Went to this place for breakfast. We asked for water and drinks and she brought us water but forgot our actual drinks . Waited 15 mins for the drinks it's self then waited 45 mins for food. The cook used the same like cutting things to cut up raw meat and eggs to scramble them . The waiter didn't even know who food was whose. Cute spot with lots of ambiance. Food is great. Bacon Cheeseburger was huge and juicy. Fries are amazingly crisp. Chicken fried steak was good. French toast was delicious. Milk shakes were a great finish to the meal. Waitress was great. Even as the only one working out front, she handled it all. Nice place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner 24 hours a day. Great staff and food is tasty. The prices are very reasonable as well. I enjoyed my meal and the service. A variety of items to choose from but not many vegan or vegetarian selections. Enjoy. Today is Saturday, July 9, 2022 as I decided to revisit Penny's Diner and enjoy the great ambiance I receive there at 2:30 am in the morning. Sadly, this was not the case. I got to meet the owner as she and the cook was there. I simply ordered 2 eggs over easy and a slice of toast. She was kind to offer us water, but it went south from there. I tried to start a conversation with her as I normally do and she told us about her great homemade cream topping for her cinnamon buns. The cinnamon buns were good as my girl got one. I hated how she didn't wish to get to know me or her and simply enjoyed talking about herself keeping it short. She quickly asked for payment as if she thought I would leave without paying based on the color of my skin. This has never happened before the various other times I ate here. She didn't even offer me a copy of the receipt having me sign only the merchant copy. Tsk tsk tsk. Clearly I entered back into the 1960s when I walked through the door this time as you can tell she didn't approve of me having a Caucasian soulmate. I really enjoyed eating there but alas I will not eat there again. Looks cool but don't waste your time. You have to order your food from a QR code, pay your ticket and blindly tip without even receiving service or food (and of course the tip options shown are 18%, 20% and 22%.) after 1 hr of waiting for food, other customers were walking out. When asked for a refund for unacceptable wait times, they said that they cannot issue a refund due to "corporate rules" whatever that bs excuse means. So the diner keeps your money + tip and you walk out hungry, angry and lose money. Food is eh, save your time and money and just go to Whataburger! read more

I really liked this place. First, it's in a recreated 1950s diner with cool vintage ads on the wall. I came here for dinner with a coworker while staying in town for the night. We were the only people in the place, which really surprised me. Our server was also the cook, which I also found humorous. She was super sweet and attentive, though, and helped us have a pleasurable experience. The menu is somewhat small, but there are a couple of healthy options, which I liked. My coworker and I each ordered the buffalo burger with a side salad (yes, from buffalo meat). The food was delicious! The burger was quite large and too much to eat. When we finished, our server offered me a to-go cup for my tea, which was nice. I liked this place and would come back again if in town. read more

I've been to Penny's Diner in Yuma, AZ, and always enjoyed my visit. Was looking forward to going to this one in Santa Teresa, NM but when we got there we were told they were only doing To Go orders because there was only one person working. This is a cute diner and appears very clean. Apparently from the other reviews the burgers sound like they would be pretty good. The chicken however seem to be a frozen patty of chicken that was microwave dd too long. I couldn't cut the rubbery thing and asked to have it removed from my bill but the waitress refused. I am a sucker for diners and this is probably the cutest one in a 200 mile radius. I wish I could pick it up and move it closer to me! The diner was very clean and the staff was super personable. Myself and two co-workers stopped here to eat after a very long day on the road and this little treat of a diner in Hearne, Texas was exactly what we needed. My family was on the last leg of a road trip when we found this excellently located diner. It is cute from the outside. Once we chose a booth, the most lackluster waitress I've ever had came to take our drink order. My husband was very excited to get a real diner milkshake. She returned to the table and said the machine was broken. I asked what kind of soup they had... no soup... So I asked about the chili... no chili. No apologies. No explanations. I gave up and went to the restroom. Yuck! Filthy. Filthy booster seats and high chairs were stacked by the bathroom. The floors were unclean. Flies were buzzing around. When the food came out for my husband and two children, it was delivered by the cook. She was very personable and asked if we had everything we needed. The time was a tad extended to get our food, but we understood why, under the circumstances. It seems they may have been short staffed. As for the dining area and restrooms, they could use a more frequent deep cleaning, but it was not gross or anything. If you patronize this business and see Sharon, the cook, (small, petite, and beautiful yellow-ish hazel eyes) please be kind and patient. She deserves a lot of respect for showing up to work for 10 years, instead of sitting at home waiting for a hand-out, like so many these days. Pretty good food from what looks like a local diner. The menu is limited, but you have all the standard diner fare and they're open 24 hours, which is nice in a smaller town like Hearne. The food is pretty good. My friend liked his patty melt and my fried chicken breast sandwich was pretty good. Our waitress initially seemed pretty harried. She came back by to confirm our drink order, then our menu order. As we were finishing dinner, she left our check and the check of the table across from us because "she had to clock out." She then ran the other group's check (a large group) on my friend's credit card. When he pointed it out, she became even more flustered and had to call the manager at home. After a long wait, it was finally corrected, but with a lot of drama and hassle. I initially felt somewhat guilty about giving a bad review to a local favorite, but my guilt was overcome when I found out that Penny's is actually a chain associated with the hotel it shares a parking lot with. read more

The wife asked for a milkshake and we were told that they were out of ice cream, however when my wife came back from the restroom she saw an employee that just came on making herself a milkshake...hmmmmmm We saw other reviews about here, and the same waitress talked about in those (pierced lip), so why is she still there? Her customer service skills were above and beyond, so we definitely tipped her well.
