Going in, we were very wary, despite the great reviews and referrals from pediatric dentist and ortho. What resulted was a pain free, near perfect experience. My 14-year old fell asleep within 2 minutes and woke up an hour later with everything done. Numbness which is normal, but shockingly that evening and Day 1 after was the worst that it got: light soreness. Barely even needed ibuprofen. The kid never complained once of pain and looked at me like I was nuts that wisdom teeth extraction was a big deal. Zero trauma, zero pain, post-op appt showed mostly healed and no infections or anything. My only regret was why wasn't Dr Chalak around to do my wisdom teeth extractions 30 years ago? I did not receive the refund, so I called the office. The office told me that they had sent the refund to me by check. Since I did not receive the check, I asked that the check be reissued. They refused, saying that in order to do so, they would need to cancel the existing check, which would incur a $30 fee from the bank, so I would end up owing them money. I pointed out if no action is taken, then my refund stays in their checking account, which does not seem like the correct outcome. They indicated that they might refund the money when the existing check expires (when the bank will no longer honor the existing check). I called their bank, who told me that after 180 days, it would no longer honor the check. I sent an email to the office, ask them to confirm that I will receive my refund after 180 days. After a week, there was still no response... I asked Cigna, my insurer for help. The Cigna representative called the office with me on a 3-way call. The office reiterated their position as described above. However, after several days, I received a call in which they told me they would re-issue the check without waiting for 180 days.

The receptionist had no clue what I was talking about and I had to tell her what to do - essentially project manage my own care. She called the dentist who saw me, but she could not provide any info. Meanwhile, I am in the middle of treatment and don't have next steps. I called back on Monday, and still no update.
