I hope the owner reads this. Your food quality has gone so far downhill it's just embarrassing, I used to eat here as a kid and always really enjoyed it. But just ate here, bean and cheese is so mid, basically all beans and no cheese. My girlfriend just threw up the x3 beef taquitos, probably old stale food. When I pulled up at lunch time it was dead. It used to be a wait, that should have been telling enough. Also they use Heinz hot sauce, what kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't fave fresh salsa. If you read this, don't eat here. Used to love this place but the customer service sucks now. They close at 9:00 pm but we roll up at 8:42 and the kids that work there won't serve us because, "it's too close to closing time." Really?!?!! If I'm honest the food is mediocre at best, doesn't even compare to Sancho's. read more

I can imagine back in its heyday this was a good spot, but I can't defend what I just had. Firstly a fish taco that had two large nearly raw tortillas mimicking street tacos but missing the mark. Fried fish that was definitely store bought fish sticks buried underneath an unreasonable amount of cabbage and mayo. Lemon juice in a packet instead of lemon wedges or anything to try and illicit the vibe of fish tacos in a coastal city. All the specialty drinks are clearly marketed in the front as store bought which just confirms my suspicions that nearly every aspect of the food is store bought and everything they serve is just arranging store bought ingredients with no care for quality and taste. A whole in the wall on a corner that's a few blocks away from the 5 freeway. I got my usual, which is the Carne asada burrito. Surfer's classic spot! It's a simple burrito but really tasty! It comes with carne asada, avocado sauce with a little bit of pico de Gallo and I always ask for hot sauce- bags of jalepanos sauce that I put on top of the burrito. Its really good. If you're expecting a grilled carne asada burrito in a fine dining establishment this is not the place. This place is a hole in the wall so the food is perfect for what this place is. I have been eating here for many many years, every time I'm in the area I stop by. They have a few tables outside where you can eat and watch all the cars drive by or take it to go. read more

Got food for take out so this review is strictly on the food only. I ordered their surf and turf burrito. The shrimp and the carne asada were seasoned perfectly. The meat wasn't over cooked either. I helped fund the opening of the first Pedro's by my regular patronage as a young high school student at the location in South San Clemente (mid to late 80's and post "O'boy burger" if you're a local or a new wave local poser). My staples were the (killer) combo burrito, asada taco and occasionally the fish taco (just a frozen, breaded fish loaf). After the lock-down of 2020, I have found it harder to pay the new level of pricing but I am writing this only to say. . . they take NO CASH! I have many ideas why this is their choice, yet I simply can't endorse this pitiful new model taking over my home town. It is BS. My cash dollars helped open this chain, yet they now require (after you order at the drive-thru and ar3e stuck . . . If there is a sign I miss seeing it every time Ive gone). I simply have to boycott from here out. We should all do anything we can to promote cash transactions. I research where cashless is going and you kids won't like the trap "they" (not Pedro's) is setting. Start now! Stoped by their drive thru yesterday, 3/26/22. 15 minutes we finally reached the window. I handed them CASH to pay for the meal and I was told, "sorry we don't take cash." "What?!," I said, since when? I got no answer. So I asked again, "why don't you take cash?" The employee said it's because of C-O-V-I-D, they are not allowed to take cash. 1.) The food is okay, I mildly enjoyed my fish burrito but I've had better. I received my food quickly and the service was okay. I love chips and guac but the chips and guac here are ass. The chips tasted like they were cooked in old oil and the guac was bland, it tasted like it was only seasoned with ground pepper. I still ate it all because I paid about $6 for it. Also for the guac, my partner wanted the carne asada burrito with guac on the side. However, they could only do guac on the side under the condition that we pay for the side (which is $2.19). This policy doesn't really make sense but whatever. At least my boyfriend enjoyed his food. Big fan of this spot when we are in the San Clemente area. Prices are fair for fish tacos compared to other spots. I recommend the Trestles Burrito. It has fish and shrimp. Delicious. Their regular fish tacos are very good as well. Walk-up order window or drive thru. No in-door dining area, so if you stop here be prepared to sit outside. So the cashier was very nice, I wanted a carne asada taco with guacamole and cheese, after counting up my money I realized I didn't have enough so I took off the add ons to which she said that she would give them to me for free! I was very delighted with the kindness of these strangers!! Then when I received my taco it was... chicken?? And I don't believe it had the promised add ones either. Also the taco was enormous, so big the whole thing could not fit in my hands, if felt more like an un closed burrito, and it looked like 60% lettuce. Really disappointed. I ordered 2 fish tacos - did not expect a fish stick!! Literally a fish stick with cabbage and a teaspoons worth of pico. Hot sauce was in Heinz packs. Unforgivable. This is definitely a San Clemente thing because I walked away from here befuddled. It wasn't a disaster, but, who the hell finishes their meal here and pumps their fist in the air in exalt? My "grilled" chicken taco was generously portioned. It didn't taste bad but the chicken looked boiled. Incredibly overpriced! I love San Diego area Mexican food. I'm particularly fond of the Carne Asada and California burritos. Roberto's and Santana's are the greatest franchises ever. Sadly, Pedros charges nearly twice as much for half the quality and portion. A respectable CA burrito will suffice as a meal in itself.
