I made an appointment for this Pep Boys online after seeing an ad for a "$19.99 weekday oil change special." After calling to verify my appointment and tell them I might be a little early, I show up and they take my keys. Everything just seemed very unorganized.. I had to ask them how long it would be, and not knowing that there was no waiting room, wander around until a friend scooped me up. When I came back after 20 minutes just to pick up my phone charger, no one had even started on my car yet. This is all fine and dandy; I know I was early and I would rather wait awhile to ensure that everything is being taken care of. After receiving a call to pick it up 2 hours later, the confusion continued. One of the employees stated, "I don't know which key it is, I'm leaving" and then continued to have a conversation with who I can only assume was the manager about how he needed a raise right in front of me. Had I not said anything they would have charged me full price, seeming to have no idea about anything that happens online. I didn't get a, "this is what we did for you today" and the person at the register was unsure about the fluid levels in my car after I asked if they were checked. I only get an oil change every 5,000 miles and left there feeling really uneasy about what was actual done. I made a comment upon arriving about my tail light being out but Jiffy Lube having a cheaper replacement quote, and they didn't even acknowledge this. Everyone seemed nice enough, but it was all kind of unprofessional. I know this was just an oil change, but isn't this how you build clientele? They very well may do amazing repair work, but I will never know. This is actually the polar opposite of Jiffy Lube, who basically wants to sell you a whole new car. Is there an in-between? I guess I get what you pay for, but I would not pay full price for the same service here again. read more

I came in yesterday at my appointment time and was told to come back tomorrow because the guys were on lunch and they were short staffed. I came back today at my appointment time expecting something different I suppose. It has been 2 and a half hours and my car has not been touched. They currently have 5 cars in the air with one guy working. If you want to see and hear angry customers, trying hanging out in this pep boys waiting area. Seems the service guys have just gotten used to it. This location is turning away customers left and right. This can't go on much longer. Oh, and the response to this post better not be to contact pepboys.com, The fact is that it is too late. You guys need to think about how much business is lost at this location in a day, week, and month. read more

I figure I should write a review because there are so many negative reviews on here. Last fall (2015) I was having a problem with my tire on my van. A tire place in south riding said I had to replace the tire but it would cost me over $100. The tire wasn't that old maybe 6 months. So I research other places and came to this place. They worked on the tire and fixed my tire without having to replace the tire. So thankful! Waiting for it to be done took a while but to me be able to drive my car safely is more important than worrying about waiting. Today I decided I should get my back tire check, it has been getting low for a month. When I went in they only had one person doing the checkin/register in the customer Service area. There were two people before me, and the wait seemed long especially with an autistic child. Supposedly Their computers were acting slower than normal that it why it was taking longer. Luckily when it was my turn the guy let me know that it could take at least two hrs to look at it. I knew it needed to be done. I was very thankful he prewarn me and that it could take longer if there were any appt schedules (mine wasn't scheduled appt). So my child and I walked to chuck e cheese place while we waited. About 2 hrs later I got a call saying it was ready. That is really awesome, I am thankful for them fixing my tire and for the tire rotation. I gave this place 4 stars because of the customer service, it was really slow and their computers were slow. Someone else should of help him if possible. Brought the $19.99 conventional oil change coupon to the store & attempted to check the car in at the front desk. The staff insisted my car took synthetic blend or full synthetic (neither is true per the owner's manual) which I stated wasn't true. The staff stated "we can't put conventional oil in a car when their system calls for synthetic." Now, I've had attempted upcharges at other places too, but this is the first where the staff stated they couldn't comply with the owner's manual, only with "their" database. He went on to say owners of Camrys have been surprised their cars take synthentic (which they don't either). This is a Pep Boys issue but affects this store as well. DO NOT fall into the upcharge nonsense. Check your manual & call ahead prior to wasting your time and/or money. read more

So after horrible experiences with the Midas down the street I decided to give Pep Boys a try. I needed new tires due to TireRack selling me crappy tires (all 4 belts separating in under 2 years...in 20 years of driving I've never had that happen to any tire let alone all 4). So looking online Pep Boys had the tires I wanted at $40 less per tire than Midas. So I placed my order online and set up an appointment for 6pm. I got there at 5 and spoke with them. I asked if they could tell me the tread amounts left on my current tires (for possible warranty refund) and a gentleman came out right then and measured them for me. They took my car back right away even though I was an hour early for my appointment. I was told it would probably be an hour and a half so I went and grabbed dinner and killed some time. I got back about an hour later and sat outside to wait as there doesn't seem to be any kind of lobby to sit in for those waiting (there could've been one in the store side but I didn't go in there). That so far was the only downfall to this place....nowhere to actually wait. Luckily it was a very nice day out so I sat on the curb and killed time. I was able to see my car on the lift. It took a little longer than they said but it wasn't a big deal. Would've been slightly better if there had been chairs to sit in but that's really not a big deal (and there very well could've been a waiting area that I missed). So when they were finished I was able to use their Pep Boys credit card to get 6 months interest free financing on the tires which was awesome as I really did not have it in the budget to replace the tires until the end of the year. They got me checked out fairly fast considering there were some computer issues. My car now rides as if it's on air. The vibrations that I had grown so used to (that I thought were because the car was older) were gone. My car hasn't ridden this nice in years. So I am very pleased. I will try their service department for my next oil change. The only thing I would recommend to them is obviously a waiting area of some kind if there isn't already one there. Not everyone can just drop their car off and come back later. And I would suggest a customer service course. I dealt with Norman at the counter and while he wasn't rude or anything he came across very unhappy to be there. Maybe he was just having a bad day or something but it's a little uncomfortable when a customer can tell you're miserable. Dealing with customers you fake being upbeat. It's a part of the job. But everyone else I spoke with was very nice and personable so one person not being that way isn't a big deal to me unless they're always like that. Total cost for 4 new tires, road hazard protection and installation was just over $500. At Midas it would've been $700. I'm pleased with the work they performed, the pricing and that they were able to get the car in earlier than the scheduled appointment. I will be back. read more

I was the first in line at 8am to drop my car off and I informed the service man that I was traveling to California in a few days. They pulled my car right in and a hour and a half later I had a full preview of everything I needed to address to make my trip safely to the West Coast. I returned later that evening to pick up my car and the Pep Boys Rep Quintis was essential in and greatly helpful in retrieving my vehicle and getting me back on the road. I have to tell you that my vehicle drives like a brand new car so much that I was compelled to call pep boys and let them know how impressed I was with their level of service. I had a good experience. Brought my car in for a blown tire, fixed and done within half an hour. Now for the one star, that's mainly the customer service. I ordered Saturday and they said it might be in Sunday and they would call. I got no call, so I called. They said it was in transit and should be in Monday and that they would call when it came in. I waited Monday and called around 4, they said it was in. Ok, maybe they forgot to call. Anyway, install went fine, they lost my tire cap, no problem they replaced it. I feel like they could probably do with some extra help to get calls done. Busy shop. But that's how they keep prices down. I would recommend. After 3 days of my car not starting and having to ask people to jump it, I went to Pep Boys. They tested my battery and advised that I needed a new battery. They were speedy, courteous and were able to help me find the best battery in my price range. I was in and out in less than an hour (and also had my wipers changed). I had wonderful service at this location. I stopped for an oil change on my way traveling through Virginia. Quintas arranged for my car to be serviced immediately, and Ortega agreed to stay late so that I wouldn't be inconvenienced with too long of a wait time. Even though Ortega knew that I was passing through, and unlikely to return for additional auto service, he went out of his way to identify a dangerous break down in my engine, encouraging me to get it looked at when I get back home. I had two positive experiences at this shop. A month ago, I went there and explained to them a particular issue with my vehicle. They didn't give me the run around and told me right away that they're unable fix it and that I had to go to the dealer because the problem was electrical and they didn't have the right systems to fix it. I appreciated the quick honesty because in the past, I've been at shops where they would tell me that AFTER they "look" at my car and then charge me money anyway. Tonight, I got four new tires. The price was fair and the service was excellent. They were quick and thorough. I was even kept up to date on something about midway through the job. Both staff members who helped me (Kevin and the technician who installed my tires) were professional, helpful, and very courteous. I would definitely come back here for sure. read more

After seeing my battery light come on the night before, I regrettably decide to stop by fearing that my alternator may be kaput. I make an online reservation for the next day and when I arrive no less than three people come out to my van to take a look. Each person advises my to try a different technique before deciding to have it repaired. The last gentleman (did not catch his name) came out and tested the battery. He said it was good, but then he noticed that the negative and positive battery cables were very loose. He smiled and quickly tightened them for me. He said, "no reason to replace anything and spend a lot of money." I really appreciated his advice and concern. Plus, his actions worked. I'll be back. read more

What a joke this pepboys is..My car recently had the AC compressor go up in smoke, so I went to pep boys on July 20th to order the part and get my car set up for service.. Unfortunately their AC service machine would be down for a week and a half, so I'd have to call to see if it was up to bring it in.Fine.. So I preorder the AC compressor (paid in full) on July 20th so it will be available for install as soon as the AC service machine is fixed.. I'm told there's a 3-5 day lead time on the part getting ordered. No big deal. Fast Forward 3 weeks and I haven't heard about my part, so I call the service center whom has no idea what I'm even talking about. Finally after about 20 minutes on the phone getting passed to 4 different people someone finally understands what's going on and says "yes the part is here." So I show up that Friday night and drop off my car, to which they say, "We'll get to it Tonight or Tomorrow morning it should be done Tomorrow (saturday)."Saturday comes and goes.. Sunday.. Comes and goes... Monday I finally call and ask what the deal is, and they tell me that they haven't even looked at my car yet.So I call pepboy's corporate line to complain about this and they open a case. So today (Tuesday 8/7/2012) I get a call from the service manager whom left a message that says, "The reason we haven't started on your car is because we needed to order the Compressor and there's a 3-5 day lead time on that." About 15 minutes later I get a second call from someone else whom works there that says that "the service manager took a look at the car and because you've got the old style air conditioning system we don't have the tools to work on it." That's fine, I can accept that pepboys can't service the old R12 ac systems.. Although it would have been nice to know that on SATURDAY so I could find someone who can and have the car dropped off. I went to pep boys and the service manager said he made a mistake and my part was in.. Nice of him to call back to let me know that, and then explained what was going on with the AC system. Again.. I'm fine that they can't service the car due to the difference in the gases, but to have to wait 4 days for someone to so much as glance at the car and tell me they can't do it is an absolute joke. The service at this place is horrible! I will never SHOP at pepboys again much less bring my car in for service. It also doesn't surprise me that as I was waiting to talk to the service manager someone had returned after having pepboys fix their flat tire last night because they woke up this morning and the tire that was "fixed" was flat. I was at another auto shop for oil change and state inspection which they failed me and said that I needed new brakes and rotor shaving. I accepted their diagnosis but felt that their pricing was extremely high. I called PepBoys and explained my situation and they quoted me a price with a difference of $180.00. Technician named Quintis was courteous and patient enough to explain exactly what was being done to my vehicle and what would most likely be needed over the next few months. That's the service I expect, when service is rendered this way the client can make a decision that's best for his/her safety and pocket vice feeling you have no other options when told you have to fix items at OUR price. I have had the absolute worst service here. I walk in to get my tire changed, and of course they claimed that all of my tires needed to be changed, however my car has just been through inspection, so I am fully aware that only one of my tires was problematic. If this was the only problem, I would have still left a nice review, as I generally expect this from any mechanic. After they tried to up sell me, they continued pressuring me to get additional services I did not need. I waited for about 2 and 1/2 hours, only to be told they didn't have the tire I wanted, even though they said they had two in stock. The man on the phone proceeded to try to up sell me to the most expensive tire option as the "only thing they had," as well as reiterating my car's alignment is off, which, again, I know is not a problem. I then informed him that I would wait until they had the tire in stock, or take my business elsewhere, which he responded by hanging up with me. After speaking with management, I was price matched the lower option, and told that if the manager had spoken to me, he would have offered it to me then. I only wish his employees had the same sense of customer service! read more

Always seem to have what you want but the wait in service is crazy. The one poor guy is there with a line of customers out the door. Feel horrible for him as everyone is giving him death stares. All the employees are very friendly. I've been coming there for close to 20 years. Wish I didn't just do the math because I now I feel very old. Pep boys parts and services. Horrible planing and customer service. I made an appointment for a simple rotor turn. The job was suppose to take 1 hour. The appointment was for 2 pm, upon arriving the service counter told me they are running behind. I was told that I needed to wait for one hour for a tech. to finish up a job he was currently working on, then my truck will be pulled in and the job to be completed in about an hour. Two hours later I return to find my vehicles was still in the parking lot. I ask the counter the status of my vehicle. I dont know is what I was told, let me check. The ticket was not in the correct place, so the techs never even started. I was told to wait again for another hour. After I told the tech to stop working on vehicles that came in after mine. So finally after 4 hours my vehicle was completed. would not recommend the services of PEP BOYS. read more

I purchased new wheels and tires from the pepboys in manassas store 0162. I was getting a really bad shaking and rough ride at 50-60MPH. I took my truck back in to get the tires balanced the tech stated the wheels they sold me where out of round and that was my issue. I've only had these wheels for 2 months so I asked the manager to order me two more wheels to take care of this since they have a warranty thru ATD (AMERICAN TIRE) the manager then got nasty with me and didn't want to help me. I got ahold of the area director JC Cleveland and he stated he wasn't gonna help me out that I was out of $1700. I don't want a refund I want my brand new truck to drive like a Brand new truck should. So I'm writing this to let you know don't take your vehicle to pepboys in manassas they will take your money and not care for you or your vehicle. It's sad that you can't count on the big name companies to take care of our vehicles. Stay away. read more

I brought my car in today for a new axle Pep Boys determined the boots were shot on the old one when putting new tires on my car the other day. I called around to a few places and they were less expensive than the competition so I decided it would be good to give them a try. I dropped the car off at 8:00 and the service was completed as requested at noon. I found them both friendly and willing to explain to me what was needed and why. Although it was probably clear to them that I don't know a thing about cars, they answered my questions without making me feel like an idiot. Everything seemed ok, until I was about 2 miles from the shop. I stopped at a red light and when the light turned green, my car wouldn't move. I immediately called Pep Boys and a tow was arranged. The manager brought a mechanic with him to where my car was sitting. The manager drove me back to work while the mechanic waited for the tow truck. The problem was that a connection has not been secure and was fixed quickly. When the work was complete, the car was driven back to my office and the manager apologized again, gave me his card and refunded my repair. Mistakes can be made, but what impressed me was the incredible response I received after the problem occurred. The manager took ownership of the problem and oversaw the 2nd repair. He then tested everything and left me with confidence that they stand behind their work. read more

Early in the morning as I was headed to work my car's battery light came on. Instantly I thought it was the battery or the alternator. I made my way to Pep Boys in Manassas, VA. The technician checked my battery, my alternator, and the hose. Everything was fine and although he felt that the alternator was a little low, it was still OK by the book. Shortly after I left Pep Boys and made my way to Alexandria, VA the car's battery light came on. I didn't think anything of it because I just had it checked out and thought there might be a short in the battery light. After work I noticed that the battery light was still on when I started the car. I was still thinking that there was a short in the battery light but decided to drop back by Pep Boys to have them check it out. The technician on duty that night was William Jackson. He tested the battery and the alternator. By that time the alternator wasn't generating any power. This is such a praise to the Lord because I drove from Alexandria to Manassas with the battery light on the whole way. William Jackson did an excellent job replacing the alternator. Another praise to the Lord is the manager on duty that night, Quintis. If he had not been there I wouldn't have been able to have my car worked on that night but most likely would be expected to bring it by the next morning. This would have been a great hassle because I live in Culpeper. As William Jackson was replacing my alternator he had the hood of my car propped up by a vice grip because the hydraulic lifts were worn out. I went in to the store to see if they sold that tool but didn't find one. I picked out a wrench but was told by William and Quintis that it wouldn't work. So I asked William where he got the vice grip he used and he told me. I was planning to go by there and pick one up for my car when Quintis asked me why I didn't just replace the lifts. After all, they were only $20. So I agreed and they replaced the lifts. As I was checking out, this was after closing, Quintis gave me a discount which more than paid for the lifts. Praise the Lord! I highly recommend Pep Boys. read more

Brought my car in with a slow leak after getting 4 new tires from them two weeks ago. They took it right away and found out it was a small rim crack. They sealed it and rebeeded it and had me on my way in 15 minutes - for free. Couldn't have asked for better service. read more

I am 9 months pregnant. Came in with my 5 year old and 12 month old, after our tire blew and I just got some used tires up the street. explained to the guy how bad my wheel shook and my story. I was quoted about a 2 hour wait period. I came back around closing and waited in the waiting room just to be handed my keys at 9pm on the dot and NOTHING was done. I WASTED FOUR hours of my time. I could have used that to go elsewhere. When I asked why I wasted four hours of my time I was told "no one wants hours or over time".... After this happened, I told some friends who also had bad experiences with this location. On top of the fact the waiting room is dirty, and the bathroom was dirty with no tp. read more

Last time I will be coming to this pep boys. I have been coming to this pep boys for about 3 years now since I live right around the corner. I stopped in on a Friday night to order tires and set up an appointment for the following Monday morning right at open since I have a tight work schedule. When I talked with an associate on Friday night I told them I was just looking for the CHEAPEST tires they had for my make/ model. I drive a 2014 sports car so I know tires don't come cheap, I get a quote for right around $1100. I have owned sports cars in the past so I was not surprised by the price and set up the appointment. I arrive Monday morning for an 8:00am appointment to the door being locked until about 8:10am. When they finally open the door I'm told that the tires that were ordered on Friday were not the right ones for my car and I would need to wait for them to ship again (not same day) or go with a different brand. Already asking for the cheapest tire I'm expecting to now have to pay more or wait. The guy then tells me if I want to go with a different brand it would be $300 cheaper and they had them in stock. ARE YOU KIDDING! I asked for the cheapest ones they had on Friday and now Monday morning I'm told they tried taking me for an extra $300. After not being offered a discount other than just going with the cheaper tire I should have been offered Friday, I made an appointment for Tuesday since at this point it was about 9:15am and nothing was done, I had to get to work. Now I'm back here on Tuesday morning where it's 9:01am after having an 8:00am appointment and in being told by an assistant manager that the general manager closed all the bay's for some inspection and they will start on it right away. I'm about to grab my keys and go to NTB across the street when I get time next week. This place is a complete joke. Just lost a loyal customer. Upgraded from 1 to 2 starts because I ended up having them finish the car, didn't leave until after 10:30am. Price came in $150 lower then quoted on Monday by the manager Josue. They took some money off the tires and the alignment. Still will be looking for another shop for tires for my other vehicles but it's nice they acknowledged they made a mistake. read more

they tried to make me pay way more money than it really cost to get the radiator and thermostat fixed $500+ when the radiator is coverd in my warranty they said it was in a tricky spot when it is actually located in the front of the car 2010 Nissan Maxima I felt like they tried to pull a fast one on me so I took it somewhere else and got it done for $300 cheaper and it was the same type of work I will never go to pepboys again read more

This place is awful. I recently moved to manassas and desperately needed an oil change. A coworker said that this place offers coupons all the time, and since I refuse to go to jiffy lube for the over priced oil changes, I took the bait. I made an appt online for noon. When I make an appt, I expect my car in that bay at noon. It didn't go in until 1pm, and was not done until 2. Not only that, but the coupon was for a tire rotation, and when I double checked to make sure it was done, the dude at check out didn't know if it was done. It was on the coupon, AND on my reservation request. He goes `well if you want to wait, the mechanic just went to lunch, he can do it when he gets back`. I got so pissed, I told him to give my keys I wasn't waiting another 2 damn hours for a 15 minute job. They are very unorganized and don't know their asses from holes in the ground. I took my car here for a basic oil change which took 2 HOURS and 10 minutes, they were also supposed to install my windsheild wipers but when I got into my car to leave they were still on the passenger seat. After going back inside and asking for someone to install them, an employee with a horrible attitude came out and put them on. Finally on my way home I realized they didn't bother to reset the oil life guage either. Their customer service is appalling and I've never seen slower or sloppier work. Mark your value stems when getting tires, they charged me but didn't replace them. When I called them out they credited me for the stems only. If they fail I will have to pay someone to replace them when they should have done what I paid for. Filed a formal complaint with Customer Service, they are not helpful at all. read more

I purchased 4 tires online and scheduled an appointment for 10am to have them installed. Upon check in, I was told it would take an hour and a half to complete. I had my infant with me and it was much too hot to wait in the waiting area so we walked to a nearby restaurant to wait. I received a phone call at 11:17am, well over an hour after my appointment time. I assumed they were telling me my car was ready for pick up. I was informed that they "just realized" that the tires I ordered hadn't arrived. So- not only were they not finished, they hadn't even begun. I was told they could install a different set of tires because the ones I ordered were warehouse only. I quickly walked back to the store and asked to speak with the manager who offered no apology. He just told me they had people in front of me and they were checking people out, that's the reason that it took them well over an hour to realize my tires weren't even in store. I agreed to the cheaper tires simply because I needed them done. I waited another 45 minutes in the filthy waiting lounge. After leaving, I called the area manager whose name and number is posted on the front counter. I got his voicemail and left a message a week ago, still haven't heard back. My family won't be spending money here again. read more

DO NOT GO - WASTE OF TIME AND RUDE! Day 1: I scheduled a Maintenance online on Pep boys website . When I arrived for the scheduled appt the man at the counter told me they could not take any more appts and that the website didnt know what their schedule was in the store, so it didnt matter. I even came 30 mins earlier as a courtesy. I asked when I should come back and he said "well we open tomorrow at 9am" -_-. Day 2: The issues I was worried about happend. Unfortunately I was about 1 mile from the pepboys, so they were first option to drop car off at. I dropped the car off and had someone pick me. The car was there all day since 8am and no one called me. So around 3pm I called and the manager told me the caliper had slipped off and they had replaced a bolt for me. They had accidentally fixed the problem he said and the car was good and driving good. GREAT! I thought. I asked since it was still there would there be time for them to do an alignment and he manager said yes they would do it. When I got there to pick the car up they didn't have the specs from the alignment for me, so I asked for them. They made me pay for alignment and inspection even though I wasn't sure they did the alignment since there were no specs. The man asked me to call back tomorrow to speak w/ the manager. I drove the car a mile up the road and my brakes gave out again just like they did the morning I brought the car in. I had to get the car towed to another repair shop who let me know the car needed new calipers.... as well as a few other issues. The car is still there getting repaired. Day 3: I call back again- Spoke to somebody who kept putting me on hold. He said the alignment was not done and they could do it, guarantee it and give me a 10% discount on repairs, Or just get a refund. I wanted the refund. When i went to go get the refund the man was very rude and matter of fact. Telling me that no good deed goes unpunished. I would have appreciated good service and actually business instead of good deeds. If I pay for work, Id like to have that done and then Mechanics suggestion on whatever else needs to be done. Absolutely horrid customer service experience. I was running late and knew I was pushing the clock in order to get in for an oil change before Pep Boys were to close. I called just after 7 PM to find the latest I could get in before it was too late for service. I new they closed at 9 PM and I asked what time I should get in. The attendant in "customer service" said, "we close at 9 o'clock". Knowing oil changes don't take that long I asked if 830 was to late. He said, "that's OK". I arrived at 820 PM, walk in the door. There is an African American with a mustash in a Pep Boys uniform leaning on the desk browsing at a paper. He doesn't look up until I clear my thorough. I tell him I need an oil change and he says, it's too late for that. I told him I called in and asked what the latest time I could come in. I stated that I asked if 930 was a good time and the answer was that it was OK. He said, I talked to you and I didn't say that. That was a lie plain and simple, I would have never made the trip if that were true. The gentleman was passive aggressive and I have never been as disenchanted with a business as I am with this franchise. The crazy thing is that this was just the end of the day. When I tried to call in I was not able to get anyone in the service department to pick up the phone when I was trying to find a good time to come in. I was on hold for ten minutes and then I hung up and called the front desk. That individual sent the call to the service desk and walked out to ask someone to pick up the line. Looking back this may have been why the representative played his game. He very well could have been flustered over having to answer the phone. I don't know what the deal is with this company but I hope that enough people speak up and some serious changes are made. read more

Had a good experience at Pep Boys in Manassas. Had stopped there to pick-up a part for, what I thought, was a simple repair I could do myself in five or ten minutes. After I spent upwards of an hour failing at the repair, I asked for help from the service folks at Pep Boys. I was grateful when, after five minutes of attempting the repair in the parking lot, the guy asked to pull the car into the service bay "where he had more tools and could better get to the part"--if he'd have fixed it in three minutes I'd have felt like an idiot; I retreated to the waiting area and fired-up the iPad and connected to the free Wifi. After twenty minutes, I felt validated that asking for help was the right thing. But after 45 minutes I started to get concerned; I hadn't seen an hourly-rate posted but I know some garages charge $60 to $120 an hour, and I started to wonder if I was going to escape with only a $30 or $40 charge, and wondering how I'd react if told that hour was going to cost $120. A few minutes later the guy came back and told me the part was replaced and the car was ready, but that they were indeed going to have to charge me for the installation. "How much," I asked tentatively, bracing myself for the worst. He shuffled some papers, poked a few keys on the terminal, and replied "$9.99." Whew! Pep Boys earned a repeat customer today. read more

Our truck had a bad air intake sensor & we were on our way out of town, the service manager Ben was great! He told us where we could go buy this auto part since Pep boys did not have it in stock. My experience with this local pep boys was an absolute nightmare!! The staff was rude and completely incompetent. I had them repair damage which I ran through insurance. The adjuster cut them a check on the spot but when I picked my car up, there was no mention this occured. Fast forward two weeks, I find this out from the adjuster and he says he gave the check to the manager. The check ended up being out in the open amongst other paperwork, unsealed. To make matters worse, the manager says they can't sign off on the check. There's much more that occurred but felt this was enough to say to turn off others. My recommendation is to go to a local mechanic bc situations like this won't happen. Their lucky I'm even giving them 1 star!! read more
