    Cheesesteak

Just fine. Extremely quick so good for a road trip. Think we were in and out in 35 min? Waiter was friendly. Got the jalepeno poppers, cheesesteak sandwich and the Reuben. Poppers were small - only 6 but were pretty good. Came with a large horseradish dip that almost tasted like a tzatziki. Cheesesteak was okay but bready and dry. probably would go with something else next time. Reuben was good, on par with diner Reuben's elsewhere. Honey mustard for the fries was excellent! Overall nothing to write home about but a pretty good lunch.

As others have said, Penny's is a bit of a Norwalk staple, been around forever. I remember coming on and off in the 90's and early 2000's. Recently started coming back, a few times in the past couple of months. Today was the first time for breakfast and have to say I was really let down. Food was below average, service was fair, although found it very strange coffee and water wasn't refilled at the table. Lox looked horrible, and after waiter confirmed multiple times they were good. Potatoes or well done as asked for. Pound cake and corn muffin were toasted for some odd reason. Bagels were limited to plain only.

    Good food presentation.

I'm honestly surprised how many people have a negative opinion on this place. I went here for Sunday brunch today and it was amazing! I had the Irish Benedict and my girlfriend had the Blackstone Benedict. Both were a perfect blend of savory and spicy. Only comment I might add is that the amount of hollandaise make the dish a bit too heavy. I had coffee and my girlfriend had a mimosas; both made well. My waitress was cool, she was funny while also staying professional. I love the old diner atmosphere, if you wanted to eat in a place that has that old timey classic diner vibe. I would rate this place an 7.5/ 10, would recommend!

Penny's Diner has been around for many many years and the service and food have always been top-notch! I highly recommend coming here especially if you're going out to a club afterwards!

Great service. Coffee was good. Had the western omelette and it was excellent plus the potatoes are cooked on the grill and not in a deep fryer

A true classic. Fresh and tasty. Carefully prepared soup, gravies, sides. Veggies were fresh as could be. Fairly priced, too!

We started with the hamachi crudo - yellowtail dressed in ponzu with blood orange segments and crispy shallots. Absolutely delicious. The roasted oysters, rich with garlic herb butter, parmesan, and panko breadcrumbs, were another standout (and this is coming from someone who usually doesn't care for oysters!). For my main dish, I had the classic lobster roll, served warm with butter, just the way I like it. It was accompanied by a massive amount of fries. You can choose your side (fries, chips or salad), and you can also order it Maine-style (as a cold lobster salad). My dad thoroughly enjoyed the miso-marinated cod, which came with white rice, mushroom broth, edamame, and pickled carrots. As always, the seafood was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. Dessert was just as impressive: a rich lemon blueberry mascarpone cake, and my favorite - a bright, zesty key lime pie. The service was top-notch - friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The owner even stopped by our table to check in, which made the evening feel even more special. If you're looking for a memorable experience with exceptional food and superb service, Rowayton Seafood delivers every time.

I thought they would be some bellies and sea scallops instead. It was all fresh and cooked well but I was a bit underwhelmed at the type of meat I received. The fries were unsalted but at every table, is a salt shaker and ketchup. The children had a hot lobster roll. Even for 11 year old tummies they thought the roll was small, but delicious. The cold lobster salad roll was excellent also. A very welcoming and friendly place with I would say average food but mega star quality service. There is a pub area, indoor and outdoor dining. I doubt that the deck hasn't been power washed in five years and the plastic table outdoor tables are sagging. The Fried Seafood Platter wasn't worth it at $30 and now it's $42. All of the menu items are priced beyond reason. The fish and chips for $28 was your typical frozen fish with the water still in it and soggy when it's served. Not sure what their strategy is, but I'm thinking the end game may be in play maximizing prices and not delivering anything of value. Definitely not worth it. What a shame.

I personally wouldn't recommend this place or come again. Mostly because of point 3 below…read more 1) The presentation of my smash burger was terrible. The burger came all alone on a metal pan. Normally this is fine. But it was terribly presented lonely on a metal plate. I've had smash burgers before that had way better presentation (see Bar 140 in Shelton, who does this job on point). 2) Drinks. Terrible IPA selection, but at least they put Maine Lunch in a normal pint glass. The biggest issue is my wife ordered a couple Old Fashioned. The first was a "normal" sized glass (see pic) from my experience. She ordered a second drink that came out in a "mini" glass. It was ridiculous. It was the size between a shot glass and a normal Old Fashioned glass. I asked about this, see below. 3) When I asked about the smaller glass size on the second drink, the manager came over and said "the small glass is the normal size, you should be lucky they gave you that larger glass by accident" ummmmmmm hellll noooooooooo. I should feel lucky?????? No sir. The first glass was a NORMAL Old Fashioned sized glass. No way in helllll that second glass was "normal" size. She gets these drinks all the time and they all come in size of the first glass. So don't bullshit me..... The way the manager guy approached this is why i am giving a poor review. There is absolutely no way the second glass was normal size. I just can't accept that. It was a ridiculously small glass. Being put down like I don't know anything is not the way you treat people. You need to approach this type of situation differently.
