Been coming here for decades actually. Their soups, particularly the Sizzling Rice and Hot & Sour, are amazing. They're made to order as is the Chicken Fried Rice. The Princess Shrimp, using Joy, the previous owner's recipe, is truly scrumptious. The new owners have spruced the place up so it's a nice, clean place to eat. Not your typical Chinese food joint. Oh goodness did we try Peking Garden our last night. In our search for a local Chinese food spot, we yelped and this place showed up on the list. When you enter you are greeted with shrines(an indication of an authentic Chinese restaurant) the decor is gold and red. The location is open and airy which meant I had to smell all of that awesome food while I waited for my takeout. I ordered the family feast with broccoli beef and another beef dish. This came with fried rice, 5 crab rangoons, 2 spring rolls, bbq pork and 5 fried shrimp and soup! We ordered the hot and sour and the egg flour soup. While waiting I decided we also wanted to try the House Fried rice, 10 pot stickers, sesame chicken and a coke. It was an awesome decision!!! The crab rangoons tasted a bit sour and we will not order those again , however, it did not affect my wanting to try everything! The rest of the food was amazing and there are plenty of leftovers!! what a great experience at peking garden! we got the kung pao tofu, egg drop soup, and mongolian beef. i loved how the tofu dish had some extra veggies down at the bottom. make sure you add some of the sambal style chili sauce to make it extra delicious :) the beef dish was good too, my boyfriend loved how there were a bunch of delicious saucy onions on top "just as mongolian beef should be". he really loved the egg drop soup too, which he said had the exact right kinda thick texture. 2020 is such garbage, food like this makes a huge difference. we will DEFINITELY be back! next time maybe wanton soup? :) read more

Ordered Kung Pao tofu and they put chicken inside it. Claimed that I ordered wrong, but I checked my receipt three times. They refused to even remake it. I would've been fine if they just replaced the dish but they said it was "my fault" so they wouldn't. Why would I order meat if I'm vegetarian? I made it very clear I wanted tofu. read more

This is our second time ordering from Peking Garden. It's our new favorite Chinese food restaurant! The green bean chicken is amazing. Great flavor and the green beans are cooked perfect, crunchy but not too crunchy. The bbq pork fried rice is the best I've had in a really long time. Princess chicken is outstanding. Wow. The few negative reviews seem too harsh to me. First, I don't know what is authentic Chinese food in the US. Unlike Mexican, which comes in authentic and in Tex-Mex, I'm not aware that Chinese is radically different, in the variety and type of dishes offered, from restaurant to restaurant in the US. Second, our water didn't smell like sewer. When I read poor reviews of a place I like, I usually conclude that the negative reviewer may be a poor judge of good food, or may have arrogance issues or some ulterior motive to diss a place. I am a wine taster and a pretty good chef, so if food is bad, I should know it. The food at Peking Garden is pretty good, especially for the portion size and the price. Is it incredible gourmet? No, nor should it be. For us, the staff was very friendly. The food is fresh. I do wish they offered brown rice. You need to tell them if you don't want MSG. The decor is aged but it's clean and it's cool that the place has been around for 50 years! It is an important part of what is a surprisingly good downtown Vancouver vibe. The Gen'l Tso's Chicken was a different take--much lighter crust (lighter in body and in color), and the sauce was lighter in both senses also. But quite good. I asked them to add vegetables to it, and they added carrot, broccoli, water chestnut, and onion for just $.45 more! The veggie Mushu was really great. All veggies were fresh and well-cooked. i have been to this restaurant twice, both times we were rushed out of the restaurant as if we weren't eating fast enough. We were not being unusually loud, or doing anything for them to hurry us out. The waitress went as far as to start boxing up my food when i was distracted momentarily. The other time i was there the waitress grabbed my food without asking and took the plate away before i was done eating, then came back with the bill. read more

We particularly like the Happy Family, Green Beans with Shrimp, and both the Sweet and Sour Shrimp and the Chicken. Princess Chicken is about the only thing great here. I've eaten here a couple times and the food is always okay, but not good enough to take home. Staff is nice, and menu is large, but there is way better Chinese food around town. Also don't be fooled by their grand opening sign. They've been here, and open for awhile. read more

Peking Garden is great! The owners are a lovely couple that seem to be here to fill my dream of tasty American Chinese food not too far from my house :) I ordered the Mongolian chicken, extra spicy, it was fresh, flavorful, hot, quick and had a nice little tang (not hot, but still had lovely flavor). The service was superlatively friendly, and prices were on the slightly cheaper side than some other take out joints. There weren't a lot of folks in here, but the dining room did look clean and not old or crusty. They offer delivery, and I can't wait to take advantage of that! Now, the only sideways part of my review will have to refer to the crab rangoon (crab puffs). I have a fairly comprehensive list of them going now, these weren't bad, but not much flavor, could have used the addition of green onion, white pepper and powered garlic, but they were still fresh and still well packaged for travel when I left. Well I really cant say enough good things about this place, we order at least twice a month and every time family members come up we take them there. This place is really good!! The potstickers are the bomb along with the Sweet Honey Chicken (my Fav) everythng is really good plus they deliver too so what more can i say but.. GO!! :) read more

We love this place, when she has the choice of where we go to dinner my daughter always picks Peking. If we order the green bean dish my husband and I have to make sure to get ours first because she will eat them all. I love their Chicken Sub Gum and the Beef Broccoli is really tasty also. My mom and dad came to town and they said it was The Best Chinese food they have ever had. Mom ordered the Chicken Curry and Dad had the Pork Chow Mien. I ordered the General Tso chicken lunch special. The hot and sour soup that came with it didn't have much flavor besides the hot. Great Taste by VanMall has much better hot and sour soup. My special came with fried rice, fried shrimp, BBQ pork, and fried rice. The shrimp was golden brown and tasty. The pork was moist and had good flavor. The rice was very lightly fried and didn't have much flavor. The chicken was white meat (no mystery bits inside) which I greatly appreciate but there wasn't a lot of meat inside and it was fried maybe a little too long so some pieces were a little tough. The flavor was pretty good although I like much more spice. read more

Hot and Sour Soup OK... Crab Puffs good... And plentiful... Lunch Sized Pork Foo Young was enormous. Everything was hot fresh and tasty... The use of frozen carrots cut into squares somehow blows the presentation... But decent grub. And they have parking. A commodity in the area. read more

Started with the appetizer sampler and it was a lot of food. Crab cream cheese fried wonton, BBQ pork, egg rolls and tempura shrimp all tasty. Had the dinner for 2 and it was enough to feed 4 easily. Sweet and sour chicken is decent. Orange chicken was amazing it was a mix of sweet and salty a little spicy. The service was wonderful. Would eat here again for sure. read more

I love this litte neighborhood chinese resturant. Owned by a couple with with kids that help our in the family business. The service is always great, the owner is always so open and friendly that I love coming here. The food is always made fresh and not too bad You will not get gourmet food here, (which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars) but it's always good and for the price and the service, it's great. Minnie, I think that is the owners name is a totally sweet lady, I love to go eat there with my kids. This is a local small business worth supporting! read more
