This is probably going to become my del Taco replacement because the rates of del Taco are going up in their fake food isn't worth it these guys are less fast food and more family quality Mexican it's made with ingredients that aren't science projects. Good service. You know they're a little bit gun shy quite literally because the proximity to the freeway makes them a Target so they're only cash now. That's kind of BS in my book because with all the cops around here you think they'd be on top of that but hey, we don't have local police. I'm always on the hunt for a great Mexican food stand. I gave this place three stars due to the convenience of a drive thru, nice service and a good flour tortilla. The potato tacos were stuffed with sauce and cabbage and an old hash brown, the quesadillas were greasy but the tortilla was above average, would make for a good bean burrito. Maybe it was a bad day for them, if I went back I'd get bean and cheese burrito, but I don't think I'll be back. read more

The best in OC! If you want fresh tacos for a couple of bucks and huge burritos and breakfast burritos this is your place. Pedro's reminds me of the earlier In n Out Burger establishments where you walk up and order and eat it on a bench or in your car. Simple, effective and delicious! Everyone knows Pedro's for their fresh food and happy employees. It's clean, too! Burritos average $5-$6 and are huge! Beautiful cuts of carne steak, chicken or their Egg and Steak burritos are large for our dollar. Fish tacos and fish burritos are also famous for being near the best you'll ever have. The service was excellent. However, the tables outside were dirty. If they aren't going to wipe it down, they should have wipes or cleaning supplies. The shrimp burrito was not good. It had a few shrimp and was overpowered by sour cream. I would have gotten the surf and turf burrito instead. I got a side of refried beans, and they were not good. This place used to be such an amazing hotspot for burritos and tacos in southern Orange County. But I just spent $23 on four soft potato tacos. Tortillas were completely raw and soaked in grease, potato was a hash-brown patty, and taco was overstuffed with cabbage to overcompensate. Least prideful Mexican food I've ever seen and they should be ashamed calling it such. Not to mention they have a sign saying homemade salsa and we were given HEINZ salsa packets. We should have gone to Taco Bell, it would have been cheaper, and BETTER! Which is saying something lol. Multiple people in these reviews seem to have a similar idea of this place. Been coming here since I was a kid and will still from time to time when I'm passing by including today but let me tell you the customer service is terrrrrible if you catch them on a bad day. I am certain that they must get a bonus check for giving out the least amount of sauce with any of your food because they will give you about two tiny sauces for your big burrito and then tell you if you want more it's an up charge. I had the combo burrito and it tasted like someone from Wisconsin made it with ingredients bought from the clearance aisle in the local Winn Dixie. There are many important factors when it comes to a delicious burrito and Pedro's hits all of them. Been coming here since high school. Lots of great memories of days long past. I still go here but it's not as good as it was. Very hit and miss. When it's a hit, it's great. When it misses.... well it really bites. The last two consecutive times we have been there they messed up simple orders. Had to go back each time to get it fixed. It's like mgt does not care anymore. Any time I make my way down to the beach I stop here. This is just a classic, quick bite, nothing fancy burrito and taco stand - so don't expect anything else! There's no indoor seating so dress warm in cold nights. The service is nothing special at all, just order and wait for your food. Been enjoying Pedro's Mexican comfort food for many years, both at the two San Clemente locations as well as the now gone San Juan Capistrano venue (I don't know what happened with that one?). Generally good, filling tacos, burritos, quesadillas and more available via walk-up or drive-thru. The quality can sometimes be perfect and other times regrettably bad depending on who is making your order. Pedro's has a reputation for reasonable prices when compared to the big chains, but has been steadily creeping up lately as well. They lose a star for the cheapskate practice of charging a second amount to simply top off your soft drink. read more

Stopped in while staying nearby for a wedding. Cute little place with limited outdoor seating. All dude Staff at the window was okay in demeanor, nothing to write home about. No smiles. Unfortunately they got our order wrong, which is okay, people make mistakes. But then they had to refund us entirely and charged us $46 again- without offering any apology. We now show two charges on our bank account and will be checking it to make sure one is removed in a few days. Saving our receipts to be sure. No free drink refill offer or anything- which would have been a nice gesture after overcharging us and giving us the wrong order. Food was mediocre. My potato tacos were just hash browns, saturated with seed oils and they give you pre packaged Heinz hot sauce to put on your food- what a disappointment that was- I mean come on, salsa and hot sauce are cheap to make fresh. I am super disappointed that this place no longer takes cash located in a part of town that has a large Hispanic population that works for cash and a homeless population that does not have a bank account. I feel like this business is discriminating against these people and does not want them as customers anymore. When you're camping at the beach and the whole crew is hungry of course you gotta get Pedro's! We spent the day in the sun and sand and when it was time for dinner everyone was hungry! Too hungry I didn't get a chance to take any photos of the food but I will tell you it was all delicious! My husband and I are brand new to San Clemente so we have been exploring new places to eat. We decided to try out Pedro's Tacos as I have driven by and seen people in the drive through. My husband ordered two carne asada tacos and I ordered one shrimp taco. I asked for salsa on the side as we are new, not sure if spicy, and driving back to our place... I was told that I had to purchase $1.99 side of salsa instead of just putting the salsa we would get on our tacos on the side... what kinda crazy is this!!! After agreeing to this baloney and arriving at our place I have decided we will never be back. The "grilled garlic shrimp" has never seen a grill, they weren't bad on their own, but they were lightly sautéed at the most, and the dressing was a bland mayonnaise. The combo of dressing and shredded lettuce would have been enjoyable on a ham and cheese sandwich. Calling the shrimp tacos a taco could only be done as there were tortillas and "salsa" that was only a spice less bland combo of tomatoes and onion that I paid $2 for. I tried the fish burrito which was basically four Frozen fish sticks rolled up with cabbage slaw. I can see where this burrito would appeal to the younger surf crowd but If you're looking for more authentic Mexican food this is not your place. I paid $11 for a marginal size burrito. I have to be honest with you when we first arrived in San Clemente 5 years ago everyone said you have to try Pedro's for the best tacos. We tried the famous fish tacos and it was a sloppy wet mess. It was disgusting. It's been five years since I have eaten there and for whatever reason I thought I would give the carne asada breakfast burrito a try and again it was not much better than my first experience.
