Sharing my recent lunch experience at Penn Station subs. I used to come for their Monday discounted small sub specials, but it had been so long and I wasn't sure if this was still offered. I couldn't find anything online either so I decided to just give the Penn Station location on wendover ave a call before I headed out. The gentleman that answered the phone was very nice and helpful. He confirmed the Monday sub special is still available although it had gone up to $5.99..still not a bad deal. I went in for a pick up order and decided on the Philly cheesesteak sub with all the toppings available, including banana peppers, pizza sauce, and a little bit of mustard. I sat in the dining area until order was ready, everything was nice and clean. I waited about 7 to 8 minutes for my food. I ate my sub at home and when I unwrapped my sandwich, it was still nice and warm. The steak was seasoned really well and is pretty tender. The provolone cheese is basically melted over the steak and other toppings so it's contained nicely on top of a toasted hoagie roll that is also freshed baked. The small portion is also pretty filling for me. Thiis just a great lunch deal and one of my favorites. read more

Stopped into this Penn Station location with a friend recently to grab lunch. We were quickly greeted by the staff as we placed our orders, and they were happy to answer our questions and make the sandwiches exactly how we wanted them. I got the cheesesteak with fresh cut fries, and after only a short wait it came out. The sandwich was absolutely delicious, and filled my craving. The fries were ok, not breaded like other places offer, probably a healthier fry (if there is such a thi The interior isn't huge, but offered a bit of indoor seating. I do not think they have any outdoor seating at this location. I've been to another local PS, and wasn't as impressed. This one had better service and my overall experience was better. Penn Station makes a couple of very nice subs - the Italian and the Build Your Own Dagwood! The fries are pretty good as well, though the portions have definitely shrunk. I ordered the BYO Dagwood - with smoked ham, salami, pepperoni, turkey, and corned beef. Topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers and pickles. Then added mayo, oil and vinegar, salt, pepper, and oregano! This is quite the sandwich, 2 full meals for me. I cut it in half, and chowed down. This is a very good sub, and I added fries and their fresh made lemonade as well. read more

When I want a hot sub I always go to the Penn Station. One of my favorite subs I get there is the chicken teriyaki: chicken breast with teriyaki sauce,swiss cheese,onions and mushrooms. The teriyaki sauce is not too salty or sweet. I like my bread toasted. Everytime I order for my bread to be toasted I get it crisp without it being overly toasted like other sub shops. They make the best handcut in house fries. There fries are made fresh from Idaho potatoes and fried in peanut oil. Subs are delicious and food comes out fast. Should definitely try them out. read more

First time trying pen station and was very impressed with what they had to offer. My dining partner and split an Italian and a Philly cheese steak. Both were awesome, I recommend the served Italian cold. Portions are nice and everything tastes fresh and flavorful! read more

Not sure why I haven't gotten subs/sandwiches from them before. I'll start off by saying they were fairly quick. The bread is highly underrated (way better than Jimmy Johns/Jersey Mikes). It has a good crust and crunch to it, but the inside still soft. Very good flavor in itself as well. The meat and veggie selection is great and you can get both cold or grilled. I've been getting the Dagwood where you can create your own sandwich and toppings. The fries were still very crisp and not soggy at all....lasted through the car ride. read more

Chicken Parmesan sandwich was terrible. The chicken was chewy and tasted as if it was boiled and thrown in there with jarred marinera sauce. My boyfriend's sandwich was delicious. Disappointed I wasted $13 on a sandwich with no flavor. The fries had literally no salt. I have seasoning at home and used that. Probably wouldn't give this place another chance. read more

I used to love this place. But today I paid $10 for a mayo sandwich and grease sticks. I ordered a chicken teriyaki, my usual here. There was so much mayo on the sandwich I couldn't taste any teriyaki sauce. But I supposed the amount of mayo was to camouflage the fact there was very little chicken or onions on the sandwich. They also double fried the French fires for so long they tasted more like grease than potato. I threw them away thinking my sandwich would be of normal quality and I'd have a decent meal. Surprised by the low rating for Penn Station Subs! Certainly a notch or two above Subway, but not as good as a true deli. You can order your subs in 6", 8", 10", or a foot! I went with the 8" Reuben with the sauerkraut and cheese toppings! The sandwich was really good, a decent amount of meat, but possibly too much cheese! It was flavorful, but thankfully I went light on the sauerkraut as it's a bit overpowering! The hand cut fries are fantastic and perhaps some of the best I've ever had! From the previous sampled Philly Cheesesteak, to the recent Reuben, there are certainly worse options than Penn Station Subs! read more

This place has improved over the years. I got a cold Italian sub with no tomatoes, no banana peppers and extra mayo and extra oregano, jalapeño chips and drink which all came up to $9.58. The only issue with this is that I got a small 6 inch sub. There are several other sub places that have a better size sub for much less. Overall not a bad choice but they could improve their pricing, at least offer a combo deal. Everything is al a carte here. read more

Nothing special but quick and reasonably priced. The steak cheese sandwich was more cheese than meat, and the sauce, a mixed of mayonnaise and ketchup was a not-so-nice surprise (aka disgusting). But it was probably me just not paying attention when the cashier asked me if I wanted everything on the cheese steak... never had that mix before... salad was "plasticly" and I did not get any silverware or was instructed to pick it from some other place... I assume they would add silverware to a takeout order but we all know what they say about assuming. read more

New in town and looking for a decent sandwich I was very excited to try one of the subs on this menu. Only problem is that I stood at the register waiting to order for 10 minutes and then walked out. This place is severely understaffed and I won't be going back. read more

The only reason for the 2 stars is the food The service and cleanliness are pathetic at this location. I had never been to this one and I would not go back. There were only two girls working on a busy Friday lunch hour. It took over twenty minutes to get our food. The girl making the subs was moving so slowly. I felt like going behind the counter to help her. She had a mask on that was not covering her nose, only mouth and NO GLOVES. Making cold food in a restaurant without gloves is a health code violation I believe. The tables were dirty to boot. When we finally got our subs and fries, they were good but I can't patronize an establishment with so little regard for their customers health and safety. read more

Extremely horrible customer service . Nobody washed their hands. Desirae and the manager Eric Landreth. I Ordered a chicken cheese steak. I received a regular cheese steak. I took it back to have the correct order made. The manger claimed I ordered steak . I've been allergic to beef for over 8 years . I know I didn't order steak. He was extremely rude and unprofessional.I asked his name he wouldn't provide his last name told me to look on the door. I received a refund I will be filing a customer complaint with the independent owner or corporate office. read more

I haven't eaten at a Penn Station in a good number of years. I remember when they first opened in the area some 13 years ago. They were really good back then and there was always a line out the door. Based on those memories, I decided to eat at a newer location. In hindsight, the meal was not fantastic and I wonder if my memory had been off about this place. I have to wonder about a place that is empty at 12 noon in a busy shopping center. I bet I could walk into the Moe's next door and see people eating there. Heck, even the BK is slinging burgers through the drive-thru. Aside from myself, there is one other patron in the joint. Hard to believe when there is a Cold Stone, a Panera and few others next door. The staff was courteous and polite. They even questioned my dubious choice in monikers in a joking way when asked: Heisenberg. Let's be clear, I always give a colorful name when ordering food. Pepsi is the anchor beverage served here. Let me just say, the food won't win any awards. I had the chicken parm sub and while It was edible it was on the bland side. It was made from fresh chicken though and I can appreciate that. The best part of the meal was the malt vinegar to splash in the fries which reminded me of the fries at Wendy's of all places. My other concern is that the meal was expensive. Thirteen dollars. That is a lot for a chain sub sandwich in my mind. Here's where they make the money - the fries are not served in a cup as displayed on the menu. They throw them in the basket with the sandwich. How do you really know you are getting a small or medium fry? If you do try this place, save some bread and get the small fry. Overall, my experience was satisfactory. Nothing more and nothing less. Kind of like getting a 'C' in school. Do just the minimum to pass. In conclusion, Penn Station will stay what it was before I walked in the door - a memory. read more

Stopped in for a quick sub. Second time there. First time was only so so. Waited 10 minutes to order today. They were not that busy but no one wanted to take my order. I left and went next door to Capra's. Much Better sab and they were very friendly. No more East Coast Subs!! read more

Penn station was a place that I thought I would not come back to. A coworker recently decided to go to Penn so I joined the group. My last visit was a bad experience because the sandwich was the 6" version by 1.5" wide. Basically the size of a pickle for a sandwich. They should not have served that to me. This time I ordered the 8" version Parmesan chicken and it was a normal 3"wide sandwich . It was served hot and so were the fries. It looked delicious and tasted delicious. Today one of the workers came around and delivered some small cookie samples. As someone else commented, the workers do not seem happy and do not seem to want to give that extra experience. Could they be worked too hard? Is this their second job? Well a smile goes a long way. Parking lot is always packed. Also be careful with Eye Masters as blind people open doors erratically. This lady almost hit one of my coworkers in the head as we were walking. I mean who can't see out of a glass door? Apparently people needing glasses! Overall I'm glad I had a better experience this time. But it's the repeat visits that matter. read more

Then took another 10 mins to pay for my sub ,and then mistook my order for a steak sandwich when i clearly mentioned to the guy who took my order that i wanted a Chicken teriyaki. He clearly didnt want to do the job he was doing. Now the worst part is it took another 20 mins to get the Sandwich to go. This place is a joke. I am not wasting any time coming to this place again. Very disappointed. I just got a 6in cheesesteak from there. There was barely any meat, the sandwich was smashed down....it was like I was only eating bread. I cant believe I paid almost 8 dollars for that and some chips. Never going back extremely disappointed. read more

By far my favorite location. The customer service here is incredible. I have had the opportunity to meet most of the employees and the manager corie. Wow! We stopped here for dinnertime sandwich/fries/fresh lemonade, and it was GREAT! There are 3 sizes of sandwiches. On the chicken teriyaki sandwich, in addition to the obvious chicken and teriyaki sauce, there were mushrooms, grilled onions, and mozarella cheese. Recommended was to add green peppers. DH ordered the Italian sandwich grilled, which was also fantastic. There is a bin of potatoes beside the fryer, where the fresh-cut french fries are cooked. Reasonably priced food. Like others have stated before me the service here is really slow. This is a fast food establishment, right? That and a couple other things annoy me about this place. First, the guy taking your order is always bothered by the fact that he has to wait on you. Then, the meat is weighed out in a bowl on a food scale. Really? How stingy are you guys? Probably a corporate thing but it's just weird. Know your portions and get em on the flat top. This alone would save time in the lunch rush. The prices are high for what you get. Yes, the quality is there but topping out over $13.00 for a large cheesesteak combo is painful. Add a cookie and its north of $15. Besides all that the food is quite acceptable. The fries are cooked to order and are the skin on variety. Ketchup and malt vinegar are available if you wish to cover up the great potato flavor. The cheesesteaks are good, bread crisp and fillings cooked properly. Nothing really over the top about it. The lemonade is excellent but again, costs extra. The chocolate chunk cookies are deadly...maybe worth the $2.00. Honestly if you want a cheesesteak combo walk across the parking lot to Mario's Pizza. For $6.99 it's just a better deal. read more

Don't get me wrong, I like Penn Station. This location always has friendly people and good subs. I always get the chicken teriyaki with mushrooms and onions and it's really good and packed with flavor. But I'll never get their French fries again. I ordered them to go this time. I had a 5 minute drive back to work. The bag was soaked in grease by the time I got back. It was almost embarrassing to carry it in with me. I pulled a French fry out to eat on the way and it was so greased laden, I spit it out. When I pulled out my sub from the bag, several of the fries were so greasy, they had stuck to the inside of the bag. I ate three fries total and threw the rest out. Don't stop here for lunch if you don't have a lot of time. We came about five minutes after they opened and only had one other person in line in front of us. They didn't have any lemonade made yet and told me it would be 30 minutes. I ended up getting a tea that I really didn't want but I needed a drink. Our food took about 20 minutes. I checked to see if they had lemonade before we left and they didn't do anything yet. I just don't understand why that wasn't made before they opened and why our food took so long. Ordered an 8" "Dagwood" with turkey and corned beef. I could not believe how small the sandwich was. The width of the bread appeared to be about 3 inches. I thought it was a joke at first. After taxes I paid $6.61 for the sandwich alone. I will never go back. read more
