My vehicle's AC is starting to run only intermittently. I contacted my dealership and they didn't have an appointment available same day and wouldn't be able to inspect the car over the Labor Day holiday weekend. I found PepBoys online and saw they did a free AC check. It advertises that their technicians can do a "visual inspection" to determine what might be wrong. I booked the first available appointment which wasn't for over 2 hours. I rushed to pick up my child from school and drove through traffic for half an hour to get to Pep Boys. On arrival, I enter the door and I tell the technician the issue I'm having and he looks at me puzzled and says "yeah the problem is no one is going to look or work on that car". I ask why and he says "because it's a Porsche." I made it clear that I booked an appointment and documented that it was a Porsche and I drove through traffic to get here. His response "yeah well I have one guy going to lunch and the other technician won't look at it." I responded with "in the future if you know your staff won't be able to work on a vehicle, that you should contact the customer so they don't spend time coming here." His response "well we have people that makes appointments that don't show up. Like someone had an appointment this morning and didn't come." So you're going to retaliate against me?!? I'm a first time (and last time customer), a mother who rushed to get her child after school and drove through traffic to ensure I make it to my 4 PM appointment and this is how I'm treated. Sold me a diehard battery and charged $300. 3 cars in bays. I had to wait for more than 1 hour. He told me it would about 30 minutes. The guy who determined what I needed sat there and did not do anything on cars. There were 3 people floating around who did not seem to be doing work on cars. 2 customer walked out the store they were at store way before I arrived there, I asked them how long where they there, I got up and ask how long just to check me in, I was there for over 30 minutes just waiting to be check in, second they make me call a store to verify my road hazard and warranty, they said there system don't communicate between stores, how archaic obsolete or incompetent can a computer system be not to be able to check people's accounts and transactions, it a nationwide store, it's very upsetting and incompetent for pep boys to take so long just to check people in and acknowledge them for service. I had a great experience at this location which is not the closest to my house. You will be amazed at how many car repair and tire places just expect to get your business with you're in a bind. This was not the case or experience for me. I drive a Mercedes Benz GLB 250 and had it serviced at the dealership. I had one tire replaced under warranty and they recommended that I replace the remaining 3 tires and quoted me over 2 thousand dollars. I began calling around and found it hard to get ahold of most places by phone including the Pep Boys on Greenbriar which is much closer to my home. When I called the Sharpstown location I got immediate attention and a quote within 10 minutes. I also got a quote from Discount Tire and Costco but this location was the best and included Alignment. I have the drive flat tires and they did not have them in stock and were able to order them within 2 days. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and took an uber to have lunch and within 2 hours everything was done. The entire time they had 3 techs working on vehicles and 2 clerks working on the front end of the store. My total was $722.00 with alignment which is nearly $500 dollars less the Discount Tire (who does not do alignment) and $1300 less than the dealership. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews. You're not a real adult until you have to fork up the cash to pay for a full set of tires. My opinion has not changed since my last battery replacement. OMG it was almost 4 years ago. The wait was.... Uh... Over 4 days. I came here on Friday afternoon to see if I can get one really quick. But they didn't have it. My old SUV needs a special order from another auto parts dealer. This was not surprised. What surprised me was I didn't remember I came here for the same reason. Gee. Thanks to Yelp. It's been written in my review in January 2018. After waited over 30 minutes past promised time to find out, the battery didn't make it to the delivery truck. Fine. I'll come back on Saturday. So next day, I tried to call but no one answered phone. I guess they were busy. So did I. It was a stormy day. I don't feel like pushing my car in the rain. *minus one star* I came to the shop on Tuesday to confirm if battery was here. Sure enough, it has not arrived yet. Ok they were gonna call and made sure to have it by tomorrow. So I made an appointment for Wednesday. Service consultant Kevin recognized me through my mask. He immediately knew what I was there for. That's good customer service. **plus one star** Part of the store was boarded up and clearance signs all over. Through my Google searches to find out the auto parts retail could be changing to Advanced Auto Parts, like Southern California. We'll see. Update 6/12/21: Dropped to 1 star because I felt cheated. Note to self: DO NOT BRING MY CARS HERE. I receive an email reminder every other day. Then, when I tell the truth about the calendar. It got rejected because they don't like the truth. The salesman lied about "coupons in the calendar" because they were told to say that. I came to this location after my normal spot at Dairy Ashford closed. Saheed the general manager was patient, kind, and very helpful. He is also very understanding and did not push customers to get additional services. He helped me fix my tire at a reasonable cost. The worst experience I've been here 3 times in the last 3 months first time was because my car wasn't starting up properly at all. And I explained that to them and they said they I would have to get a fuel pump change okay no problem. Paid for a 100 dollar diagnostic for what just for them to say they just had to clean the throttle body or whatever. Second time I came the exact same thing but this time my check engine light was on, car wouldn't start up and it was trembling really bad. They said it was the spark plugs and coils ended up paying 780. No problem. Come back maybe a week later cause my car still was having the start up issue and now they said it's the fuel pump that needs to be replaced the guy or the manager gave me a price of 1400 dollars, sat there for almost 3 hours just for them to be like the pieces that they ordered didn't fit like what the hell. Then the guy or manager was like they had to order from a manufacturer and the price is 1900 almost 2000. Like the times that I been here why was this overlooked. I went to this location because it was closest to my house and because I needed my headlight bulb changed. The guy quoted me $420 to change a light bulb on a Hyundai Elantra. I gave him my key so he could go look at my car when he can back he was trying to tell me my drivers side was the one not working and it was my passenger side headlight. He then told me that he recommends I get the earliest appointment possible and arrive at open another day because it's basically first come first serve. So I asked what the point of an appointment was and he said he didn't know and it's getting harder to explain to customers about it. Obviously this is an ongoing issue and it's kind of frustrating that their own employee doesn't have an estimated time for a vehicle to just be looked at with in a reasonable time. Do NOT take you vehicle to PepBoys. I took my vehicle there to get new pads and came out of there with a faulty emergency break. I immediately went back and told them about it and they said they were going to fix it. After picking up the vehicle.again, the damage had not been fixed and I left it there for the third time. I later received a call saying my vehicle would need new drums when initially I was told that the drums were good. They wanted for me to spend more money so they could try to figure out what the problem was. NO way. I will take my vehicle elsewhere to get it properly fixed. Super empty store, great if you don't like being around people. Huge parts store, probably has everything and anything you need. Store was great, however the company "Pep Boys" itself should get a -5 stars for their logistics in delivering parts to other Pep Boys stores with online orders. I'm currently still waiting for an alternator for a Toyota for an order that was placed on October 29. Currently, it is November 16 and the part still hasn't arrived at the service Pep Boys store (since I had it delivered there)[Also said the delivery day was 1 day]. So I decided to do the smart move by placing a new order and having the pick up at this store I'm writing the review about (it said the part is available). Still no answer about where this alternator is. So I took my business elsewhere. What could fix this problem, that is probably prevalent across the nation at all Pep Boys parts stores: create a parts delivery person job that delivers parts daily from the Pep Boys Parts stores to their Service Stores in each area. Pep Boys tries to do everything... parts, tires and mechanical service...like Sears did. The truth is that you can't do everything and doing anything particularly well. That they are still in business is a little surprising. I dropped my car off yesterday afternoon to have the battery checked. There were only a couple of people even in the store. No one was in the waiting area. I expected a call for their analysis but didn't get one. At the end of the day I called them and they had no idea who I was or that they had my car. They hadn't even gotten around to logging me into 'the system'. Logging a customer in at the time of initial contact would seem to a basic of a service operation. Alright, third time is a charm. My car was making a strange noise and my AC went out. I figured that my AC compressor went out (super expensive because the labor is pretty intense), but I wasn't sure what the noise was. Took it into Pepboys for a diagnostic. They charged me $90. Two hours later they let me know that, yes, my ac compressor went out and that they weren't entirely sure where the noise was coming from and that it was probably my brakes. Pepboys told me that I would have to get my AC compressor fixed before they could diagnose the noise. I knew this was BS because mechanics bypass burnt out AC compressors all the time. They quoted me at $3000 to replace the AC compressor and the brakes. I essentially laughed in their face and went elsewhere to get my AC compressor and my serpentine belt (that was the noisemaker) replaced for $1700. Officially never bringing my car back here. They have managed to mess up a tire gauge replacement, an oil change, and a diagnostic. This place is trash, please dont bring your cars here. read more

I visited this location on a Saturday around noon. When I walked in they saw me quickly and even stayed after closing to make sure I was taken care of. From beginning to end the staff stayed in contact with me and even tried to help me find coupons and ways to save. If you ever go here ask for Michael or Winter, they go above and beyond to help.
