The absolute WORST! These guys suck on ice. They're overpriced, good for MAYBE wax or a tail light on sale. Scheduled an appointment for an oil change, as I was short on time and usually bang one out in about 20 mins on my own. They left my car on the lift for almost an hour before the clown changing the oil came back from whatever he was doing. Two hours for an oil change! Not to mention, these guys know dick about cars. When I made the appointment online it was days in advance. I showed up to the appointment on time and they did not have my tires (they should have checked the day before to let me know). I had to come back 2 hours later and wait a bit over 2 hours for my tires to be replaced. Due to the first inconvenience, I should have been taken care of right away but I waited 40 minutes before my car was taken into the garage. The staff was nice but more could have been done to speed up the process. After about an hour and 30 minutes of waiting for the tires to be replaced, they told me that all four rooters and brake pads needed to be replaced. Two weeks prior all four brake pads and my two front rooters were replaced by my uncle who is a mechanic. They lied and tried to take advantage. On top of that they told another woman who was there getting her car fixed that she needed another service done to her care, she needed to remind them that she took care of that last time she was there and they needed to check their records. Awful experience. Management was friendly and apologetic but came in for something routine and was told that it should be completed in 15 mins. They took me right away, started working on the car. Started another car and let mine sit for hours and then got back to completing mine when it was convenient for them. Took over three hours before the car was returned to me for the service I was quoted would take 15 mins. Upon receipt the car was making loud grinding noises and had to send it back for another hour. All up all in, took approx 4 hours which took up all of my afternoon. Never coming back here. read more

Had my car for 24 hours waiting for parts. So I took my car back. Was going to be charged double for something I got done some place else. The reason I am writing this is because I was told that there was a noise bc my suspension needed work. 1st of all I never heard a noise. $1200 for this work. Billy, Felix, and Dui were very helpful in my visit to Pep Boys. I went in miserable because of a problem with my car and came out with a huge smile on my face. Billy kept me updated throughout the whole thing, was very friendly, clean, and organized with his work. Felix spoke to me for a couple of minutes and gave me recommendations on what to do the next time it happens and was very respectful and helpful. Dui was a very happy guy and was sharing jokes with me as I was checking out. I will always return to Pep Boys in Hasbrouck Heights because of these three people that take extreme pride in their jobs. Arrived here at 7:45. Realized they don't open until 8am on wed. Decided to sit and wait rather than going to another store for what I needed. Waited until 8 - lights still off, doors locked. Five customers waiting outside along with two employees. The manager arrived at 8:07 to unlock. Could not get in until 8:10. Waste of my time waiting. Then, I pick out what I need after five minutes and am told that they can't ring me out because the registers were still closed. This took another few minutes for them to be ready to sell product. Absolutely the biggest bunch of clowns I've ever met. The "mechanic" that "worked" on my car had no idea how to do a proper oil change on a Genesis Rspec. His tool chest was a box on the floor and he didn't have the right tools to do the oil change properly. When I told the " Assistant Manger" TRAVIS, that the mechanic had no clue as to what he was doing, Travis proceeded to tell me, in between puffing away on his vape pen and finger banging his cell phone, that the mechanic knew what he was doing and that I really shouldn't worry about it!! Over an hour later my car was finished. When the mechanic brought my keys to the register, I saw his hands were covered in grease, yup, you guessed it, that same grease was on my keys, seat, door handles and glove box!! Absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced at a Pep Boys!! These guys are a freakin' joke!! Never again!! Please, do yourself a favor and find a place that actually cares about their customers and offers quality workmanship with trained mechanics!!!!! Brought my car in for a fluid evaluation, they kept my car for a week with periodic calls saying they were looking for where the car was leaking from and then called me with a price of $700 to change a power steering revisor!?!? And then said they would have to change the pump as well even though admittedly said nothing was wrong with it at the time but that it would go soon. Once I refused the work they said I owed them for the labor over $300 that the mechanic had spent his time searching for the leak... Once I refused that the GM Guary said they no longer had my car and didn't know where it was. Once I called corporate they told me I can pick up my car for the original evaluation leak cost of $35.00 but when I came to pick up the car they passive aggressively drained my battery and the car would t start and they told me it would be a while before they can take a look at it!!!! Finally I get my car back with the battery jump started and when I bring the car to my mechanic he discovers that they super glued the oil dip stick so you can no longer check the fluid levels... I am waiting to hear back from corporate and The issue is still ongoing but I wanted t write this review now and let everyone know STAY AWAY FROM PEP BOYS in Heights!!!! My right rear caliper was sticking on a Sunday, I pulled over to it smoking. I drove all the way from Kinnelon to this site and by then it had unstuck and stopped smoking. They took the car right in, no problem right? WRONG .... He told me I needed rear brakes, rotors and new calipers. He then said they did not have the part and they had to order it... hmmm ok. I asked how much everything would be and the guy told me he didnt know... I was confused at that point because Pep Boys is a AUTO PART STORE as well. They should know the price of their parts by simply looking. He then said he would give me an estimate. $828!!!!!!!!! I looked over the estimate and noticed they charged me for 2 calipers when I just needed 1 side. He told me that I had to get both done because it is like the brakes. I am a woman and felt like I was being conned. I told them to remove my car from the lift and I would drive it to my own mechanic. He then stated he cannot let me drive my car because it was dangerous. At that point my car was acting fine at that point so I have no idea why he would state this. He told me I had to get it towed... I argued with him, it was my car I could do what I want. Long story short, I safely made it home to Jersey City with ZERO incident. I purchased the parts at Advanced Auto Parts for 200$ the next day and my mechanic charged me 125 in labor. $325.00 for the $828.00 Pep Boys quoted me. Honestly I never ever write reviews and was worried about coming here due to the bad rating. I was helped by billy and he changed my car battery and wipers in less than 10 min. Autozone wouldn't even change my car battery because Infiniti's require taking apart several parts to get to the battery. Billy was extremely quick and experienced and got the job done asap. He was honest with me about what needs to be changed and doesn't need to be. Ask for him when you get there. read more

I guess I had a different experience than most, but I couldn't be happier with the service at Pep Boys. I went in to replace my tire & rim after hitting a giant pot hole. Paul took my work order. He was friendly & gave me several different pricing options, which I appreciated. Billy was the mechanic that worked on my car. He was courteous & took the time to explain to me what exactly was wrong with the tire & rim. He even tried to savage my old tire before replacing it! I was in and out in under a half hour. I had a scheduled appointment for a wheel alignment. I made the appointment by telephone a day ahead. I showed up for my appointment 30 minutes early. I was told by the assistant manager that they could not do my alignment because the do not do alignments at that time. They had my telephone number and could have called me. The person doing alignment was working on a wheel alignment but the assistant manager did not want to ask him to stay overtime. I then get a ridiculous email stating that they are sorry I missed my appointment and would i like to reschedule.I made an appointment at a different location since this location is unbelievable. They have no consideration for the customer. One star is too much to even give them. read more

Great customer service! Knowledgable employees. I went in for a new battery and chose the type that was best for my car it was installed and had a few other things done on this occasion; routine maintenance. Everything was done waayyyyyy faster than I was expecting. My car had also been vandalized prior to me going there and I did not have the code for the radio. I went to acura and they wanted me to go to a manhattan location where i purchased it and pay $200.00 for them to simply put in the radio security code. The employees at pep boys called up acura and took care of it in just a few minutes after all the other service had been done! I've come to this location several times along with other locations, but this location definitely exceeds in customer service. BTW I am a woman and I always do my research before doing any type of service or purchasing to know what to expect before I go and they have never tried to rip me off. Hard to explain how to really rate this place. My son was sideswiped by a driver who didn't stop on a stop sign and went up the curb. My tire blew up. I went to pep boys made a 9:00am appointment on a Sunday and my car was sitting in the parking lot for an hour before someone finally worked on it. One tire was replaced with a Michelin . I asked why because I found its a more expensive tire, the mechanic said because the tread should match for all tires. Then the mechanic said he had to replace the bushing on both front and then he said I had to replace the long connecting arm or something for $300 a piece. They said I have to replace it immediately but he had to order the part and that I should return Tuesday and he would call me when the part arrives. It is now Sunday, one week later, not heard from pep boys. Now I am not sure if it's true that I needed to replace these parts that would cost me so much, or pep boys decided I really don't need it and they are scamming me because I'm a female and don't know anything about cars. I will bring my car someplace else to see if true. read more

this is the review i left on tirerack I order my set of tires from Tire Rack which I had no issue what so ever fast and on time. I needed installation and look up  recommended installer near me on Tire Rack, I call  firestone my first choice with great rating and review on the website but they couldn't take me in on May 4th at 6pm so I decided to go with Pepboys. Pepboys had  Average rating with some negativity but I figure time has change they maybe got better. What a mistake I made... I gave them a call spoke with one of their customer service at parts, I inform them that I bought new tires and needed my old tires taken off and to take off the old TPMS and put on the new ones with new tires and mount an balance and I requested to keep the old sensor. I was given a price of a little over a $100 over the phone for the entire job which was the same rate as firestone. I went in to the store, store manager Ceaser help me and said that this job will be around $160 and that I was given the wrong price......the firestone I call earlier gave me the same price of around $100... boy did I wish I went to them. Left with no choice since I am already there I gave in.  The service was horrible my rims was standing up and they had it fell a few times causing small scratch on the face of the wheel. They manage to take of the tires change the tpms and mount the same tires back on, then realizes they mess up when they saw the new tires in the backseat of my car. After 2 and half hour later everything was done I paid and drove off. Time is almost 8:30pm they close at 9pm my tpms light comes on 5 min away from home I was piss, I thought to myself why not look into the box of tpms sensor I ask for back, wow when I open it 2 sensor was old and 2 sensor was new why I know this model number is totally different. May 5th 9am I call and let them know of my issue not only did they question me saying I was wrong I told them the new sensor are not in and is still the old ones are mounted, they said to bring it in and they will fix it, I told them I'll be in at 9am on May 6th since I was working 16 hour shift on May 5th and wouldn't be able to make it. May 6th 9am I walk in very upset since is my day off and I have to deal with this, spoke with Travis the assistant manager of the issue told them that I call yesterday and had appointment set up for 9am, well guess what nothing was set up. Travis said he will get me in right away but it will be 30 min before a lift is open and 2 hours for the job to be done, Travis offer us a ride back home are to where of my choice and will provided a ride back.  I figure 2 hours not bad I can go to the local IHOP and take my time and have breakfast with my girlfriend . So Travis got me and my girlfriend a ride to IHOP where we had breakfast,2 hours later I call travis saying I need a ride back thinking is done, ride didn't show up till almost an hour due to pepboys computer issue. We get back to pepboys my wheels was taken off but they haven't started OMG they haven't started time is around 12 noon what they did from 930 to 12 I have no idea. They did not finish till 2 to 230pm I got there at 9am. Travis offer me a free oil change due to their mess up  and I decline in a heartbeat I told Travis I do not wish to ever come back worse experience I ever had so Travis made a phone call and got me $60 credit return, what a joke for them to waste my time for their mistake 5 hours of my day off I got $60. This place is a joke please save yourself the headache and don't come here. read more

I ran over a nail and went there for a tire replacement. They did replace my tire, but damaged my rim. I took the car back and advised a Manager of the damage, and he quickly said there was no way their machine could've done it. I did some Google searches and in fact others have had the same problem/damage. I just filed a complaint with their Corporate, and will file a lawsuit if I have to. read more

Pep Boys in Hasbrouck Heights ... Never again. I made an appointment to get my tires replaced. I had planned on doing my brakes myself and then getting the tires and alignment done. I let the guy talk me into letting them do everything all at once. BIG MISTAKE!!! I dropped the car off at 1PM because ... I had an appointment. I came back at 3PM to find that my car hadn't moved. Told them to either get the car on the lift or give me my keys. They brought the car in and started working on it. First the brakes. 2 hours later, I notice that nobody has worked on my car in over a half hour. "What's going on?" ... "Sorry, we don't have your tires." WHAT?!?!?!? The whole reason I brought the car in there and they never ordered the tires. SO, I paid $800 for a brake job that I could have done myself and I didn't even get the tires that I wanted. The manager promised to call me when the tires came in. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard from him. Also, the brand new rotors are already rusted because they use cheap, uncoated rotors. Do NOT waste your time and money with these people. You WILL regret it. read more

I went in for an oil change and the service was top notch! Very helpful and professional. The wait time was a merely 20 minutes, if that. I was serviced by the tech named Billy, who took my car in as soon as I got there. The place was very clean and looked well maintained. I would definitely recommend this Pep Boys to anybody! The only thing I would say is I would want the waiting room to be bigger. But on the bright side, they do have free Wifi! Never could go wrong with that Thanks Pep Boys! read more

Don't try to save a few bucks and go here, just go to a good place first. I ordered 2 new tires from tire rack. Had them install, balance and alignment. After the car was shaking over 50mph, went back to correct the problem, but they had lost my wheel lock key and ripped through my entire car looking for it. Got black grease on EVERYTHING (all my personal items in the car). They told me to go to the dealer and get a new key and come back to them. I just had the dealer fix the tires, because of their level of incompetence. Pep boys had put the new tires on the back and didn't balance the tires they had moved to the front. The new tires they did balance some weights had already fallen off (in about a week). read more

Tonight I went to Pep Boys in Hasbrouck Heights for new wiper blades, I ALWAYS "shop before I go" so that I can go directly to where I have to, get what I need & get out. Tonight I didn't do that & didn't have my phone with me so I asked for help. The guy tells me the size of my blades (which were wrong btw) for the blades they had "on sale", I do the math in my head, figure I should be spending about 20 something dollars for the blades (for both driver & passenger side) based on the sale. I get to the register they ring up to 30 something dollars. After a big thing & me telling him I didn't want them if they weren't on sale, he goes & gets the ones that are "on sale" & THEY ring up at 40 something dollars....REALLY, clearly YOU'RE dumber than you THINK I am, if I'm not spending $30 something on blades that are NOT on sale why in the world would you think I'd spend over $40 on blades that ARE on sale?? Walked out of the store & went to Walmart, got Rainx blades, driver & passenger side, both for less than $20 combined!! (& didn't have assistance from anyone!) This was only the 2nd time I've been in this store & I doubt they'll be 3rd! read more
