I got a tire repair and oil change, the guy could have been a bit more professional but not bad. It was what was caught on my camera they were just saying things about me and my car I would not go there again. The service was a bit overpriced. Please be careful of this Pep Boys, they are excellent at running a game on you (both the tech and manager). Their business model is to lie to the customer and convince you that your problem is larger than what is actually needed. On Sunday 6/5 @ 9am I arrived at this location to repair a tire that was losing air due to a nail located 3 inches from the sidewall. The technician and store manager informed me that the tire could not be repaired and Michellin tires have a history of cracking after two years of wear. He recommended I replace all 4 tires due to cracking and wear. He also informed me that he have a tire sale. I quickly told him to lower my vehicle off the rack and give me my keys. I immediately proceeded to Sams Club and unknowingly to me, members receive free flat repair. Sams reported that my tires where good and they have more than half the tread life left. read more

My 2014 Silverado battery had finally kicked the bucket, I got a jump and headed over to auto zone first. The Silverado battery placement makes it difficult to change and several places refused to change it because they didn't want to be liable to any damage to fuel pumps and fuse boxes. Auto zone recommended pep boys down the street, and boy am I glad they did that. MAX is the greatest guy ever and he helped me out so much. They changed my battery within 30 min of me arriving to their store, and their price beat out every other place I checked out by a landslide!!! I had an appointment at 9am for an oil change and a wheel alignment. There was not anyone when I arrived and they did not start working on my car until 920. They were more concerned eating breakfast and vaping than working on my car. Furthermore they lied about the cost of my oil change and returned my car back to me with the tire light on which wasn't on before. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere professional. It's unfortunate to see poor reviews from other Yelpers, but my experience seems to be much different than theirs. I have received exceptional service from this Pep Boys location and will continue to do business with them. Today's experience has turned me into a loyal customer! It all started when I had a blowout on my driver's side rear tire today (the Sunday before Labor Day). I had ordered a tow from my insurance company, and the representative informed me that Pep Boys on Blanding was one of the few garages open that late on a Sunday. Without any prior experience with this location, I agreed to have my car dropped off here. Upon arrival, Matthew Brunetto, the assistant service manager, greeted me and already knew my name. He was expecting my arrival! Good job on communication between my insurance and Pep Boys! I explained my situation and informed him that I knew that all of my tires were probably in need of replacement. Granted that we only had an hour left before closing, I wasn't expecting to receive much other than the blown tire to be replaced. Matthew and his team inspected my vehicle and all of the tires. He expressed deep concern as I have been driving on tires that are ready to pop just like the one that did earlier. No promises were made, but Matthew was willing to jump in with his guys and work alongside them just to help me out. I felt horrible for inconveniencing the shop, especially on a holiday weekend. In his words, he told me, "I like a challenge." I probably would not have received this same type of treatment had I gone to another tire shop on such short notice. Less than an hour later, all 4 tires have been replaced and a wheel alignment had been done. They have a "Buy 3, get 1 free" tire promotion along with a rebate program. On top of that, I received a full year of complimentary roadside assistance with this tire purchase. You can't beat that! Made an appointment to get an oil change for my Toyota Corolla and when I got there was told it would cost almost $100. My jaw was on the floor, but my oil still needed to be changed so I said ok. Fate intervened and I had to leave due to a family emergency... Thank goodness, because I was able to schedule the same oil change and tire rotation with a local Toyota dealership for $40. If I could give this store a 0 store, I would. Even with a receipt from this store, it was a nightmare. The nightmare started as a blow-out on my front driver wheel. Reason? unknown, probably BC THE TIRES WERE OLD! After being stranded on deserted road along Starke, a kind stranger stopped by to help me put in the donut tire. I'm so grateful for the kindness of this stranger. Anyway, My dad heard about my flat tire and he told me to go to Pep Boys bc he had bought the tires from Pep Boys with a warranty. I went to Sam's in Gainesville to check prices and ask for an opinion. The jerk there tried to take advantage of me ( please read my review for the Gainesville Sam's Club Tire Center) and get me to buy 4 new tires. He told me that the people at Pep Boys put in tires with the wrong speed rating for my car. Luckily, my boyfriend told me to get another second opinion before I decide to get any work done with Pep Boys because he said the representative at Sam's was shady. I went to Tires Plus on the University location in Gainesville. He didn't say anything about the speed rating of the car. However, he told me the tires were a general brand and they were from 2002. I was appalled because my father purchases these tires in 2006. I felt as though my dad was deceived by these people. My next stop, Pep Boys at the Newberry, Gainesville location. I have to admit, by this point I was very upset with Pep Boys, even though I knew this business had nothing to do with the business in Orange Park. I actually give this Pep Boys a 5 star for their customer service. You can read my review on that Pep Boys location. I learned Pep Boys do not have a nation-wide directory, at least that's what they told me. The Gainesville Pep Boys initially refused to replace my tire because they don't have any evidence of my warranty (which was at home in Jacksonville). I called this Pep Boys hoping they would have my tires information saved. Guess what, first, they said no. Finally, the manager said he had my dad's name on file, but it did not specify for what. My dad luckily saved the invoice and gave them the info. Even so, the manager said he could not find any information and that I'd have to go to this location and show them the paperwork. Kind of hard when you have a flat tire in GAINESVILLE. I was about to ask my dad to fax the paperwork to them when the kind Gainesville managers took my word on it. After refusing to give me my pro-rated tires, I was about to potty-mouthed them. I almost lost my cool hadn't it been for the GREAT customer service at the Gainesville Pep Boys Center. Absolutely the WORST experience ever. Had a coolant leak on Saturday and they were the only place opened at the time I discovered it. Took it over there and the guy said that the service technician would not be able to look at it that day and to bring it in on Monday and someone could look at it then as they would have someone all day. The guy I talked to went out to look at it with me and he said it would be fine to drive to my work (which he KNEW was 30 minutes to and from) and that I could use straight WATER as a cheaper alternative to coolant (which a google search proves that wrong) that I just needed to monitor the level. Decided not to take his advice and and get a ride from a friend's boyfriend who worked with me. I drove to their house the next two days keeping it stocked with Antifreeze each drive. When I came back on Monday after work, I was told the technician left for the day at 6 (even though I was booked for an appointment). The guy who was there did look at my car and said it was a cracked coolant housing and that it was not safe to drive it and could cause further damage. When I told him that the other guy said I would be safe to drive it, he laughed and said well you should have known better. If I had of known what the problem was I would not have brought it in the first place! Definitely will NOT be returning to this place (or any others for that fact). I am not letting a store who hires people who do not know what they are talking about handle my car. I will take it to a REAL mechanic. SUPER LONG, SHOCKING TRUE STORY LIES, HEATED EXCHANGES, BATTLE OF WILLS AND DANGEROUS BUSINESS PRACTICES Because of text limits I was unable to post full review Fact: 5/1/19 Original date of service. 2010 Prius 130k Items replaced: front and rear brakes, pads and 4 turned rotors. Oil change. Oil filter. Two front tires. Alignment. $800-$900 total. No other items or up sells reported by Pepboys Problems: Immediately noticed an odd sound from brakes. As well as a pull in the steering to the right. Gave it a couple of weeks to see if brakes would clear up. Returned to store to have brakes checked. Manager replaced brakes as well as NEW rotors at no cost. No explanation given. Great! But not so fast... Last week I noticed a vibration and cupping on tire so Monday morning I found my receipt from May/2019 and returned to the store to have an addrs. I noticed that in May these "professionals" had installed different sized tires. So in May they charged me for an alignment that was completed on different sized tires. tires replaced at no cost. No other problems. Tuesday On the way back from Daytona it was more severe. And at about st Augustine, traveling 65mph, something mechanical broke loose, momentary loss of control of vehicle, warning lights, and I was able to come to a stop on the side of interstate just before an exit SR 206. Luckily there were no other vehicles or semi trucks directly adjacent to me as I veered into another lane. I hobbled to the flying J truck stop and was able to have the vehicle towed back to Pepboys. Arrived at this location at 5:30. Long day. Was told mangr would be in Wed. I arrived at 7am today and the store manager was off today. he did assure me of the following: vehicle would be fully inspected and that, according to policy, repairs are suppo At 1:30pm I stopd in to see how it was. nothing was done to my car at all. it was there at 5 the night before and only 1 car inside. Now I'm upset. The original up brake job didn't do it. The mismatched sized tires and impossible to be accurate alignment I paid for in May didn't do it. Sending me away Monday with two new tires and two fairly destroyed struts, only to have the struts completely fail the VERY NEXT DAY at interstate speeds, didn't do it. Arriving after ALL of this to find the "lead tech" chilling outside of the shop and nothing repaired on my car SEVEN HOURS AFTER OPENING did it. That's what broke this camel's back. I politely approached the two techs and asked about the status of the Prius. He shrugged and said uh yeah, it's getting some brakes and stuff. Still shocked at this complete sham of a company, I politely asked if anything was done yet and he replied "no, i was working on this other car". No mention of waiting on part called the store manager. He, yet again, assured me he would find out the problem. Come to find out, they were waiting on a part, the struts. I wish someone would correct me if I am wrong, but I thought in 2019 and in a city as grand as Jacksonville, parts were an hour away from anywhere. Much less for a supposedly expedited order. Even if this is true, NOTHING was done to my car. There was A LOT to replace. Not to mention, at 9 am "you have to have new struts" but at 130pm they hadn't even taken a wheel off. They knew I needed struts without even taking the wheels off! I wonder if this tech knew it already because he saw it Monday and was just negligent?? I sat and watched the repairs being made, at this point I can't trust anyone here, anything that is said, and most importantly ANY REPAIRS MADE. The "lead tech" was holding a cell phone with his shoulder while BOTH hands are elbow deep in my car, no wonder the repairs from May had to be done THREE TIMES. have pics of that also. You really should get a handle on your store, Jay, it's painfully obvious. By the negligence shown on Monday, allowing me to leave with failed parts. You dodged a bullet with my situation today. Some one could have been seriously injured. Jay all but said F U. I was surprised he was so bold to put it on text. I warn people of the dangers that you, are putting us in. Your store had my wheel off four time since May and not one time did anyone mention the hazard. My final offer to Jay was cost on struts and you'll never have to see me again. My father bought a battery on 12/29/2018 from the Orange Park Pep Boys. We went out to start his car this morning and it would not start. No worries the receipt had printed on it that the battery has a 3 year free replacement warranty and a 96 month prorated warranty. We finally got the car started and went up to Pep Boys. The young man looked at the receipt and said "It is a Bosch and it only had a two year warranty." I showed him on the receipt that it plainly said 3 year replacement/96 month prorated. He then said because it was a retail purchase versus an installed purchase and that the prorated warranty was not valid. NEVER have I heard such a thing. I have bought batteries from both Sears and WalMart (some installed, some not). Both retailers have always honored the prorated part of the battery warranty. I did not believe the young man and called the Middleburg Pep Boys and the salesperson there verified that this is correct. We went to WalMart and will continue to go there. The battery has a low charge due to the car not having been driven in about a month . WalMart was helpful and did not try to sell us a battery. read more

Nightmare of an experience. Tried to buy two new tires for the front of my car. 1 I could not have them on the front. They said that it,s a state law. I could find no law, you find feel free to post 2 after 40 min I saw that they had all four tires off and doing their 26 point inspection that I didn't want. After 1 hour they finally would put the tires on after I signed a waiver. 3 While waiting for the tires I purchased a set of wiper blades. Ten minutes after purchasing them, the guy insisted to credit the cost back and put it on the work order for the tires. The tires were paid for on line and evidently this last transaction screwed the order all up. Another 45 min later, and three card swipes, I was able to pay as a debit only 4 they did comp the blades but I think it was because they could not fugue how to add it to the work order and were afraid to ask me to swipe again 5. As I had plenty of time to observe the staff, to a man they were smug, mocking of customers, and had a vibe of not wanting to be there I'll never visit Pepboys again read more

If I could give a ZERO I would!! I went to the middleburg location because my alternator went out. They had to remove my axle in order to gain access to my alternator. Upon picking up my car it started to make a grinding sound and when I turned my car it would make a loud popping sound. I took my car back in because this was not happening prior to their "fix" and was told that yes my axle was broken and that they would fix that but that my wheel bearing are now broken to the point that they simply fell off my vehicle and I would need to pay over 500 dollars to get this fixed. I told the man that if my axle was broken then it makes sense that it could have damaged my wheel bearing and that they needed to fix this as well. He then changed his story and said that the threading on my axle was bad and not that it was broken. ON my receipt no where does it say that my axle had a bad threading nor was I informed of this meaning that they placed a broken axle back onto my car and allowed me drive off the lot with it!!!! On top of that my check in and check out mileage and it was the exact same meaning that they NEVER QUALITY CHECKED MY CAR BEFORE GIVING IT BACK !!!! I Have spoken to the corporate office and I am getting the run around that I need to wait 24 hours for a district manager to to call me ( 24 working hours that is). NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO PEP BOYS. Absolutely worst experience and mechanics I've ever delt with. Spent $1800 to fix my van. And didn't even make it out of the parking lot before the serpentine belt fell off!! Went back into the store and they were unapologetic about their neglect to put the belt on properly and then had the nerve to say it was because we refused to get a diagnosis before the work was done ( which we didn't as it was not offered to us!) And that our water pump caused the belt to fall off and wanted another $700 to fix it. The managers customer service skills are that of a robot and he just repeated it was due to not having a diagnosis done that my van was not fixed properly when it was clearly the ignorance of the mechanics. I called corporate and got no call back. I will be reporting them to BBB and filing a law suit. Do not take your vehicle here!! My rating for Pep Boys of Orange Park is only for after I picked up my car and had Jeremy, Joe, Roberto and Kevin help fix all the things for my car that I asked to be done and were not done. They also took off a charge that I did not approve. I went in for an oil change to be done on my car and to check my front passenger tire for a slow leak. I also ask them to check why my check pressure in tire light had not turned on. I was told that it was not equipped in my 1999 Buick Regal. I knew it was and asked them to please check it. The man that wrote me up said there was a free TPMS check. I also asked them to make sure to reset my check oil light because other places had not reset it in the pass. When I went to pick up my car Kevin could not tell me anything about my tires because there were no notes. Roberto took over and looked over my invoice. He told me he would personally check my tires. I asked if they knew the results on my TPMS check and he knew nothing about this and said he would check on it. Then as Kevin was ringing me up he said I was being charged for the oil change and for an oil drain plug. I told him that I did not authorize the oil drain plug. He asked Roberto to take the charge off and Roberto apologized to me and took it off. He then told me to take my car to the garage area and he would check my tires. As I turned on my car I noticed that the check tire pressure, add wind shield wiper fluid and change oil light were turned on. Jeremy took the time to fill the wiper fluid and turn off the change oil light. Joe check over all my tires and found that I needed a new front tire because it was starting to split. He also added pressure to my tires. The mechanic left no notes about the tires, except he said that there was a nail in my left rear tire that did not need to be removed. I would have gotten upset if it had not been for these four gentleman who went out of their ways to help me. read more

4 days ago i Called about a clutch master for a miata and called to have it installed but they said i bought a part for a NIATA witch doesn't exist witch means someone needs more training. Brought my car in to have clutch master replaced, they told me I need a lot done on my transmission witch was going to cost a fortune so I brought it to a transmission shop and they told me I only need a couple parts and that pep boys is lying to me. Pep boys then told me I need a new clutch so I paid $80 to get it shipped over night. It didn't come in until 2 days later but they could not install it because the one worker working on my car was off that day, yesterday, apparently they other techs they have do not know what they are doing because he said they could mess something up. I filed a complaint and was told the manager would call but never did. They told me it would be done at 10 this morning. I went in this morning and they tell me they broke 2 bolts when they took the exhaust off the manifold witch they took off the first day it was there. So I called to file another complaint. The manager finally called me and was being rude saying he never said anything that I heard and saw come out of his mouth he yelled at me instead of giving me (the costumer) a solution. I've had it with this 2 faced, lying, sorry excuse for a manager. Every other shop I went to told me I'm being preyed on and what they are doing is wrong. I have never thought of getting my car work done at this so called "costumer service" shop. The only thing they know how to do is stall and wait for a couple days to tell the costumer they broke something 3 days ago and won't even admit they are in the wrong. Saveyour time and money and go to professionals. I will never go to any pep boys because of Rodney. The pep boys manager who should not be a manager if he is going to talk to costumers the way he does. Because they want to make more money by keeping my car in the shop as long as possible I'm about to lose my job because I can't work without my car. How am I suppose to pay them an arm and a leg if I can't even get to work because they are just screwing around. I want this place ether shut down or put under new management so they workers know how to work.
