These people are very busy but do their best to fit in emergency situations such as I experienced. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. If I had to say anything negative at all it would be that the people who check you in could be a little more person able. The guys were a bit gruff and made various customers including myself feel like a big inconvenience. Listening to the complaints of short staff and managerial indifference of its employees should be discussed out of customer ear shot. But, having said that they did get me in to replace my blown tire in about 2 hours. My wife who is 75, stood outside with me in the heat with 2 dogs because the waiting room inside was full. They might want to consider expanding the waiting room. Eventually we got the car back and although the transaction had no friendliness to speak of, they did take care of me and we were on our way. Took our 2017 GMC Yukon for non working air conditioner. $560 for a recharge on the system with dye. Worked great for 2 weeks, then it stopped working, So we brought it back thinking they would just correct the problem that they didn't fix originally. We were told they couldn't find a leak during the original inspection. Also, their "air conditioner service guy was off until the following week" Of course a crap place like this doesn't have a warranty on their work and we refused to give them another penny, so we angrily left. We took the vehicle down the road for an estimate. They found a leak within 3 minutes within pulling into the lot. Please don't go here, They don't warranty their overpriced work. I've used this store for over 4yrs. Now under new management and am done with them! Had purchased a battery. First 2 in stock batteries had bad cell, had to replace within a couple months. Suspected slow leak on my old truck, paid them to check it. Found no problems. 3rd battery I wanted something other than their store brand. They gave me a battery from Advance Auto. Worked for a little less than a year then would not hold or take a charge. Tried to replace it, new mgmt said original was out of warranty and they had NO record of the two batteries they replaced for me In their computer. How lame is that!!! They wouldn't accept that this latest battery was from Advance Auto. They said it didn't matter and would sell me another POS. I'm done with dealing with these low level auto stores like Pep Boys. I'm not impressed with the new management. They blatantly contradicted their motto that they have plastered up on the wall behind the cash registers. I went in for an oil change. Upon paying my bill Joshua the attendant asked if I wanted to sign up for discounted services. He asked me for my SSecurity # which I questioned. I asked if this would affect my credit. He said it's only a 'soft credit' & went on & on about the discounts that I would get. I later find out that it's a hard credit check which will affect my score. I tried calling 'Nicholas Williams' the service manager but he did not respond. I was lied to & am extremely upset. Made an appointment for 11:00. I got there around 10:50 they told me it would be an hour, hour and a half max. I sat there for 30 minutes got up to walk around and saw they were just taking my car back at 11:30. I sat down and proceeded to wait another hour and a half for my car. I had purchased so called bargain tires from Walmart worst experience ever. Had the tires on my Lexus ES350 car pulled left then right, never could be balanced. Took my car to Pep Boys in Ocala had it aligned, took the Wal Mart bargains off and replaced them with Cooper Tires and the car drives like it was new. They are balanced perfectly and we have no shimmy. The price was very fair and the service was timely. I shall return when my truck tires need replaced. read more

I was so amazed visiting this Pep Boys after about a year ago and feeling like I was taken avantage of. Today I had a battery issue and my "new" repair shop was not open. Got a new reasonably priced battery, synthetic oil change, tire rotation, fluids checked and refilled as needed, cabinet air filter replaced and my trunk switch looked at for under 300.00 dollars. This location has come such a long way. Must have changed Mgmt there! Counter people pleasant and answered all my questions. They actually paid Lift to get me to work! Although not far I didn't have to hang out , wait for my car when I could be brought to work so I could make money! I made an appointment online for 11:00 this morning. I arrived at 1055 and was told it would be an hour until the could replace my headlight bulb. The man behind the counter said they don't honor the online appointments and the website doesn't know what appointments are available. I left and came back at 1212 and my truck had not yet been moved. I asked for the manager the man said he was the manager. He likened his store to a doctor and said I shouldn't have made the appointment online I should have called!!! This manager who said its his store told me not to raise my voice. I went to this Pep Boys because I'd had good experience with the Pep Boys in Altamonte Springs, FL. They are always polite and thorough. When I called this location, I ordered tires, and was told they'd be there in 2 days. I called back a few days later, was told there was a truck coming in today which probably had my tires. Not so. The next day, I called again, and had some questions. I could tell the guy was trying to end the call, and seemed to be more interested in something else, rather than my call. Treat the phone caller with respect and be patient. They were just always in a hurry on the phone, and just wanted to make the appointment and be done with me. I ended up getting my tires elsewhere, and had a good experience. Store manager, talk to your phone people and advise them not to be so abrupt or you will lose sales. read more

My boyfriend and I were traveling from Palm Harbor, FL to Philadelphia, PA when he noticed two bubbles in our back tire. We didn't want to risk having a blowout on the highway so we decided to have the tire replaced on the way. We called several places and all either had no available appointments or did not have the tire we needed. Pep Boys in Ocala, FL had the tire and the time to change it for us. Additionally, they were willing to work with the insurance we have on our tires for road trauma. When we arrived at Pep Boys we were greeted by Bruce, who went absolutely above and beyond for us. He called the insurance company and got us approval for the first tire. However, after the mechanics got the car up to replace the initial tire, they realized there were several bubbles in the other rear tire. Bruce again called the insurance company and when they told him they needed to send out an adjustor for the second tire, Bruce really fought for us, explaining our situation, and asking the insurance representative the question on our minds - what were we supposed to do while we waited the 24-48 hours for the adjustor? Ultimately, Bruce got the second tire covered as well and faxed all of the paperwork back and forth with the insurance company. We were at Pep Boys from 11 am - 3 pm. Not waiting for service, but fighting with the insurance company and Bruce stayed right there with us. He was a huge help in getting us back on the road and absolutely went above and beyond all expectations. We're so grateful for his service that day as it is unusual for someone to care for their customers and job like he did. Thanks Bruce! read more

First thing they ask me is why I did not go to the Gainesville location to get it fixed. Took two hours for them to tell me the tire was shredded and could not be fixed because I "drove too long on it". Had to pay for ANOTHER tire because I did not get there $78 "road side hazard", when I was there a week ago. They take all your money and time to do minimal work. I had arrived the day before (after a 3 day road trip) and was there to surprise my parents and help with my terminally ill grandmother. Until I ran into a curb REALLY hard. After 2 AAA people the second being a tow truck driver who suggested Pep Boys and dropped my car off there. These amazing people sorry I don't remember your names (they probably remember me I gave them all a hug when I picked up my fixed car) early the next morning. Oh yeah and this all happened on the 4th of July weekend, I am so thankful they could find the parts and get it fixed so quickly. Recently brought in my sedan with 235,000 miles for a squealing belt. A friend had replaced my original compressor with a rebuilt one, so I assumed it was a damaged belt....i had just put a new v type belt on. In fact they found, and showed me, that several of the compressor bolts had snapped, fell out, and one was broken off inside, with the compressor hanging tilted on the belt. For a reasonable cost they remounted the compressor and even got out the broken bolt. They were clearly decayed from probably road salt that seeped in when i was up north. When the belt still started to squeak the next day, i assumed the belt was in fact bad, and when i brought it in they compared it in front of me to a regular belt. It looked good. I opted to change it and the difference was immediate. They gave me a discount on the labor because i was in the day before. Turns out my car does not like those v type belts. Prior to this visit, my first use of them a few months back was for my engine light coming on. They waived the charge of an engine diagnostic because it was a fuel vapor leak and that diagnostic did not solve the problem. They found a loose, rusted clamp,replaced it and i was only charged $35 for the smoke test, no charge for the clamp or labor. Would highly recommend because they stand by their work and charge fair rates. Word to the wise: saving money by having friends fix things can cost you more in read more

Came in here with no other choice, as I was in the middle of nowhere (ahem, Ocala) and my car was overheating and it was late in the day. Diagnosis was a bad radiator, the news delivered with certainty. I paid over $400 to be on the road again the next day, and the car was straining from the moment I drove out of their parking lot - being a non-turbo Volvo, it's a little bit of a tortoise anyway, but never had this much trouble before shifting gears between 25-50 MPH. I figured we were selling it anyway and that they must have fixed whatever was going on. Fast-forward to two days later: again, overheating engine in the same vein, with a grand finale of gushing coolant all over the parking lot at my work. Awesome. Either I got a shitty diagnosis, was scammed, or these guys are on glue. Perhaps all of the above. All I know is that my car is now back in the shop at the local Pep Boys, though I'd prefer to never go to one EVER again....but it's there with the hopes that I can get someone lucid to give me an answer or a refund. read more
