There is no one behind us and this is the third time we've tried to get safety check here. We have been loyal customers for years doing maintenance on our cars. They are not very happy even when I get my oil change, but I've just let it go and tried to understand. This was the final straw. We will not be coming back to this place...so disappointing.

If I could I would give them a 0. 2 and a half years ago, I took my car to Pearl City Auto Works for a brake job. It cost me almost $5k to do it. Now they told me I gotta spend another $2400 to fix the same problem. My other half and I talked business with the owner's daughter Shay Nakamura about the situation and asked certain questions and she couldn't give any feedback to the situation at hand. She tried to give me a discount, but I don't think it was enough, considering I know for a fact they are charging me 3-4x the actual cost for the parts and then will eventually get more money back because of the cores. I text the number they text me with explaining my situation and there were no response. 2 phone numbers they text me from I left a text message, no response. That right there shows me that that they have poor communication skills. Communication was done with text. To be honest, I prefer real conversation with a person/company. I believe that they either did a poor job 2 and a half years ago or the quality of parts they used suck!! I got ripped off the first time and they tried to do that again the second time around. And it was the first of the month so everyone and their mama was at Oil Changers needing a new inspection at 8am. Look. I waited in that line for 3 hours! But I was in my car and just watched videos. Totally my fault. If you come during the middle of the month, I feel like you'd be fine. Don't go first thing in the morning to "beat the crowd" because you ain't beating these guys. I was there at 8am and the line was already to the road. Then someone pulled up behind me so I was stuck. Fml! Not their fault. They have one inspector and one bay dedicated to that inspection. It took about 25mins per car. And yes because my d*mb*ss let my safety inspection expire, I had to wait 3 hours to get the safety inspection, go to the actual dmv to pay in person, then go back to oil changers to get the safety inspection sticker. That process didn't change. And when I came back in the afternoon, there wasn't much of a line, and since I just needed the sticker, the guy just updated his computer and put in on real quick. I don't know if there are quicker places on the island. I'm not that cool. But just don't go on the first or last of the month and you should be good. No appointment necessary just show up, and bring a snack.

The customer service was that of a busy work place but respectful. The benefits still the same. Being on hawaii makes the cost so worth it. I rotate my tires every-time I change my oil so this alone makes it so worth it. The only downside is parking. Make your appointment early so you can get in and out.

Frustrating experience here…read more I was offered an appointment via yelp on a Saturday. After playing phone tag, the guy that answers the phone says Saturday isn't even an option as their alignment guy isn't in on Saturdays. I scheduled for today (Monday). Wheels were aligned in about an hour. I thought things were good to go. My tire pressure light went on while I was driving from the shop to work in Honolulu. I called the shop immediately and someone said a manager would call me back. No call ever came today. I took my car to get my tire pressure checked. Only one tire was filled to 33. The rest of them were filled to 18!! My goal tire pressure per the manufacturer is 35. Now I'm questioning the entire accuracy of my service. My two rear tires are brand new (literally days old). The only reason I didn't get my wheels aligned at Lex Brodie's where I got the tires, is because they don't align Audis. Super disappointed in the service here. I've never in all my years of driving had tire pressure that low, and to have it that low after a service is astonishing. Update: 6 days later and no response from the store via phone or yelp. My message got left on read.

Ed! Went here for a safety check…read more I am very meticulous & careful with my vehicle so when my brake light didn't come on I was confused. Ed took the time to see why it wasn't working correctly & I had shared with him that earlier in the day I had removed my spare. He noticed the wires weren't connected properly (from the place I just left) allowed me to reconnect so I wouldn't "fail" inspection & have to take another day to come back to redo it. So grateful to Ed! I get free safety checks thru the dealership but to me it's worth paying to get in & out instead of having to drop off my vehicle for the day. Totally worth the extra low cost. My suggestion, if you're in a hurry in the morning, you're better off coming at 530am to be at the front of the line. I arrived at around 630am and I was the 5th car in line waiting. I waited till about 845am before it was my turn. So if you're thinking it'll go by quickly...it does not. So dedicating a good portion of your early morning to get your safety check done is a must. There's only one guy who's able to do the safety checks so being patient will go a long way. I believe the only days they don't do safety checks are Wednesday's and Sunday's. As long as that one uncle is in working, they're able to do it. Been going to this location for years and have no complaints about this specific service. $26 and they take both cash and card. Also please be aware of the curb in front of Hi Runner's next to Oil Changers. I seen a few people drive over it and scrape the underneath of their car lol.

I called them up and they were able to take me the same day, got it done in a few hours and were able to use my own provided parts. The shop is extremely clean and the bay looks organized, seems they work on many different makes and models. After picking up my car they didn't install the O2 sensors because I didn't need it. The guy at the front went through what the cause was and gave me some tips on preventing it and they didn't even charge me! Car is running great so far. Great service and they earned a new customer, I will be back to service my other cars here soon, highly recommend this shop.

The first few times I've gone to get my safety check done, I never needed an appointment, and then the last time I tried, I was turned away because I didn't make an appointment on the same day. Then the following week, my husband tried to get his safety check done, and was told to just show up. I also docked a star just due to the fact that the customer service was pretty bad. They were very standoffish on the phone, and when I pulled up to the garage space, the guy who was receiving cars was extremely rude to me. If you need a last minute safety check, this place is good, but just make sure to call first before going straight there.
