I did not ask for a FREE dress or free shipping, I was happy to pay the extra $55 to have it over nighted to me. But it was after recieving such poor customer service from them I expected it to be shipped to me for free. A whole month went by until a manager decided to contact me. After going back and forth I was fed up becuase she insisted she provided me with the best customer service. I would not have been so upset if that were the case After posting my original review, Penelope and Parker RETURNED my dress without my authorization. Without communicating with me first. But as all of you already know. That is something they clearly don't do. It is now 2 weeks before the wedding and I have no dress. I ordered a bridesmaid dress from this retailer (Penelope Bridal / DressDirect.net) on 1/4/16 for a wedding that took place the first week of May, I selected the standard production time of 12 to 14 weeks, thinking I had plenty of time. After no update and no change in status for months, I grew concerned. I contacted the retailer in March and was told on 3/28/16 that my order was "on time" for shipment on 4/11/16. I received no further update until today 6/2/16 -- notifying that my dress shipped TODAY. This review won't add anything new to whatever every other bad review but just confirming the fact that they are completely horribly and do not care about customer service. I have two bridesmaids and flower girls who have ordered their dresses from here. The few times we were able to get anyone on the phone they claim the dresses will be here on time. During one phone call they even changed the arrival date. One bridesmaid FINALLY got to talk to someone about canceling her dress since the website states you can cancel before the dress ships but that was a round and round conversation and then the woman hung up on her. What in the ??? How do you even DO that?! I mean I know HOW but really?! Who does that? These people that's who. When the dresses were ordered the prices were cheaper but they have since gone up. I have never received such worse customer service in my entire life. ZERO STARS!!! I ordered a bridesmaid dress on 04/23 and paid an extra $40 for the priority shipping option (8-9 weeks). Every week or so, I'd check the status, but when it got to week 8 I started to grow concerned. That week I started an online chat and a lady said I would get it on time. Week 9, nothing, despite my calls, emails, and voicemails. 10 weeks later and after talking to 3 people at the store (one who refused to give me her name), and nobody could help me. No tracking number was given to me when it was finally shipped around 06/25, well after the priority shipping promise. I waited and waited patiently at first, skipped work, meeting, etc., but after all bridesmaids received their dressed within 2 weeks from Dessy I became very worried. I called Penelope Bridal everyday for the first 2 weeks of July, asking for an overnight, but nothing. No apology, just a young woman who always sounded annoyed saying, "You're not the only one who is getting it late." That did not make me feel better in the slightest bit. The only person who tried to help was Nadine (I believe that is her name), but even she could not do anything. I was promised a dress 2x, even after the 06/25 shipment, I received nothing, no dress, no tracking. I called Dessy themselves (contacted Cindy Dessy) and tried to check the status, which I finally got an answer to, "Penelope Bridal setup a shipment but via ground shipping on 06/25"-- even though I asked for overnight/expedited shipping." I was furious! I went to the bachelorette party and nobody could believe that I didn't have the dress, considering that I had ordered over 2 1/2 months before that. The wedding rehearsal was on 07/16 and I got nothing and the wedding date was on 07/17. I unfortunately had to tell the bride that I didn't have the dress which stressed her out. Not ok. I finally drove 30 minutes away to pick up the dress myself on 07/16 from the post office--mind you this is on the day of the rehearsal in LA and the rehearsal was in San Diego. Did i have time to taylor it? No. Did the dress drag on the wedding day? Yes. Did I miss the rehearsal dinner 3 hours away? Yes. Was I completely stressed out for weeks over a dress I ordered on 04/23? Absolutely. I originally did a Google search on the twist wrap Dessy and found it cheaper on dressdirect.com I thought I was a smart cookie by saving at least $40. Never again will I go that route. I really don't like writing 1 star reviews, but I do this to warn you all for what you may experience in the future if you order online. I had terrible luck. At the end, they decided to only reimburse me $40 for the shipping I paid for. No extra charges considering all of the above. Zero stars. Myself and 5 other bridesmaids ordered our bridesmaid dresses in January and early February for a July wedding. We have yet to receive any of the dresses more than 16 weeks later, but we're all charged in full. However, for us that ordered at Dress Direct, we had to contact them (many gals were told they would get a call back and had to call more than once to get that call back) to follow up on the dresses since it had been so long and dresses had not yet arrived. They're the worst. It's been 2 weeks and I still haven't received my refund after having to cancel my order. I placed my order in February for an August 4th wear date. I had to contact them because after 14 weeks (they said it would take UP TO 14 weeks) I had not received the dress or even a shipping confirmation. I had to contact them multiple times before I heard a response to which they told me it was going to take another month before the dress was even shipped. After reading everyone's reviews, I decided to cancel my order before it was shipped (which according to their return policy is acceptable). On Thursday (last week), I called and sent an email. On Friday, I called and was told was told the person in charge of shipping would call me back in 5 mins, 10 at the most. No phone call back. On Monday, I called 2 times, posted to their FB page and sent a PM. On Tuesday I called another 2 times. On Wednesday I called 5 times. Today, I've called 8 times, the police, town hall and asked someone who works at the CVS in the same plaza to walk over and make sure everyone was alive. She was so perceptive to what I described my style and taste to be and picked out dresses for me that suited me very well. I tried on one she picked out that I ordered that day during my appointment! She helped me envision how my dress would look when it's made for my size, she was knowledgeable about material, talkative, friendly and so incredibly sweet. I say work with Trinidad because I just didn't feel the owner was receptive to what kind of ideal dress I was describing and I really don't like saying "no, sequins are not my style" over and over and over again. I just feel bad doing that and I'm uncomfortable when I have to keep apologizing for my tastes. I wish that I read the reviews for this business before I spent my money here. The initial experience was great- a bunch of us went in to try on dresses and received great customer service. I picked the bridesmaid dress out that I liked, and I was given the information to order. I was told by the sales representative that I should wait until about April (this was in December, the wedding is August 21st) to order the dress in case I were to lose/gain weight. I waited until April and when I went in to get measured, I was greeted by a very cold and unfriendly sales representative. She did my measurements (which she did incorrectly) and stated multiple times that I shouldn't have waited until the last minute for the dress. I told her that I was informed that the dress would take 8 weeks to arrive and that would leave 2 months for alterations. I asked if there would be an issue with getting the dress on time, because if so, I would look elsewhere. She confirmed that it would be ready in the 8 weeks and that she personally thought it was better to order earlier. I ordered the dress and paid in cash due to a cash discount that they offered. 8 weeks go by, and I have not heard anything about the status of my order. I send them an email just asking for an update because I was getting antsy knowing that I needed to get the dress hemmed still. When I did not receive a response to my email, I called them, was asked for my information, and was told that I would receive a call back shortly. Two days go by and I still do not hear anything. At this point, I stumble upon all of these terrible yelp reviews and really start to panic. I call them again and am told that because I do not have an order number, there is nothing they can do for me. I explain that I paid in person and have the receipt (just no order number), and I just want to know the status of the order. The man I spoke with said, "Yeah, I'm really sorry about that, but I can't help you," and he hung up on me. About 20 minutes go by, and I receive a phone call from a 518 area code from someone asking me about my dress. They again ask for the order number, and I again informed them that there was no order number on my receipt. She said hold on let me talk to Nicole (which is also a name the man mentioned when I spoke with him). This women then proceeded to hang up on me as well. After this experience and reading all of these reviews of similar experiences, I decided to order a different dress online. I spent $50 for express shipping and I received the dress with great customer service and at a decent price (azazie.com- I highly recommend them). Of course 13 days before the wedding I get a phone call from Penelope's saying that my dress is ready to be picked up. They no longer have a store front (shocking) and they would meet me at a tailor shop to give me the dress. I was so frustrated and knew that based on all of the other reviews that I read, that there was no way I would get my money back, especially when this exchange was essentially taking place in a parking lot. I picked the dress up from them and returned the back-up dress that I ordered from azazie.com with no issues whatsoever. I'm obviously out the shipping that I paid for the dress, but I am just so happy to have a dress in hand for this wedding. Now I have 13 days to find someone to do last minute alterations. The amount of stress that this has caused has been absolutely ridiculous. I was nothing but polite and understanding each time I spoke with someone from this company, and the fact that I was hung up on more than once is absurd. Hopefully they are out of business for good, and it definitely seems like I am one of the more lucky customers because I actually received the dress before the big day. Thank you for the response, I would like to also note that as I said earlier this dress was for a wedding. Therefore, a different style of dress was not an option which I told them. Reason for the decline. I cancelled the order at the beginning of November and received a voicemail on November 9th from Belissa or Melissa stating that my refund was being processed and will take 7-14 business days. Minus weekends, it's been 12 days since that voicemail. Then I received an email this weekend, while at the wedding, that I would need to dispute the charges with my bank. I did not start yelling until I was told again yesterday that I would need to talk to my bank. In fact, I even mentioned on the phone that I was understanding up until this point! My point being, nothing was done to make any of this easier for the customer. So please do not turn this around on me as if I was a bad customer. I was repeatedly told that there was nothing further they could do to expedite the order, they never knew the status of the order when I called and had no information from the manufacturer. When I asked for the manufacturer information I was told that would not help. I felt as though nothing was being done to assure me my order would ever arrive. I did go to another dress shop who was able to get the dress to me and alter it before the wedding within one week. Then over the next couple weeks of mostly getting ignored, they said they would call me on the Thursday before my Saturday wedding to let me know if they would arrive in time or not and they of course did not call. The dresses didn't show up in time for the wedding and we only knew they wouldn't come basically the day before the wedding and Penelope Bridal/Dress Direct didn't seem to care at all or think there was a problem. Here is where the scam part starts - they told me I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company to get my money back since they failed the order. As I now know these disputes take months to finalize. They sent the dresses anyways after the wear date and since they sent the dresses they were able to close the dispute and steal my money. I've tried to call multiple times, the only two times I got through I got hung up on immediately and they don't acknowledge emails. It sucks the dresses didn't show up but what makes me hate this company and hope these crooks out of business, so that no one else has to go through this, is the horrible customer service. I've never been treated so horribly by a company before and the last thing I wanted to be stressed about the days before my wedding was the bridesmaid dresses.
