I go into this location frequently, and the staff is always helpful, friendly, and they know their roasts. A true diamond in the Dimond!

Fast service. I go every morning before work. I'm straight coffee drinking. The lobby is clean and the bathrooms are always kept clean which is so hard to find. I love Peet's coffee. Love. However, this particular Peet's coffee is hit or miss. Actually, many Peet's coffee locations are hit or miss depending on the staff. The staff at the Fruitvale location can be amazing and even walk my drink to my table (now that's service!). I've noticed lately though, that the morning staff seems to be either understaffed or just not knowledgeable on pulling espresso and steaming milk. I am a bit of a snob though since I worked at a Peet's a few years ago and really dedicated a lot of effort into making good drinks. I suggest trying to go there during the evening - I have better luck with the staff during that timeframe. I wish this location was open just one more hour. I also wish it had more tables but its a rather small Peet's. The wifi is horrible. Don't depend on it. Ordering tip: If you want more caffeine but still want the latte taste, order a cafe au lait, 50-50 milk and coffee, and then add the syrup of your choice (I suggest vanilla). I thought I'd give Peets a try after regularly going to local coffee places and starbucks. I ordered a white mocha, which took a long time to make. It was good, not too sweet, but a little too cold. Toward the bottom I took a large sip of straight syrup, which explains where all the sweetness went. The service was slow and not very friendly. The person that took my order looked exhausted, was sweating, and seemed to be in a rush. Probably won't go here again. read more

Huge fan of Peet's. Can't even happily drink any other brand of coffee, especially one that is ubiquitous and on every block...I'll drive the extra freeway exit and risk being late for work just to get my soy latte to taste exactly the way I like it. I've also found this Peet's in particular to make my latte's exactly how I like it and the staff there are super friendly. But maybe I'm biased b/c this is my local branch...but I enjoy the big smiles and jokes. Oh, they're also super fast w/o compromising quality. I've had some Peet's make those drinks fast but not so great, while others make them SOO slow. read more

I love Peet's. I love that Peet's is nearly as ubiquitous in NorCal as is Starbucks in SoCal. This Peet's is newish, mellow, clean, located conveniently, and has an against-the-wall booth with tables, perfect for studying/reading. And of course the coffee is wonderful. The staff here are especially friendly, today my drink took 5 minutes, and the barista apologized because the machine was somehow off a little bit, which adversely effects the brew, so she gave me a free small coffee voucher. I really like Peets and the service at this location is always top notch. The store/bathroom tends to be well kept. There is a big parking lot behind that always has opens spots (which makes this location way more accessible than the Lakshore location). Like I'd say of most Peet's locations, definitely stop by if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Peet's was my first coffee love. When my addiction started, I would buy a large house coffee from the Peet's on my college campus. Never went to Starbuck's because I always thought it was more expensive....but it isn't so I'm a starbucks guy now. I'm glad to see a Peet's or just about any cafe in the area to bring more businesses in. Being the closest one to my house, I came here a few times in 2007. I drink coffee in the afternoon or at night, not during the usual coffee rush, but I have never received a HOT fresh cup of coffee from this location before! I only drink regular house blends so I can't speak for the fancy $5 dollar drinks, but they failed at their most basic drink. Now I drive an extra 15 minutes to the next closest Starbucks to get my coffee. read more

I LOVE your shop, it is like a special retreat in an area mixed with some shops that i would not set a foot in. Your clean, new shop, and friendly staff, and of course let us not forget to mention AWESOME coffee, is something I greatly appreciate. I feel totally comfortable meeting up with clients here, and just making myself comfortable in your environment. I have notice that it gets pretty packed during certain hours. This is my favorite branch of the three I go to, including MOntclair and Lakeshore. I just enjoy the people who work there, friendly and efficient. Sometimes you wait forever at the Montclair branch and Lakeshore can be a mess. Great product with a great staff. Us coffee junkies don't like to wait for our fix. read more

Best soy latte ever. Not made with sweetened soy milk (ick!). 2 vegan baked goods options (although one is about to be discontinued). And really good, strong, flavorful coffee and espresso. They're often busy and they serve the people who want whole bean coffee first rather than those waiting in the long line. That's kind of annoying to me. However, I do love that they have almond milk and their mayan mocha is just that little awesome spicy that I truly enjoy. I will go there when I have a craving for spicy mocha- and they have wifi. The shop is always hopping with full tables and lines. Despite this, the staff has never wavered from being incredibly friendly. Being a stay-at-home dad with two loud children this is very cherished. One time they were backed up and my baby dropped his binky; the barista took the binky and ran it under boiling hot water to kill the germs. Truly a rarity in service these days. COME ON! I mean... I know, and I mean I KNOW Peets has it's own clock. I am a loyal '2x times a day/no less and probably more' customer. But when there are 5 or 6 people behind the counter and NO ONE ringing anyone up even I feel like I'm going crazy. I do realize that a trip to Peets must be budgeted as they seem to work on a whole different time continuim but COME ON people -- just take my order. Decided to try peets pumpkin latte since I got pumpkin latte craving. i ordered Pumpkin latte today and what I got is SUPER hot 1/2 foamy pumpkin drinks (cappuccino-esque) flavor. Didnt want to change it since I used to work in a coffee shop and they were super busy at the time. its the second time I had this experience of super hot drinks at this peets (I used to come here a lot) be specific when you order. i think it is the last time im going to this place. read more

I will never patronize Peet's Coffee again due to discrimination and lack of compassion my friends and I experienced at this location. I had not been there in a while so i guess i was not considered a regular. I was there with two friends, one who was in a wheel chair and one who is mentally disabled. Even though my friend was not disruptive in any way, they refused to allow us to drink our coffee or eat our pastries inside the coffee shop. Instead, even after I paid $21 for food and coffee, we were kicked out because she was mentally disabled. Furthermore, I believe I was treated this way because I am African American. I also took the time to address the Corp.Office with a certified letter and they did not even respond. This is acceptable in no manner. read more

I have been a customer of Peet's for 10 years. This location is the closest to my house so it defaults to my most visited location. The past two years this location has gone seriously down hill. The lobby and bathroom are normally dirty with all the coffee fixings empty. There could be 2 customers in line and 3 baristas behind the counter and it still takes almost 20 minutes for an americano. And last but not least, the baristas are condescending, uncaring and the worst example of customer service possible. The most consistent offender is Belinda. She is consistently rude, slow, and makes very disgusting coffee. She gives extreme attitude when you ask for the simplest things like getting creamer for the bar. Yesterday I had the displeasure of meeting someone new, Sacha. She replaced a new barista on the register so that barista could fix up the pastry case (which had fruit flies buzzing around). The barista asked Sacha a question to which Sacha rolled her eyes and gave her an instruction in such a tone it took the barista aback. I had to explain my americano order 3 times. Since I was the last customer in line she went over to help Belinda make drinks. When a woman asked if a coffee on the bar was hers Melinda rolled her eyes and said no. Right after that a gentleman came up and asked the same question 3 times. Neither Belinda or Sacha bothered to answer him so he just took the coffee and left. Once he was away from the bar they both starting laughing and mocking him. Just a normal example about why I avoid this Peet's as much as possible now. read more

I love having Peet's in the neighborhood! The service here is friendly. Only downside is, this isn't the cleanest of Peet's. The trash is usually overflowing. Or on the ground. Overlook that, and it's a great place to meet up, catch up on work, or just relax. read more

Disorganized, grinders don't work properly, often out of stock on many items. Today "the power was out" although the lights and cash registers worked. Apparently employees aren't trained on how to reset a breaker switch. I'm fed up. Other Peet's stores aren't like this. Why can't they get their act together here? read more

This is the last time i will be going to this place it was good service spent alot of money here but there is one thing i cant stand and that is stinky attitude to start my day. The website had them opening at 6 in the morning on sunday today. i went there saw one of the worker and asked her are you guys open. she said not yet. I was still under the impression that they open at 600 and that they just need to get ready so i went and check second time at 610 still not open. I did not look at there open time posted on door since i thought info on internet was right. so i waited and waited. They finally open at 630 and i did see that it was posted at door so i asked 1 simple question and that is can you guys get the open time info on internet change and one lady told me they try already i said ok. However other lady seem to be visibly upset with me for asking a question. She didn't even warm up my chocolate croissant like they usually do and when i ask her to help warm it up she was pissed. Took the croissant like snatching a purse off someone and slam the microwave door like i did something to her. I got nothing to do with their emotional problem only there for coffee. There is plenty of other coffee shop around i dont need this kind of negative energy especially early in the morning. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more

I love this Pete's but have to write about man making coffee this pm. Put a small iced coffee on bar, mumbled and walked away. Looked like what I ordered and had been waiting so took it. Only one other woman there and she said not hers. Started to walk away, drank and it wasn't right. I went back, apologized and said I could take it but please remake for other person and delete mine. No response just a really dirty look. Asked again and someone else came by and we worked it out. He watched entire time with dirty looks. Just disappointed as I left feeling horrible. Atmosphere at this Peet's in the Dimond area can get very uncomfortable. Small group of customers making racists jokes. Spoke to manager Khoy about it, she wasn't very concerned about my complaint. I guess free speech is alive and well as long as it's spoken by only certain cultures. And yes, since I don't like it there, I won't go back. Too many other choices in the area! read more

For not being a "real" coffee drinker I sure love me some Peet's!!! I got so tired of the inconsistent, watered down, coffee beverage that they serve at you know where! This location is always crowded and slow at peak time and sometimes even when I don't think it's peak time. The space is small and can't accomodate the high foot traffic. I will however give them one star just for being in the best location...right off the freeway, next door to La Farine, and across from Farmer Joe's. Woohoo! The coffee is always good here, rich and bold just the way I like it. I wanna know that I'm going to be wide awake all day after my first sip! The help here is a bit spotty. I've been to this location 4 times and 3 of those times I had to repeat myself several times to the person at the cash register cuz they were either talking to someone behind them or just plain stupid. I understand how it is to work at a coffee shop so I empathize with the baristas. They have so many people with their own personal hang ups to deal with. I will be honest I don't come here often but regular enough to know some of the people and each experience has been great. Belinda and Laura ring me in a lot and I enjoy them immensely. Alison makes my drink a lot and Adrianna does as well and I enjoy them. The staff as a whole, I wish I could remember them all by name create a welcoming environment.
