I've had the chance to eat there twice now--once inside the restaurant and once out on their patio--and both experiences were great. The patio is especially nice on a sunny Colorado day. I ordered the filet mignon salad, and honestly it was to die for. At first I thought it was a little unusual that the salad came with fingerling potatoes, but wow... it totally works. Steak and potatoes are a classic pairing, and somehow putting them on a salad just makes it even better. The filet was cooked perfectly and everything tasted really fresh. My husband ordered a sandwich (I wish I could remember exactly which one), but he really enjoyed it and said the French fries were excellent too. The Benedict has a very rich and unique taste. It's not bad, just different. The million dollar bacon is way too sweet. It tastes like bacon cake which if that's your jam you'll love it. We loved this place when it was Tribe but our one complaint is when at capacity you can't even hear the person across the table from you. I don't mind a mild roar but this is like people are standing next to you screaming in your ear. Look, we support local businesses and this place is no exception. I think that we had very high hopes for this place and our fist round was fairly average. The service was good and, again, people who work here seem to take real pride in the restaurant so kudos for that for sure! BTW, they are starting to do dinner Thursday-Sunday. Came here on a Friday morning. Me and my dad were trying to kill time and were a tad hungry so we opted to share an avocado toast. They have plenty of different seating types from bar seating, to table top, couch and booth. Very cute spot! We were seating right away, and ordered drinks and the toast. Our waitress was great though, she was attentive and the food did come out quickly. Since the toast was $17 we expected it to be a little more substantial. Unfortunately it was a pathetic lol the toast was soggy and fairly small. It was not worth the $17 at all. The two orange juices and they were an absurd price as well, did not taste fresh at all and seems to be very watered down. For two people sharing a breakfast and two drinks it was over $45. Did not seem worth it to me, left fairly disappointed. I am sure that there are better things to order and if I come back next time I will be sure to try something else and update. Finally many moons later I had brunch in Castle Rock and it was amazing! Thanks to my colleague for the rec. Such a cute place and luckily the weather was nice enough to sit outdoors. Even indoors the aesthetic is cute! My husband got the French toast, I got the chilaquiles and we split the million dollar bacon and drop biscuits with Calabria honey butter. Everything was verrrrrrry delicious! I am lucky w chilaquiles and these were good. The bacon was also tasty and I may or may not have taken the honey butter to go lol. Wow....just wow!!! Elevate your dining room experience! Stopped by for breakfast and absolutely LOVE this place. Interior has amazing attention to detail with the elegant tables and lighting. Very warm atmosphere. Even the tables had a nice distressed wood look. Server was friendly and attentive. Ordered the breakfast tacos with corn tortillas and green salsa. BEST breakfast taco I have ever had! Fresh tortillas with eggs, potatoes, and just the right amount of chorizo and high quality diced bacon! Great pico de gallo and diced jalapeños too! Yum! Our food was absolutely delicious. All four of us really enjoyed our lunch. We ate off both the breakfast and lunch menu and split a cinnamon roll to start. Do. Not. Skip. The. Cinnamon roll. Trust me. Our server was super friendly and very on top of things and the restaurant itself was cute. Two nits: the saxophone player was talented, but the volume was too high and when I made the reservation they asked if we wanted a table or high top - I said a table, but we were sat at a high top. I loved this restaurant. Yes, it was beautiful (except the bathrooms), they had a live saxophonist, whom was excellent. Sadly, the food. Oh no! The waiter said everything was "fire." He must not eat out often, because it was far from "fire." The do have an excellent happy hour, but don't get the artichokes (I didn't order them, but the table next to us did and they did NOT look good), don't get the tacos. They had ZERO seasoning, the meat, the sauces, nothing had flavor. No spice, no salt, oh it was killing me. It was just a greasy taco with bland sauce. UGH The fries were good. That is it. We finally made it here for Sunday brunch, and boy are we glad we did. The service was welcoming and easy -- no putting on airs, just comfortable, like dining with old friends. The seating was comfy. Although it was loud inside, it was fine for us, but then the tables were not all taken. And the food was swoon worthy. We visited Wide Awake Eatery in Castle Rock on a busy Monday during the long holiday weekend. Even with a 40-minute wait, the host was friendly and welcoming, setting a great tone for our visit. Once seated, we were lucky enough to have Max as our server--he was absolutely one of the best we've had anywhere. We started with the Million Dollar Bacon, which arrived quickly and was delicious. My husband ordered the Burger and I ordered the Veggie Benedict. Both looked fantastic, but unfortunately, my eggs were cooked hard instead of runny. When Max checked on us, I mentioned it wasn't a big deal and that I'd still eat it since the restaurant was so busy. Without hesitation, Max let the Owner know, and the Owner personally came over to make it right. He had a fresh Benedict sent out, asked me to cut into the eggs at the table, and when they were still not runny, he insisted on trying again. The third time was the charm, and another server brought it out perfectly prepared. While it took a couple of tries, the way the Owner and Max handled the situation was nothing short of exceptional. Their commitment to making sure we had a great experience really stood out. It seemed like the chef that day might not have been the regular one, but the customer service more than made up for the hiccup. The silver dollars were super yummy, but the portion size was way too SMALL! This could easily be two or three regular pancakes for the same price. Did I mention the tiny sized OJ for $8??? It's infuriating that all of these new restaurants have opened up downtown, but they're way over priced. Not everyone In Douglas County is wealthy. Walked into Wide Awake Eatery for lunch. Got immediately greeted by Katie, words to describe her: intelligent, kind, caring, generous and fun. She asked us for our seating preferences and told us that the restaurant's first full day of operation was just last Sunday. Katie also took our orders and we were quickly served a beautiful steak salad and a club sandwich. Portions were generous, well presented and correctly prepared. The food tasted even better than it looked! The space is beautiful, inside and out. Couldn't sit outside by the creek because of rain. Every part of the experience was great. Amazing location and great atmosphere. Unfortunately that's where the good parts end. Food was lukewarm and mediocre (at best), and the service abysmal - despite the restaurant being slow. Asked our server for the same thing three times (sugar for coffee), which she never actually managed to successfully complete. Also had to walk my drink (a soda water) to the bar for a refill, where she stood poking at her phone while the bartender took care of it instead. To top it all off, the entire place was blasted by loud country music - which alone is enough to make anyone lose their appetite. Doubt this place will manage to survive it's first year. read more

I was excited to ry this place after reading the reviews and even talked it up to friend to meeting me for brunch/lunch. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short. I waited at the hostess stand for quite a while, made eye contact with several employees and was never acknowledged. Eventually, a very kind waitress noticed and said with a smile, "I'm not sure where the hostess is but I'll seat you!" She was the only bright spot in the entire visit. Once seated, the noice level was distracting-but no nearly as distracting a the lack of service and the freezing temperatures. One table was seated outside and sliding glass door was apparently right next to us which they repeatedly left wide open. I kept closing it, only to have it reopened and left open. We were cold the entire meal. I asked for Hollandaise sauce on the side, ut it wasn't served that way and we didn't see the waiter again until the check. The food itself was very disappointing, the tomato on the Benedict was so old and mush and the arugula wilted and slimy. Between the non existent service (minus the one kind waitress) poor food quality and freezing indoor temperatures, I have no desire to return. read more
