Wow. Another great dining experience at Pelato. This time with some out of town friends and they were truly wowed. The vodka pasta did change a few lives, it's a MUST order. (P.S. great gluten free pasta) Our server, Mandy, was very attentive and let us put in endless rounds of food and drinks! This is the ultimate spot to for a girls dinner, we were able to try so many things! The restaurant was still decorated for the holidays, and made our late-Christmas celebration that much more special. I cannot wait to bring more people here! read more

The absolute worst customer service. For a family owned business I find it amazing how horrible they can be to a customer. I called to cancel a reservation we made for a party of 3. I guess you can't get sick or have any unforeseen circumstances because they still charged my card $60 after giving a 3 hour heads up on canceling. Beware! Just a scam. It's a shame you have to make money off people that way. I also emailed the management giving them a pass on the rude manager I spoke to on the phone and my response was " Reservations for mother's day are made weeks in advance and we weren't able to fill those seats. If you feel that you need to scream from the roof tops how horrible a family owned restaurant is after you cancelled on us and we lost money, then feel free! Did limit service and items that didn't surface server was great in the situation and obviously she was losing money as tables weren't being flipped. I found Pelato on Yelp and was skeptical initially that it would live up to the hype, but I was presently surprised. It was tough to get in at last minute but seating at the bar was available. The restaurant was bustling, it was pretty noisy I will say but not so much so that you couldn't hear others speak. The food was outstanding. Every dish I had was made to incredibly high level of quality. From the pasta to the broccolini and the dessert, overall I was impressed. The restaurant has in-house made gluten free pasta. The server told me I wouldn't know the difference because sometimes, whole parties order it and are shocked to find out it was gluten-free, he wasn't wrong. It was amazing. Kept hearing all the rave reviews of this place so three of my girlfriends decided to give it a go. Let's just say it did not disappoint. Everything is small plate style, you place your order all at once and the yummy just keeps on coming. Ricotta bread was amazing as well as the garlic bread with the heavenly Parmesan sauce. So good you just want to put it on everything. We shared three different pasta dishes and the chicken parm which was my favorite of all the dishes. Everything was so fabulous. Service is top notch and you have one waiter but the food is delivered by a line of worker bees as soon as it's ready. The kitchen and restaurant operate very efficiently. Decided to bring in our third anniversary at the fairly new Brooklyn Style Italian spot in Germantown, Pelato! The vibe and decor has a modern industrial feel, with soft lighting, a mix of seating options, and old-school photos and decor. The vibe is slightly cafeteria-like with all the cinderblock walls, but it added to the character of the place -- and in addition to the interior, they have a wonderful covered patio! The only minor downside was the indoor chairs, which were a bit uncomfortable, and maybe a bit tight on space with one too many tables. But that's a small issue compared to everything else. Now to the food - stellar! The menu offers a tapas/family-style experience, with small plates, meats, pastas, fish, and desserts. Highlights were the burnt broccolini (absolutely phenomenal) and the Pelato salad, which was fresh, crisp, sweet, and tangy. We also tried the meatballs, which were unexpectedly spicy but delicious, and the Pelato ravioli, which was perfect. To finish, we rounded out our meal with the vanilla bean gelato! Service was wonderful too. They welcomed us with a "Happy Anniversary" greeting, and Tala, our server, made sure we were well taken care of. Although there's no dedicated parking, there is a paid lot nearby and ample street parking in the neighborhood. I really wanted this place to have great Italian dishes, but it was a big miss. The atmosphere was busy and fun, but the dishes were marginal. The best item was the Pelato salad! The burnt broccolini was over sauced in my opinion and over powered the dish. The basic buttered garlic bread and stuffed mushrooms were underwhelming as well. The Sunday sauce had great meat and sauce, but paired with sad over cooked pasta. Truly more of a two star experience, but the service was amazing! read more

If I can recommend just one thing to get from here, it would be the Vodka Pasta. We decided to try this place out based on so many recommendations on social media, almost every video I came across said to try out Pelato. While the plates are small, it's meant to be shared family style and you can try out other dishes. Drinks - Brooklyn Brewery Lager: My husband ordered this drink to try out, he said it tasted pretty good. - Apple Ginger Spritz: I was really wanting to try out their famous Espresso Martini, but I knew I would be up all night if I got it, so I asked our kind waiter what he recommended regarding cocktails on the lighter & sweeter side, I decided to go with this. I really enjoyed this drink, it wasn't too strong, but tasty and really great with our dinner. Appetizers - Fresh House-made Mozzarella: While I loved the idea of the house made cheese, it wasn't our favorite. It was good, and glad we got to try it, but will not be ordering again. - Street Style Arancini: I was looking forward to these, and I loved the sauce it came with. One of the better Arancini that I've had. - Potato Croquettes: My husband wanted to get this because he said it looked good, and while we all enjoyed it, just like the mozzarella it just was't our favorite. Meats - Meatballs Al Forno: This was what my husband said he would come back for, my father in law and my husband devoured this meatball. - Chicken Marsala: My mother in law wanted to order this, while myself and my husband din't necessarily enjoy this, she did. I thought the cutlet was too thin, and the sauce was a little too salty. My husband wasn't a fan that there were more mashed potatoes than chicken that you can barely tell there was any meat on the plate. Pastas - Radiatori Vodka: ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! It was creamy, the kind of pasta that was used was the perfect choice for it because the sauce was able to get into the little crevice of the pasta. It was creamy and all around chef's kiss! - Bucatini Cacio E Pepe: We all liked this pasta as well, I think my father in law enjoyed it more than the rest of us, he loved the cracked black pepper in it. Dessert - San Gennaro Zeppoles: I would skip on this dessert, it was a nice ending to our dinner, but it was just missing something in the middle since it was a little dense. A light filling inside would have been good, but overall it's not a bad choice just wasn't our favorite. Like I said, the pasta was the star of the our dinner here, and whenever we are back in town, it would quite literally be the only thing I order from here, and I'm sure my husband would probably order a couple meatballs as well! read more

We split a few things and every dish was just incredible. The frozen espresso martini and lemon drop were the best we have had. Pelato is a staple for anyone living in Nashville -- and for good reason. Their signature Radiatori Vodka is an absolute must. I've tried quite a few dishes here, and nearly all of them have been solid hits. The only miss for me was the dark chocolate panna cotta from the Valentine's Day menu -- it had an almost grainy texture that really took away from what should've been a silky, smooth dessert. A bummer, especially since I'm usually a huge panna cotta fan. On the flip side, The Cloud rice pudding is one of my favorite desserts I've had in the city. Pelato is almost always packed, but if you don't have a reservation, you might just snag a seat by the bar. It's also a go-to spot for birthdays, thanks to the fun touch of sparklers they bring out to celebrate with an order of dessert. What a fantastic Sunday supper celebrating my husband's 60th birthday with our friends! Pelato is the cutest Italian restaurant with a welcoming vibe. The original restaurant was established in Brooklyn NY so we now have it on our bucket list for NYC! We were greeted at the door by the friendliest hostesses and enjoyed a bottle of wine (Evan helped with the selection) at the bar waiting for our group to arrive. Once seated our waitress, Blayne did a great job serving our group of 6! We all ordered the Sunday dinner for 2 and we had an abundance of delicious food on our table!! The pasta and sauce was my favorite dish and I ate way too much! We finished the evening with a special birthday dessert and espresso martinis. We were here with a large party and I give them a ton of credit for the excellent service that we got being such a large party. I am going to struggle to tell you everything that we got because it was tapas style and there were many things but I will say everything was good or better except for one thing and I will single out the highlights and the low lights. The bread was very good. I really liked the sesame seeds on it that gave it a slightly different flavor than I was expecting in a good way. The potatoes were fantastic and I would happily have eaten so many more of them would be garlic, dipping sauce, Parmesan cheese they were amazing crispy flavor bombs. I also like the chicken Parm, which normally I don't like at restaurants because it ends up being too soggy, this one still had the right amount of crunch to it. The spaghetti caci and Pepe or something he said incredibly peppery to me and I say that as somebody who put pepper on a lot of food. I will say that a lot of other people like it I'm not usually a pasta person so don't take my word for it. But the lemon sorbet was hands-down. The worst thing I have ever been served at any restaurant. And everyone around me agrees with me. It is the most sour thing I have ever had, and I am somebody who has aggressively tracked down extra super ultra Omega sour warheads candy for the sake of the experience. The lemon sorbet tasted like frozen Pine-Sol and literally no one around me took a second bite unless it was to make sure the first bite was actually correct in how bad it was. We finished all of the other food and left nothing and the rest of it was great. I am still dumbfounded by that one if it is supposed to be a pallet cleanser, it is like a bazooka for a single fly. I cannot stress enough how shockingly awful it was and it should be taken off the menu immediately as I have yet to talk to anybody who liked it out of 50+ people. read more

The meatballs were well .... overpriced meatballs. The calamari had a bunch of sweet veggies on it. WTF!! The garlic bread was basic. They even up charge you $2 for a few spoons of marinara sauce. Yes it's dark. Make sure you turn your flashlight on to read the fine print. The broccolini was so damn doused in that sauce that it was limp!! There is no authenticity nor anything special about the food. They even eluded to a free birthday dessert and ended up charging us $12 for Tiramisu that was seriously bad (blobs of cream with maybe 2-3 ladyfinger bits and sugar enough to spike your BP to new heights!!). Pelato was an incredible restaurant. Our waitress was fantastic, and we loved the tapas-style approach to Italian dining -- it let us sample several dishes instead of committing to just one entrée, which made the whole experience fun and memorable. Every dish we tried was delicious, and by the end of the meal, we were absolutely stuffed. Compared to some of the other restaurants we tried in Nashville that weekend, Pelato struck the perfect balance of quality and value. It wasn't the most expensive meal, but it easily ranked among the most enjoyable. The concept reminded us a lot of one of our favorite spots back home in Dallas, Il Bracco -- approachable, vibrant, and full of flavor -- yet casual enough that you could eat there a couple of times a month. We also appreciated that it got us out of the downtown Four Seasons area and into another neighborhood, giving us a chance to explore a different side of Nashville. It's clear this place is doing something special. I learned they have a sister restaurant with a similar concept, and I'd absolutely try it next time we're in town. As someone who eats gluten-free, I'm usually skeptical about pasta restaurants--but Pelato completely blew me away. Their homemade gluten-free pasta is truly the best I've ever had. Perfect texture, rich flavor, and paired with sauces that taste like they came straight out of a kitchen in Italy. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything hit. The creamy red sauce pasta was silky and comforting, and the pesto orecchiette had layers of flavor with every bite. But the charred broccolini was something special--smoky, tender, and sitting in the most addictive spiced oil. I'm still thinking about it. The crispy polenta with whipped ricotta was golden perfection, and the burrata with heirloom tomatoes was fresh, creamy, and beautifully balanced. The cocktails were just as well done--dirty martini, espresso martini, and an Old Fashioned, all made with care and balance. What truly made the experience unforgettable was our server, David C. It was our first time in Nashville, and he made us feel genuinely welcomed. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, but he went above and beyond to share local recommendations for things to do around the city. The pasta was amazing, the special of the sheet of ravioli was one of my favorites, all the apps we got (broccoli, zucchini, burrata) were all nice. My only feedback is very niche. It's the chairs. We had four women at our table. The rounded chairs made it so you couldn't hang your purse on the chair. There were no hooks under the table. So your options were to put your purse on the floor, on your lap, or behind your back which isn't ideal. read more

This spot has been on my must try list for a while. It was packed. I'm happy to report that the food did not disappoint: -- To celebrate their one year anniversary they gave each table fresh mozzarella (gf) on the house. This was so good omg. Lol. -- Pelato Salad was excellent. It does have giant gigante beans in it though, so if you don't like beans, just a heads up. -- Gluten-Free Spicy Radiatori Vodka (gf) Pasta was really, really good. As someone who is gluten free, it is so hard to order pasta out and have an option other than gluten free penne. I was thrilled that this was not penne and the quality was incredible. Get it. -- For dessert we had the Peach Melba (gf), which was a nice light summery parfait. The cream was so good. The curd is a little tart but it balanced the cream out. The Cloud (gf) was a really good rice pudding. I liked this the best. My cousin had the torta all'ananas which I was caramelized upside down pineapple cake with vanilla gelato. She enjoyed it. The issue we had with our dinner was the service. Once our food came we were never checked on again. The waitress was paying a lot of attention to the table next to us, which is great, but not when you don't come back for our entire meal and only do because we have to flag you down to ask for the bill and some boxes. We never got to order additional drinks and had no clue there was a dessert menu until the manager that I asked for came to the table. He was incredibly apologetic & comped our desserts.
