bites! Check this place out guys! We came in on Opening night and it appears it was mostly by reservation but the staff was amazing they accommodated us in a beautiful round table. The food was very good and the ambience was great everyone was having a great time. There is definitely room for improvement but overall great. I will come back and I wish the venue the best the did an excellent job although it was a grand opening and the place was packed. Awesome way to pivot shows endurances. If they do that on opening day can only imagine how well they will do moving forward. read more

Came here for trivia night with friends. We got there around 6 and it wasn't crowded. I had reserved a table so we were seated quickly. Closer to trivia time more people started coming. My one friend got the chicken tenders and fries for her granddaughter and the tenders looked great not the typical freezer chicken strip. Another friend got their taco special 3 for $8. I got the bacon cheeseburger with fries and broccoli. We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer but they brought out the buffalo chicken dip by mistake. So we got to try both. The chicken dip was pretty good with celery. The crab dip was really good. You could taste the crab in it and it wasn't an overwhelming cream cheese taste like some places. The trivia was fun, it was our first time playing and we got 2nd place!!The prices are great, the portions and flavor is great too. Nice rebrand from the original. Good food with very large portions. The service was fast and waitstaff very friendly. The live music did run over when it was supposed to end, and karaoke was supposed to start. But still enjoyable nonetheless. However it is very warehouse feeling inside, very open with not a lot of decor, minus the bar and pool tables. read more

It's the kind of place where you can go for dinner and end up hanging out for a while. I decided to try this place after seeing it promoted on social media. I expected more. Really not much atmosphere and frankly, unwelcoming. Only place in town I know of that doesn't offer draft beer. Service was slow considering the number of wait staff, and not very friendly. As they say, there are no second chances when it comes to first impressions. read more

I love Peake tavern! We've been coming here for around a year every Sunday for karaoke previously known as creek bar . There are a lot of regulars here and it definitely makes you feel at home and not overly crowded. The menu has many bar food favorites with an elevated twist. I love that their sauces and pizza dough are made in house the crust is nice and crispy with a good chew. The hen house pizza was delicious with a savory sweet balance from the honey bbq sauce. Other favorites are the onion rings because of its extra crispy batter and the XL mozzarella sticks and the burgers are huge and super juicy! I'm so relieved to see them back and excited to try the new menu additions! read more

Here's the updated version with that point added, blended in cleanly: --- Tried **The Peake Tavern (formerly Creek Bar)** last night for the first time--and most likely the last, at least for now. I'll start with the positives. It's a local business, it was busy, and it appeared well-staffed. I counted around five or six bartenders and waitresses, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked appetizing. Now the negatives. When walking in, we had to pass directly through cigarette smoke at the front entrance--not a great first impression. We were greeted promptly at the door, which was a solid start, but things went downhill quickly after that. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes to be greeted by a waitress. That never happened. During that time, four different waitresses walked by--three made eye contact--but no one asked if we had been helped. As a former waiter myself, customers shouldn't have to flag someone down. If a table has guests with no food or drinks, someone should check on them. We gave ourselves a time limit before deciding to leave. Ironically, when that time came, the waitress serving the table next to us stood within arm's reach finishing an order on her tablet. She never acknowledged us or asked if we needed anything. As we got up to leave, she told us to "have a good evening." Overall, everything felt exactly the same as it was when this place was **Creek Bar**--same issues, same decorum, new name. One more thing: if you're calling yourself a *tavern*, you should have a solid draft beer selection--at least 8 to 10 beers on tap. What I saw was a home kegerator with two taps. I never even had a chance to see if they actually had draft beer, but there were plenty of bottles and cans. If nothing changes, this place will likely close and reopen under a different name--only to fall short again. Suggestions: * Move the smoking area away from the front entrance, possibly to the corner area. * Assign designated tables to waitstaff to prevent customers from being overlooked. Similar to the past location that was there but with a different setup, a third pool table and a whole area dedicated to queen machines and other video games. The smoking area out back is a great new addition since I don't smoke and before if there were people in the front smoking it could be a deterrent for some. The staff is awesome with some familiar and new faces. Food is hands down amazing, and though they dont have drafts yet (I heard they're working on getting some) they have a good selection of liquors and local craft beers as well as your usual domestics. All in all it was a great experience and I will definitely be back soon! read more
