I had prior bad experiences with the old manager so I was leery to stop in but I did. I found out there are new managers who really know what they were talking about and they got me in and out AND solved my problem. One star well-earned. The manager is a real piece of work. My brother and I were looking for paint to touch up our wheels today. I thought I'd found the right color so I sprayed a little onto a center cap I brought in to check for consistency. To my surprise the manager (who I can only assume has astronomically high blood pressure) yelled, "YOU'RE BREAKING THE LAW!" from across the store. I don't know about you all, but I generally expect to sample paint before buying without being treated like a criminal. Won't be returning to this establishment. It sounds like you should expect similar service when getting work done. Like another reviewer, I recommend Valley Auto. I usually do my own work, but I went there for a smog the other day and they were friendly, professional, and quick. My experience here has been very hit and miss. Sometimes the service is good, other times it's pretty unsatisfactory. It's the closest shop t where I live, so I often end up using them since it's so convenient - though recently I've started going elsewhere. Some of the staff are very nice and helpful. Others don't seem to care about customer service. I've often had to wait a long time before someone even acknowledged me and told me they'd be with me in a moment. For numerous oil changes I've been told it would take 30-45 minutes (which is already long for an oil change), only to find myself waiting an hour or more. Once, my car had been ready for 10 minutes already - they just hadn't told me. I had to walk up to the counter and ask when it would be finished. Another time I needed new windshield wipers, and they put the wrong size on, which resulted in the wipers not working properly. When I came back, they again put the wrong size on. Finally, I talked to a manager and she was very apologetic and made sure we got the right size, and didn't charge me anything. But it was inconvenient to have to keep coming back due to a simple mistake. Ultimately, if you put pressure on them and ask/demand for better service, they usually comply. Took in my 2009 Mercedes Benz for an oil change I typically take my vehicle to the dealer. This time around I didn't do to the dealer being booked until next week. Took them 2 hours to do my oil change. I commute to work 45 min to an HR depending on traffic. Well I hopped on the freeway literally not long after I had by passers honking at me , flashing their lights pointing at my car not thinking anything of it. I arrived to work. As I was leaving to go to lunch my car had leaked all the oil out my car it was dry I was driving my car with no oil in my car for almost an HR. What type of service is this. I could of blown out my engine. I will definitely will never go to you or any at that to do business and I will definitely being telling friends and family. I'm not done I will be returning tomorrow get my money back and calling corprate. read more

I made an appointment online beforehand for 4:30pm I got to my appointment about 20 minutes early. Was told there was a 40 minute wait due to cars ahead of me ... At 5:30 I ask how much longer would I have to wait. At this time I'm told they are getting my car now and I'd have to wait an additional 45 minutes!! Took my car in for an oil change on Saturday. Drove home to find my car was leaking. Decided to wait and see if the oil leak would stop. Drove my car on Sunday and my car felt unusual. Came home and popped my hood to fine oil everywhere because the maintenance didn't even put the cap back on. Checked the dipstick to find it bone dry. Called Pepboys and asked the manager only to get a clerk. Asked for the manager again...got someone else. I'm only giving Pepboys one star because of Kait...she's awesome....but Pepboys lost my business. read more

This is one of the worst in the area when they refer you to the shop down the street for a flat repair they can not get to for 3 hours! Sounds like terrible staffing and management, I bought my tires here but have to go to Midas to get a repair? Guess I will start with Midas for all of my future needs. Best customer service in a long time! I blew a tire after nailing a curb. The car I have doesn't have a spare (seriously?!) so I needed it towed. My insurance said Pep Boys - seemed ok to me. Kat from Pep Boys called me, got the make and model of my car and gave me info on tires. I actually needed four new ones so she arranged everything. The tow dropped off my car and she called me when it was finished - it could not have been easier!!! And on top of that - the price wasn't as high as originally quoted - I didn't need the alignment. Wonderful service if you like getting none! Purchased tires and warranty last year, got there today at 0745 to get a nail pulled from my tire. Was told it may be a two hour wait and the first available appt was at 1700!!!!! The short : It's an auto parts store that also doubles as a shop. Nothing great nothing bad just what it is. The long: First off I will say I don't get any service work done here because well they are just really proud of their work apparently and you pay for it. That being said there are not a lot of options for auto parts in Lodi and when I need something this is usually my first stop. I have only ran into one or two occasions where they did not have something in stock, but they were able to get it in for me that day. The building itself is kind of old and dingy, but I think this is a theme with PepBoys, and really who cares because it is a parts store. You aren't coming here to eat. The staff moves at about the speed of molasses when it comes to helping customers and they are just about that excited as well. Overall it is an okay parts store and so far the best in town, but it just isn't anything more than that. I called ahead of time to see if they could take me & they said "Sure, show up at 7." Perfect. After a bunch of excuses, I didn't leave until 9. Two hours for an oil change??? I took my car to pepboys to have the AC looked at because it was not working. They diagnosed that we basically needed to replace the entire unit because the air compressor was bad. Pepbys wanted to charge $1750 for the entire thing. I called around and took my vehicle to Joe's Automotive Repair. He was going to do the same job for about $1100. After inspecting my vehicle he figured out the compressor was fine and that we needed a clutch coil. We ended up getting freeon (not sure how to spell) filled and clutch coil replaced for $700. He saved us over $1000. Pepboys was completely wrong about the compressor. Our AC works and is blowing out ice cubes for this hot summer! So happy we got a second opinion. Maybe they are okay for oil changes and brakes. But I would never have them do a major repair to my car. They are expensive and clearly willing to rip you off. I called a ton of different mechanics in Lodi and they were the highest priced out of everyone. Do your research! read more

This is my third or fourth visit to Pep Boys and each time that I have visited I have encountered excellent service. With this last visit I had to go to Sacramento and didn't want to drive my car with my front light out. Although I didn't have an appointment and didn't have a lot of time to wait I was told that because they didn't have the part on hand that was needed for my car that they would put a rush on the part and call me as soon as the part arrived and that regardless of where they are in servicing others they would add me in and fix my light right away. Where to begin? I received three different quotes for the same tires - one the first time I called, another when I called back to schedule the appt, and yet another when I arrived at my appointment - each one was higher than the last. I talked with Kat about it and she made some adjustments that got me closer to the original quote. This included a front-end alignment. I also asked if they could do headlight cover restoration and she said absolutely. My appt was at 1pm and she said they would have plenty of time to get it all done that day since they don't close until 8pm. I got a call from someone else at 5pm who stated they were unable to get to the front end alignment or the headlight restoration. After four hours! I asked why he could not still get it done since they were open for 3 more hours and he said he just had one guy. Did Kat not know that when she said it would be no problem to get it all done? Bad communication - bad service. PS - Jiffy Lube right next store did my headlight cover restoration in about an hour - without an appointment! And they look amazing!!! Cheaper price too! read more

Poor Customer Service! This is my second time walking into this store. Needing help with seat covers and a screw to a rim. Forgot the guys name that I dealt with the first time but he pointed to the seat covers and told me to purchase all the seat covers they carried and try to cover my seats that way the only way he could figure out the size. Today's visit was similar. We asked for help with a screw and Oliver the customer service sales rep stated they didn't carry screws for rims. We were then approached by a gentleman in a long sleeve button down blue T-shirt who actually walked us over to the appropriate direction. When I asked about the wait, I was told it's the "same at a doctor's office","someone called in", "appointments are the same as a 1st come 1st serve" was even told they were so busy that he was gonna have to help the guys in the shop (he didn't). I've ALWAYS had the VERY best experience when coming to the Lodi location. The staff are super friendly & always eager to help.. A local dealer sold me a newer accord with a bad CV boot... I never knew (& yes I'm a female lol) & drove like that for a year! I thought it was how my car was going to drive (yes again I'm a female)... I was terrified to price out the repairs because I knew I did axel damage.. I called my mechanic & a couple other places, but Pep Boys was the most reasonable.. Their willingness to help was pretty cool too... Katrina & Fernando's AMAZING customer service thru a rough time is impeccable! Extremely patient, caring & understanding... Noel being the awesome ninja he is, made my car safe again!! He told me everything that was going on with my car... What I thought I was going to have had replaced like new rotators. He let me know they were good enough, that they just needed to be resurfaced.. Like how cool is that??? An actual shop NOT trying to overcharge a customer??!! The customer service here isn't always great but the last few times I've been here the service has been awesome! Kat has helped me and honestly she makes the difference. Her service is amazing she is both knowledgeable and is all about the customer. One of the cells in my Tahoe battery randomly went out. I made the mistake of calling the Stockton Pep Boys first! Yikes! The Lodi store fit me in and replaced the battery within a few hours. If you want friendly and knowledgeable service, this Pep Boys in the right place for all of your automobile needs. Don't waste your time with the Stockton location. You'll either hear, "We don't have an appointment available" or "We'll have to order that part." When you call Lodi they always have a way to fit you into the schedule. read more

We have got tires on 3 cars here. Best to do research because this Pep Boys never seems to know online prices and they charge more (print your prices out). Once in shop beware they add fees and push services not needed or asked. My latest time (done as service center for me). Was 1/12/2018, made appointment 2pm for car alignment. Sent my son who called saying cost different so service person did find online rotation was free and 89.95 did exist (tried to sell him one year - higher cost). I called my son @ 3:30 he said shop were working on it. 4:30 get call from lady saying had not started work a few cars are in front of us (had set time?) and oh you had an appointment then excuse my tire tread is low so will not rotate, do I still want alignment? Came in for a 10am appointment to have my car inspected and was asked if I was dropping off my car I said no as I was told it would only take 30 minutes. The guy said it's 30 minutes from when we get the car in the shop it will be about 1.5 to 2 hours then he disregarded me for about 15 minutes. He then asked me if I was checked in I said no you disregarded me. He should have known since he was the one I spoke to and he never asked for my name or information. I didn't have my inspection sheet let him know I didn't have a printer he said I could not be seen and there was nothing he could do. Person behind counter at first ignored me then finally came over to complete my transaction ( collect my money). Shitty attitude. Never said thank you or nothing. Me and my fiance were passing thru to get to Sacramento for the Afterschock festival Oct 13 and our spark plugs to our Honda melted and i looked up google maps and pepboys was the nearest. We didn't have any tools on hand and were basically SOL, however here at Pepboys all the staff was amazing, from Kat always asking if we were okay and letting us use the air pressure to Steven helping my Fiance, it was a rough 2 hours but if it wasn't for them i don't think we would have had our car fixed and went to the festival. Horrible service. We came in needing our tire changed out because it was flat and they said we needed a new one. So we got a new one, with a side of attitude from the manager. He said the car would be done in about 20 min, and we came back about an hour after they told us that and the car was still Parked in the parking lot with a flat tire... We lightly complained and thats when they brought the car around. Everyone else was great, we had a problem with the big manager dude with white hair. His attitude is horrible towards customers and he doesn't acknowledge anyone, he had tunnel vision. Not good for business. Words do not describe the lack of professionalism, bad attitude and lack of common sense I experienced the one time I go for "service". I am a technician at a Toyota dealership an we hear stories about this sort of thing but to witness it is truely something else. First of all, the assistant service manager has tire chalk doodles all over his uniform. And had a bad attitude making this situation out to be a joke. Second, the technician threw my parts on the counter in irritation and the "manager" just stood there like it was nothing. I always heard stories about the service department here but I thought I'd try the place out for myself and since my dealership is closed on Sunday I really needed to use a shop. They performed the job incorrectly, they were NOT willing to see their mistake, and NOT professional. If they worked for my service department they would have been fired yesterday. read more
