PD is a cute little restaurant on Sunset in the Palisades. Been here many times, but when the pandemic hit, we were hoping it would stick around, and it sure did. We are so happy that PD is now open in full force serving its customers. For appetizers, we ordered the Yellow Tail Collar, very tasty! For the main, we ordered Soup Bowl with Shrimp and Crispy Beef which comes with some rice on the side. For drinks, we had Hot Tea ($2.50) and some Nishinomiya sake wine. Pearl Dragon has the most fresh fish I have had in a LONG time. The sushi is phenomenal, the drinks were great, and the entire staff was welcoming and kind. I ordered the Makinoto roll and some miso soup to pair with the sake and it was SO good! My roommate ordered the potstickers and said they're some of the best he has had in a long time. 3.5 stars for the Pearl Dragon which is the oldest restaurant in Pacific Palisades. It used to be called House of Lee and it was the only bar In PP. They have definitely evolved with the upscale neighborhood and it's quite lovely and quaint inside! We had Shishito peppers that were not too spicy Crispy tuna on rice cakes which I should have said no siracha sauce on top. Siracha ruins everything for me! I have been in Los Angeles my whole life and Pearl Dragon might be my favorite restaurant. I truly cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Everything was amazing: the drinks, the service, the food and even the people there. We had just about every roll + the udon bowl with Waygu and everything was fantastic. We tried the Surf & Turf roll, all honesty was nervous to try it. But it ended up being not only the best roll I had that night but the best roll I have ever had. The soup was extremely extremely good because of the udon and tofu. The tofu reminds me of elastic balls. The udon soup broth was extremely hot it was really good as well! The people there are also extremely friendly! However I don't like how they got rid of the candles and how dim the lights are. The inside of the restaurant is also really dark I almost tripped and f#cking died!!! When I was done with my food, I ordered mochi. I recommend the strawberry, mango, and vanilla mochi. Very poor experience with Pearl Dragon... ordered curbside pickup, got there and was told the order would not be ready for another 20 mins and that I should come back (so much for curbside pickup). After 20 mins went in to pick up our order and was told that one of the three dishes ordered was sold out. Offered Pot Stickers as a consolation prize and told it would be another ten mins. Went out to move my illegally parked car (since I thought I would just be running in and out) - the whole 'curbside pickup' was now a very distant memory, came back ten mins later, got the order and went home. And guess what, no pot stickers (surprise!), and the two items from the original order were cold and congealed by now. Really disappointing. And the two young people working front of house could not have cared less. I don't think I heard the words 'sorry' or 'apologies' at any point. read more

Although we had reservations we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated by an unpleasant hostess. For appetizers we ordered the spring rolls. They were under seasoned and very greasy. For main, we got the chicken teriyaki plate which was horrible. The chicken was rubbery and the plate was overflowing with uncooked green beans. We also got the sesame beef. It was inedible to the point we had to return the dish after one bite. We also got two sushi rolls. The fish had a weird after taste and the rolls were soaked in sauce (probably to distract from the low quality fish). Overall, it was a bad experience and we will definitely not come back. read more

Went to Pearl Dragon today and had a very dissatisfying experience. While the service was fine and the staff were nice, the sushi was pretty awful. The fish did not seem fresh, the avocado was very unripe, and rice seemed stale. However, the main reason why I am leaving this review is because I have a gluten intolerance. I asked the waiter for tamari which he provided, and then when my nigiri arrived it was covered in regular soy sauce which meant I could not eat any of it. My boyfriend ate the nigiri so we would not send it back, and then got a horrible stomach ache afterwards. Avoid this place, there's much better sushi places. read more

When we first moved to pacific palisades we tried out "the house of lee", the restaurant that was in this location. I have eaten chinese food all over the world, and the food from the House Of Lee was the worst I'd ever had. We had to toss it. So imagine my surprise when we got dinner from The pearl Dragon last night and it was almost as bad. The noodle bowl was salty and goopy. The noodles were overcooked . I don't know about the stir fried vegetables that came with it because they were hardly there. The avocado roll was also a soggy mess, and the fried rice was just some old rice that had been tossed in a wok with some soy sauce for a minute (Again, vegetables missing). We threw the edamame away. You don't have to worry about leftovers, nothing is worth keeping. read more

We ordered Garlic/Ginger sauteed vegetables, add chicken. Chicken is tough/chewy and no taste. The vegs were okay, but inconsistently cooked - the onion and broccoli were barely cooked, others limp; clearly the cooks aren't sequencing the vegs. For a garlic/ginger dish, it was super bland. We also ordered 'cirspy' spring rolls: The positive was that they were crispy, and vegs had flavor. The big negative was they were super doughy inside and the dough itself was way too thick.. I've eaten spring rolls for decades; probably among the worst. The filling itself, while tasty, was skimpy. Overall, a pass this round. One upside is "Mina" the manager kindly agreed to reverse the charge. read more

Pearl dragon is a go to place in Pacific Palisades for me, or at least it used to be more so. I've been going to this restaurant for over 10 years, and it truly is a great place. The staff is extremely friendly, and the food comes out quickly and efficiently. It's a great date spot, the atmosphere is quiet (if no annoying children) and calm. You must get the spicy tuna on crispy rice, it's fantastic. I also recommend the spicy garlic edamame, chicken satay, the salmon teriyaki, filet mignon noodle bowl, rock shrimp roll, and szechuan green beans. I would do family style if with a group of 2 or more. Sharing is definitely the move for this place. I'm giving this place a 3 star review because it just does not live up to the same standard that it used to. It is still a great restaurant that you have to try at some point, but it has definitely gotten worse over the years. read more
