What happened Pearl? We arrived at 5:30 on a Friday. 1st, my family and I were accosted by a drunk man leaving the restaurant without a mask. He was struggling to speak and he was blabbering about whether he could drive his boat to Barnstable. He also wanted to feel my shirt. My kids were rattled on several levels. 2nd, we sat outside in front under their new COVID-related tent. No issues there but we were sat next to two very drunk women in their late 20's that were SO over served it was ridiculous (and I used to bartend). Every other word out of their mouth was a loud swear, e.g., "what a fu@@ing c@cksucking a$$hole!!@. It was nuts and made things very uncomfortable. Are they simply not shutting off anyone anymore? 3rd, the place has always been casual but our server wearing his hat backwards? Cmon man, for $250 for 2 adults and 2 children, let's clean it up a bit. 4th, food was good, as always. UPDATE. I received a message from the manager that: 1. Acknowledged awareness of the very drunk man that accosted my family and apologised for his behavior. Apparently they directed him to the harbor master; 2. Noted that servers are allowed to wear baseball caps in any direction they do desire (sideways, backwards, etc); and 3. More or less blaming me for not bringing to the management's attention all of the belligerent drunken activity. Maybe a refresher in their TIPS (Training in Prevention Services) certification is in order. It's ALWAYS the restaurant's responsibility to maintain the peace, not the people paying the restaurant to eat there. Perhaps they need a bouncer to maintain order during their Happy Hour that ends of 5. Again, I've been in the industry and this was wild, wild, wild. If you are a family, I would avoid this restaurant until they can get things back in control. read more

Hmmm... probably our fault... as only 1 out of 5 eat seafood and we're dining at a restaurant in the heart of the harbor on good ol' Cape Cod- some might say we were asking for trouble? But no, we were just looking for a restaurant on the water that would make all of our palates happy... and looking at the menu, we thought this was going to be our place. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Nice waitstaff, and a casual, fun Cape Cod vibe, but the food (at best) was described by those in our party as "not that bad", "fine" and mediocre... and in case you were wondering, the "not that bad" came from the Pesto where's the Chicken? Alfredo w/Parmesan Ziti eaters, and the "it's fine" came from the cooked rare when asked for medium & bland tasting NY strip eater. Now the over-powering spicy as hell Peri Peri Chicken eater takes the blame for not knowing that Peri Peri seasoning was made with chili peppers- but what's the story with a restaurant in the harbor on good ol' cape cod for serving a mediocre Colossal lobster roll ? All were in agreement that yup it sure was big- but that's all that could be said about it. Ok so what was good - the side of French fries and apparently the Calamari appetizer, but not the rubbery nachos. Nope. If I was rating on my food experience alone (I started w/the bland, cooked wrong hunk of meat aka NY Strip, but then had to switch with the too hot to handle took over the entire taste of the dish Peri Peri Chicken eater) I would have given it a 2, but others said it should be a 2 1/2 -3 ... so taking in the combined ratings, the nice wait staff and the cape cod vibe, I felt I had to give it a 3. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for drinks, food and, of course, oysters. We were warmly greeted and given a table on the deck. I started with a Cape Cod Blonde and we ordered up some oysters, tuna sashimi and lobster artichoke dip. The sashimi was outstanding with a wasabi encrusted sear and light soy based sauce. The dip was nice but wasn't as hot (temp) as I would have liked. Our sever was attentive and quite knowledgeable on the menu items. I ordered the Cajun tuna steak sandwich. It was cooked exactly as ordered and well spiced with a dry rub. Not a sushi grade cut but very tasty. Friendly staff, great food and good friends made for an excellent experience. read more

Not really a fan. Have tried it for dinner 3 times and was not impressed. Tries to be fancier than it is, if that makes sense - the tuna sashimi was OK and the Frutti di Mare was pretty lame. The one high point is the bar, they have a nice deck area off it that usually features a raw bar and live music. The downside of the bar is that you have to walk though the whole dining room just to get to it. When they first opened the deck bar was open-air with heat lamps at bight (it's now enclosed with vinyl, on account of mosquitos I think) and could be accessed from outside. read more

Pearl is honestly one of the best in Fleet. Our bartender Cameron was awesome, super friendly and quick with service bar and getting drinks! Will be going back to see him for sure! He's absolutely the type that would easily build a following. A keeper for sure! read more

The Pearl is a must stop in Wellfleet. We always come here when we visit town to hit the ground running with oysters little necks and cocktails. There 3-5 seafood happy hour is nice. Farmers Daughter drink tastes amazing. Defiantly a busy restaurant. It has a view of wellfleet harbor and live music. Never had a bad meal here either. read more

Great margaritas and the steamers were so fresh with no grit at all. Lobster roll very light in mayo and lots of chunky fresh meat. Wait staff friendly on top of things and knowledgeable. The ambiance is local and swordfish with selection of sauce fresh and delicious. Must go if staying locally. read more

We popped in here for a simple meal and it did not disappoint. The hubs started with the "happy hour" raw clams (special price between 3-5 pm) and raved about them. We both had the excellent clam chowder that I believe had a hint of sherry. For a main course, we both decided to do salads. I had the beet salad with arugola, pistachios, and a beautiful croquette of fried goat's cheese. A delightful orange vinaigrette was served on the side. He had the Green Goddess salad and was equally as pleased. My special cocktail (The Farmer's Daughter) was delish! Tito's with cucumber, mint, grapefruit and lime. We came to Pearl because they had a good website that focused on their commitment to local. Also, it was the only restaurant open until 9:30 in the area (open until 10, but when we called they said they may close earlier because it was slow). It is located on the harbor in a beautiful setting. Our first impression upon walking into the restaurant was that the tables were messy and there was a lot of fried food on the tables, so we proceeded with caution. My husband asked about the deck upstairs, and we decided to get seated there. Aside from one other couple, we were the only ones on the deck! It was awesome! The food was overall awesome. We got oysters ( best I ever had!), clams, which I ordered with cilantro instead of the hot pepper, and swordfish and tuna, both grilled. My husband got the mango salsa/swordfish and I the tuna ( rare) with lobster aioli sauce. When the stood came I realized that it wasn't the right sauce for my fish and ordered some of the mango sauce. The aioli did not let the fish shine. Both the swordfish and the tuna was very fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauces needed more love, for example, the mango one could have been more finely diced and more cilantro. The lobster aioli sauce completely covered the tuna and looked gross so I wiped it off ( it tasted like mayo). The waitress Diana was amazing and friendly. I recommend this restaurant but to proceed with caution when ordering. Also, sit up on the deck if possible, even if you have to wait. One thing- I wish the menu at the restaurant reflected the values that were represented on the menu and for this I give it 4 out of 5, along with the refinement on the details in the sauce. The food is pretty good - comes out right away and is reasonably priced...but the shorter hostess who has frequently been there this summer is a HUGE negative for Pearl. She is very uncooperative on multiple occasions. Rude to guests young and old in multiple different parties that came in before and after us every time we have visited this summer. On the most recent occasion - We arrived early when the band had wrapped up for their 3-5 happy hour set. She was aloof in where we could sit - we requested sitting on the patio where high tops and low tops were available for our party size. But the hostess said we couldn't sit there (they do not take reservations and there wait no wait and no call ahead list). Was rude about it when we asked why because tables were available. She sat us inside. Once we sat we simply asked the waitress if we could potentially move outside. The waitress was happy to ask for us to another hostess/ the manager and move us outside to one of the open tables. (The hostess also told an older couple that they couldn't sit on the deck upstairs and that bar seating would "better for them" they just wanted a table in sun though - they were upset and left). The initial experience was bad this time, and along with similar interactions with this hostess in the past make us not want to return to Pearl. Please do something about this hostess' attitude. read more

Stopped in to the restaurant mid afternoon with a group of four for drinks and to listen to some live music. Caught the last set of the band which played some nice Americana style music. The acoustics were good the the sound levels just right. It was an open air atmosphere looking out over a harbor across the street. Beer selection was filled with local craft, imports and national domestics. Ordered an appetizer of oysters to share and enjoyed the fresh taste and horseradish and vinegar adds. I love this place! Have already been here twice in just five days. The first time was for dinner, the second for happy hour. Four dinner the group had two dozen oysters for appetizers and I had the shrimp and linguini for dinner. The oysters were spectacular and the shrimp was fresh and sweet. When we came for happy hour (3-5pm) we again got two dozen oysters and the one pound lobster. Even though we didn't get bibs and the lobster was a tad messy to break down, the sweetness of the meat and more than made up for it. The only downside is how hot this place gets. The windows in the back patio are left open but the bar area and the restaurant have a few ceiling fans that do not do much to cool down the place. If you can grab a seat under one of these fans I suggest you take it. read more

Had an unfortunate experience at the Pearl recently. Say at the bar - and bartender was super inattentive, overwhelmed, and disorganized. Waiting over 20+ minutes for a drink, while others around us were served. Hate to complain but this was a bad bad night. Recommend they staff 3 bartenders as opposed to only 2. Weak sauce Pearl. After not being able to get near Beachcombers, we checked yelp and found Pearl to try. What a gem. So glad Beachcombers was unable to get us in their lot at 12:15 that day. There is no way that Beachcombers could come close to Pearl's food, service or value. My family has gone to the Pearl a few times and had nothing but positive experiences, but unfortunately we will not be returning. We alerted the waitress when we arrived that someone at our table had a severe sesame allergy. After ordering our meals, my sister with the sesame allergy noticed there was sesames on her meal even after being reassured none were in this meal. We kindly alerted the waitress and the meal was sent back. When the meal returned, there was both sesame oil and additional sesame seeds in another component of her meal. Since the rest of our table was almost finished eating, my sister ate some of the remaining food from our dishes and switched meals with another at our table. Our waitress apologized and we personally asked for a manager to come speak with us since this could be a life threatening situation. The manger came over to speak with us, but the meal was never taken off the bill even after the entire ordeal. Being that a bite of her meal would have meant a trip to the hospital for us all, I was hoping this situation would have been taken more seriously by the entire staff. The Pearl is great if you stick to what they do best. That would be the raw bar and fried fish. Every time I get the Harbor Platter, cole slaw, fried fish, clams, shrimp and scallops, I'm never disappointed. Never greasy, super fresh fish. That's after starting with a dozen raw littlenecks. A pint or two later and I'm happy. Steer clear from the fancy sounding specials and save them for a fancy restaurant someplace else. After a beautiful drive to Wellfleet and a boat ride in the harbor, we were starving on the afternoon of the 4th of July. The Bookstore Cafe down the street was packed so badly it was overflowing - people were dining and drinking in the street! I was just out of surgery on crutches, so I was not about to battle my way through that crowd only to get smushed for another several hours. Pearl was down the street, unassuming and quiet looking, so we decided to head there. My boyfriend took a look at the menu and let me know to come on over because they had a raw bar happy hour! Oysters, and clams at a discount, and lobsters for $10! It was the perfect late lunch for a great day out in the sun. There was also live music, which we did not expect, and that added a whole new outdoorsy just-chillin-with-my-Sam Summer-and-seafood vibe. There was a good crowd, too - not over crowded, but definitely hopping. It was a GREAT meal. The lobsters were a good size for $10 - they didn't skimp. And the quality of the oysters was good, too. The clams, I must say, were the juiciest and tastiest I have had, like, ever. We had fried calamari, a generous portion and tender and tasty as well. My friend had a veggie burger, and said it was the texture of "an undercooked falafel," in a good way. The service was great, too! Overall the food and ambiance were perfect for lunch at this little cape village. I would chose Pearl over a super crowded bar any day. read more

I'm confused by this place. Menu looks interesting, service is great, fun list of cocktails, and of course incredible location in the Wellfleet wharf but the food itself is pretty drab and served almost fast food style-lots of paper and plastic. We got the mussels which were good in and of themselves, fresh, plump and flavorful, but they came in a weird coconut pineapple sauce. Id' get it if it was more of a thai curry coconut thing, but all you taste is sickly sweet pineapple next to the briny savory mussels, and it just doesn't work. Next up was the fish tacos and which were really disappointing. Portion of fish is pretty small in each taco (two tacos per order)and they are topped with mostly shredded iceberg. Menu said they would come in a cucumber sauce which led me to think a tzatziki creamy style sauce, but it was actually just some chopped cucumbers and onions. That's it - no seasoning at all. Very bland and tasteless. They are served with small black plastic cup sides of guacamole and salsa neither of which were homemade. Come for the drinks and view but that's about it. read more

There are a few times in life when a appetizer gets you so ill that the room spins and you vomit within 20 min. of eating. Just tonight, I had one of those experiences - the raw little neck clams. While I acknowledge and accept the risk of eating such foods, the manager/owner did not accept any responsibility for the food served. Instead of showing the slightest bit of concern, I was accused of excessive drinking and spending too much time in the sun. She did remove the meal I ordered, and did not have a chance to eat. My party, however, had to ask for, on my behalf, a glass of water and an extra napkin. The lack of ownership for the situation and paucity of concern for my well-being was more than disappointing. My only recommendation would be to avoid the Pearl and dine at any one of the fine establishments found I the Lower Cape. read more

Went there tonight for my wife's birthday. We were seated quickly on the rooftop deck overlooking the harbor. Hard to complain about the ambiance on a sunny summer night. Waitstaff were attentive to exactly the right degree. A bowl of fresh warm rolls and a quick delivery of drinks were a good sign. Appetizers were nigh on perfect. 6 clams on the half shell (large and incredibly fresh, cocktail sauce was deconstructed so you could add as much horseradish as you wanted), clams casino (6 large clams with great breadcrumb and garlicky topping with a lot more going on that just bread crumbs, good sized slab of bacon, wife loved them) and tuna sashimi (among the best things I've ever eaten; the combination of the perfectly seared tuna with just enough crunch on the edges, the wasabi, the lemon beurre blanc, the soy reduction and the shredded carrot and daikon oriental slaw was as good as food gets) kept us very happy - I was glad that I could take the half of the third roll and mop up the rest of the sauce on the tuna. Entrees did not let down the appetizers. I went with the fish tacos, which featured large chunks of greaseless, very fresh tasting fried cod along with shredded lettuce and onions, an avocado-lime-crema mix that paired perfectly with the slightly spicy salsa fresca, and a really solid cole slaw. Wife ordered the broiled haddock, which was huge and delicious, with a side of red bliss potatoes (think mini baked potatoes) and sauteed vegetables (cauliflower, green beans, red peppers, I forget what else) cooked to her preferred degree of doneness and also seriously tasty. Solid tap selections to complement the food - mostly regional and all tasty, Great food, friendly service, great atmosphere. We were very well pleased by Pearl and will be back again. read more

After much discussion we decided to head with our party of four to wellfleet and Pearl! We timed it at 6 to beat the crowds and that worked. Easy parking, no wait, wonderful! The raw oysters and clams were excellent! I would pass on the baked oysters next time. Too much ginger. 3 of us had the scrod and one the scallops! Fresh and tender and oh so good! generoua portions too. The vegetables were fresh and cooked right not limpy. Our waitress served us well and had local color that we loved. She earned her tip which sadly I dont get to say enough! We sat on the screened in porch by the salt marsh which was beautiful! I highly recommend the porch!
