I have seen a gazillion Peet's in the Long Beach/Orange County area. And I don't recall ever venturing into one. So, since I was running a bit EARLY this morning, and a bit tired of my usual Starbucks song and dance (I hope my loyal baristas aren't reading this), I decided to switch it up and head over to the Peets down the way from my office. This is a really, really nice location, Its in a huge lot that also holds WineStyles (yay!), CPK, New York and Co, and a few other businesses. The store itself is HUUUUGE. And very dimly lit, so it has a nice ambiance. I would have loved to stay and sip on my latte while reading for a bit, but alas, I am part of the working class and needed to get my ass to work. I ordered a medium soy caramel latte, which came out to about 4.25... obviously they charge extra for soy milk.. sigh. And since I'm a sucker, I coughed it up, plus extra for tip. I wonder how much money I have given to various baristas over the years... its got to be in the thousands. But, I feel for them. I've been there, and its a pretty hectic position. My latte was delish. Next time I'll ask for a bit more caramel, since I'm a sweet freak. I restrained myself and passed up the delicious-looking muffins, pastries and such. The bearclaw was calling my name, I think.... but I held strong. Another thing Peet's has that even Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf can't touch is a very large selection of teas to take home. Last Saturday, I went to Peet's to pick up my supply of Kenyan Beans. If you drink coffee by the acre like I do, you will love Peet's coffee. Peet's coffee is a hardcore coffee place. There is no BSing around it. They specialize in coffee from around the world and the roasting process. And only if you have graduated from Starbucks and wanted to learn more about coffee, Pete's is the place. For those who are just trying it out, I suggest that you don't drink their coffee without a bathroom nearby. Trust me. This advice will save you and your friends lots of embarrassing moments. Don't guzzle it down, it will ruin your day. It's super coffee taste; strong enough to raise the hair behind your neck. Some people use it for medicinal purposes or to keep it "regular", if your home brew doesn't do the trick anymore. a pound of coffee beans will run you from 10 bucks to 24 depends what suited you best. Service here is always great. But remember, these are just kids making your coffee. Don't ask them too many questions, if you insist of getting to know your beans. Ask for the pamphlet explaining about their coffee. They have a pastry selection; they look sooo tasty in the morning. At this location, there is a fountain seating area to enjoy your cup but there is nothing much going on @ this center since it located between Rosmoor and Seizure , I mean Leisure world . it's a nice quiet place to enjoy your cup and there is a restroom near by. read more

So since I've moved to California I've overlooked this place the entire time. For some reason I classified it similar to Coffee Bean. To my dismay, it was nothing like Coffee Bean! Seems like an upscale Starbucks and the Caramel Macchiato is cheaper and 10x tastier than Starbucks. There was a pretty long line and made in and outta there in NO TIME! I like the location as well. A majority of people grab coffee from the gas station, Starbucks, and Coffee Bean. I am the minority that drives to Peet's just for a nice cup of black coffee. You may ask my why all the way over there for just black coffee? Well this isn't just any black coffee my dear yelpers, the smell pretty much got me the first time I decided to stop by. But when I gave it a taste it didn't feel like Starbucks or Coffee Bean or any other generic place, I felt like I could say that it was definitely a Peet's only kind of coffee. I've only lived for 21 years, but I'm sure I've drank enough coffee and talked to enough baristas and bartenders at those shops to know what I'm talking about. If I sound like a crazed caffeine freak I'm not, I just love coffee. Plain and simple. It's a little hard to find since it's stuck in a corner of the plaza, but once you step inside it feels like home. The music gives you a sense of relaxation since it's usually oldies and classical. What's better is that the bartenders are of course gentleman and the baristas are well for the most part very pretty. So I guess that gives you an idea of the interior. Now I know some may dislike coffee, but there are other choices too! Tea and even non caffeinated drinks are available. My favorite is still probably the Godiva Dark Chocolate Raspberry Frappe. Ever since I got it during the summer from a recommendation of the barista it's stood tall on my list against of course my usual black iced coffee. I get mochas everywhere I go. We go to all the local independent coffee roasters and brewers. And of all the places we go, Peet's is a step above. It's excellent coffee, and deeply chocolaty without overpowering the coffee. And it's not milky or excessively sweet. Perfect. thank you barista (young woman with long red hair) for a great cup of coffee. Update: Just came in to redeem my free birthday drink. Sean took care of us. I asked him about making a mocha for me that was a little less sweet. He was happy to oblige. My child was with me and asked for a drink. Sean asked me if he could make a little drink for my kid. It is easy to miss Peet's since it is in the corner of the shopping center next to the Ann Taylor and a Day Spa. They play relaxing classical music inside, it is never pretentious in here and everyone that works here is very nice. This Coffee shop is a true hidden gem in the Shops at Rossmor shopping center. I used to think I was not a fan of Peet's and from what I remember, I used to make fun of it. That is, until I tried the Madagascar Vanilla Fredo this Summer. If the weather is right, there is a great outdoor sitting area with very comfortable seats and a fire pit. If you like the Blended Iced Coffee drinks, this is as good as it gets. It is not super sweet. It too strong. As Goldie Locks would say, it's just right! If you are a fan of their blended iced drinks, make sure to get a card, after five Fredos you get one free! Every time I am in this part of town I look forward to coming in and grabbing a quick Fredo. read more

Oh Peets. I love this Peets and have been going here for a long time. Such great quality and well made. All the shots are hand pulled which is why it tastes way better than Starbucks. They also hand steam the milk unlike other coffee shops too. Their baked goods are wonderful. I love almond croissants and theirs is the best! But there scones, breads and muffins are wonderful too. Not too sweet or processed. They taste fresh. I will say though that I miss their brand of tea. They discontinued it for mighty tea and it's just not very good. I miss it. The atmosphere of this location is very comfortable. Very much the coffee shop on the corner. Love it. I actually miss it when we're on vacation. read more

My friend and I came here because we needed a place to study. There's wifi and AC, loved it! I've tried the Javiva Blended, vanilla flavor with no caffeine. It was refreshing! A little sweet for those who aren't a fan, but I liked it just right! My friend got the Mocha and peppermint frapp, I believed, and I thought it was tasty as well. She didn't like it as much. It is definitely different from Starbucks, but I thought they worth the bucks you spend. read more

Great coffee, great service, lousy singers on Friday nights! Sorry guy with the big hair, but you should stick to making coffee than singing for a living! We have to have our Coffee Fix just about every day before diving onto the freeway with the other 100 million so-cal-ers that call the 405 home, and with the fix we get with the coffee, I seem to be happier when that A-hole in the big 4X4 cuts me off, or the guy next to me is trying to catch up on the news with the newspaper on his steering wheel, or the Mother who is turned around in her seat behind the wheel trying to put the bottle in the baby's mouth to get it from crying. Yes, folks, the great freeways of SoCal is still alive and well, and with my LARGE Moca from Peets, I can always count on it getting me all the way to work in one piece and fewer dents from the aforementioned Highway mates we all share the road with. We have been going to this peets from the day it opened, and now, when we walk in, they know what we want and they are getting it ready for us be fore we even approach the cash register. They knew us by drink first, and took the time to learn our names as I notice they do for a lot of the regulars who brave the morning trek to work. Now, would I tell you to go to Peets? I ordered the Chocolate & Caramel Swirl Freddo and I'm really addicted to it! Prices aren't bad and the taste of the Freddo was flavorful (with a bit of ground coffee beans in the drink). Excellent customer service by Theresa. She was friendly and informative. I don't go to Peet's often but maybe I'll start to more since she said their coffee has more caffeine than Starbucks. Too bad there aren't more Peet's locations. Their bags of coffee may be higher than competitors but this Peet's is big inside and has a spacious outdoor area inviting you to sit, relax and enjoy your coffee. Stop and smell the java! read more

I really like coming to this place to study or do some research/writing on my laptop. The store is large, with lots of seating. I particularly like the long padded bench seating along the length of the store. These seats are almost couch-like, with little tables along the front and (big for laptop users!) outlets along the wall for customers. The store also offers free WiFi. I always get the same drink, so I can't speak on that very much, but I have always enjoyed what I've ordered (nonfat chai latte). The baristas are friendly, and clearly make an effort to learn the names/faces of their regulars. My one complaint about this location, however, also has to do with the staff. Once, when I was there reading, I overheard two baristas loudly talking about how they found it frustrating when customers camped out at the store for long periods of time without ordering a refill on their drink, called them "cheapskates", etc. Not very welcoming that day. read more

I love Peet's Coffee (Major Dickason's Blend rules) and was so happy to move near one. Their Soy Latte is the best non-dairy espresso drink I've had. I love the fact that I can get a Freddo w/ soy as well (since I love Ice Blended's but don't do dairy anymore). The coffee is always fresh and brewed right; kills Charbucks. Customer service has been mixed so far, but that's the same everywhere. The outdoor seating at this location is great, but since it's a corner store, the interior is very dark. Great for those using their laptops, but not the best for just sitting and reading. Free wifi, but limited to two hours (you have to ask for code, which is a bit annoying). Get a free drink by giving them your email address and get a discount every time you reload a gift card. Til I find a truly awesome mom & pop java joint that I can patronize regulary, Peets will be my go-to coffee spot. read more

Pete's coffee never lets me down wherever I go! Consistent quality and taste each time. SB Peet's has been nothing but welcoming and helpful as I've now visited twice in two days. Staff helped me set up an account with Peet's and gave real opinion of their food items leading me to a maple scone. I will say I asked if the scone was dry and the staff stated yes more than some of the other scones, however if you warm it up it softens a bit and melts the maple which helps to bring out the flavor so I decided to try. Verdict! yes it was on the dry side but mixed w the melty maple icing, the warm latte the warm scone it was a party in my mouth and was worth the buy. If you want to sit and relax for a few grab a coffee/tea here and just enjoy the coming and going than this is the Peet's for you. read more

Pretty standard/ Hot coffee, friendly attentive service, free wi fi, plenty of table inside and out, nice sea turtle fountain,awww. They had free samples of some Ethiopian coffee roasted with figs in the French which always nice. Server asked how I liked it so good coffee nerd chat. Decided to come to this Peet's since I was running errands in the same shopping center where it's located. Service is nice and fast. Almond milk latte I ordered was ok. Snickerdoodle cookie was big, a little stale, not the worst I've had. This wasn't Peet's fault, but was annoying: All table/chairs were taken. Not all by bodies though. Multiple people had their belongings sprawled over chairs and tables when other people could've sat there. I watched a customer ask a lady who was sitting in a space with 2 tables and 4 chairs if he could sit down and she replied by saying she was using the space. Yes, she was using the space. As usual, seating inside is full however despite the crowd, service was excellent and quick. Dear Howard Schultz~ Its hard to watch your baby "Starbucks" melt away under these difficult economic times. The days of long lines, $5 lattes, world domination, coffee bean monopolies are seemingly comming to an end. Don't worry, you still have a faithfully following. Unfortunately, places like Coffee Bean, Daily Grind, and Peet's are making in roads to your once impenetrable fortress. Its a valiant effort that you revived your role of CEO, but its probably too little too late. There's nothing wrong with sharing the market. Your empire was waaaayyy to busy with growth, store expansions, and earnings. So busy that you forgot the lil people who were forever dedicated to you and you started streamling things so your empire can dominate like darth vader once did. Anyhow, drop by Peet's someday, and you can see why you are losing business. Staff is extremely friendly and more efficient than your barristas. Especially those 'trainees' who are nice as heck but dont have a clue how to get you in and out. Lastly, your coffee is still one of the strongest brews.....unfortunately its not enough to sway me from Peet's. Good luck with your lawsuit for the Supersonics....and hopefully you and your empire can find your way out of the dark side. Cheers. My new local Peet's....thank god they have one that is somewhat close by my house. This store rocks and the manager is fabulous....nice, friendly , always smiling and is great with the customers. If you are retired and need something to do in the early mornings- show up here because it always seems like a great group of elderlies (dressed up in their best colorfully, striped Members only jackets) collect here at the tables and share sweet and funny stories while drinking a good old cup of decaf.... This won't be a long review. It's a good coffee shop. Great drinks. I enjoy the signature drinks but I usually take an americano. If I must add something it's usually heavy cream which they do have here but you have to ask. But the americano has a nice crema and it is great espresso. My only grip is I don't get reception here and the WiFi is SLOOOWWWW. Other than that, it's great clean and people are friendly. The toaster pastries are good too, only food I've had tho. 5 stars! read more

I'm giving you a 3 for two reasons. Line out the door for 30 mins consistent with 2 people working on a Saturday. Not good for the customer. And your Fog drinks are a waste of money no matter the reason you call it "like Fog from San Francisco". It's just a 1/2 cup of hibiscus tea overcharged. read more
