I was threatened and intimidated today at Wheeling Illinois branch of Pearle Vision. Don't even consider going to this location. They can do anything to you. I went to get my $600 Prada glasses bought at Pearle Vision adjusted , and they broke my glasses. Staff first said they will replace it for me and upon talking to manager denied and Manager and staff said they can't do anything about it. I had bought this specific eyewear saving a lot everyday and working hard for it. I was heartbroken and was sitting in the store at a corner for few just to clear my head before I could drive. When I was all of a sudden called by a doctor at store who I had not seen all this while , who wasn't there when I spoke to manager or when my glasses were broken by staff . She threatened me and said I will get nothing from here and if I don't leave right away she will call cops on me. I was only customer at store , and they intimidated me saying they will call law enforcement sighting I was being rude to them, when all I was doing was sitting at a corner . When I left the store shaking and reached Pearle Vision Arlington heights store where I bought the glasses from, they said glasses were broken as person fixing it did not warm it up enough. Else such high end glasses are very resistant. They also were humble /educated and offered me some options. I really wish I went to them at first place. Don't go here. I repeat DONT GO HERE. The front desk staff are all very rude, demeaning, not friendly at all!! They don't have prescription boxes available which is strange to me as a lot of times they'll have them in stock and I'm used to doctors just giving it to me right then and there. Now I have to wait? I would rather order myself then. The doctor was very talkative and wouldn't let me get a word in. He went on and on and on about how dailies would be so helpful for me, in the end he asks me what's my decision. I'm like MONTHLY!! I'm not dumb and I know what's best for me and since I've tried the dailies before they're not good for me. Seems like he was pushing hard to sell for whatever reason. I also stupidly forgot to bring the box of the current lenses I was wearing and he explained to me that this isn't a problem and he will figure out what they are. I thought ok there's probably a serial number on them and what not. But no, he didn't obviously check as the ones he gave me for trial we're the same ones I'm already wearing. I found this out when I got home. I want to explore other brands as these aren't fully working for me. I guess that won't be happening. Those trials ended up tearing on me by the next day, hence why I wanna explore other brands. Sighs- I made a mistake due to COVID and me being so busy I totally messed up and missed two scheduled appointments. I know my fault and I feel dreadful!! I have never missed a doctors appointment in my life until this time. My bad right, and now I'm way to ashamed to even come back, but now I have to accept the prescription that is with same brand I've been unhappy with this entire time and I can't even pick them up from their clinic as they have to order them. I have gone to this Pearle vision for many years and have been very very satisfied with the service and especially the Doctors. Just this week, I broke my frames, not sure how but I did. Well I walked into the office to see what they could do. I just so happened the technician was working on other glasses. Th receptionist found a frames that might fit, brought them to the technician. He worked on them and got them to fit. Fifteen minutes I was out of the store with new glasses Great job !! read more

I went to get an estimate price for my glasses. I was there about 30 mon before closing and when I asked a young lady at the counter about an estimate, the first thing she said was "we are closing soon." Another technician next took my prescription gave me an estimate which was roughly $150-160 more than in three other places I checked for exactly the same frame and lenses. In addition, it was without HD feature. Overall, poor customer service, super high prices. read more

The receptionist is the primary reason for the negative review. The eye doctor performed a thorough exam and took the extra time to make sure the little details were just right, but that's where the positive feedback ends. So, I noticed that there's only 4 reviews for this location before this one. My review seems to stay consistent with the only other negative review despite it being 3 years old. "The older lady receptionist who wouldn't give her name" was the description the previous negative reviewer gave... The employees working on her day off told me her name is VICKI. If you go in to this little location you'll know it's her because she is 50+ years of age, has a foreign accent and has zero soft skills / customer service skills. In the past 10 years I've visited multiple eye doctors with different companies (LensCrafters, Target, Costco, etc). What do they have in common? Answer: They all have the same sequence of service and you always walk out the same day with a prescription! But, not this Pearle Vision - Vicki the receptionist told after the whole sequence of service (exam, sales pitch, etc) that she couldn't give me my contact prescription and that I would have to come back in for a second visit to "complete the eye exam." After explaining that I didn't have time and just wanted my prescription so I could order new contacts (a brand that they don't carry at their location) she rudely argued with me until I was fed up and ended up leaving because I was already running late for my next destination. Anyways, a week goes by and I run out of contacts, so I call in to have the prescription emailed to me. Vicki of all people picks up the phone (I recognize her voice) and rudely tells me the same thing and explains that they don't have the capability of emailing the signed prescription, so finally she "agrees" to fax it over... Why can't you email a prescription in 2018 is beyond me, but she ends up faxing the incorrect prescription with the brand of contacts that I did not want, fo figure. I was lucky to go back in on her day off, and get the prescription corrected, which resulted in an online cancelled order that I had to call in to pay for twice. The inconvenience and rudeness will not be forgotten and I hope someone from Pearle Vision management / corporate reads this review and finds a proper way to address the issue. I will never be back to this location again despite the great service I received from the eye doctor which is a shame. Sorry to the girls working on Vicki's off day if I was short with them because poor service provided to me previously by Vicki wasn't their fault. read more

I will never go back to this eye doctor again. Only because I received the worst customer service from the woman receptionist. She did not tell me her name, but she is an older woman. She would not even listen to what I was trying to explain to her over the phone. She kept interrupting me and wouldn't listen to me. I ended up going into the office to get what I wanted. All I wanted was my prescription written down for me and sent over to a new eye doctor. The reason I needed my correct prescription written down was because she sent over the wrong prescription and wrong brand of contacts the first time. Right when I walked in I was greeted by Meagan. She did an awesome job helping me pick my frames and knew exactly what frames will fit me. I was surprised that she escorted me manufacturer to manufacture to find the correct style. I was in and out in no time. When I went to pick my glasses she was present and welcomed me again. I have gone here several times. The most recent was almost a year ago. It didn't really occur to me to write a review until I told this story to someone and they suggested it. I went here to get an exam and new lenses. They have started using a new technique for measuring fluid pressure in the eye that uses a probe instead of a burst of air. I found this very uncomfortable and the optometrist was having a difficult time doing the test. If that was the only issue, no problem. I will just go to a place that uses the air burst from now on, no big deal. However, the optometrist called someone from the front of the store into the exam room. A young woman. He asked her to stand in front of me, and told me to look at her while he did the test. I don't know exactly what he was thinking, but even the most generous interpretations of this I can think of are still bad. It was sexist at best, harassment at worst. I was shocked when it happened. I didn't know what to do or say. The young woman looked uncomfortable, I was uncomfortable. If that woman ever reads this, I am sorry I didn't speak up in the moment. Don't go here. I had to return my brand new glasses because they were flawed. And those ended being a really bad prescription anyway, I can't wear them at work, when I'm on the computer, using my smart phone because they cause eye strain. The contacts they gave me are ONLY for distance. I can't read a menu when out to dinner. I use my old glasses 99% of the time. I ended up going to a different optometrist for new contacts and glasses. I should have returned both the glasses and contacts. A complete waste of $600. Go to ANY OTHER OPTOMETRIST. read more

Time to get new glasses! This is the first time I have visited this Pearle Vision location instead of my regular one in Chicago. My doctor was very nice, unfortunately I didn't catch his name, however I believe it was Alex. (as it says on my prescription). Alex is much nicer than any other doctor I have ever come across at a Pearle vision/Lens Crafters location. The doctor was very patient and professional and even got me to dilate my eyes, which I avoid doing at all costs since it's very uncomfortable for me to do so. (childhood trauma I guess?) Laura, the front end representative was super nice and helped me choose the right frames, and gave me tips and recommendations, I couldn't have asked for more! At times, this store is slow, and I mean no one is there except staff and it can get a bit uncomfortable for some people. Getting my prescription printout wasn't a problem, Laura, and one of the doctors on staff even gave me my PD (pupillary distance) over the phone the next day after I already had picked up my glasses. PD isn't written on your prescription and from what I hear some of these places refuse to give it to you. The bad: I have made an appointment in early December and I was told by someone the earliest available appointment is in January? I've waited almost a month to be seen. I'm not sure if you necessarily have to make an appointment or if they will see you on a walk-in basis, I sure made an appointment to stay on the safe side, however I do not understand the wait, especially since this location is super dead. read more

The doctor was always professional, I did not have to wait in line for my appointment; however, I had a negative experience with the optician working there. She was hostile and rude. She became impatient with me when I asked her a couple of questions when choosing glasses, I decided to leave empty handed and buy eyewear from a different optical store. read more

I normally get nervous when drops are put into my eyes but Dr. Portnoy made me feel extremely comfortable! He made the process easy and was patient answering all of my questions. The receptionist was so friendly and helped me pick out adorable glasses! The order for my glasses was ready within a few days!
