I echo other reviewers who said they don't usually write reviews about chains. But this location of Peet's is one of my favorite places to sit, have a drink, and do some work. The staff are always pleasant and professional, the Wifi is strong, and the big windows mean a lot of natural light streams in! The location is also very central and convenient. I've spent a lot of time doing work here and it's just a nice casual atmosphere with a good amount of background noise that's never too loud. The staff are also very helpful -- recently I wanted a flavored iced tea but I didn't want it to be as sweet as they usually make it. The barista offered to mix it with a non-sweetened iced tea. The mix of unsweetened green tea and the sweetened jasmine-lime tea was perfect! I highly recommend this Peet's location. read more

As I continue my non-chain coffee extravagenza throughout the East Bay, I decided to go to a chain coffee house because of its proximity to Genova Delicatessen. Customer service could have been so much better. So so much much better better. If a couple rushes in because the lady had to use the bathroom, which certainly looked like a life or death situation, you should immediately help the non-paying customer. Why? Do you want a freaking disaster on your floor and spook your customers? Come on. I don't care if the bathrooms are for paying customers only. Think of the consequences, you baboon. Yes, I called you baboon. And secondly, there is no need to be racist in this day and age. Yes, they didn't look well-dressed and wealthy but that doesn't mean that you get to treat them differently. "I'll be right there with you." Come on. I can't believe you said that. The lady was practically squealing because she needed to use the bathroom THAT bad. So next time, drop what you're doing and give the bathroom key to her instead of finishing your order and taking your sweet time strolling over to where the key was. How do I know that he was racist? He treated me differently when I rushed over for the bathroom key. Yes, I had to use the potty room. Any who, why the 1 star? Because of their awesome, awesome menu offering : 'House Blend of the Day' or something like that. I would have listed the specific name but your damn interwebs was so poopy. I haven't experienced such poopy interwebs, which happened to be far, far worse than People's Cafe. That's just sad, yo. Effective immediately, Yelp should remove the 'Wifi' option (on this page). Loose bowel movements. It wasn't the thoroughly cooked fried chicken I had for breakfast nor was it the soy milk from Costco. Loose freaking bowel movements. Yes, that's right. I was so disappointed with their coffee. This was 2 hours into my study session. And the bathroom had seen far better days. It takes half a minute for an employee to do a quick makeover. But no. No, they certainly don't care about the cleanliness of their facility. I suppose this is the end of my days at this Peet's coffee house unless I really, really need to use the bathroom. What a great Peet's location, especially when it's right next to Genova's Deli and near Bakesale Bettys! There are at least ten tables in this coffee shop and the large windows really make Peet's such a welcoming and warm place to be in! There were plenty of seating areas and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely a place to relax, catch up with a friend, or wait for Bakesale Bettys to open! read more

It's Peets, of course it's going to be great. There was a modest amount of seating, but we were lucky and got a table for three. My latte was good, and was made pretty quickly. The environment was nice, even offered a free tasting of sumatra, which was good. If I lived hung out on Telegraph more this would probably be my joint, but since i don't, it isn't. Was thrilled when this area on Telegraph expanded years ago. I was around when there was only a Walgreens and now it's a convenient little shopping center with everything you need in it including a Peet's. I frequent at coffee shops in all kinds of locations but this is by far one of my favorite Peet's Coffee & Teas. It's the ultimate atmosphere you want in a coffee shop. There is a large area off to the side, away from the coffee bar to minimize noise and surrounded with windows for natural lighting. Perfect for casual conversations as well as a good place to get your work done. There is ample outdoor seating too. The baristas are all really nice and friendly and despite the amount of people that come through, the line moves quickly. Very efficient and welcoming. I will definitely be coming through whenever I'm in Oakland. read more

I'm sorry, it is with great sadness Peet's that I have to say goodbye. I know that I don't order exotic drinks and I mostly like to order a good cup of medium dark roast(coffee is very good)but the body language of one of the cashiers speaks volumes. When this cashier is interacting with other customers she smiles and is very happy to see them, when it comes to my dark skinned black male self, I get the look and demeanor of hurry up order your coffee and get the fuck out of my face!(insert vomit emoji). I apologize for not being either a foreign born black man or a hipster white male but I will not beg an establishment to do business with me. I will make my coffee at home and also make my own pastries at home. Thanks for the good coffee though!! read more

Ahhh! This place is a little oasis of air conditioning on a hot summer day. Bring your laptop to catch up on all of those youtube videos of the keyboard cat cuz you get two hours of WI-FI with your cuppa joe. The corporate-coffee atmosphere doesn't really have that authentic local vibe that I prefer in a coffeehouse, but the coffee and service are reliable. I'm a big fan of coffee, Peet's in particular. But this location can't seem to get it together. It's close to where I live, thus convenient. But 60% (maybe more) of the time they get my order wrong. The speed of service here goes beyond my expectations! This is a high volume store, but my order is ALWAYS taken very quickly (might I add, with no mistakes) & I recieve my drink soon after! Even with 10+ people in line, I can expect my wait time to be no longer than 8 minutes all together! To me, that's outstanding! I'm pleased with it! Not to mention, my drink is always made exceptionally well! Generally, this place should be a last resort if you absolutely need wifi and can't find it anywhere else. The wifi, I should add, sucks. My croissant was stale. The bathroom was out of toilet paper. I've had a good experience at this Peets, generally. However, it seems like the coffee/espresso is weaker than it used to be, and has no taste. An iced latte literally just tastes like milk. It doesn't get the job done for me anymore. Not sure if this is a new thing at all Peets, but after years of being a loyal customer it may be time for me to move on. Weirdly, the grounds that they sell (Major Dickenson, Aged Sumatra, etc.) are still great. I still use them to make coffee at home. I've talked to several other people who feel this way. Maybe they've weakened the coffee they sell to be more like Starbucks? Whatever the case, I miss my strong coffee! read more

Clean, cozy, plenty of parking, and always open. A great place to read your morning paper or enjoy a seasonal latte (pumpkin spice, anyone?) Also right next to the freeway ramp so very convenient for car commuters. Wouldn't sitting in traffic be a touch more tolerable with a warm drink in hand? read more

This is a pretty good Peets. It has a parking lot so you can get off and get your coffee and then be on your way. Sometimes the lot is full but there is usually parking. Their employees are very friendly and they pretty much try to keep the place clean. I think some of the customers that sit there all day leave their trash behind. I've seen it myself. Great service but skinny little black girl barista working at 1pm today6-27 is no good. Regular foam request gets limp burned milk with quickly collapsing tiny bit of foam...requesting extra foam gets me all foam,almost no milk. She doesn't have the skill with the milk. read more
