About 20 years ago, we were waiting for a taxi to pick us up for a ride to the airport at the start of our vacation. Suddenly, water started running out of the garage. I turned the water off, flew off for our vacation, and while there, made long distance arrangements to have the water heater replaced on our return. Now, 20 years later, my wife came home and saw water all over the garage. I called a friend and asked about a plumber. She gave me the number for People's Choice. I called and spoke with Dave. Within an hour, he was at my house checking out the situation. He must have thought I was crazy when I told him I hadn't opened the door to the water heater since it was installed. We never had any issues- so why would I? Of course, I didn't know that it was leaking a bit in a few places and getting ready to die a soggy death. David told me it outlived it's life expectancy. The very next morning, David and his apprentice, Joshua, installed a brand new water heater. They did some work with the pipes and installed a water pan and pressure regulator to bring everything up to code. Even in my messy hoarders-like garage, it was obvious how well they cleaned up after the job. David took the time to carefully explain what I needed. My toilet was leaking quite a bit of water from the base so we thought it was a bad seal. After closer inspection, David realized it was not the seal but it was actually my AC unit on the other side of the wall dripping. He was able to stop the leak and cleaned up all the water. Davis is a great communicator...This is a rental property and I live out of town and David communicated with me in a way that made me feel like I was right there with him, even sending me videos and pictures of what he was explaining to me. Phenomenal service. Communication leading up to our appointment was very friendly and timely. Dave arrived on time to take a look at an issue we needed troubleshooting and also to replace an outdoor spigot. He did a great job and did not rush anything. I received a text less than a week later to make sure everything was working well. An after service follow-up text?! Who does that?? I replied with a different minor issue. Dave called me and over the next 15 minutes or so talked me through several possible fixes to try before scheduling another visit. Thanks to him I was able to take care of the minor issue myself. I was charged $360 for something that the owner knew was worthless, but said nothing. He knew I wanted a new water cut off valve at the back of the house, because of a under kitchen sink leak that he also repaired. When I found that water cut off didn't work , he simply said oh that won't cut off water in the house. It had before and the handle was not good and frozen in place . He told me right away he could fix it and make it better. I also told him I would not spend so much money on that but having it handy to turn off water if I had another plumbing leak . They were reasonably priced, got us scheduled quickly, got the job done in a day, and were a pleasure to work with. It was nice to work with someone who was honest and didn't try to up sell us on everything. Our sewer was backing up and we had a different company out who didn't put much effort into finding the issue and gave us a huge quote. People's Choice came out and ran their camera from a different access point and found the real issue which ended up being way cheaper than the other company (because the issue was isolated to one spot). "Send me a text, show me the problem" Wow, this was after the guy David and I had a long talk about my water heater problem ... I asked him about price and it was out of my budget at this point, because of not knowing what was actually wrong with the water heater . But clearly he was concerned about my situation so he said take picture of the leak and texted it to me and let me see if I can access and try to give you a more definitive price. After a couple of photo texts he accessed the situation and said barring that there is no other problems.... this would be the price $$ but if there's other issues after we get there then the price will go up to this $$. A young man by the name of Stephen called shortly after I text David and he said he was on his way and promptly showed up very courteous, respectful and professional and quoted me a price less than what was quoted earlier I was happy to pay what was quoted earlier but he said don't worry just do a Yelp he also informed me of another potential problem which at this time I couldn't take care of however I will be using them again in the future in about a month. I know I've only use them once and for short period of time but I do highly recommend them and will be recommending them to my friends. What I liked about the conversation on the phone: it was not standardize he did not talk to me like this was just "business as usual" he actually talk to me like I was a human on the other line if he were a doctor people would say he had a great bedside manner I'm just saying he wasn't trying to make a sale he was just being for real and honest. I had called David to checkout some small plumbing concerns with a rental property I had just purchased. I live in Austin, so he went to check it out and let me know that the water to the house wasn't currently turned on. I felt badly because I hate to waste anyone's time. He still checked everything out and gave me the best diagnosis he could without water. As time proceeded, I had multiple other contractors in to work on other aspects of the property and they ended up taking care of the small plumbing concerns. So when an opportunity came up for a installing piping for a washer and dryer, I called David again. He came to the site himself, completed the job the next day, for a fair price. I really want to give Dave 4 stars. He IS super friendly and has great communication. He responds promptly to texts and calls and arrived on time (for both visits). He could not figure out what was wrong with my water heater but had no problem charging me a $70 "diagnostic fee" for the privilege of looking at it. He tripped a breaker because he turned my water heater thermostat up past 150 (max) degrees to test if "the meter was broken." He quoted me $199 for a garbage disposal install and charged me $351 because he broke an unrelated pipe in the process of installing it. Finally, the disposal he installed STILL DOES NOT WORK because THERE IS NO ELECTRICAL OUTLET for it, therefore the unit cannot be turned on and I need an electrician. To be fair, he did tell me after the disposal was almost completely installed that there was no electric, but what was I supposed to do at that point? He looked under the sink [see diagnostic fee] and I assumed we were good to go. Even more frustratingly, the Home warranty plumber came out and fixed the problem in about 15 minutes. There is nothing wrong with the water heater. There was something going on with the outside garden hose hookup which he snipped and fixed in like 5 mins. $70 and problem solved. Water heater is now at 125 degrees and working beautifully. We are now a week later and I still haven't got an electrician out here so I can have a working disposal. Will probably end up removing and returning disposal, if possible. Wish I had never called People's Choice. read more

I was thoroughly impressed with the service and courtesy of this company. I called one day and they were able to come over the next day. They were even able to show up earlier than anticipated. David was very polite and thoroughly explained what was wrong with the faucet in the bathroom. He had to go get a part across town, but was back quickly. He also fixed the garbage disposal and the kitchen faucet. The cost was actually lower than he originally estimated. And we have a 90 day guarantee. This is probably the best experience I've had dealing with a plumber. Half the price for more and better work than Immediate Response. I broke my neighbor's water line from the main to the sprinkler box. It was after 6 pm and very few places available. I chose Immediate Response who charged $200 just to dig I foot around the line. The next day I broke my own line the same way during the day with a UHaul. People's Choice did it for no charge at all. I called and David told me he would be able to come out that day which was incredibly convenient and he was about 25% cheaper than the previous quotes. From the phone call to meeting in person, they were very courteous and professional. While at work, my wife was available for the appointment and they explained to her what they were going to do and then what they actually did in where she would understand. They quickly drained,filled, and tested my WH and turned out to be working fine. He charged an easy 65 bucks for the house call and no problems since. He came and looked at the stuff I needed done and told me it was $180/hr up front but not until he started the job did he tell me I needed new faucets that he didn't have and if he did it would cost me more money to get from him instead of just purchasing and having him install. He basically tightened a bunch of screws on the things he could fix and charged $340. I still need the get the faucets and have them installed. First of all, I want to thank David for not treating me like some moron by telling me after explaining the issue that the water softener is the problem. I already confirmed that, cleared out my heaters, and performed several basic troubleshooting steps to identify to issue myself. I am usually wary about calling a plumber as they are rarely an inexpensive choice. But I was at a loss at what was causing my water pressure problems and David was very professional in listening to what I had done and what I believed was wrong. Ultimately he quoted a price at the beginning and zeroed in on the problem with a confident idea that this was it. My water flow is now outstanding and I would even say better than when the house was originally built 5 years ago.
