I went in to use a coupon for free fries that I got in the mail. When I arrived, it was empty. I was on a call and they have a policy about not placing orders while on the phone. As I finished several people came in. I eventually placed my order. I asked that the grill would be cleaned so that the chicken isn't mixed with beef. The young man taking the order assured me that it won't touch. I ordered teriyaki chicken and used my coupon for my free fries. It didn't take long to prepare because there were getting people in and out. The sandwich was good. Lots of onions however so had to pull some out. The fries are really good. Hate that they use peanut oil because my household can't eat them so I have to eat long before going home. It was good and loved the free fries. I will be back to this location when in the area. So i got confused. Handed the cup back, got laughed at. They only called me little girl. Extremely demeaning. Also, they put down my name wrong, so when called I did not get up right away. This penn station has been clutch since I was a freshman in 2005! My most recent experience just makes me appreciate the crew even more. I came in on a Friday night, it was hella crowded, the line is moving, and I wait about 10 mins for my small cheesesteak. One cashier comes up asks what I ordered, I explain, then another asks what I ordered, I explain and the cashier goes "She been here for a minute waiting patiently, where's her order?" The line is unclear, maybe someone else grabbed It? I just say its fine, I know it's crowded so I was waiting a little while longer to see if my name was called. The staff proceeds to remake my order, gives me complimentary drink and fries for my patience unsolicited and got me out within the minute. It was a thoughtful gesture, I don't want those things being overlooked and this location is always absurdly busy but the team is dope. Sometimes you just need a cheesesteak in Penn station is the best in the business. I came in here in the middle of the afternoon and no one was around so service is great, fries were hot, the sandwich was incredible. They do the classic cheesesteak better than anyone I've ever encountered. Not only that, but as I was digging into my fries, sandwich, and fresh squeezed lemonade, one of the guys working there brought me out of fresh baked chocolate chip cookie on the house. This food is fine. A bit greasy. Workers can be mean at times. The owner is even worse. I expressed some concerns to him via email and he basically called me a liar and went on some rant on how one of his employees have been working there for 19 years and he's been there 41 years. No amount of years should allow for someone to be rude and disrespectful to people that pay money to eat their food. I'd recommend eating at another location. Chicken Parmesan Review: I love their cheesesteaks & fries & lemonade. Hot, fresh, messy enough; delicious. Way to go! Chicken Parmesan was too salty. The Parmesan is nice, but the marinara is too salty; too heavy. I want food I want more of. Lighten up the salt. Add a little sweetness; freshness. I lived in Philadelphia for a couple years and was a regular patron of places like Jim's Steaks, so I'm always on the lookout for a great cheesteak. It's not a hard recipe, but it's almost impossible to find a place outside of Philly that really gets it. Unfortunately, I never got as far as actually eating here, so I can't comment about the food. They could serve the best cheesteak in the universe for all I know, but it doesn't matter because I'll never darken their doors again. I went in with a pretty specific idea of what I wanted: An 8" Philly cheesteak with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, with a side order of chips and a regular soda. A pretty simple order, right? Any fast food worker with more than two functioning brain cells should be able to comprehend it enough to charge me the correct amount and pass it on to the person making the sandwiches. I stepped up to the cashier and began to place my order, but before I could even get two words out, he cut me off in mid-sentance to bluntly ask, "for here or to go?" Umm, that's for here. Now can I finish? When I tried to continue with my order, he once again interrupted me in mid-sentance to ask if I wanted white or wheat bread. Getting frustrated, I answered him, and then tried to continue. And then he cut me off in mid-sentance again to ask me something else. Now I'm pissed. When I took a deep breath and informed him that I didn't appreciate being constantly interrupted while trying to place my order, he abruptly turned around and went to the back of the restaurant, and while still in full view of the dining room, exclaimed "I'm not dealing with this asshole." Another employee came up to take my order, and once again, wouldn't even let me get two words out before interrupting me in mid-sentance to ask if I wanted my meal for here or to go, what type of bread, etc. At this point I said "fuck it", walked out, and had a nice meal at the Chipotle location around the corner. Late that night I sent an email to Penn Station's main customer service address recounting my experience, which was promptly forwarded to that location's franchise owner, who contacted me via email. He explained that their computerized cash register system requires that employees input the information in a certain sequence, which means the employee may sometimes have to interrupt a customer in order to input the order in a way that's satisfactory to the computer. Apparently their employees aren't real humans capable of storing information for more than ten seconds at a time, but are merely automatons who exist simply to input sandwich orders to a computer and collect money. (The manager also informed me that because of my sin of dropping the f-bomb in front of one of his employees, I'm also permanently banned from his location. I guess the cashier, who sported gang tattoos and called me an asshole, was deeply offended by my use of the f-word in public.) To me, the whole computer excuse is a complete cop-out. If your computer system requires your employees to treat customers with such rudeness, then you need a different computer system. There's no reason the cashier couldn't have let me finish my order, input whatever information is required, and then politely ask me any follow-up questions. And no computer program made this cashier storm to the back of the restaurant and begin cursing about a customer in full view of the dining room. I've worked in the food/retail/ bar business long enough to know that some customers will go in specifically looking for trouble in the hopes of getting comped a free meal or drink, and I know that some customers will never be completely satisfied no matter how hard you try. But the service I received here, and the response I got from the franchise owner when I complained about it, was completely beyond the pale. I can understand if an employee is having a bad day, but for the franchise owner to blame the customer or his computer system for the employee's rudeness is totally unacceptable, and belies a seriously dysfunctional corporate culture. There are several chain sandwich shops within spitting distance of this Penn Station location, including Quizno's, Jimmy John's, and Subway. They can't afford to be alienating their potential customers. I eagerly await the day this Penn Station location inevitably goes out of business and makes room for something better, perhaps as a far-flung Jim's Steaks. read more

This is a great location, across the street from Macs Pizza Pub and a hot spot Friday and Saturday nights. They are usually packed, so be prepared to wait 20 minutes or so but they are always clean, friendly and when you get your food all is good in the world. Check out their monthly specials for a great day and if you are getting take out, be sure to ask for vinegar and ketchup before heading home! Personally I love the classic cheese steak sandwich and know that any fry bigger than a small is a hefty personal commitment, or something that will be needed to share. read more

I have never been to Philly, but I hope that when I do, the Philly Cheesesteak will be just a good as the ones at Penn Station. They are greasy and unhealthy, but they are delicious! This Penn Station exceeds the reputation of most others because of its uniqueness. There are constant specials for cheap subs. Also, this location is open very late on weekend (2 or 3am). Give it a shot, and don't judge the employees by their looks: they are very nice and always helpful! Best Penn Station around! read more

It should be common knowledge by now, but the place is open late on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday so be sure to stop in and grab a sub after hitting the bars.
