I used to love this place. The dumplings are solid and their sauces and delicious. But recently the customer service has gone extremely down. So down that my order gets "lost", or visibly given to anther customer. I've even been given two to-go orders that weren't mine and had to be returned. No. It was dead and yet the person at the bar stood talking to her friend for a good 10 minutes while I waited. She was then grouchy. Dumplings have a bit more of a range of styles and options. Food was no better or worse, just different, and delicious. Staff were utterly friendly and awesome. Happy hour was a steal. Hours are long. One of the dumpling orders we got was very vinegar-heavy for my taste, so take care with those styles if you aren't into acid. I absolutely love Pel'Meni. I'm of the "old school" as I used to frequent the original location in Bellingham often. These dumplings are so delicious and different than the usual late night fare of hotdogs and Dick's burgers. They have this magical curry like seasoning on the dumplings with some house made hot sauce, fresh cilantro, and sour cream on top. Soooo tasty. The new place in Cap Hill is quite a bit different than the B-Ham spot in that it's an actual bar. And of course it being in Cap Hill it fits into that whole hipster vibe thing. But the dumplings are basically the same and at this location they have some new things on the menu like mac and cheese made with the dumplings, which my girlfriend absolutely loved. Awful service. Walked in, empty tables and spots at the bar, but crumpled napkins, empty beer cans and wine glasses scatter on all surfaces. But what do I notice first? He was giving out shots and hitting on the 2 women at the bar (sorry dude, they were making out with each other, so therefore, not likely into you) and B.S.-ing with various patrons he figured were cool. I will spare the details, but this idiot was drunk and saying inappropriate racist things to me (am I a refugee--since I'm asian?--"welcome to America" since I am visiting Seattle but was born in the States? --and congratulating my g.f. for dating an asian guy.) Pretty amazing stuff. I'll let a few things slide given the state of his drunkenness. But what was unacceptable, was waiting 40 minutes for some stupid fucking dumplings and having to ask about them at 2am. Idiot clown claims he made a mistake and forgot...who know. On a visit to Seattle and I have previous enjoyed dumplings at the Pel Meni location in Fremont. My partner and I arrived at approx 1.50am after a night out and were looking forward to a 2am snack. When we asked order, the shop attendant told us he could not help us with our order because we arrived too late to be served. The posted hours say the place closes at 2.30am. Why is 40 mins before posted closing too late to order dumplings on a Saturday night?!? We left disappointed and frustrated about the lack of available service during posted open hours. read more

Great happy hour and food till late! The dumplings are small, so don't worry that you're getting 18 of them. They won't let you do a lot of mixing and matching on your dumpling bowls, but you do get a lot of food for a v reasonable price Definitely comfort food, so don't expect a lot of fanfare with your food service. Maybe it's because I'm Russian, so I wasn't impressed nor was I expecting a traditional experience. I'm sure this place picks up at night, during the bar scene or after. I heard that the drinks are great! I ordered a large order of the traditional beef dumplings and a large order of the potato dumplings. For such a hefty price, the amount of dumplings was barely what I would consider a larger order to be. They were overcooked as well. I also ordered the cucumber salad which was once again, overpriced for the amount. The salad was too runny in my opinion. The order came with a slice of "Russian rye bread" which tasted like a Wonder Bread version of the real thing and it was evident that the bread was not made there. I hadn't eaten Russian dumplings prior to ordering take out from here, but based on the experiences I've had, I'm fairly confident that this is the place you want to go if you're in the mood for Russian food. Their menu has some pretty creative items, but I tend to stay with the Traditional dumplings filled with beef. (Super great!) I got the potato and beef mix, but the potato ones were a bit bland in my opinion. The beef ones just seemed to stand out more. The only complaint I have is that it's a tiny bit pricey, but it's nothing crazy. This has been on my bookmark list for a while. I have never tried Russian food, let alone Russian dumplings so I was excited to experience these! They were interesting.. in a good way! I had no expectations for what they should taste like and I had nothing to compare it too but I enjoyed these! I ordered the classic with a mix of beef dumplings and potato dumplings as a snack. The pictures of the dumplings on Yelp! are very good representations of what you'll be getting. The dumplings come with rye bread and sour cream(?). I wasn't sure if you're supposed to eat the break with the dumplings but I didn't touch the bread. The seasoning on the dumplings are good and have a hint of curry to it but it's very subtle. I thought it was delicious and would come here again. I would definitely recommend people to try it but I wouldn't say that this is somewhere you are required to try if you visit Seattle. If you'll be in Seattle for a while, definitely stop by, if not, there are a bunch of other places you have to eat at before you eat here. read more
