We loved this dump. The server was a little "hyper" if you know what I mean and ended up serving my husband his jalapeno guacamole burger in his lap. It was pretty funny. The foods pretty good, its a cool little diner. There are ALWAYS interesting truck drivers stopping in, crazy locals and you can always count on the interesting staff for a laugh or two. Disappointing breakfast. I love coming here for lunch or dinner because the milkshakes are on point! But this morning we decided to try breakfast. I'm so disappointed! First of all, the coffee was horrible. It tasted old and bitter, which is surprising because this place was PACKED! So I thought the coffee would be fresh and hot. Then I ordered "Yuma's Finest" which was supposed to be a "mountain of goodness" and turned out to be a small hill of blah. My crispy hash browns turned out to be just a small sprinkling of crispy burnt ends of hash browns under 2 tiny biscuits that turned out to be pre-made reheated biscuits and not the giant fluffy biscuits I was expecting from a restaurant like this. And to top it off the gravy also tasted instant and the scrambled eggs were rubbery. Overall, my families entire breakfast just did not look appealing. I think we'll just stick to coming here for lunch or dinner. read more

Was in a few days ago and the place was busy and no one to clean the tables. Waited for 20 mins on table to be cleaned. I then asked if someone could clean the table, the manager was rude and said yes when we get to it. I was seated at a different table and the manager yelled across the diner for a couple to come to be seated instead in stead walking a few feet and letting them know their table was ready. She is very rude and talks behind the customers backs. She needs to start busing tables herself instead of yelling at the customers! read more

Penny's, a very cute diner café....great place to have coffee and wait for the 0300 train!! We being locals, have eaten here several times, it can be hit or miss. Have had fantastic breakfast's and burgers, also a couple of not so great dinners. Must be the staffing. We stopped here on our way to Phoenix thinking it looked cool from the outside. It has potential, unfortunately the service was less than impressive. Our waitress seemed like she just did not give a crap about anything. The club sandwich featured Kraft American cheese singles. My husband ordered a bagel on the side, which took quite a while to come out since we could smell the first one burning. The coved ceilings are scribbled all over with dry erase marker showcasing food specials we would have ordered instead if we knew about them. It looked really tacky. In 2010 I got an incredible Rueben here so I thought would stop by again today on my way to Phoenix to pick up a Rueben to go. Not sure what happened. It was something I wouldn't have eaten had I not been hungry. The flavors didn't mesh and it was drenched in mayo. Oh yeah I just realized part of the reason why it was tasteless!!! It was drenched in Mayo! Hello! It's supposed to have thousand island dressing on it not mayo! Was there cheese on it? I don't know I couldn't taste it. All prefrozen foods made to your liking, not even close. Watched the cooks pull all frozen food out to make, zero seasoning put on food everything was very bland. Wait staff was eating and drinking while gathering customers plates to deliver to tables. Our waitress took order, brought food a offered one time to refill our drinks. Penny's used to be wonderful. I usually ended up visiting there at least once every two weeks. The food was great, cooks and waitresses were friendly and remembered you. Most things were actually cooked, not microwaved. Everything used to be priced almost as low as a fast food restaurant, which was a big plus. There were whiteboard markers available so kids (or a bored adult) could draw on the whiteboard walls while their food was cooked. There were never insects, smoke breaks were taken where they were supposed to be taken, everything was kept clean and tidy. It was a cozy place. But then I guess they came under new ownership a few years ago, and things just plummeted. It's sad, but I don't know that I'll ever be going back. read more

I suppose you have to sacrifice some quality for the 24 hour convenience but I really don't think herbs and spices are that expensive. Beware of this place, Where I was sitting, I could watch the cooks. One was moving fries around on different plates with his hands. They also don't know what is on the menu. My burger called for grilled onions and a pickle on the side. I received one with raw onions and 2 cucumber chips on the burger. A call to the health dept is in order. I'm sure all the retirees who live in the area love it as their eyesight and taste buds don't work as well as they used to. read more

Incredible food, and great service! I got my drink not even 1 minute after ordering, and my food came out in around 15 minutes. The restaurant was very busy, too, and there was only one server. The seating arrangements are a little strange, but it's not hard to find a good seat. My personal favorite is at the bar. The food is absolutely stunning, and the menu has options for everyone! Brought a group of 8 here for breakfast one morning; besides the food being mediocre at best and on the pricey side, the nagging flies (one of the other customers started a pile of dead ones on the table after he smacked them. yuck) and the smell from the restroom that was next to the only table big enough to seat us was enough to keep all of us from coming back for a second round. Looking for a local place to eat in Yuma. This is a metal diner car right out of the fifties. Unfortunately the food tasted like it was cooked then. My husband had the meat loaf which looked like two pieces of dried jerky. He said it was dry and tasteless. His veggies were plain wrap frozen and not heated through. I ordered breakfast figuring how could you ruin that. Do wrong. Bacon was hammered, sausage patties thin and dry, eggs not hot and hash browns were not crisp or brown. Pancake saved it for me as they were good. Server was good and refilled drinks without asking. Unfortunately my husband found a moth in his first one as he was moving his straw to the second. What a delightful diner! It was like stepping back in time inside this little space. We were seated after a few minute wait. Wait staff was friendly. Coffee superb! Our order was taken promptly. I had the Hopped-Up hash browns with ham. The hash browns were crispy and included mushrooms and onions, covered in cheese. It was delicious! My husband had the hearty breakfast and said it was very tasty. Price is reasonable (they offer military discount). We will definitely return when we travel this way again. read more

Canned slop. I had a business lunch here on a Monday afternoon, as it was convenient to the hotel. The diner was not crowded, yet the waitress took several minutes before coming over to take our drink order. It was another wait for her to return and take our food order. Very impersonable demeanour. She couldn't even spell the company name when asked by another customer; the hamster was working overtime trying to decide between "Pennies" or "Penny's". The older woman refilling coffee was far more pleasant. I ordered the "Rockin Ruben" with onion rings, a side of chilli cheese fries and a vanilla shake. Very little meat in the Ruben; it was like eating greased bread. Onion rings were mediocre; nothing special to write about. Chilli cheese fries were nas-Ty. Chilli was not just canned, but the cheapest, worst tasting canned variety I've ever had the displeasure of eating. They put pre-shredded cheese on top that didn't melt on the cold fries and chilli. Raw diced onion was liberally strewn on top of that. Food servings were small. The vanilla shake was probably the only decent thing I ordered, but they bagged me ~$5 for it. My lunch came out to $19. Plus, I reluctantly gave the waitress an undeserved $2 TIP. Also noticed they use the microwave a lot. read more

We went there for lunch the other day . We both ordered a Philly Steak and fry's my wife got ice tea and well I ordered a strawberry shake ( which was good but it took a little while to get it , however if you go there and see they only have I waitress , one cook and two people to bust the tables and I guess do the dishes anyway the waitress was great all over helping every table there wasn't a table that she wasn't touching with !
