Pegasus is a little hard to find if you don't know what your'e looking for, or arriving after dark. Once I found it, the food was not great, but not bad. I had a salad and a burger, both middle-of-the-road. I've heard the gyros are great, but I haven't had one. The setting was charming - it feels like someone's old ranch house that they converted. American, Mexican, Greek, Mediterranean - All at the same restaurant. What's wrong with this picture? Nothing! This was our first time to Pegasus On the Square. The owner John met us at the front desk and after explaining the daily specials led us to our table and said our server would be right with us. He asked our names and referred to us by name the rest of the time we were there. He came by during our meal and we noticed that he spent time with all the guests there. Our server was friendly and prompt. The menu was definitely eclectic, but it was strangely balanced. My only gripe was that the wine selection was not as diverse as the food menu. I had the Grecian Lunch Platter and my wife had the French Dip. We could have ordered breakfast as they serve it until two. John later told me that the Souvlaki and eggs was very popular. The overall atmosphere was comfortable and quiet considering it was during a busy Friday afternoon lunch time. I did find it kind of strange eating a Greek lunch while looking at Western/Cowboy art. So, will we be back? Yes. As weird as it sounds, we liked the place and will make it a regular stop whenever we pass through town looking for a place to eat. Been here twice. The first time I loved it!! I had the salmon eggs Benedict and it was delicious. The second time I had a platter type breakfast. I didn't like it. The eggs were dry and I got one lousy sausage link. I even didn't care for the pancakes. So I'd be kind of careful with what u order. read more

This was a fallback for Fourth of July brunch when the places we wanted to go were closed. The fact that they were one of the few places open in the area lets me overlook the sluggish service and especially the slow seating times (no wait to seat, just no host/ess at the front). The bacon was lackluster, the french toast nothing to write home about. The food overall was lukewarm and even cold in some cases. I don't think I would try here again, but frankly, if you are deciding on this review, you should give them a chance. It feels like my experience was sub-par due to the day/time. read more

This is a good non-chain in CR. Good food, casual atmosphere, easy to take the kids. It's all about the green chile for me really. It is good and hot, with lots of pork. Oh the Huevos Rancheros! The refried beans are awesome and the potatoes crispy and good, too! The portion is huge, and worth every penny. Pegasus is a restaurant that has a little of everything on their menu. You can find something on the menu from pretty much any genre you are hungry for that day. I have been there twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. The breakfast menu had a lot of variety as noted above. I got an omelet with potatoes and toast. It was good food but certainly nothing to write home about. For lunch I got the fish and chips. Again, the food was good not great. Portion sizes were large. Service was good. The restaurant itself is neat as I believe it is in an old house. Overall, I would say it is a bit overpriced for what you get. It would be an excellent place to take a group though. The varied menu should allow everyone to find something they can eat. read more

Castle Rock is a little light on culinary cuisine, if you know what I mean. I do have to give a little love to this joint. Nothing fancy and nothing quick, but after a night of beatin up my liver I wouldn't mind sliding into a slow breakfast. Don't sit up front unless you're doing the kids thing. Trust old Jerome- head in back and get your relax on. So the easiest way to find Pegasus is to look for a big techni-color winged horse in front of the restaurant on Jerry Street. This is probably different than the flying stallion that ancient Greeks had in mind, produced when Poseidon boned Medusa. It has a soda can for a tail. Seriously... a soda can. The inside of the restaurant has a better vibe. The place has decent salads and they serve American and Greek fast food. If you are hungry in Castle Rock this is not a bad way to go. read more

Loved it. Went there with a large group (about 50-60) and had the whole patio reserved for us. The all-you-can-eat Greek buffet was delicious and both the buffet staff and the waitresses were attentive and genuinely nice. I am a big gyro fan. Unfortunately, the gyros here are just okay. The salad, fries, and service were similarly "middle of the road".

They do Greek and Mexican which is somewhat of a weird combination. I ordered off the Greek side and I was not overly happy with the food that I received. The gyro was bland and wasn't very memorable. I have to agree with P.T. on their review - it was spot on. read more

I'm surprised this place averages at 3 stars. Perhaps because though the service can be slow, the service is friendly and the value of food combined with ambiance is very good, especially for the prices. Pegasus is very popular for Sunday brunch, and it's very pretty building with sections that keep the noise level down and make it seem a little more intimate. In the summer the courtyard has large trees and is sunny and beautiful. I can only rate their American food and breakfast, as I haven't had their Greek or Mexican options. The fish and chips are great, the french dip sandwich is awesome, and their eggs benedict is as good as any breakfast locale. I recommend it. read more

Good ambiance, but so-so food. This former church definately has a charm about it, and the waitstaff tend to be friendly. The menu features items like gyros that are difficult to find at other restaurants in Castle Rock, but I wouldn't highly recommend this restaurant nevertheless. The staff are sometimes disorganized, but worse than the logistics is the food. Think french fries frozen in a bag and hamburgers in a pre-processed disk. Nothing I've tried on the menu rises above the quality level of roadside diner. If you're looking for more charm, quality and sophistication in the menu, I'd instead recommend "The Old Stone Church" or "Augustine Grill", both within a couple of blocks. read more

We took a friend here for her birthday. The staff seemed a little disorganized. We had called for a reservation earlier but were 1 person short of the required 8 people needed to reserve. Upon arrival we were told they just gave out the last big table and we would have to wait. No problem but we saw them seat some 5 and 6 guest parties that came after us. As it became frustrating they opened another section and sat us in a really nice room. The service from that point on was great. The food was even better. We ordered some off the breakfast menu and some off the lunch. Everyone's plate made you wish you ordered that too. The waffle was crispy brown on the outside and so delicious. The gyro was super tasty. Burgers and tuna melt also were received with high marks. We would definitely go back here. read more

Man, what can be as weird as Mexican and Greek coexisting on the same dinner card! But it does and it works. I've been eating here since the old days when it was over on Wilcox Street. Nice, clean family-run, family-oriented restaurant. I love the ambiance and decor. And I enjoy their food, too. I think it's the only joint in Castle Rock where you can get a gyros. I think they do a good job with the chimichanga. They have a huge and tasty breakfast burrito, and one of my favorite lunches is the Grecian Plate. The bar is hit or miss as far as clientele, but the service (at the bar) is good. I've heard of other people having bad or slow service in the dining room, and I confess that there was this one time, long ago, when I experienced that, too. This place gets me in a mix of sorts. I love that its a small business, serves ok food, allows dogs on the patio, has a good mix of food, etc.... BUT, the service is always lacking and the food, though they have a good mix, should be narrowed down to one thing they are good at, not 100 things they are mediocre at. I visit there because its handy, and not overly expensive, but I get what I expect, and I dont expect much from this place. One thing of note, not pertaining to the food or service. We once called the owner about donating a gift card for a particular charity event. The owner was crass and rude, and by far the least helpful person we have encountered in organizing these events. It appears he doesnt have the same community feel that a lot of other small Castle Rock business' do, and therefore, Ill likely patronize them over him in the future. Karma. read more

We absolutely love Pegasus. I feel sorry for all of the people who have left reviews and CLEARLY never worked in the service industry. The servers are exceptionally nice, even though they are understaffed. The juevos rancheros and western quesadilla are SO delicious. And for those who have complaints about long wait times - try reading the chalk board - most weekday mornings it's seat yourself. Today we were in and out in 40 minutes. read more

This is a really nice restaurant. I had never been there for breakfast before. We were a group of 4. Wait staff was very attentive and the food was really good. My husband had Western Quesadilla which he thoroughly enjoyed; appeared to be a bit more "enchilada" style as the tortilla was rolled rather than flat. I had the Huevos Rancheros. This is my go-to breakfast item. I enjoyed mine as well however the green chili sauce had 4-5 pieces of chili skin (about 1/2") which hadn't been appropriately removed after roasting the chilis. I didn't mention it but they were on my plate after finishing. It didn't affect the flavor but I couldn't rate 5 stars. Hopefully it was a one-time thing; won't keep me from going back. The staff of The Castle Pines Connection community newspaper held its monthly staff meeting at Pegasus on the Square today and our entire experience was terrific. Several of us ordered from the lunch menu which was moderately priced with large portions. Others enjoyed a delicious breakfast - having so many choices worked well with our larger party. The separate meeting room provided ample privacy and seating for our group, and our waitress, Sheridan, was attentive and friendly. We were served shortly after ordering, which was nice considering we were there from 11 a.m - 12:30 p.m. If you are looking for a nice place to host a meeting and enjoy good food at the same time, give Pegasus on the Square a try. read more

We eat here whenever we go to castle rock. Normally it's really tasty. Today I tried breakfast which was big mistake. Never again! French toast was pathetic. Eggs overcooked and overpriced. I'm sticking with thr regular lunch or dinner menu next time. Hubby likes the Greek food. Ps don't expect excellent service. Never ever happens as you will constantly ask for refills. Eh this place is nothing special. Came in here to have breakfast yesterday expecting it to be great from all the reviews, but many problems arose during my visit. First off the food took about 35-40 minutes to be delivered to our table, they weren't busy and we had very simple orders such as pancakes, biscuits and gravy, kids meal, etc and when it did arrive it wasn't anything special, definitely have had better breakfast elsewhere. The waiter was a very nice guy, but I think he was overly tired and spent to much time out the night before (he had visible black xs on his hands from being under 21 at a bar/nightclub) and he kept forgetting our drinks which we had to keep reminding him. This restaurant is the embodiment of Castle Rock cuisine. I've been coming here with my family and friends since 1991, and I have not been disappointed once. I even had pegasus cater my wedding back in the day. Never once when I've eaten here have I been disappointed- the food is great, the service is great, and the restaurant is beautiful. Sundays are very busy, which means we have to wait which we understand because there are lines out the door. But it's worth it- every component of this restaurant runs incredibly smoothly from the friendly and competent hosts to the experienced servers and amicable owners. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. read more

Has an older ambiance with church pews for seating. I had the Mexican eggs which were delicious. I wasn't sure if the beans were vegetarian so I didn't eat them. The hash browns were more what I would call home fries. They were okay. I prefer more seasoning. They can accommodate food allergies. read more

We have dined at Pegasus a number of times - the atmosphere is delightful, love the patio in the summer and inside is so interesting with the history of the restaurant. This is a family owned restaurant and I cannot think of a time we have been there that one of the family members has not stopped by to say hello. The food is delicious - their home made green chili is good on everything. The service is over the top - they are always attentive to our needs and so friendly it is apparent they are pleased to serve us. This is definitely our favorite restaurant in Castle Rock. It saddens me to see bad reviews for here. :( read more
