Took my wife's van in for 4 tires and alignment, was told less than 2 hrs. it took almost 3 hrs. the alignment machine had to be fixed while the van was on it. never got a print out of the before and after of the alignment. I have called corporate 6 times over the last 2 weeks with no one returning calls. the manager said there is no data to give me a printout of the alignment. so, my question is how do I know it was done. I am writing to formally complain about a serious and dangerous service failure at your location (Eatontown, NJ) and to request a full refund for the brake work performed. I had my front and rear brakes replaced, along with new rotors, at your store, for which I paid approximately $1,200 (after coupons). I drove roughly 20 miles from the location toward my home. About one-third of the way into that drive, I heard a loud pop, followed by severe screeching when attempting to accelerate. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, I immediately pulled over and contacted the store to inform them that the vehicle would be returning. Despite my hesitation, given my financial investment, I had the car towed back to the location via AAA. Once the vehicle was inspected, your staff confirmed that the caliper bolt on the left front brake had come off and needed to be re-torqued. To be clear: this indicates that the brake assembly was not properly secured during installation. This is not a minor oversight. A failure of this nature could have resulted in catastrophic damage, serious injury, or death. As a direct result of this incident, I was without my vehicle for an additional day and was required to take extra time off work. After the incident, I completed the internal survey sent by your company. It took an extended period before I received any response, and when I finally did, it was not from store management but from a third-party representative. That individual abruptly ended the call while I was explaining my concerns. I have never received any follow-up or resolution from Pep Boys since. I am raising this issue again because I just had my first oil change since the repair (not at a Pep Boys). During that visit, the manager noted visible damage to my front left rotor and explained that this damage will cause accelerated brake wear and require more frequent (and costly) rotor replacements going forward. After hearing the circumstances of the Pep Boys repair, that manager explicitly advised me to seek a full refund or pursue legal action. Accordingly, I am requesting a full refund for the brake and rotor service performed. The service provided was not only substandard but dangerous. Pep Boys is fortunate that no one was injured as a result of this failure. I will not return to any Pep Boys location in the future. Very shady, the service manager called me and said that the Technician said that I needed new windshield wiper blades. I told him that I had just replaced them 5 days earlier. I paid to have my tires rotated. I numbered all 4 tires prior to taking care to Pep Boys to make sure they actually rotated the tires. After paying my bill I checked and all 4 tires were in the same position as when I took the care in. I instructed the service manager to just credit my card, he told me he couldn't do that, that I needed to bring my car back in. We took it back in and they said their Technician was sick, that we would have to bring it back in a third time. Went for two new front tires and a wheel alignment, Eatontown, NJ location. The alignment was not done or was not done correctly. I asked for an alignment print out when my vehicle was done and their "printer was not working." I also thought having a wheel alignment and two tires installed in one hour was too fast to have included a proper alignment. Went to another location where the alignment was checked, corrected and done properly. I will contact corporate to address the rest of this situation and also compliment the location that took the time to quickly resolve my issue. Because of their kindness and professionalism and reasonable prices, I had them replace the last 2 tires also purchasing all 4 new tires. Avoid the Eatontown NJ Pep boys location at all costs!!! I had an appointment scheduled to have brakes and tires done at 12 PM. I was told the car would be finished by 4 PM. By 5 PM the car was not finished and I heard the Store Manager on the phone and it was apparent they did NOT have the parts needed to repair my car, even though the mechanic had pulled my car brakes apart and was waiting to do the repair. While sitting in their waiting room only 15 feet away, I overheard the store manager Joe tell an employee to CALL me and tell me and tell me my car would not be done that day. I had already been there over 5 hours at this point. The employee pointed over to me and told the Manager Joe that I had been sitting there for over 5 hours. THE MANAGER THEN PROCEDED TO LEAVE FOR THE DAY! This left me without a driveable car And myself, the store employee and mechanic not knowing what to do. The entire day I had asked for a detailed invoice regarding the work to be done and the costs. I was continually given excuses why they couldn't give me this to me until the work was done. I was told by Joe the Manager that they were cheaper than a dealership which was NOT true and were actually more expensive! I didn't leave the location until 6 and a half hours later. I was forced to leave with a car that had to have to it's old worn out brakes put back on it in order for me to drive home. I was NEVER TOLD at any time until 5 hours later that there was any problems or that they didnt have or couldn't get the parts needed to do the brakes on my car. I was forced to go to another location to have my brakes repaired. I was also lied to that tires I had purchased from them were eligible for a 100 dollars rebate. This was NOT True. Upon contacting Joe the store manager again, he was not only rude but refused to do anything to rectify the situation. If you want the worst car repair experience possible then go to this location. This store looks a Pep Boys from a third world country. It was dirty, infested with flies, and didn't even have a working TV in the waiting room. The Pep Boys Towing Service (800-757-2697) is a joke. Waited 2 hours for a tow truck which never showed. I had to call them to find that out. The second tow truck never showed either. I went here to have a slow leak in a tire plugged in a new Jeep. the mechanic Gregory-Jean-Louis drove my Jeep into a ramp slashing the good tire and damaging the fender directly over the tire. Raj Singh denies responsibility for the fender and called us in Canada to say so, they do admit the tire. The mechanic needs a reprimand and training, Raj need a refresh in customer relations. If I could give them a zero I would. They got away with it and as the other review says they are scam artists, strange the only fender damaged was directly over the tire they slashed and no such damage existed before they drove it. Dont trust them with your car or to treat you fairly. read more

Kind of surprised about the amount of bad reviews for this location. Albeit, I haven't had major work done here... but items such as tire changes and alignments are just fine. I normally deal with Megan and when I come in, she is always very nice, very professional, and when she quotes a price... it's the price. My only gripe about this location is they do have a retail section for some items... except there is no rhyme or reason on what they stock. Like typical stuff that you would think they have... they don't. Sometimes I feel like it would be better to just do away with the retail section so there wouldn't be no question that you needed to go to the ocean location. As far as the service, like I said I haven't had any problems. Had a set of tires mounted and one tire has a leaky valve... took it back and they replaced it right away. No hassles read more

This place is terrible. First I was quoted a higher price than what I was quoted online. Even after showing the team member behind the counter they were only willing to come down to $5 over the online quote. Secondly I'm an auto tradesman by profession working both on the mechanical side and collision side. 2hrs 45min for tires and an alignment on a Honda is absurd. If the shop was busy I could understand and I would expect the team member behind the counter to express to me that they are behind and the wait will be long but no. Took good care of me. Went in to replace a battery and Raj explained the options. Didn't end up selling me the most expensive but something that was reasonable and half of what the dealer wanted. He also noticed my tire treads were showing. And explained the issues with the tires, uneven wear and such. I ended up getting a new set of tires. Spent less than I did when I bought them on tire rack. Overall very happy. Update: changed rating from 5 to 3. Had to go back twice after a tire install. Turns out the valve on one of the tires was leaking. It was a Cooper tire that was recommended. Not sure if it was defective but they fixed it. It's too bad I can't give "no stars", because this place deserves nothing. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING. They are incompetent, unqualified scam artists who are only out to separate you from your hard-earned dollars. I went here for routine maintenance and a pre-road trip check in Dec 2012. They informed me that I needed transfer case work and rear bearings work before going on my cross-country drive. I thought, OUCH, but I have to be safe. $1600 later I walked out thinking my baby was in good shape. Yes, I made it to LA without problems, but I've had problems ever since, and it makes me wonder just what work they really did, if any, and how much was unnecessary or BOTCHED. I'm currently sitting in a TRUSTWORTHY auto shop awaiting word on the latest problem, the ABS warning light that Pep Boys in Eatontown said 'wasn't anything to worry about, just a blown sensor'. In reality it is my 4-wheel-drive locking up affecting my steering and braking. So far, four error codes have been found and the tab has risen to $300, and they haven't even finished diagnosing the problem yet. If Pep boys had been honest with me in the beginning (or known what the hell they were talking about), there's a good chance I wouldn't be sitting here waiting for more bad news now.
