So I haven't been writing reviews lately due to the craze of college and work, but I absolutely had to for Pedals! Here's the story: I basically crashed into another bike and went flying and my somewhat new bike fell to the ground. Devastated more about my bike more than myself, I quickly checked it and found that it was okay. The next day I was going downhill to campus and found that my highest gear was making a weird cranking sound and when I switched to a lower one it was fine. So I continued my way but on both my front and rear gear the highest one continually making that obnoxious sound. I brought it in to the little makeshift Pedals shop on campus at UCR as soon as they opened, (they are open every Wednesday from 10am-4pm and TONS of students bring in their bikes to get it fixed, checked, tuned-up) and the young man there promptly told me that it would just need adjusting/realigning and he would have it ready for me by 2pm. I show up at around 3pm and it's all ready to go and it costed me virtually nothing! (Okay not really, but it was waaayyy cheaper than I would have ever expected). I wanted to tip him but he turned it down and told me just to come back the next time I needed something. AND YES I WILL! He is really helpful, friendly, and works so efficiently. I hope the folks at Pedals are paying him enough to come out and work in that little shack/shed in the bipolar Riverside weather. You guys are great. :) Keep it up. read more

Was riding my bike and the pedal started to wobble. We were close to this place so I went in to see what was wrong and how it could be fixed. Was told I need a $15 part and it would take 2 days. Since I rode the bike to the shop I needed to get it home. I was going to buy the part and just needed a bolt tightened to make it home so I could do the easy repair myself. This was impossible for some reason. I saw the manager standing close to the register where I was actually buying the part and said loud enough for him to hear me, " hey do you have a wrench to tighten this bolt so I can make it home. He snapped at me. Told me that I should be patient and they are doing the best they can. I thought his reaction was way off the chart. I thought it would be a simple turn of a wrench (which it was when I finally got home) but apparently it took 2 days to tighten the bolt so I could just get Home. They must do a great business here so I'm sure what I say means nothing but I think someone has confused essential and lucky enough to still have his business open. It is a luxury to be able to scare off customers. Congratulations you are a success! read more

Great customer service, fixed my bike up perfectly after an unfortunate shipping incident.

My husband has had a mountain bike since he was a kid, and swears to me that this bike is worth keeping. He bought it in Illinois, a state not known for its mountains, so you can imagine what I think of it. After years of wanting him to bike with me and finding that his bike was so beat up and out of whack that it wasn't usable, I squirreled away a modest budget for him to either buy a decent vintage road bike from the cool dude at SoCal Bikes (where I bought my road bike last year), or, if he must, fix up his old mountain bike. He drove out to Pedals for a quote and then spent all summer deliberating, while we could have been riding. Finally, sometime after Labor Day, he decided he was ready to take the plunge and fix up his mountain bike. It needed a new fork, new tires (slightly skinnier than his original chunky ones!), new gear cranks...I guess the frame itself was OK, but little else on the bike was. Pedals gave us a quote, we prepaid half, and less than a week later his bike was ready. The bike looks great...for a dumb old mountain bike that has never been taken off-road. But more importantly, my husband is happy. Best of all about Pedals: they came in under budget, and where they could have just charged us the quoted rates, they charged us their lower, actual costs. Love a good honest company that looks out for their customers! So now we're both sold on Pedals, and I'm sure will be back for future maintenance and repair needs. Awesome people! read more

I have gone into this shop several times an they have never disappointed me. My father and I went in looking for a seat post clamp and a rear axle. I have a rather.... out there bike. It's a vintage DaHon folding bike. They were unable to help with the axle as its been out of production for some time (I was able to find it after several hours of cross-referencing but they pointed me in the right direction nevertheless), and they gave me the seat post clamp for free. Their service is very casual, I've always had the impression that they enjoy what they're doing. I would never consider going to another shop! 10/10! read more

Pedals is the place to go for bike repairs!! I'm generally a good DIY'er but unfortunately cross threaded my new sealed bottom bracket & housing when trying to install. You can imagine my anxiety when I learned that cross threading a bottom bracket housing can sometimes result in a trashed frame. I guess some things should just be left to the pros. Upon entering Pedals, Chris greeted me promptly and gave me and estimate of what the fix would be. The guys at Pedals did not disappoint!! They were able to fix the threads on both the housing and bottom bracket including installing it for an extremely reasonable price within an hour on a Saturday!! Thanks Guys!!! I was really disappointed with the service and communication with one their employees. I brought an old roadmaster mountain bike that needed some work. It needed new bolts on the pedal crank, the back wheel needed to be realigned, and new shifters. We were quoted $150 for the repair, priced a bit high in my opinion. I was under the impression that we can get everything else repaired and hold off on replacing the shifters for a later time. I came in today to pick up my bike and they did not do anything saying it was necessary to repair everything and that they couldn't half fix it. So I decided to take my bike back and find another shop to look at it. I'm sure this place has a good reputation but I was the unlucky person to receive bad customer service. I felt as if I was being forced to pay the full $150 when I felt I should've had an opportunity to come back a second time to complete the repairs. read more

I bought a 1300 dollar roadster from this guy.. The bike is amazing l, but one of the workers in the shop told me to bring it after a month for the tune up. A day or 2 after a month and I brought it in and the owner of the shop told me that he would not tune up the bike because I was supposed to bring it back before a month. I told him that I was told to bring it after a month and he proceeded to curse at me and call me a liar. I told him I would just ask my dad to come in because he heard the same thing.. After a huge hassle he tuned up the bike.. He was supposed to tune it up multiple other times but I have yet to go back because I do not wish to be abused... read more

I went in with my son and the men didn't seem very knowledgeable about tubes. Didn't seem like they wanted to help us because they wanted more money from us. The only bike shop I've been to without bolts or nuts. They were so unpleasant, I forgot to get a chain for my sons bike. Kept repeating themselves. I will not be returning. read more

I researched bike repair shops before choosing Pedals Bicycle Shop for my recent bike repair. Jason (owner) and Chris both helped me and I couldn't be happier. First of all, when I picked up my bike, it sparkled! It looked brand new. Secondly, the repair was very reasonable (new tube and complete inspection after a fall from the rafters in my garage). After searching for a local bike shop for the past three years, I've finally found one I'll stick with! The people who work here are super friendly, and they did a great job replacing stolen parts on my bike and reassembling it. I felt comfortable going in without knowing very much about bikes, and that feeling didn't change after receiving service. I walked to the shop to pick up my bike with plans to ride it home after being serviced, and dopey me forgot the pedals at home! My daughter had another flat tire a few days after it had been repaired (different wheel), so I took the bike back to Pedals where I had a good experience previously. Jason and Chris, again were very courteous and helpful, and repaired it in 10 minutes with a heavy duty inner tube. I also purchased a more comfortable seat for the bike at the same time. The staff of this nice neighborhood bike shop is knowledgeable, honest, consistently helpful, and always friendly! And the prices are very reasonable! Another good experience! Pedals Bike Shop is the newest shop in Riverside, as well as the best! I've been going there since they first opened a few years back. Jason and his staff have always been extremely helpful and knowledgeable about what they sell, order and repair. Pricing isn't too bad, either. For a small shop, they carry some of the biggest and best brands in everything from bmx to mountain biking. The customer service there is excellent, fast and accurate. I've read a few bad reviews about this shop and staff. The people who wrote them must have woken up on the wrong side of the crib, or had a load in their pants the entire day. No bad reviews truly reflect any of my many visits to this particular shop. The location isn't too bad as well. It's just down the street from the Riverside Plaza, across the street from the Magnolia Town's Shopping Center, and about 2 miles from Downtown Riverside. This place sucks!! I went in after they sold me a bike the next day I was riding around and I popped a tire! So then I went and replaced it and the other tire popped. So I went in slightly annoied since every other bike i have has tires that last months. They told me I had to buy a bunch of crap and low and behold within a week Another tire popped. This time I went in and I was mad. You know what they said? They said I shoulden't ride a bike in the winter or summer because of thorns on the ground. Can you belive that? Then like a year after I took out the bike a few times and the tire diddn't pop so I went on a 8 or 9 mile bike. Well guess what? The tire popped. Then when I went in to complain and they embaressed me in front of all the other customers and like yelled to everyone that my tires only popped because I was bikeing in the alleys but i have never taken that bike to an ally once. this place sucks don't come here read more
