I had replaced shocks, struts and sway bars on my 2001 Mazda Tribute. The work was done by Striblings Service in Bealeton who are excellent mechanics. No fancy waiting room for customers but they are very reasonable. I had read that you are supposed to get an alignment after replacing shocks and struts and was thinking about it when I heard a clunking sound about about a week later. I stopped by Pep Boys to ask if they could look and see the cause of the clunking sound. He told me that a suspension inspection is $35 but suggested that I get an alignment $99 where the inspection would be complimentary. They started on my vehicle at the scheduled appointment time and did not take very long to perform the service. The noise turned out to be a loose sway bar and there was no charge for that. Victor and Jeff handled the service and were very attentive and helpful. Elmer was the technician. So l was able to successfully accomplish both on their recommendation. read more

I spent over 2200.00 in June to have my car repaired, after numerous times of coming back and fourth for the SAME issues! They told me the parts are warranted anymore cause I went over 12,000 miles, mind you I was only at 12,953! They never resolved my car issue after I repeatedly keep taking it back cause the technicians didn't do it right. I've been there due to them putting a "defective" part on my car, they've replaced my belt numerous times cause they couldn't get it right! How is it my fault they didn't do the proper work yet they wanna penalize me for the over 2200 I paid not even a year later and the car still didn't get fixed right!!!!? They we're wring to think I'd give them ANYMORE of my business! The repairs were only 8 months old, didn't even last a year yet they wanna tell me they can't warranty my parts cause I was 953 miles over?!?!! There was a lack of communication to me during the entire experience. I was put on hold for a total of over an hour throughout the day. Man, I havent caught many breaks recently, and this COVID 19 thing has brought me to my knees financially and to add a cherry on top my car broke down. When I stepped into Pep Boys yesterday I was ready to be bombarded with unhelpful staff and sky high prices. To my surprise I was met by the opposite. Norman was the desk associate that helped me through my whole car repair process. He made sure he knew exactly what I needed and worked with me to get me there. Chris was my service tech and I was blown away by his patience and understanding. My team of both Norman and Chris got me out of there happier than I've been since this COVID stuff started. I arrived 10 minutes early and noticed my car still sitting in the same spot at 7:30pm I then went back to the counter and saw my keys still sitting on the counter I asked why my keys were not in an envelope yet because I had an appointment. Finally printed out the information and said my car would be next. I understand if you are running behind but let your customers know, it is now almost 8:30pm and my car is still sitting in the same spot. They close at 8:00pm by the way. This review is based on my experience today, I had 4 tires installed today. The price was by far the best from any place including online, that was one deciding factor. The people at the counter were friendly. The installer did a good job and took his time and made sure he got everything right. I am pretty particular when it comes to people messing with my cars. Most places guys are gung ho with their air guns and don't really give a crap. My biggest pet peave is people using air guns to put the wheels on the car. In the past I have had people strip bolts (Piedmont Tire in Gainesville) , forget to tighten bolts (Gainesville Goodyear), people put bolts on so tight that you need to use a 6 foot extender on the breaker bar to loosen them (can't remember the place). What I saw my installer do was hand tighten each bolt before using a torque stick on his air gun. While I am not completely sold on a torque sticks they are better than nothing. I still will use a torque wrench myself just to make sure each bolt is equally tightened to specs to prevent rotor warping. People need to recognize what pep boys can and can't do. Tires, brakes, and bolt on mufflers are probably fine. Complicated things should best be left to someone who specializes in working on the type of car you have. read more

After spending over $2,000 on new tires, brakes, rotors, and shocks, I went back over 7 times cause my front tire was making a noise and I just found out from another certified mechanic that the weights were too much and the placement was incorrect and on top of that the caliber was hitting my new rims. The mechanic was giving me attitude when I came in, it's not my fault! Just wish they knew what they were doing! It's better to just do it correctly the first time! Their process were half the price the dealer was talking about so it was a no brainier for me. Dropped my car off and took my kid to Chuck e cheese next door. I had an appointment at 3pm for a change of 4 tires. I arrived at 245pm to check in. I sat down in the waiting area and waited. Completely lost track of time and realize it was about 410 when Erick ? I believe was his name came to ask me where the tire lock key was ? I was so confused, but I went ahead and tried to find the key for him. When I came back to sit down I realize it had been 1 hour and 20 minutes of my car just sitting. I am customer services oriente and I understand if the place was packed or whatever the inconvenience could be I understand. BUT the whole time maybe 2 more people where here. I sat down from 250pm to about 426pm for the gentleman Erick to tell me that my car was going to be ready in about 30 minutes ? Meaning I would be leaving the shop around 5pm Are you kidding me. I had to get up and ask for a manager because clearly no one was apologetic of the time I had lost just sitting here doing absolutely nothing. Jimmie actually quite helpful for allowing me to express my concerns. He even offered me a drink which was very nice of him but could not give me back the time lost. I recently purchased 4 new tires for my vehicle. Since I had good experience with Pep Boys in Woodbridge, I looked online and purchased 4 new Hankook tires for my Jeep. Unfortunately the only store that would get them in was the one over in Manassas, approximately 10 Miles away. Not far, and I really liked the reviews on the tires. I took the deal and scheduled my appointment. They were all very nice inside, and told me that it would take about 2 hours to put them on and do the service. A rep would contact me by text when it was completed. As I was leaving I noticed a sign on top of 4 tires to the left of the door and another in the service area both saying "No interest for 12 months on ANY purchase of $499 or more if using their card". I asked the rep if that applied and he said of course! The rep called me about 2 hours later and I came back to pick up my vehicle. The Jeep was out front and ready to go. I went in and that is when the problem arose. When the rep rang up my invoice, I noticed on the signing pad that it was showing 6 months no interest. When I asked, I was informed that the signs were old and not available for this transaction. He then came around the counter to show me that the signage said 5/28/17-7/2/17. I was at the location in Manassas on 6/11/18. I was then told that there was nothing that could be done and if I wanted to have my car back I had to pay with the 6 months or another charge card. I had no other card on me at that time so I had to agree to the 6 months. This is not the way a business should be run, I've contacted the District manager Jason Rosario, he only offered me to pay the interest if I should go over the 6 months! I'm sorry but I don't trust that they would do that should I go over the 6 months. They haven't been trustworthy since they are putting up signs that are incorrect and misleading. Sexist and incompetent. Over the phone when I asked if they would help install a battery they said, "Oh maybe you have a boyfriend." I should have just gone elsewhere. Then when I was trying to take the old one out the bolt broke on the housing. Their service department said they would change the battery for $15. When I came to pick up my truck they had changed the terminal and the new battery was still sitting on my driver's seat. We waited in line for 30 minutes with 3 kids to find out they hadn't done what we paid them to do. The assistant manager was totally unapologetic and didn't offer anything despite us then having to wait another 15 minutes with the kids. Then we had to remind them to give us back our $15 turning in the old battery. read more

Went to Pep Boys because my mechanic was pretty much booked for the week. I had driven to the airport, and when I turned on my a/c, my temperature was going up. I figured this was the radiator fan needing to be replaced. I walked in without an appointment, told them what happened, and asked for a glance over. They were upfront with the cost, and asked if I was dropping off. I said yes. Two hours later, they called and confirmed my radiator fan indeed needed replaced. They quoted both the labor, having to call in the part and the part price, and estimated the time to be fixed. I told them to go ahead, as I was at work and wouldn't be able to pick up until tomorrow. When I picked up, I was charged what quoted (no extra fees), shown the new radiator fan (I asked them to show me the position), and my car has been fine since. I was very specific as to what I needed, did my research, and they handled the rest. read more

Unfortunately I bought a set of tires from poop boys,when I took it in for a tire rotation I was informed that a couple lug nuts we're stripped & the posts would need replacing. I talked with the then manager and was told everything would be ready ( having the parts needed) and the service mgr would be brought up to speed for my appt. I arrived early8 AM to find out that the svc mgr had not a clue but he assured me my car would be ready by 2 and he would keep me posted. At 12 I called to check on it and was assured that they were working on my car @ 2 I phoned again and was told they JUST found out which parts to order. I got a call at 6 pm to come get my car which was supposed to be ready by 2. So today I took it back for the next tire rotation and guess what 2 stripped lug nuts & I need 2 posts replaced this time it was done quickly but you have to wonder if they r that incompetent. The SAME service tech each time. I think I'll remove the tires and see if the posts were really changed If I didn't have a service agreement for free balance & rotation I would never go near that place STAY AWAY read more

Being my first yelp review, I'd like to say I decided to yelp solely because this service was so excellent. I came in for a tire repair, called around 5:30 on a Sunday evening (they close at 6pm) and was welcomed to stop by and get my tire patched. I got there and they went to work right away. The guy who was working on my tire had to remove it from the rim because I had used a sealant that goes on the inside of the tire to get it patched temporarily, and I assume that made it difficult to find the hole. He spent a good 10-15 minutes working hard to find the hole and patched it up. I have gone to this Pep Boys in the past and always felt like they did really well, but this visit surpassed all other visits and I'm really thankful that they put a lot of work into helping me, stayed late to take care of my car, and were all friendly. read more

I could have done it faster myself. After 4 hours, and $900 worth of work (300 of which is for "labor"), I can safely say I will never, ever set foot in another pep boys for the remainder of my life. I went in for a simple tire replacement and somehow managed to have an experience that equated to spending 4 hours in hell. In addition to everyone moving at the slowest pace I've ever seen, the counter people continued to tell me my car was "almost done". "Almost done", does not mean you get to say "almost done" for 1.5 hours. Additionally, $300 in labor is incredibly obnoxious considering they're all moving like they're 89 year olds who forgot to take the molasses out of their ass. Lastly, their waiting area is a disgusting mess. The keurig needs to be replaced, the table is filthy, and the area in general is in desperate need of an update. I have always had good experiences at this Pep Boys! I always come here when I need my tires to be replaced/rotated. Years ago, I bought new tires and within a few weeks had a flat (we had construction done on our deck and the men doing the job threw the nails into our gravel driveway), which they took care of under warranty with no issues whatsoever. Then it happened again. Pep Boys did not give me any problems in replacing/repairing these tires, and that's what did it for me. They are friendly, prompt and helpful. The only reason I'm giving them four stars instead of five is that I can never understand them on the phone. I'd definitely recommend this place. Edit:I am going to have to bump down the rating. I had previously brought it up to a five because I really liked it, even though the phone service has always been a little hit or miss. I had a horrible experience last time I dropped off my car (they pretty much forgot about my car), but I had decided to let it pass-- they did discount the visit for my trouble. Unfortunately, I felt the service this time around was also unsatisfactory. I made an appointment over the phone for 11:00 and brought my car in at that time. I spent all day looking at wedding venue options and was expecting to be able to pick up my car on the way home. We stopped off at Pep Boys at around 5 to 5:30 and, while the left turn signal light had been replaced, the main reason I had dropped off my car was to have the door handle fixed, and they had not even taken a look at that yet. So, after six hours, they had not even bothered to check my vehicle, let alone repair it. I would not be upset if I had just dropped it off-- Saturdays are busy. But I had made an appointment. The point of making an appointment is so that services can be rendered in a timely manner. I made an appointment, dropped my car off on time, and gave them six hours-- they should have at least looked it over. I do like this Pep Boys, but I would not recommend making appointments over the phone (I am not sure if the guy had even entered me into the system as an appointment, which would explain why I was put off until the end of the day)-- they offer online appointments, and that would be the best way to go. I would also be wary if I needed something done quickly. I will still give it another chance because the people there are friendly and it is fairly inexpensive compared to other local places, but-- overall-- I would no longer recommend this Pep Boys to a friend. read more

I would never return to this pep boys if it was the only repair shop around, they are THAT bad. My check engine light was on and I could no longer ignore it so I called them to check if they could look at it and potentially give a diagnosis and gave them the error code my computer was reading. They said they likely could and to come down, this seemed convenient since that would allow my car to be fixed on Sunday when most other shops are closed. I head straight down, first thing I'm told is "you can't be seen today" after asking for the person that answered the phone and told me I'd be seen a guy grabs a code reader and says we can go look at it. I say, the code is X and says X" and I'm told "ok but we need a little more information." After he goes and reads the code he then says precisely what I just told him back to me and says he'll need to discuss with a mechanic. After making me wait about 5-10 minutes he comes back and says "it's likely X" (which is what I already knew per some easy to do google searches of the error code) and that someone can look at it on Monday because the guy leaves at 5 and already has 3 appointments ahead of me. NEVERMIND the fact that online it says they're open until 8. When I say that I was told I'd be able to have someone look at my car today the idiot looks at me and says "I did look at your car"...right you told me what I told you when I called with the problem and less than what I already found in 2 minutes of google searches. So they have 1 mechanic working on Saturday and as a result they lost about 4-5 customers that came in but couldn't be seen because they were already full for the day with 3 hours left until the mechanic headed out for the day. Here's some free advice to Pep Boys, hire more mechanics so that you can meet demand, don't lie about your availability, and stay open the hours your web-site says. read more

The counterperson then said his mechanics were too hungry to do the work and that he should make an appointment online. He proceeded to do just that and received a quote for $576.15 and an appointment for 2:00 p.m. Monday. We showed up together to wait for our tires to be put on and were told they were too busy and that we should "come back tomorrow." Pep Boys is a complete waste of time and effort. I made an "appointment" online to have tires installed that were listed as instock at this store. I haven't heard great things about pep boys before, but I thought that they wouldn't be able to mess this up too badly. I showed up for my appointment and was told that it would be a couple hours. I walked to a nearby store for a little while, then checked in after an hour and a half. I was then told that they didn't have the tires in stock. When I got back to pep boys they didn't offer any good solutions so I had them put my old tires back on. After waiting a few minutes to get my car back,. I noticed that they had put the old tires on incorrectly, so I had to wait another 20 minutes to be able to leave. Please don't give this place any business! read more

If you want red carpet "four seasons" tuxedo service for your Lamborghini, with a nice waiting area and free drinks, avoid going here. These guys are probably not the best. However, if you want what is probably the best *value* in town, or want to avoid mechanics *who randomly replace stuff just to get more parts and labor* (yes, I've seen this), go here. We got an estimate for over $1900 from one shop. We took it here, thinking that perhaps they could do the job for less. From word of mouth, I was told Jazz is the best mechanic here, but Mike worked on the car, and I am very happy. The main people who dealt with us were Eric and Cornelius. Not only were they reasonably attentive, but they both had a nice sense of humor. I say "reasonably" because nobody was at the front counter for a few minutes. But, what do you expect? These people repair cars. They don't have a receptionist playing solitaire, waiting for the phone to ring, just to give you an inflated estimate you can't afford anyway. To me, that is actually good. Money goes to their very good mechanics, not managers watching customers. We paid $383. That is 80% off what we would have paid at the place with free beverages. Therefore, I have no absolutely choice but to award them 5 stars for their outstanding value offered. If you are filthy rich, that won't matter too much. But to other people, that might matter. And even if I were rich, I'd might have preferred to have gone here, especially if I was waiting. Why? Two reasons. First, when you only repair what is really broken it can take less time, and the job is completed faster. Second, I don't have to educate myself about the repair enough to know if I'm getting ripped off. This means less effort on my part. Added bonus: they were open late and they were nice to talk with. I felt like a 1st class person. We were able to get information during the repair which helped us decide what other things to do. read more

Adam and David at the service counter efficiently had my vehicle repaired, and Gary, the technician today, also discovered improper-sized rear brake rotors that were installed by another business. Gary has serviced our vehicles on multiple occasions and should be commended for professional diligence. Separately, while I was doing some computer work in the waiting area, another employee stopped by and proactively set up a table for me to conduct my work on. No call, I went there and the store was closed leaving me high and dry. I had to have my husband readjusted his day to take me to work because they did not call me to let me know my vehicle was done.
