Tim came out to replace my 50 Gallon Gas Water Heater on March 1, 2026. To start, Tim was extremely responsive, proactive, and transparent when conversing over text message. He was flexible on time, and showed up in a very timely manner once we were ready to go. When Tim arrived, he immediately inspected our current setup, explained some changes he'd have to make to accommodate our new heater, and promptly got to work. He was finished in about 1:45h, including some soldering work. He left behind a clean work station and took care of everything on his own. His pricing was similar to multiple other quotes we had gotten in the area, but I don't believe you can top his level of workmanship, professionalism, or efficiency. However, he advised not to waste my money. He said my heater is only 5 years old and I live in SF which has good water so there was no need to perform a draining and flushing of the tank. Peninsula was the 3rd quote and had the best price, longest warranty on parts and labor, and could be there within an hour. Tim showed up as promised with a professional-grade American Standard and got to work. As he was removing the old unit, he noticed a pressure reducing valve on the main line and suggested adding an expansion tank to the cold water inlet. He explained that the PRV created a closed system in the house, which was a safety risk, code violation, and invalidated the parts warranty. We agreed and he installed the new heater and expansion tank within 2 hours, and it cost less than just the heater alone from the other 2 quotes.
