Trish Spaeth here and my family have eaten at Pegasus ever since John and Jeanie Delay first opened on Wilcox Street in Castle Rock. Every item on their menu that we've eaten has been perfectly cooked and so delicious. I'm an excellent cook and I know great food.... And their food is definitely 5 Star!!!! John and Jeanie are always at the restaurant and are always so welcoming to all of the people who come in to eat! They train the wait staff to be polite and friendly and accommodating. Great food, service, and place! We enjoy taking our kids here for breakfast or lunch and walking downtown or hitting a park. The patio's great once the weathers nice too. Ask for Steven or suspenders as your waiter on the weekends. He's attentive, kind, and always offers smiles and laughter. All in all one of our favorites. read more

After we got our food, paid our bill- the inebriated owner came out and YELLED at us in front of other customers because he said we didn't tip enough. ONE, we DID tip, and TWO , TIPS ARE OPTIONAL. If you pay your employees a livable wage instead of screaming at paying customers, you won't run into this issue. There was quite a wait for two people and it was PACKED. The ambiance was good, it was very loud though. Our server was fabulous! Very attentive staff. The food was very yummy. Absolutely love this place and the fact that it has been open for quite some time in Castle Rock. Loved that the seating was made out of old church pews. I ordered the breakfast burrito and a side of French toast. The burrito was packed and smothered with green chili and the French toast was the perfect sweet complement to my savory dish. First time here after reading lots of locals rave about it for breakfast. The 3.5 star average is about right. Cute house turned into a restaurant. Showed up a little after 9 before the Saturday rush hit. Service started out slow but got better. The gyro meat on the Grecian platter was the best I've found in CR so far. Eggs and potatoes were a bit bland. I didn't care for the tzatziki sauce. My wife had the vegetarian burrito. She liked it but thought it had a lot more potato than egg. You should never still be hungry after eating a breakfast burrito. Coffee was good. Someone has said it's Bearded Man. Not sure if that's true or not. We'll come back for lunch/dinner to focus on the Greek food. read more

I was here before a long time ago so I stopped in again and it was definitely worth it. I had the Grecian platter and it was delicious. The meats were tender and wonderfully spiced, and all the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The only thing I would want is more dolmades; there was only one and it was so delicious, I wish there were more! I tasted the burrito as well and it was also very tasty. Old Mom and Pop restaurant, feels like home. The kind of place where the staff remembers your name. Our waiter "Suspenders" was awesome he knew the history of the building and told us all about the homemade items. Apparently they have 3 brothers in the kitchen who have been there since the 80's. Run, don't walk to the best chicken wings in Castle Rock! I love how they serve the sauce on the side. You have a choice over mild, medium and hot. Perfectly cooked, so crispy! Our service was also amazing! The name of our server was either Jamie or Oliver (menopause brain, sorry) We sat outside and it's the perfect weekend brunch space. And YES! Doggies are welcome! If only I could talk this place into moving to my hometown. What a delicious and highly enjoyable experience we had here a few days ago. Our party of 5 initially wanted indoor seating but there was nothing quite spacious enough at the time of our arrival, so we ended up on the back patio. What a treat this turned out to be, with ample shade from beautiful trees and plenty of space between tables. An added plus for us was that it's dog friendly! Our party ordered an array of items, including the chilladas (BOMB), pancakes, eggs, etc. And mimosas! Each of us was more than satisfied with our choice, and the food came out hot and within a reasonable amount of time. Our server was very attentive without being overbearing. There were so many items that I wanted to try, but I can't pass on anything with green chili (which I can't get at home), so I guess we'll just have to keep visiting Pegasus next time we're in Castle Rock. It's not often that I can get my daughter to eat REAL food. She often chooses fast food like Chick-fil-A or the sugar from Dutch Bros. Took her to breakfast yesterday morning. I saw the menu and figured I'd have a problem since it was real food. She ordered herself a country burrito. I ordered a chicken fried steak. The food arrived and, at first, it was very visually appealing. My next thought was, "Wow! That's a lot of food!" I didn't say it out loud but my daughter says, "OMG, this burrito is huge! I don't think I'll eat all of this." That's typical for her since she turns her nose up to food that doesn't have a dumb logo and in a box(she's 17.) The next thing I heard was, "WOW! This gravy is SOOOOOOO good!" Moments later, she wasn't talking anymore. It was all about eating the burrito. She couldn't stop eating it. I kept hearing how full she was but she DIDN'T want to take it home. She wanted to finish her plate. That NEVER happens! My chicken fried steak was outstanding. I wanted to finish my plate as well but couldn't. I had to take the leftovers home to snack on throughout the day. We both loved our breakfast and the potatoes that came along with them. This place has never disappointed anyone in our family or when we bring family visiting. I always get the breakfast burrito with green chili. Tried out another breakfast spot this weekend! Huge hit with us being that its so close to home with easy parking, fast/great service, & quick seating from 7:45 AM on a Saturday when we arrived all the way to around 8:30 AM when more folks started showing up. The front is very unassuming as the restaurant is a converted house so it had flown under our radar for awhile. The inside was fantastically decorated to where you don't even feel like you're in Castle Rock anymore; there's so much fun character! I got the crab eggs benedict special & my husband got the breakfast burrito. We both loved our meals & felt perfectly full after. I think the only thing missing would be mimosas or some other fun breakfast cocktails. If they serve them I didn't see anything mentioned on the menu. We plan on coming back to try their dinner service! read more

Pegasus is a wonderful casual breakfast and lunch restaurant. It has been a Castle Rock staple for many years, and appreciated by many locals. Along with many others I was saddened by their recent temporary closure, but had breakfast there last Thursday and John and all the wonderful staff are back and doing a great job! read more

Solid eggs Benedict with plenty of hollandaise. They had a crab Benedict special with real crab meat and it was pretty good. Didn't feel skimped on crab, would like to try their other options sometime. Their country biscuits are quite excellent as well and I would encourage you to get a satellite biscuit to sop up the extra hollandaise/egg goodness. Not sure how good the gravy is, but an extra biscuit is totally worth buying. Coffee is good, hash browns seems to be from fresh potatoes, price was reasonable. Place is pretty good sized so there wasn't much of a wait. Inside was kind of cool looking with some medieval and church decor. Service was average. They had a pretty wide variety on their menu. We have been coming here for 6 years. Pegasus has been apart of our family life on Sundays as we would come here before church and enjoy a delicious breakfast and leave. We've donated toys to the restaurant over the years for when children come such a little baby toys. HOWEVER, today was such a sad lack of hospitality. There are only a few places to sit outside while you wait. With three children after about 15 min of waiting my children wanted to explore the area. They were having fun jumping off of the low, 12 inch rocks into my husbands arms. The older lady manager with black hair sent a host out to let us know our children could no longer do that... So we obliged and just hoped to get sat soon so our 6, 4 and 2 year old could sit and eat. We were told 10 min and it took over 20. Fine! We did what we could to entertain the children without just shoving a tablet in front of their face(not that I don't have to do that sometimes). After that we were sat at our table by the window. My 2 year old was being a blabbering babe in her high chair safely buckled in. My 6 year old was resting on my lap and our 4 year old, mind you very ADHD Autistic was just looking at the ceiling at the reflection of the water from an outside fountain. Enamored, he asked what the waves were on the ceiling and my husband explained it is a reflection from the water outside. My 4 year old gets very intrigued with his condition and when he does, it's beautiful because he will be quiet and stare and just try to understand. So he stood up in our bench to just look out the window at the water. Then after about 2 min of my sons silent wondering, the older lady with black hair, I believe she's an owner or manager, asked us to just have our son sit down... I told my husband let's just go because I felt under a microscope this whole experience... My husband said, "He's not doing anything wrong he's just looking out the window." She replied, "Well, are you going to clean the windows?" I interrupted immediately and asked her to look at how filthy my window was with finger prints, grease and water marks all over and said, "Ma'am do you see how filthy my window is?" She said, "Yes." And then she came up with another reason, "What if he falls?" My husband said, there is no where for him to fall... except for maybe on me..." MIND YOU my child is legit just looking out the window... not banging on it, licking on it, smearing on it... just studying how the water reflects onto the ceiling... so I just said, "We will just leave as I don't feel like this is a family friendly atmosphere for children." She legit said, "That's not true, we have children come in here all the time with parents that parent." I then let her know our son is just autistic and we were just doing the best we can as he wanted to look out the window at the water. She said, "Well then tell me that." I just like don't go around announcing I have a special son to everyone as I try to protect his dignity... What?! I was stunned at first the comment about washing the windows and now being told we are not parenting? Like I was the one who asked them to switch out a chair at the end of our booth for my two year old for a high chair and legit just wanted to go to our first breakfast out in maybe 6 months since the economy went down on our family a little. It was simply a very hurtful experience in a hospitality industry. read more

I seriously couldn't believe it. Decided to go in for breakfast with my two year-old grandson as we always do. There was a woman who is seating people who I've never seen before. I expressed the desire for a highchair. She brought it and because I didn't immediately put him in. It asked if I needed assistance and putting him in it. I said no I was fine. Then he walked around a little bit and went to a hanging window to look at it. He must've barely touched it because it moved a little and she said that that was totally inappropriate for him to be walking around and needs to be confined. I said no problem and put him in his chair. Not his highchair. He stood up in the chair and she raced over to say that that is a liability and he hast to sit down! I said it's OK. You don't have to be rude. She said I'm being rude and I should leave. So we did used to like this restaurant and unfortunately I don't think we'll ever come back. read more
