My rotor was making a rubbing sound but went away immediately. I went thinking an estimate was coming turns out the lack of driving frequently just made a rust spot from sitting in one position but the rotors and brakes were just fine. Easily could have told me "yeah man looks aweful hears the1k worth of work estimate. but instead he let me know although the brakes are good the front tires are wearing a little and to watch them and printed out all the options they had and made me aware of deals offered wish i had names. 10 am apt. So last year about this same time I used pep boys for an oil change. It was out of sheer laziness. Later on in the night after my oil change I got a warning that my oil was low. The next morning I checked the oil to see how much was in there...the dip stick showed none. I tried several more times and got nothing. I drive it to pep boys who acted as if they were doing me a favor by giving me a "free" oil change. No, I paid for an oil change and got none. I swore never to use them again. Fast forward a year. I can't get into any dealership for an oil change for two weeks. In all the surrounding dealerships. I am leaving for vacation in a few days and need the oil changed. I decided to use pep boys again. I got a tire rotation and oil change. Or so I thought. I marked my tires before I went in to make sure they were rotated. When I left it was pouring so I was unable to check my tires. Later that night I checked my tires, none were rotated. I confirmed on the paperwork that Armando C. says he rotated the tires. It's "free", but it's an essential service. I rotate the tires every other oil change. How are you guys so bad? I have to question what are you actually doing there? You charged me for the best oil, is that even in my truck? You're not even saving people money from dealerships. It's the same price at the dealership for an oil change as it is at Pep Boys. I'd absolute stay away from this place. I'd give it 0 stars. We had a great experience at the Pep Boys in Glassboro recently (and have had pretty consistent good experiences for the past year.) We came in for an oil change and said if they had time to checks the brakes, we'd appreciate it since we'd been told last fall we'd need to replace the rear pads soon and were feeling it. Not only did they make time check the brakes, but they were able to get us in right away to get the pads replaced (which we knew we definitely were in need of) that day! I was able to sit in the waiting area on (fast) free Wifi and get so much work done. We were so grateful that we didn't have to take off work during the week to get it done. On star is to much for the service, but it is minimum. I came to the shop with flat tire, They did not have a tire and said it could be in one or two days. Then they said that I need to replace four tires and refused to put a tire on, even when I was stranded in my trip. A nice girl next day tried to get my car fixed, but a manager or whoever he was did not let her, he insisted on 4 new tires. I had rear tires replaced less than than month ago, so I refused, drove my disabled car to Mdas. Tey make me able to go. The arogant, to say the least manager, did not check that front and rear tires on BMV X1 are different sizes by design . Just stupid or gready? For sure arogant. Avoid at all cost. Id love to say it was a good experience considering my boyfriend worked for pep boys for years (woodbury location) This establishment in Glassboro was a whole mess. I got new tires on my car and when i go to leave my tire sensor light is on. They broke 2 tire sensors on my car and tried blaming a previous worker. Also did not replace my tire sensors and over charged me for parts i did not receive. Then we go to switch my brakes out and they have stripped my lug nuts down. I do not recommend bringing your car here at all. They have no idea what they are doing and they don't take accountability. read more

Horrible service. Just wanted to get a tire repaired. Got in 8am. One person before me it took 10 minutes before the service attendant even spoke to me. No clue what he was doing and there were several other people in the service area. No problem thought it might because they just opened. The attendant said it might take an hour for my car. I told him I would wait. (Mind you there is only one customer here). I walked to the supermarket a half mile away. Shopped carried all my groceries back. And hour and half later. They had not even looked at my car. Told that's okay I'll go somewhere else. And they could not find my keys. They found them but truly horrible service. My good friends car was having problems, We took it here to get checked out and they tried to charge over $1600 dollars to get the car fixed, We then took it to another shop and the problems they said needed to be fix weren't even the problems with my car. The customer service was absolutely terrible & degrading. We were told to come here anytime between 9am to 5pm.. the person we had to speak to wasn't even in the facility. I waited at the service counter (that was unattended) for 15 mins to the point where I called the phone and still nobody seemed in a rush. Update: Originally 5 stars. Now? 1 star. I made an appointment for my car via the app. My spouse dropped the car off and had the 'joy' of working with Anthony at the service desk. In making the appointment through the app, I had asked for what I wanted done. Anthony was completely rude and asked a series of questions that were addressed in the booking of the appointment. He then treated her like a dumbass because she didn't know what kind of oil the car previously had in it. The whole transaction, and his attitude towards a woman who knows little about cars was disappointing. Will not use them again. Treat people better and walk them through the experience or make a recommendation on what you would do if it's your car - don't belittle people that aren't in the industry and just want a standard 5,000 mile service. read more

My lord, if you know what's good for you, don't come here. Unless you want to be sh*t talked by their manager while you're standing there. I made the horrible mistake of getting a new battery here. I'm a car enthusiast so I honestly should have known better than to go to a Pep Boys but my benefit-of-the-doubt personality led me astray. I dropped it off around lunchtime and they promised me that my car would be done by close at 8PM. At 7:45 I called to ask what was up and they said that it wouldn't be done until tomorrow. Okay, whatever. I drive for a living so I needed my car by 11AM for work. I, again, had to call and ask about the status of my car and they said it was ready so I could go pick it up whenever, yay! Unfortunately I had no idea what was ahead of me. I took a short break from work to go pick up my car with my boyfriend and I noticed when I turned it on that the engine was idling very low. I didn't think anything of it because I needed to get back to work, figured it was just because it hadn't been started yet that day. It then proceeded to drive 0.5 miles and DIE in the middle of the road next to Landmark!!!!! I had to get my car towed back to Pep Boys and proceeded to lose the entire rest of the day at work because I had to wait around to see what they messed up with my car! They didn't let the car re-learn the idle speed so the car ended up idling too low and stalling. They only offered me half of what I paid back. What a joke. And then the manager proceeded to sh*t talk me while I was standing at the counter, saying things like "Is she going to come in here and stab me?" Are you kidding? Nice professionalism! NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PEPBOYS!!!! I have had two experiences with this pep boys. The first was when they switched out my tires for me; naively, I thought they were helping me. The second was when I went back to them to get a screw out of one of the tires two months later, I was told that they broke two lug nut shafts and that I needed a whole new tire. I was supposed to pay for all of this, even though they were the ones that put the lug nuts on too tight with a torque gun and then ripped and tore them out. I told them that since the entire problem happened because of them, that they should pay for it. The manager, Andrew, then got very aggressive with me, postured as if he was trying to intimidate me, told me that I was committing theft of service, and kicked me out of the store without my key! I was attempting to contact corporate when I was called by an employee to get my car. Needless to say, I went to some place else and he patched the hole without needing to replace the entire tire, nor breaking anything on my car. Additionally, none of the staff were wearing a mask and they waited until the end of my service time frame to tell me all of this information! I highly advise all my New Jersey friends not to go to the store. I go in and ask for a timing chain spindle/ timing chain acuator. Don't really know what its called. Well this (and I didn't get his name, thats why im using descriptions) fat blonde kid says we don't have it, then a thin hippy - looking kid comes and tries to look it up. Then they both say "We don't have it." Here's where it gets good...BULLSHIT DETECTION MODE ACTIVATED....So I say how do you know you don't have it if you don't know what I'm looking for? He says "I'm a mechanic, I know what it looks like and we don't have it!" ... "What does it look like?" I said ..."It looks like a small bolt." He says as he looks down at the package of a 10mm bolt i put in front of him and said "this is what it looks like but bigger." ... I ask "Okay, how many timing chains does my car have?" ...he says "Look if you don't believe go ask someone else." This store has people who know nothing about cars, parts, or anything so BEWARE, if you don't know exactly what you need, have a picture, and a manuel with you. YOU COULD END UP BUYING A WHOLE NEW ENGINE BECAUSE YOUR O2 sensor a $17 item went bad. read more

Having bought numerous sets of tires over the years at this store, the service department as well as the parts department have always been excellent. However my son took his daughters car to here to get the front tires fixed. After leaving the store immediately he heard a noise coming from front wheels. He checked and found out that they never tighten the wheel lug nuts at all. After taking it back he said there wasn't even the apology by the service department. Make sure you watch them tighten your wheels regardless of what the sign says about their insurance not covering you if you're in the shop! read more

After ripping me off for $600 to unsuccessfully get a car ready for inspection I got a Pep Boys voucher for $50. I thought I'd try once more with something simple like an oil change and brake light replacement. It took from 9:30 until 3PM with each phone call promising me it would be done soon. When I finally got my car back - THEY HADN'T EVEN REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT! How hard is that Lazy Boys! I was a regular customer and wanted to support a business with local headquarters. Had to have my car towed here when it overheated on the highway. Came in just as they were closing for the night. They replaced two belts and a battery, and told me it was ready by the end of the day. I took the hour-long trip down to pick it up, only for the car to overheat again a few miles out. I took it back, just as they were closing (again). The next day they had fixed the problem free of charge. So all in all I had to make 4 hour-long trips to get there and back and they apparently did not do a test drive the first time but they didnt charge me for fixing their mistake. read more

Upon entering into the splendor of the marble floors and mahogany furnishings and making my way to the service section of Pepboys in Glassboro I was promply greated by an associate named Chad. I explained that I was interested in an aquatic adaptation device for my car and that i would need it back by 6 the next day. Chad explained the challenge the request would create but assured me that it would be ready. As he explained that they had their most talented mechanic that would assemble my dream car, in walked a one eyed pirate with a peg leg named Scalleywag Steve. One look at him and I could tell the years on the 7 seas had taken a toll on him. But an old soul like Steve had more wisdom on nautical mechanics than the entire eastern regional Pepboys staff. I knew without a doubt that Scalleywag Steve and his crew of hardened pirates would craft the most feared vessel in the ocean. The car was transformed overnight into pirate ship of unmatched navigational and tactical technologies. The even gave my car a cloak of invisibility that a parrot would fly from the top of the crows nest to the front of the car. However, when I pick up my car Chad explain to me the annual fee associated with the parrot was $200 a year! Definitely a surprise on the bill but it's absolutely worth it considering I am now a member of Scallywags Steve's fleet. Along with pillaging and rum consumption we have a book club at our local library twice a month and discuss our the rich history of Harry Potter. I absolutely love being serviced by the guys at pepboys! Truly a gifted team of not just mechanics but dream builders! I'll always trust the boys! But seriously, i do enjoy going there. I come in every 3 months for my oil change and other routine maintenance and my 2005 Corolla is running just fine with a hundred and fifty thousand miles. Really a good staff at this location and I will absolutely be a customer for life considering they are the only ones with the knowledge of repairing a pirate ship car. read more

Just yesterday I had my oil changed at my nearby Mavis in somers point but they forgot to put the oil plug back in. I was on 55 heading to Philly for the weekend when my low oil pressure alarm came on. I was towed to this Pep Boys and received awesome service! I called ahead and spoke with Matt. After I made sure they were open and had the special oil I needed, Matt said he couldn't make any promises about fixing my car. Upon arrival, Matt met me at the counter and checked my car right away. That's when he found the oil plug sitting in the splash guard. He put more oil in my car, replaced the plug, and checked the filter. To top it off, he didn't charge me anything! He said I had a rough enough day as it was. He didn't have to do that but I certainly appreciated it. Thank you Matt for your caring service!! It's not some old beater that spends a lot of time in the mud. So that excuse was bull. Then one of their guys said they wouldn't charge me the labor costs for replacing them. Today, I brought my car into Pep Boys for Service. An underneath part that protects the engine had torn off. They were so responsive!! My wait time was less than an hour, which I was grateful for, as well as the fact as they took the time to fix the bracket that held my license plate on the front of the car! I recently had a hectic morning with a tire rupture in the early morning hours. I had my car towed to the Glassboro Pepboys, and decided since it was already there, I would replace all of my tires and have other services done. I called them to see if they could take me in, because obviously it was a sudden thing. They took my car in immediately, had excellent tires ready for me after I made my choice, took care of all of my requests, and called me just a few hours later to let me know my car was finished! Not only do I appreciate them taking my car in on such a short notice, but their customer service was phenomenal! Mike D and Stan, both managers at the shop, went above and beyond to make sure I was one satisfied customer! I have been going to this particular Pepboys for years because of people like them. I even paid extra to have my car towed to this location - well worth it for great service! Thank you to everyone who aided in a great visit (on a very stressful morning)! According to PepBoys.com, all of their mechanics are ASE Certified. Certified incompetent is more appropriate. I include the spineless wimp of a manager. They hire unskilled workers at this location and allow them to work unsupervised on customers' cars. Case in point. I special ordered four tires costing approximately $700. This disqualified the "Buy three and get the fourth one free" promotion. As it only pertains to "in stock" tires. I also wanted mounting , balancing, front end alignment for a est. price of $120. additional. Price was adjusted because I purchased tires there so mounting was a no charge. It was dark when I picked my car up. The next morning I go out to check tire pressures. It was bad enough they were all over inflated by five or more pounds of air, the kicker was that they were all mounted inside out! Note: moulded on either sidewall is INSIDE or OUTSIDE for proper directional mounting. In this case, not just one but, all four tires were improperly mounted. "INSIDE" was facing out. Needless to say, I went back and raised HELL! I demanded a "do-over" remounting, balancing and realignment which was done. As the "manager" never acknowledged my presence or even offered what could be considered a sincere apology I can only determine that he is a spineless wimp posing as manager of this location. As a result of this incident I will NEVER patronize Pep Boys again. Anywhere! read more

these positive reviews are bullsh#t from the people who work there. this is the WORST. i've brought my car there twice in the past two years for simple little things. i drove away with a car that hesitated, coughed, and stalled at almost every red light. i brought it to my local mazda dealer, and they showed me an air sensor that had been unplugged. i asked, "is it possible that hitting a hard pothole would do that?" they said, "absolutely no way. someone intentionally unplugged this. no question." before that i went in for a simple brake pad replacement. they said there was a screw lodged in the disc and it had ruined it. i knew that was crap because i told them, "if there was a screw in there, i would have known it. the car wouldn't have been driveable. you guys messed up." they said they wouldn't give me my keys back unless i paid the $800 for what it cost. they're a total rip-off joint. read more

False notations on paperwork, mechanic and manager tried to cover up work not done. Unsafe conditions remained as they sent my wife away with her car to take a road trip. I told them I have to fill the tire with air twice a week.. They rotated the tires and said they fixed the leak, but the manager did not know what caused the leak. I also told them my wife was taking a road trip the next day and needed to make sure the tire was fixed, was bought there Nov 2012. The next day, the tire was flat again. I took it back and the mechanic took out a nail. All they did was rotate the tires, not sure if they even filled it, it was at 18 lbs the next morning. When I called them to advise and question who did the work, they said that the tire had been plugged. When I got a copy of the paperwork, the area previously noted was scratched out, and it was replaced with the wording "fixed tire". Management needs to emphasize the importance of the mechanics work, especially when it involves tires and brakes. Previous problem with them charging me to change the oil and filter. They gave me a new sticker, wrote when an oil change was needed next, and reset the maint req warning light. What they failed to do was change the oil and filter. When I questioned them, they said the mechanic must have been side tracked. How many things are they charging for that they never do????? read more

I needed an oil change, new brake rotors, and a timing belt on my Hyundai Tuscon. I needed all of this work done before I deployed on military orders. I walked in on a saturday, dropped my car off saturday night, and by sunday at noon the next day all of this work was completed. The staff was extremely professional. There was a younger guy who worked on my car who did an excellent job with all of the work. I believe I was also helped by the assistant supervisor, named Jim. It should be noted that Jim is prior military, and I believe the manager Mike is as well. Both demonstrated extreme professionalism, and I hold this team in high regard. Jim answered all of my questions, and assured me my vehicle would be completed by the time I needed it. Not only was my vehicle ahead of schedule, but it was there were several other small items they took care of that they noticed needed work- which I greatly appreciated. In addition, Jim gave me a military discount which really helped out. I am grateful for the work they did, and will be a loyal customer to Pep Boys in Glassboro as long as I live here. Because of their expert service, professionalism, and appreciation for military, I will continue to send everyone who needs work done on their vehicle to this location.
