3.5 Wanted to give Pelicana chicken another try. This location is in Food Gallery 32 on the 3rd fl (but signs say "2nd fl"). First tasted it here too, when it was new. Buzzer was given so was able to wait on the 2nd fl. I like wings but the option of a full whole chicken was good -12 pieces. Came with a small pickled radish. Can choose the batter so picked "crispy" =extra crispy. Extra cost for sauces. For a full chicken/1 sauce=$3. But for full chicken/2 sauces= $4. Gloves were provided. Not as messy to eat as the first time (too much sauce that time). Soy garlic was too sweet for me so ate only 1 pc. Sweet and spicy level 2 was described as sriracha level. Was good but not like the spicy soy garlic at other places which I prefer. Large rice only $3. Larger tables on the same floor. Water bottles $1.50 from vending machine; accepted bills, not coins. Restrooms there too- can be maintained better. read more

Still as delicious as I remember! So close to my daughter's apartment that it calls my name and this is the ONLY place that I eat fried chicken. Even with take out, it was screaming hot after walking home in frigid ( well to this Southern gal) temperatures. Can't get enough! read more

I had this back in 2018 and it was okay. This was my first time having Korean fried chicken and I was very much looking forward to trying it since many people rave about it. But when I tried it from this place, I just thought it tasted like regular fried chicken. Also, I remember this being pricey like around $20. read more

Went to Pelicana on Thanksgiving Eve. Ordered through GrubHub, which had a bit of a discount, and ordered the 'Peli Special' of Boneless Chicken, Fries, and a small Salad. The Chicken was battered well and well cooked, the Salad was good, as were the Fries (although I wish the portion of Fries were bigger). If in the neighborhood again, I would definitely return. The space is a three level building, pretty crowded and live, diverse. Do go for the eclectic, energetic, New York experience. read more

Pelicana has the juiciest and crispiest fried chicken. The staff member was helpful in answering my questions as I ordered. I was given a buzzer to alert me when my food was ready for pickup, the typical food court system. On a Monday night, the food court was still pretty busy, but there were plenty of seats available on the top floor. read more

This is a gem on the upper most floor of the Food Gallery 32. The chicken is hot and freshly fried on site. The half chicken is plenty for 4-6 people, you get approx 12 pieces in total. Same with the fries, they're fresh and crispy and lots in one order. If you're alone, definitely just order the combo for one. You can also order your flavor sauce on the side or mixed in with your chicken after frying. Happy Hour gets you $4.50 draft beer! They have lots of free table seating on the top floor also. Even if there's a lineup, they serve and cook quite fast. There's also k-pop playing and videos in the background. When you're done, an attendant will take your tray and clean the table. It's great to leave them a tip if you can. read more

I was surprised to see that this place is Halal certified in the Middle of Ktown, and honestly the food didn't miss. I got the spicy fried chicken sandwich and it was delicious and very fresh. The meat was juicy with a nice kick to it, and the serving size was pretty filling especially when combined with the Cajun fries. I would have loved if there were more fries tho and a drink included if I'm paying 17$ for the whole thing. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. We waited a long time because of other good reviews, and once we finally got to our meal, some așshole comes out with a massive tray of food, yelling, screaming, dancing all over and ruining everyone's good time. The restaurant didn't try to stop him and seemed to even encourage it. It absolutely ruined the entire night. You cannot eat in peace here. read more

I came here with the fam. Ordered the 10 piece wings and when I took a bite, the chicken was pink. I went back to let them know if I could get a refund or if they could cook it longer. They kept telling me that pink chicken is ok to eat as long it's at certain temperature. I didn't want to make a scene so I believe them. I didn't let my kids eat it being worry that they could get sick. The next day, I ended up with food poisoning. I usually don't write reviews but this was unacceptable. Do not eat here read more

Checked out the food court and Koreatown, and decided to get my food here. I ordered a Pelicana Chicken Sandwich with a side of onion rings. The Sandwich was crunchy and I loved the sauce and toppings, even if it was a bit messy. The onion rings were also delicious and crunchy. Overall, while it is a bit pricey for simple food in my opinion, the food itself was great, and I wouldn't mind coming back here again. read more

Got the original spicy boneless chicken, and it was juicy, tender dark meat with a crispy exterior. The breading wasn't too thick, which was great since it was mostly chicken rather than just coating. The spice level had a real kick, making each bite flavorful and satisfying. However, while it was great going down, it wasn't as pleasant on the way out--definitely something to keep in mind for those sensitive to heat! read more

I have gone to the food gallery market before but did not know about the upstairs. My sister was craving soy garlic chicken and took us here. This is my first time trying out korean fried chicken at this place but have had it before at different restaurants. We ordered the full drumsticks&wings combo of original soy garlic and it came with a radish. The portions were great. The side of radish could have been bigger though; it only covered for 2 pcs of chicken. This is by far the best korean fried chicken I have had. Its super crispy and well coated in sauce. We ordered for pick up later that day with same order but I had 1 box fully covered in sauce and the other with barely any sauce. It gets crowded at night; it wasnt busy when we went at around 2pm. read more

This place is on the second floor and it's always hoppin. Fried chicken and beer is soooo good, more of a cafeteria vibe but it's very modern chic. Chicken took a min but was really amazing and even though it's pricey in the city we got what we paid for, barely finished it with 3 people so it was the perfect lunch after the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. read more

I went here as a recommendation from a friend and it was the most disappointing experience as of late. The price point, for one, is terrible. I ordered spicy crispy wings and drums with the sweet and sour sauce and cheese balls on the side and that came out to be more than $30 for just 6 pieces of chicken and four basic balls. It took some time to get it which is fine - I appreciate made to fresh orders. When we received the order, we found that the usual piping hot state of a fresh batch of wings was not really the case here. It was lukewarm. I don't know if this is a big deal,, just an observation. Then I found instead of drums, they added full sized chicken legs which I guess is more meat but it's not as enjoyable to eat. Again, not terrible but an observation. The inside of the chicken was 'juicy' but I saw some pink parts and softer wet parts of the chicken making me think it needed just a minute or two more in the fryer. Flavor was just meh, I've had better. Heck even bb.q down the block does a better job with bigger portions, better ambience, and cheaper prices and a range of sides to pick from. As I go home, I instantly feel a rumble in my tummy and yeah... I think the chicken was undercooked or something was in it to upset my stomach. My partner felt the same way the next day. All in all, avoid this place. Not sure if it's just this branch of pelicana that is lacking but that's all I can speak for. Maybe other branches are better. read more

I order delivery from Pelicana maybe once every 2-3 months when I have a Korean fried chicken craving. The original (mild) and soy garlic are my go-to's, and this is my first time eating in person at the restaurant. I arrived around 9pm and ordered the half size drumsticks and wings combo $17.99 which comes with 3 drumsticks and 4 wings and a side of pickled radish. Being inside the Ktown food court, they give a buzzer that beeps when the food is ready, which took about 10 minutes. That evening's chicken had a deliciously crisp exterior and tender interior, though on the saltier side compared to previous orders I've had. Eating the chicken fresh out of the fryer makes a difference. The level of crispness is better than after it's been sitting in a box for 15-30 minutes. read more

Pelicana is pretty good for korean fried chicken. We definitely love the sauces (sweet and spicy lvl is not spicy), but not really the padak one (we like the scallion addition - it is not hăng at all, but the sauce has a strong mustard taste). The chicken has a bit too much flour but overall it's good. You get 5% off if you pay with cash. read more

Not sure what all the rating deflation is about. If you want the best example of Korean fried chicken with good, strong, flavor, Pelicana is what you want. IMO better than bbq chicken, better than Bonchon, etc. The location itself is pretty rundown, as there is graffiti everywhere, and most machines and places around are abandoned. But that's not to fault the chicken shop itself. Besides, if you're eating fried chicken, it shouldn't matter if you're eating it in an abandoned-mall type vibe place, on the street, at home, or on top of the Empire State building. Crispy, garlic, aromatic, hot, juicy. That's what Pelicana is all about. I personally think they do their soy garlic the best. The intense garlic flavor is unreal and I just haven't had it anywhere else. Their chicken _is_ crispy if you do wait ever so patiently (around 15 minutes), and isn't the fake bread crumb crispy that some fast food places do. Just a tip, if you get delivery you're never going to get the full texture crispy experience that you do at the shop, even if you do another air fry at home, although the flavor is just as good. Please go in person to experience Pelicana at its best. read more

We came across Pelicana Chicken by chance when we kept heading upstairs to find open seating. We had no clue there was three floors at this food court and thought the top floor was all seating. How wrong we were and we're so thankful for that! Their wings looked delicious so BF was excited to get a half order of their crispy wings ($16.99) with the soy garlic mix. Half order came with 10 wings and a side of pickled white radish. The breading on the chicken was just right and the meat was tender. Two of us shared the full wings/drumsticks combo with spicy crispy batter (+$1) and the spicy Pelicana sauce as well as soy garlic (+$4 I think). It took about 16 minutes - there's a chart at the counter that tells you how long it takes. The chicken was good, standard fare and I enjoyed both sauces. We had leftovers so they happily gave us boxes and a bag to take home. We also ordered the Yellow snowing cheese fries, which I had low expectations for. It was strangely tasty, and sort of addictive. The cheddar 'snow' is slightly sweet, and almost like a Korean snack cheese powder (definitely don't think of normal cheddar) that somehow works with the fries. After climbing 2 short flights of stairs to the top floor of this 32nd street food court, I was finally reunited with the chicken brand that made me fall in love with Korean fried chicken. There is a little wait after paying, because your meal is made after placing your order. Just grab a seat anywhere and relax until your buzzer goes off. The food is hot! I anxiously took a bite and had to quickly put it down until it was at a pleasant temp to eat. Fries crispy, chicken crispy, just as good as I remembered. I'll give this location a solid 3.5, I felt that the chicken could've used a wee bit more sauce to enhance the flavor. Besides that minor point, Pelicana is still a solid choice in the ever expanding KFC options in the city. read more

We placed a pick-up order via Uber Eats from Pelicana Chicken and the process was smooth with no issue. It was located inside Food Gallery 32 on 3rd floor. The dining environment wasn't good and it lacked maintenance, so we won't recommend to eat there. We had a set of Boneless Chicken, French Fries & Salad ($12.95). The food was overall delicious, especially the juicy & tender chicken with proper portion and reasonable price as a lunch quick fix. read more

Been meaning to check Pelicana out for a while since my friend told me it's better than BonChon. That being said, it's quite a bit more expensive than BonChon, which is only a block away, but my desire to try the "superior Korean fried chicken" forced my hand. I got the full size combo with 2 sauces (pelicana special in mild and honey garlic) on the side. Total came out to be ~$32 bc you pay an extra $2 per sauce (which doesn't make sense to me bc I was told by the cashier that I had to buy 2 sauces to cover a full order and have my chicken have flavor). I personally felt like 1 sauce on the side would have been more than enough! I felt really pressured into buying 2 sauces.. In terms of the chicken itself, it wasn't super crunchy by the time I got home (30min), which I guess is expected, though I wish the packaging insulated the chicken better. The chicken is pretty similar in size to BonChon, though their drumsticks are a bit larger. For those who haven't tried BonChon, the size of a drumstick is about the size of my hand when scrunched up-- they're much larger than pieces of chicken I'd get from Popeyes/ KFC! The sauces were very good and strong (though still far too expensive). The honey garlic is very sweet with a slight tang from the garlic (though the garlic flavor isn't too strong). The pelicana special sauce was nice with a strong flavor. I'm not too sure how I'd explain the sauce -- maybe a mix of bbq and ketchup and garlic? Trust me, it was good! If I had to choose 1 sauce, I'd choose the Pelicana sauce bc I feel like it fits the chicken flavor more than the sweetness of the honey garlic. read more

What an amazing place. Located at the top floor of Food Gallery 32 sits this fried chicken gem which seemed to have an entire floor of dining space dedicated to itself (from what I remember). Since there was plenty of space, it was easy to socially distance from other groups even on a Saturday afternoon. As others may have mentioned, this is not like a traditional restaurant, but more of a shared cafeteria. There is no waiting service/staff, or reserved seating, and you are allowed to sit anywhere with available tables/seating. You place your order to the cashier and they will give you a buzzer which notifies when your food is ready for pick up. Now the chicken... I was not used to being served such huge drumsticks/wings at a Korean fried chicken joint! Normally most Korean fried chicken joints serve much smaller drumsticks and wings, but the size was comparable to the ones served in Southern fried chicken restaurants. By the way, this is not a complaint. It was quite a pleasant surprise! The chicken ("Full Size (Drumstick 6pcs & Wing 8pcs) Combo") was extremely crispy, delicious, and could easily serve about 3 people (price was ~35 total with tax). One gripe I have is the restroom - just did not have towels or a hand dryer if I remember correctly. If you don't want to open the restroom door after washing your hands, then recommend grabbing some napkins from the cashier before you go. Overall, great place with extra crispy chicken served large. First of all! Who doesn't like fried chicken? I've been craving it for a long time, and finally went to try out Pelicana fried chicken inside the Food Gallery 32! I have to say it's the best Korean fried chicken I've tried so far. It was very crispy, juicy and tender. The wait was about 25 minutes long but it was so worth it!! I highly recommend it to people who love korean fried chicken to check out this place. I'm definitely coming back for more!! Check it out if you're near Koreatown :). read more

Little counter on the third floor of a Korean food court. I got the white meat boneless half order to go - extra crispy and spicy. The spice in the batter is quite spicy... personally would stick with regular crispy next time. The chicken was crispy but def not the crispiest I've ever had.. didn't feel double fried or anything. I got the level 2 sauce on the side. It has a kick but I wasn't really a fan of the flavor profile. I wanted soy garlic but unfortunately that one only comes mixed in not on the side. Id give them another shot and change up my order next time. The staff was friendly and there's a small counter reserved for pelicana customers if you don't want to sit in the tables. read more

I was in K-Town yesterday afternoon and husband told me to get something for dinner so my immediate thought was our usual spot. Then I saw the raving reviews for this place and thought why not. Entered the food court, temperature taken, and the 15 wait began. Ordered the soy garlic wings regular and was looking forward to how it would compare to others. It was still warm when I got home so that was really nice. Tried it and thought it was tasty but still lacked something to deliver that perfect soy garlic taste. Also not crispy and crunchy and to be fair, it was on me. There was an option to make it crispy so I thought it was the regular korean fried chicken crispness * 2 if I took that option. There was no crisp whatsoever so I'll probably try their crispy option again one day. read more

I have been meaning to try one of the pelicana chicken locations. This one is on the 3rd floor of the food court. Nice order at the counter and choose your own seat set up with a window seating area and larger tables. The chicken came out decently quickly and looked nice. The chicken was soft and moist on the inside. My gripe is that the crunchy batter on the outside was too thick. Flavor profile of the mixed in sauce ($2 extra) was decent. There are many korean fried chicken places in nyc--for me pelicana is decent but toward the lower end of that list. read more

Came here on a recommendation of a friend. I got a Full order of Drumstick & Wing Combo ($32) Crispy, with Mild Sauce (+$2). The wings itself were great and super filling. A lot better than KFC, although a lot more pricey. I had a huge argument with the sauce as they only sauced up half of my order. Apparently one sauce only covers half of the order and you had to pay essentially twice the sauce for a full order. This was not made clear on the menu at all and seems to be a huge pain point, making them sound like penny pinchers over sauce. I'm already paying $30 for wings and your pan handling a few more bucks over sauce. Come on man. This shop may end up like Spot Dessert across the floor if they keep up this business model: out of business. read more

I tried the chicken sandwich which was quite good. Great sauce and great chicken. It's located on the third floor of the food court. Plenty of area to sit upstairs. It can get quite crowded and loud especially on the weekends. I got the chicken soon after ordering. I can't wait to try other stuff on their menu! read more

Of the 6 slice spots I had, this was by far the best tasting dough/crust. I had an audible reaction when tasting the crust. Extremely good. Unfortunately, the pizza had too much sauce. It was overwhelming. Simply too much sauce. I could only have about half before giving up. Both sauces tasted good, but the vodka sauce was so loaded that it was hard to taste anything else. A shame because this had potential to be a great score.

Our wait was at least an hour and a half and were texted when our table was ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating with one bathroom for all to use. We got the viral pancakes and they were everything you'd dream they be and then some for sure very filling and buttery. I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. Weather you come for the viral moment this feels like a solid staple in the community with bright music playing everyone kind of everywhere and just a relaxed feel that you can't wait to enjoy after you get seated. Bathroom rating 5/5 very clean for how busy the place is :)

After running a couple of errands while waiting for the table to be ready, we were seated outside at the patio after an hour and 45 minutes. We ordered the famous honey butter pancakes, the korean wings, and the breakfast sandwich with hash brown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

Smaller than I thought. Now I know why there is always such a long wait.

It's one of the larger stalls in the market and has some seating, but not enough, and the market seating is very limited as well. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and the very spicy Dan Dan Mian. I loved watching the staff prepare the noodles while waiting. My bowl was huge and absolutely delicious. It was very spicy as promised, but not too spicy that it was rendered not enjoyable. I looked at other orders and everything looked delicious, leading to only semi-regret of my choice. My lemonade was very good. I'm very much looking forward to returning.

The broth was too salty for me but I just didn't drink it and it made all the other ingredients taste good. Pretty good portion for the price too.
