I rate Pearl Tavern 2 Star. Everybody was nice and has smiling face and asking us if everything is ok. The restaurant is very clean but chilly inside . The food was served quickly. Food is ok. Not great that I'd say I will go back there once a month. My mom ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and some vegetable. She said, the mashed potato is great. My dad ordered chicken wings and crab cake and he said it's ok. My sister ordered the lobster Mac n cheese. I tried the lobster and it taste good. I saw large lobster in her dish. I ordered salmon in a bed of salad. I had to send back my salmon because it wasn't cooked well. The middle part is cold. I thought they will give me a new piece of fish since I started eating the outer part of the fish. Then I was surprised that they gave me back the same salmon that I sent back . It means that they put this contaminated food back in their grill. So this is a turn off for me. Again the place is very clean and I like clean restaurants . But I probably won't come back because of my salmon incident. read more

Wow. Very disappointed in Pearl Tavern service. Wife and I were excited to finally get there. We've experienced Summit Grill and 3rd Street Social and have nothing but great reviews of those restaurants who have same owners. Appetizer came out before we received our drinks, Drinks took over 20 minutes to get to us. There was some type of paper in the Blue Crap Dip we ordered so we sent it back. Waitress was unfriendly and slow. Only when we mentioned all this to Manager then service started to get improve with more smiles. Manager was nice, and comped our appetizers, waitress started to be more friendly. But for our first time there, it was less than satisfactory which leaves a bad taste. Would frankly rather go to Capital Grille, Eddie V's, Summit Grill, Jax Fish for same level price style restaurants. This is unfortunate because Lee's Summit needs more of this $$-$$$ level restaurants. However, the ceviche, blue crap dip when right, the mushroom salmon and Chilien sea bass were great. #pleaseimproveserviceandsmiles. read more

Went there last night (a Tuesday) and had a 5:30 dinner reservation. Food was perfect. Fresh and tasty. Service however was tragic. Server seemed to have too many tables. He served the salad course and then plopped down the dinners while still trying to eat the salad. Then DURING dinner he pressed us for our dessert choices and served them as we still had our forks in our hands eating dinner. Don't know what was going on but be mindful if you are expecting service that matches their prices. Just saying. read more

Just left Pearl. So the decor was beautiful! The bathrooms are fairly clean and everything was fairly nice however the food I would give at best a D. After an hour and a half wait my children compared their meals to the cafeteria food at school. If I'm gonna pay 10 bucks for a kids meal it better not compare to the two dollar meal I buy for them at school. My food was cold and greasy and now I have a stomachache. I don't think I want to try it again however my husband thinks that we should give it another shot after they work out the kinks. Hopefully they improve big time! read more

The food was wonderful and the service was good. The atmosphere was not quite what I expected for the prices charged. It use to be a sports bar. I think they just took down the TVs. That aside we went on a Monday for my birthday. So no wait. I got the sea scallops. They were in a mushroom sauce/gravy which was a bit odd. Tasty but odd. Served w asparagus and mashed potatoes. My husband had the seafood pot pie. It had shrimp and crab. It was fantastic. We ordered the crispy fried crab roll as an appetizer. While it was good, I'd pass on it. It was basically a rolled crab Rangoon. And served w an apricot and jalapeño jelly. The jelly was just weird. The Experience was lovely w one small exception. I wanted to order an appetizer off the Happy Hour menu. And was told that I couldn't order happy hour items in the dining section. (It's one big room). The server gladly offered to move us. But I was there for a nice birthday dinner that doesn't mean sitting at the bar and ordering my food. We'll go back. Seems like a good place to meet friends at the bar and enjoy happy hour. I have been here twice. The first time, the order taker got the order wrong and we were given an option for something else on the menu. The second time, I ordered a Miller lite on tap, and noticed it was cloudy. It didn't taste like Miller lite, so I asked if someone could check on it, cause I have a wheat allergy. Sure enough, someone messed with the taps and I was drinking Blue Moon. I had only had two sips, so no big damage, but I was disappointed that management never even came out to see if I was ok. I really wanted to like this place. We love seafood and want to encourage the very accomplished proprietors to up their game for this concept. Happy hour was somewhat disappointing. Drink offerings were poor, especially wine. Franzia? Really? Calamari was very good with a nice trio of sauces, crab dip was greasy and uninspired. On an earlier visit I tried encrusted sole. Went in at 8:45pm on Sunday and by the time someone came to the door she said we close in 10 minutes and refused to seat us. According to their web page, they are open until 10pm and the kitchen does not close until 9pm. They need to make sure their staff know their hours and quit taking short cuts!! read more

I ate at Pearl's a couple of months ago (shrimp poboy) and was not only disappointed in the taste of the sandwich, but also was sick to my stomach as a result. My wife went recently for lunch against my advice. She had the blackened tilapia sandwich which also made her sick. We will not return to this restaurant. read more

We had a reservation but had to wait a little bit to be seated, no big deal. The atmosphere is really nice and cozy. Our server recommended the hush puppies and we were excited for them, but both my husband and I found them to be burnt and not very tasty. They were very hard to bite into and chew - not sure if they were burnt or that's how they're cooked. I had grilled sea scallops and potatoes and found those to be well cooked and tasty. Disappointed with the food and the atmosphere. My husband and I have tried for weeks to get a reservation at Pearl since it was new and we'd heard it was so good. Finally we got in, making a reservation for Saturday night on a Tuesday for a party of 4; only 5:45 or after 8:30 was available. Again, excited that must be an indication that the food must be great. Our table wasn't available when we arrived, no seating available at the bar. The tables are super close to one another and diners are packed in. My feet couldn't touch the floor on the bench side of the table I was sitting on and it was super noisy. We had calamari and oysters Rockefeller for starters. The calamari was ordinary. The oysters Rockefeller were battered and fried, not a hit at our table. I had blackened swordfish with asparagus and corn/crab sauté. The swordfish was the thinest I've ever had and was drowned in a sauce. The corn/crab sauté was the highlight of my meal and the reason for my two stars instead of one. We felt the restaurant was overpriced and overrated. read more

This is a gem of a restaurant tucked away behind the Summit Woods Shopping Center. They have great fresh seafood and much to my husband's delight oysters on the half shell. The oysters are pretty pricey but there are a couple of options that are more reasonably priced. We love, love, love the Tavern Gumbo. It is served with black rice and is delicious! Had a reservation for 9 pm on a warm, muggy Friday night. You bet I was hungry, but I'm also not one to stand for long wait times. The place had obviousky been jammin all night so we wondered if our visit may get shortchanged. Au contraire mes amis! First off, superb waitress! My bad I forgot her name but she'll remember us: a whole lot of Russian chatter! Swift, authentic, didn't miss a beat. Now, the food. Unbelievably delicious was the consensus around the table. No sooner had our order been taken, the appetizers were there, bam! Then the salad and the soups arrived. All were perfectly sized portions and innovative presentation. I ordered the Coho, was told to expect it to come medium rare. Exactly, I replied, and it was fine. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were perfect and the portion was exactly right. So was the price. Two of us had the swordfish and two others the Cioppino. All were immensely enjoyed. There are other seafood restaurants in the metro where you'll be subjected to a much stuffier atmosphere. The Pearl has the feel of a "neighborhood joint": friendly staff, happy diners and lots of different areas in which you could dine as a large group or intimately in a quieter corner. To have had an experience like this at the end of most this staff's shift, I can hardly wait to go back! read more

First off the food is excellent! The service was spotty and the menu concept very odd. We went cause we love seafood and had heard theirs was very fresh. The fresh oysters (2.50-3.50 each) were very fresh and served perfectly, but only got to the table halfway thru entree even after 2 wait staff had gone to check on them...would have expected them as an appetizer ahead of the meal. Also one of my favorites and hard to find in kc is fried oysters...they do have them but you can only order them as a protein to go on a salad...$9.85 extra, but you cannot order them by themselves as an app or a side...why not??? Is this planned or only because their pos system won't take them and then why not fix it! My companion went ahead and got the soup and salad lunch and added them...they were excellent, easily best I've had in kc, succulent and NOT overcooked! So if you make them anyway why not be able to order them...irritating! I had the cioppino which was served in a large flat bowl which made it very nice to be able to see everything but let it cool a little too fast. Also had to ask a different server to bring me a spoon. (Yes you can use the mussel shells and bread for the sauce but I certainly prefer a spoon and normally you get one!) The cioppino was very nice, the sauce flavorful and a very nice variety of seafood in it all well cooked and the squid nice and tender not overdone and chewy. Great job. Staff were very nice and friendly but for 2 people eating lunch we ended up interacting with 4 different servers, a little odd again. Ladies next to us had a poor boy sandwich and a fish sandwich.... the fish fillet was large and served on a regular small hamburger bun which made it a little awkward to eat and the poor boy served on a soft deli bun was rather thin looking and seemed to be mainly lettuce and bread. I expect a poor boy to look kind of hefty and be able to see the fried goodies from the side...also a bit more effort on the type of breads for sandwiches would be helpful. Again food excellent, ambiance decent rendition of the recently so prevalent "industrial chic" look, service friendly but not very...(efficient/competent?) not sure exactly but it was irritating because the excellence of the seafood deserves better follow thru. read more

this is probably by far one of my favorite seafood places. the service was amazing and everyone is very kind and friendly. they all know the menu pretty well and explain everything in detail without attitude; and there is a large selection of things to chose from. the restaurant is dim and plays pop music but it isn't overly loud. this is a great restaurant and has very good relaxed vibes. however they are pricey. but it is worth it. i got seafood boil and was very satisfied. the bathrooms are also very clean as well as the rest of the restaurant. read more

My first two visits to Pearl, one at happy hour and one for lunch, were very good. My third visit not so much. Service was outstanding (not very busy) on a Wednesday night. One of my favorite dishes at other restaurants, lobster Mac and cheese, was extremely disappointing especially at $24.95. It was a nice size serving of cheese sauce, shell pasta and, maybe, 1/4 cup of lobster. Go to Nick and Jakes in OP to see what it should taste like. read more

Finally a true seafood place in Lee's Summit. Happy hour has great prices and plenty of small plates to pick from. Wide variety of choices for dinner. I went to brunch when they first started, the different mimosas flavor were great. One of them even hah sherbet in it! But I wish the brunch menu had more options on it. read more

Would be hard to do middle of the road seafood any better in Missouri. It's not super upscale but everything I have had is very good. Only issue I had was the woman who took our reservation messed it up. Honest mistake and they did their best to get us in as soon as possible. I do however suggest getting a reservation in the evenings. read more

This may well be one of the best restaurants in town. The Happy Hour menu is terrific with the $1.00 oysters, calamari, and shrimp. Their desserts are right up there with the best in town. Prices are reasonable for a seafood restaurant 1500 miles from any ocean. Don't fail to order the gumbo. It is wonderful. read more

We visited Pearl Tavern on its 4th evening and it was to die for! They were extremely busy but we had a reservation and were seated as soon as we walked in a few minutes early. Our server was incredibly well-versed in the meals, quick, and attentive, and everything came out almost shockingly quickly (but didn't overlap courses). My husband had oysters and said they were very good and we shared the crab dip, which was delicious. I had the mushroom stuffed salmon and my husband had the Chilean sea bass and both were perfection. I wish I had the words. We shared a slice of coconut cream pie and it was great. Every dish we saw go out around us was simply beautiful as well. The only drawback was the music, which wasn't terrible but was an odd choice and a bit loud for our taste--we were celebrating our anniversary and it cut in a bit to the romantic vibe (but the lighting was spot on). We were able to ignore it for the most part because we had food and drinks in front of us the entire time and we were eating instead of talking! :) This is a must-visit! read more

The reason for the lower rating is due to the restrictions regarding the bottomless mimosas that are not worth the price they charge.. When brunching with friends we attempted to order these and was abruptly told we first had to order an entree before we could order "bottomless mimosas" and they limit the drinks allowed to four an hour (doesn't sound like bottomless). Once we ordered we never got refills and my friends and I each spent $12.95 for for a small amount of mimosas that was mostly orange juice. We ordered a desert to share and we sat there for twenty minutes with no refills (not even on water). The seating is too close to other tables and the privacy level is limited because you can hear other people's conversations. The food was decent but a bit overpriced for certain entrees. To be honest I believe having a better server would have greatly helped the situation. I imagine this restaurant would be best Happy Hour with friends but I don't recommend brunching here because it's too expensive and not worth it. read more

I would have given it five stars, but the acoustics are not conducive to easy conversation when they are busy.
