Anytime I get to visit my home back in the Bay, we always make a point to make it over to Peet's. We must have just missed the morning rush which is not a bad thing. Our drinks were nice and hot but not scolding, and the food was warm and ready to eat. I especially liked the egg frittata and the regular croissant. This time around, this visit was the only meal we would have for the day. Our hot drinks and hot food were what sustained us the whole 3 hours back home. read more

I ordered 3 drinks from this location this morning. 06/18/2025. One small matcha and two medium caramel macchiatos, the two macchiatos were made hot instead of iced which i didn't have an issue with i know it was a mistake but my problem was when they remade the drinks they gave me two small macchiatos instead of medium. I asked the employee if the drinks were medium size (they clearly weren't medium sized but i still asked just to confirm) the employee looked me up and down, then said "yeah" i then just walked away because i could tell that the employees were being rude when all i was to them was nice and respectful. Not only did they basically steal my money because they charged me for a bigger size that i was given but they were also rude when i kindly asked them to fix the order. Honestly, before I came to this location, I was not a fan of Peet's! I had been to multiple Peet's locations and nothing ever really stood out to me. I started coming here 2-3 times a week because of how close my work is. This is where I learned to love the establishment. I am an avid matcha latte fan. For the longest time I was getting my matcha lattes here wrong! I always wondered why they never tasted that good, and I realized it was just because I wasn't tailoring it to my liking. Mirella is my favorite! She helped me figure out that I should substitute the simple syrup in the matcha latte with honey syrup, and I eventually learned to add extra matcha so that I could taste more matcha flavor. She and the other baristas are always super friendly, even when I stop by at 6:15 am on a weekday (I know everyone is just waking up too, but they're always up there with warm and welcoming attitudes). Definitely better than any other Peet's location out there. Wonderful people, wonderful drinks, everything is perfect. Wouldn't change a thing! Just passing through... gimme java! Two Spaniards' are talking next to me in high tech and Spanish, two languages I don't speak. However, everyone is influenced by the delightful coffee buzz , which is a language I do speak. Si, this Peet's is best if you are passing through. There is just a few seats outside. The plus side is that there is usually parking available which makes this the perfect place if you are on the go. They serve great coffee here. The latte was well prepared--not too bitter and with the right amount of milk. Cinnamon coffee cake was a great complement to the latte. I think it's safe to say that this Peet's has definitely improved since my last review. I've ordered an almond milk latte on my last several visits here and it's been great -- just the right temperature and prepared quickly. Think of this Peet's as though it's a "Peet's Express" if you will. There is no indoor seating and the interior is a bit small. Lines can and will get long in the morning, but definitely not nearly as long as the lines at Philz nearby. Just like any other Peet's location, you can also get tea, pastries and beans among other things. If you need something to wake you up and keep you warm before boarding your train at the nearby Caltrain station, you can't go wrong by coming to Peet's. 4 stars read more

I always try to support my local establishments. I have been coming here for over 15 years and have had good experiences with friendly efficient baristas. All I wanted today was to buy two pounds of whole beans, and I happened to be in a bit of a time crunch. When I arrived, there was only one person in front of me and no one in line behind me. I ordered $38 plus tax and tip of coffee beans. They made me wait until others behind me get their coffee's first. All the baristas were busy taking orders of patrons in line behind me and making coffee, accept for the man with long hair who was wondering back and forth not doing much. I signaled that I was still waiting for my whole beans to the woman who took my order. She asked this man to prepare my beans and continued to take orders from other people in line. Knowing I was in a hurry, he made sure to go as slowly as possible, irritated that he was asked to help me. At one point, I had to move out of the way for others and stepped on a bean which made a popping sound. He stops filling the coffee and turns around to gave me a rude stare as though I'd made that sound on purpose. (Huh? Am I supposed to be intimidated just because you're a foot taller than me?! I believe my purchase contributed to your pay. You did not deserve the tip!). He sarcastically says "thanks for waiting" while handing me my long awaited beans. It's really too bad as I liked this local establishment. But if this is the kind of "service" to expect, it's much more pleasant for me to buy my beans at Starbucks or Verve even if they are a bit out of the way. Learning opportunity: It only takes one experience like this to loose a repeat customer forever. I am also in the service industry and will use this incident to remind my coworkers if we can't deliver in a timely fashion, the patrons should still be treated with respect. Visited Oct 6th 2:40pm. The barista at the register had a bit of an attitude when he asked, "can I help you?" And clearly my wife and I were in the back deciding what we wanted. So we finally ordered a dark chocolate mocha and tea. Got rung up and my wife got change but instead of being handed the change, it was plopped on the counter (which was another rude gesture). The drinks were made and after they were out on the counter, all we got was a rude "thank you". And we picked it up and went on our way. Was this guy (who was a white, tall, husky guy with glasses) having a bad day or was he a racist who has prejudices against people like me? I dunno, but we don't feel the service or attitude was up to the standards of a shop like Peet's. Or maybe I just have too high expectations to expect cordial customer service. My first time here, I ordered a medium size and the person taking my order was very generous and she gave me a large. modestly i. has hit the nail on the head. I live in Palo Alto one street over from this Peets and have found the service to be less than acceptable. Today I went in for a soy caffe latte. I paid for my drink, and waited. And waited. And waited. Mind you there were only two customers ahead of me, and both orders were simple - one asked for a double-espresso and the other a hot cocoa. The barista forgot the double-espresso (and it slowly became a 'lungo' shot) and asked the patron if she wanted her shot long. They spent the next minute or two explaining what that even meant to the customer who (thankfully) said she didn't care and took her incorrectly prepared drink with her. One down. While the drink was being fumbled, the two women got into a slight argument about who should receive their drink first, because the other thought she was first (she was not.) The second customer almost had her drink ruined as the barista was about to place a shot of espresso in her hot cocoa. The quick-thinking and attentive customer explained "no espresso" to the barista who sighed and served the drink with no courtesy or apology. Finally my drink hit the counter. "Medium soy latte." she said, quite passively. I said "thanks" in return. "ya." was her response. "ya." For what it's worth, the coffee was good. That's the core of the business - two stars. The coffee house experience is what differentiates a mediocre shop from a great one and is worth the other three stars. Not this time. read more

Ordered a cappuccino and specified dry with just a little milk. They filled half the cup with milk... I ordered a pastry, but they said they had no way of warming it . It was cold and greasy. No one was cleaning the outside tables while I was there . I had to remove the remains of someone else's lunch and wipe off the table myself. They close at 4 . When I passed by again at 5, there were still tables outside that had not been cleared off. The staff at this place is lazy and incompetent. read more

This is my neighborhood Peet's and I want them to succeed, but they just aren't cutting it. The service is extremely slow (the slowest of any of them in Palo Alto) and they have major workflow issues (no one knows where the line ends or begins) that could be easily remedied. At least it is done with a smile. The people are nice, but it takes more than that to be a successful business. Lately, I have been walking over to the Peet's at Town & Country instead when I want a barista-prepared drink. It is closer than you think, and the service is faster and the selection of baked items is more vast. If you are just after a good cup of Peet's coffee, then walk next door to Whole Foods and treat yourself there. Much faster. Other than the slow service, the main issue with this Peet's is that there is no where to sit and enjoy your brew. Also no WiFi. This is a place for grabbing your coffee and running off to work in the morning. Just be sure to bring the morning paper so that you will have some to read while you wait... read more

Ugh. The cashier was pretty rude. He questioned me about coconut milk or soy milk for my green tea frappe and how I can choose only 1 type of milk. So, I preferred to use coconut milk and he said that you can't do coconut milk with your frappe or some sh*t like that along the lines. So I said "nvm" and then he said, "you can use coconut milk". I told him straight up, "sorry, I'm confused. Sure, I'll use coconut milk then." Asshole gave me a confusing look like I didn't know what I was talking about. Whatever, got my request. Rude and terrible customer service here today from Victoria! I ordered a London Fog from friendly cashier Molly. Victoria proceeded to tell her incorrectly how to make it (telling her to make it with Chai tea instead of Earl Grey). When I corrected that and asked what the price would be, Victoria rudely ignored my question. She would not speak to me. Finally, instead of giving a clear answer on the price, she said, "I'll give you a receipt," like she wasn't willing to take the time to figure it out. We left. I ordered an iced coffee drink. First of all, the person didn't tell me there's whip cream on top of the drink and didn't ASK me if I want it or not. Second, the staff didn't ask me if I would like any non-dairy milk options since I usually drink non-dairy milk. When I told the person that I don't want the whip cream on top of my drink, the person responded rudely "well, you know this drink usually comes with whip cream right?" And he was very unhappy and unwilling to make another new drink without whip cream for me...this situation made me doubt if I should ask him for non-dairy milk option or not. Maybe this request will make him even angrier? Overall. It's a very unpleasant visit. This store should heavily improve their customer service. Leme's so right. It's not just the jasmine lime coolers that keep me coming...it's the opportunity for people watching. It's because of the patrons at this Peet's that I hate Crocs and Bugaboo strollers.... It's right next door to Whole Foods (LOVE the breakfast bar there), and easy access for my morning schnack/coffee run. Sure, you could walk three blocks and go to Starbucks on University/Bryant...but who wants to endure the stench of funky transient that engulfs that whole intersection while coming in and out of 'bucks? Not me, I tell ya. Luckily that rotund transient/former City Council candidate that's always bumming for organic food is only allowed to set up camp across the street, near the parking lot. All the employees there are pretty friendly. They seem so nice... I don't think I'm regular enough for them to remember my order, but that's okay. The older white guy...he may be a supervisor...he's sweet and means well, but kind of put me off when he tried to test his spanish skills on me. So don't get me wrong. I'm a HUGE Peet's fan. However, I'm sooo disappointed w/ this Peet's location. My most recent visit, there is one employee gal trying to write stuff on the glass doors (making a smeary mess, I might add) - BTW, $2 Freddo's on Friday do ROCK (which is what she was trying to write about). There are 3 employees inside. One dude in his own little world - I think he was taking inventory or something and couldn't care less there were customers in the store. 2nd person was a pretty girl who kinda looked like Kristen Stewart, and kind of acted like her too (a bit standoffish and irritated) - as though she simply could not be bothered by customers either. And the 3rd was a nervous-confused-looking-slow moving Asian girl (also cute btw - maybe she was new) and the only one actually working & serving customers. The issue was... there were two dudes in front of me waiting for regular drip coffees... I mean, does it really take 10 minutes to make??? Those two guys in front of me were just waiting super-patiently... but inside I'm sure all of us were like, "WTF?" Kristen Stewart just left the Asian girl by herself, who kept looking lost and confused. Finally the guy looked up and said, "Are you guys waiting for coffees?" I mean, I do understand that coffee takes time to brew& drip. However, THIS IS A COFFEE SHOP, so is it too much to ask that there be coffee already made for your patrons? As for my order, I usually loove/crave the Dark Chocolate Mocha Freddo. Like it's one of the joys in my life and what I call my "happy fix". But somehow Asian gal made it sooo watery and yucky that I think I'm done having them for good. Ugh... I really wish this location was better and that the staff is friendlier and faster, since it is conveniently located next to Whole Foods... but no such luck. They disappoint. And they need to do something about the lighting too - the place is dark and dreary, not like your usual Peet's environment. However, since I visit Whole Foods religiously I have (stupidly) given this particular Peets coffee more than a fair share of opportunities to dissapoint me. Just today, Collins the "customer service" rep. was so incredibly rude that I had to finally yelp my experiences. You would think that with 4 or 5 people working behind the counter, that the line of coffee-thirsty customers would move rapidly. Of course, this does not take into account the poor mannered and obviously under motivated employees. If you manage to over-look the constant employee jabbering about their late nights at the Old Pro and pretend to not notice them whispering inappropriate comments about their customers, maybe you will enjoy this place. read more

What a bummer! I've seen Peet's in Palo Alto and in SF. The long line in SF deterred me only for that day as I really like the emphasis they place on tea and the SF Peet's seemed to have a great atmosphere. As a former barista I understand the ups and downs that go into the job; I enjoy being just as friendly to baristas, now, as a customer. Nonetheless, you have a job to perform - a smile and attention to the customers is priority. Starbucks will even say, the barista sets the stage for the product-great coffee-but atmosphere is key! Why drag on - I'll just get straight to it! PRO'S: (1) The '101' coffee was pretty good. I sipped it immediately, no cooling time needed. (2) The ginger & carrot muffin was very good and lent for a tasty afternoon treat. CON's: (1) Grumpy staff who complained about their own products AND the customers (one barista said she's surprised she hasn't hurt anyone yet. - REALLY!) (2) They seemed annoyed that I was checking their place out & didn't come in READY to order. (3) I asked if they had free wi-fi. She printed me out a ticket for 1 free hour. Really 2011 - get with it?!? (4) The atmosphere is awful!! Or is this Peet's location doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Provide a product & get you on your way! There was no place to sit, except outside benches - YES benches. I brought my netbook & sat in the cold shade contemplating whether or not to spend my HOUR of FREE wi-fi writing this Yelp review or not. BOTTOM LINE: My gym, Vivre, around the corner provides free Peet's. This is the only place I will ever drink Peet's, again. This Peet's location saved my life. Well, not really, but pretty close. Turns out that I misread the caltrain timetable, and had a wait a long while for the morning train into The City. I was badly in need of a shot of caf and a warm place to drink it. They were open, friendly, and quick. Very close to the caltrain, and of course, served up Peet's famous non-burnt coffee (unlike that other chain which people claim to like). All said, it is a pretty small store, and the ambiance is not really that great. The employees were plenty friendly enough here. I do imbibe my share of coffee (probably too much) and this is not my go-to place. It served the purpose though. read more

I totally love Peet's Coffee but this place is a micro jam packed claustrophobic barely fit through the beyond extremely narrow u shaped aisle squeeze bo. No place to sit inside. No table or chairs for sitting outside. Outside bench seems to be a catch all for Palo Alto riff raff. Needless to say I went in and experienced this claustrophobic squeeze box and changed my mind. I didn't get any coffee today nor will I be getting coffee here anytime soon. That and Pete's coffee actually tastes like full bodied coffee. This place is busy in the morning, especially right after some sort of workout class lets out nearby.
