Do not go here. I asked them to check all my lights, pointing out one of my headlights was out. They took 1.5 hours to change one headlight bulb. At checkout, the guy said "You know, your high beams don't work... It's $20 to replace each bulb." So why wasn't I told that another bulb needed replacement during my wait?? Upon arriving I also told them that I have all the bulbs needed for replacement. I didn't have time for them to continue "working" at this point, I had to go to work. After work, I had my lights looked at D & R Auto (Marco). He found a broken bulb left on my hood when I popped open my hood. He also found that both my high beam bulbs were just laying there loose. One was not making contact at all. He fixed it by simply making sure it was placed back in securely in the snaps. Do not go to this Pep Boys. Service is poor and they don't even have the basic customer service to problem solve and make sales. I paid $20 for them to change the headlight bulb I provided. They would have continued to charge $20 for any additional bulbs (already in my vehicle) that they incorrectly diagnosed as non operating, as they could not even properly check my lights and/or secure them back in correctly. read more

I came here about a year ago so this review is based on my personal experience. These guys were simply amazing. I remember getting there a friday night. Already frustrated and disappointed because I had gone to some mexican tire shop joint, unwilling to help because it was almost closing time I went on yelp. Reading the mixed reviews and seeing how close it is to my house I said, "Sure why not". I got there around 8pm. I required a mount and balance of four brand new Sumitomo High Performance HTRZ II Tires with four new Deep Dish Bullitt wheels to go with my mustang which I had been restoring. I had spoken to Eddie on the phone prior to my arriva,l regarding pricing. Eddie quoted me at $60 plus tax which was very reasonable. As I get there I let them know that I had spoken with Eddie on the phone about the serviced I inquired. They took care of my beautiful mustang and I paid less then what I was quoted, $50 to be precise. What set them apart was their fixing of my passenger seat side mirror. It had been dangling for a while thanks to some incident I had with the good for nothing CBP officers on a trip I made from TJ, Mexico. The Pep Boys crew took it in their hands to fix my mirror. Wow. Any kind of car maintenance can be a dicey experience, but these guys rock. I called in wanting to get new tires ASAP, they gave me a reservation for a half hour from the call. By the time I got there, I walked right in and was helped immediately. Anthony was my guy... He had a sense of humor! Amazing how far a couple laughs can go. He managed my expectations in terms of how long it would take. Got a buy 3 tires get 1 free deal. Im not sure if this is some promo thing they offer to everyone, or if I lucked out because of my tire size. Either way, brought the price down to lower than I was expecting to pay. I went to this Pep Boys to recycle some old motor oil and buy some new oil. I walked in the front door and the check guy told me to take it to the service desk. A guy at the service desk ask me to fill out "the log", which I did, then told me to go outside and around to the service bay. The pail had about 5 gallons of oil and was pretty heavy but I lugged it around back. Then the guy came out and said their barrel was full and the other one was broken. I had to go somewhere else. My car needed a new battery, and since I am strapped for money, I was looking for the best deal to get it done. I found a coupon for free installation with the purchase of a battery, saving me about $70 from what a local reputable shop had estimated. I figured a battery replacement is a very routine repair, so what could go wrong? Well, I wish I would have spent the extra $70 and gone to the shop I knew was good. On the positives: easy to make an appointment, quoted price was accurate, easy check in and check out process. Fairly fast time frames for repairs. Now to the bad: After waiting for there my car about the time frame they had estimated (I was in no rush), I was told my car was ready. I pay and go to leave, turn on the car, and my dashboard it lit up like a Christmas tree. All the lights that normally go off after you start the car are on permanently. The emergency brake light is flashing (never did that before!). My AC blows hot air. None of this was happening prior to my arrival at Pep Boys. After speaking to the worker, I'm told "that's normal, just drive around the block." So I do. No change. I come back and tell him we have a problem. He fiddles with something, and I see him connect something that hadn't been when he opened the trunk. This fixes a couple lights and the AC. I'm told to drive again. Again I do and no change. I'm then told they need "more time" to figure out what is wrong, so I end up having to come back the next day. After the return trip and several hours, I'm told they can't figure out what is wrong. They then suddenly start to change their stories about that this "never happens" with a battery install. They try to get me to leave by telling me I have to take it to the dealership and pay to have a diagnosis, which I'm not having. I mean, come on, you do a routine fix and suddenly multiple components on my car magically don't work? I don't think so. I stated I wanted the corporate information because this was unacceptable and I was not paying someone else to fix their bad work. Suddenly the story changes again, and another Pep Boys can fix it. Obviously they knew they did something because as the worker is on the phone with the other location he says "I can't say, the customer is standing in front of me." So an ADDITIONAL trip to another Pep Boys and another 30 minutes waiting, and my car is finally returned in the condition it arrived in, aside from the new battery. I was told the worker "owed me" for the amount of hassle I was put through because of their bad work, but honestly I would rather cut my losses than attempt to be compensated by allowing them to do anything else on my car. I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" is true here. At least they did finally get it right and as far as I can tell no major damage was done to my car. But I am definitely not taking my chances with them again. read more

I took my car here after calling to make sure they do realignments and they said yes it would take a couple hours and gave me the price so I dropped it off and UBERed home and got a call that they don't do it. So now I need to pay to Uber back and pick up my car and spent money for no reason and now all the shops are closed for the day. A HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. in february, i bought a new battery here. eddie was very sweet; he recommended a moderately-priced battery because i told him i didn't want to spend too much, and he discounted installation (i paid $4.99). he made sure to tell me to keep my receipt, as the battery has a three-year warranty for free replacement. well, i went into mazda today and they told me my battery wasn't holding a charge correctly. on the way home, i stopped by pep boys with my receipt, which i had in my glove box. robert took a look at it, told me the replacement would be free but that i would need to pay $14.99 for labor/installation. i asked if there was anything he could do about that, since the battery is only a bit more than six months old, and he immediately agreed and said he could waive it. i pulled my car up to the bay and within 20 minutes, the new battery was installed and tested, no charge to me. yay! i still need a tire rotation/alignment, and based on this experience, pep boys will be where i go. read more

I came here Dec 22nd, telling them that my cigarette outlets aren't working. I had a 600+ mile drive ahead of me that night, & was hoping to be able to charge my phone while driving. I told them that I drive a Prius & really wasn't sure what I was going to need in terms of fuses. I also said that I need an oil change & if they have time, I could really use it. I was told it would be about a 1 1/2 hr wait, but I told them I don't have the time to wait, I'm driving to Utah in a couple hours. A gentleman helped me (er...attempted to help me) w/ the fuse issue by coming out to my car & looking all around for my fuse box, & once he located it he took a while taking them all out & checking them to see if they work. There was a time or two that he had to go.inside to the computer to print off a paper that explains something, I guess it had to do w/ fuses & my model car?? After I'd say approximately 1/2 hr (oops, I'd been expecting this to be maybe a 10 min process...) he said your fuses are working fine, it may be an electrical issue, but we really don't have the time it will take to look into it. I told them that's fine, I really don't either, I'm supposed to be leaving for Utah soon & I'll just deal w/ it when I get back. So I pull out of my parking spot, pull onto Colorado Blvd, & notice my turn signal wasn't blinking or clicking..& hey! Wait a minute, where is my speedometer? WAIT - my entire dash isn't working! I couldn't see my speedometer/odometer/Gas gauge/blinkers. So I backed right back into the lot & jokingly told him he broke my dash. Ok, it's just a matter of retracing our steps, so to speak. I patiently sat there for idk, another 30 minutes or so? While he tried one thing after another after another after another to get it working again. I wasn't concerned at first as I thought it was maybe a fuse missing from when he was taking them out, maybe he forgot to put one back in, or he put it back in wrong, or in the wrong spot or something. But after so long I was really starting to get concerned!! The gentleman asked for at least another 1/2 hour...I told him I was just going to leave my car w/ them & I would walk home bc I still had to pack & my friend was on her way over to get ready to leave!! My 10/15 min stop had turned into over an hour already!! Thankfully I live in the area so it's a short walk for me. So over probably an hour later I finally got a call from them, they couldn't figure it out, all the fuses are working fine, it's getting power to it, no idea why it's not lighting up. Asked if they could keep it till tomorrow since they had just passed their hours of operation. I told them NO! I was supposed to have left for Utah already!! I am not postponing my trip an entire day bc you guys broke my car!! Grr. So my friend & I go back to Pep Boys & we are talking it over w/ the 'mechanics' who claim they just have no idea what is wrong with it, one mentioned that they've heard of Prius' having the problem of the dash no longer working. Uhh no dude, this is not an issue with MY CAR, it's an issue that did not happen until you guys started looking at my car - this is something YOU GUYS did, bc otherwise gee that would be some coincidence!!! It was fine when I initially pulled in here (aside from the outlet issue, which still hadn't been fixed) We talked to the manager & he says I can take it in to the Pep Boys in SLC, they can call & talk to him & he will explain to them what happened & that way I can get it fixed w/o being charged. So we again confirm nothing else can be done at this time. I'm frustrated, bc now I have to drive over 600 miles w/ no idea of how fast I'm going, or how much gas I have. I was super irritated but I also felt bad for the guy who broke my car cuz I can only imagine how he was feeling at this point. So my friend & I back up from the spot in front of the garage & I realized my back up camera & the beeping to alert me that I'm reverse were also not working, so on a whim I asked her to roll down her window as we were leaving to just let them know that oh, by the way, this & this are also both not working. She did that, & they had us pull back in to explain that the cam & the beeping are off the dash which is what tells them I'm in reverse, so once the dash is working again, those things will be resolved as well. They again told us they ran many tests on it & the fuses are all fine & this & that, blah blah. At this point there were like 4 'mechanics' standing around my car trying to collectively figure it out I guess. Finally one guy asks the others if they've done (such & such)...I don't recall their response, but he said Well let's do it JUST IN CASE. Within 10 min it was fixed!! I drove out of Pep Boys over 3 hours after I'd arrived w/ NO oil change & my car being in the exact same condition it had been in 3 hours before. What a waste of time!!! Nice guys, though. Oh & my mechanic fixed my cig plug in 5 min. Just wish he hadn't been on vacation that day. read more

If I could, I would leave zero stars. My mom is a senior and has been a customer here for a long time. I keep telling her to go to "my guy" and I think today finally convinced her. She bought her last tires from pep boys. A while ago her rear tire was going low, she brought it in, but they couldn't find the leak. This weekend, her tire went flat. She started to drive before she realized it and parked the car as soon as she could. We brought it in and pepboys told her the warranty was voided because she drove on the tire flat and damaged the tire wall. We argued with them, that this was ridiculous, and they said they would honor the warranty, but the cost of replacing the tire with the warranty was going to cost more than what she paid for the original tire . I told them that was ridiculous!!! They said that it's because the cost of the tire has increased since she purchased it. I have NEVER had a warranty work that way. I told my mom to leave and go to another tire place. If she needed a new one, I'd rather give the money to someone else. We went to another tire store, they fixed the tire and told us, there was nothing wrong with tire, that it was totally safe . I believe them, because we went in there totally prepared (and expecting) to buy a new one. We would have been a very easy sale. Pepboys was totally scamming and taking advantage of my elderly mother. I'm so disgusted. She's been a customer for many, many years....never again! I hope someone investigates this place. These idiots installed the wrong model alternator that eventually boiled my battery and killed the car!!!!!!!! Towed my car to this place, subsequently to the one in Hollywood and the one in Downtown and NONE OF THESE CHIMPS found out why my car kept dying. Finally took my VW to Jomag Auto in Silverlake, and within 3 minutes the owner fingered out the problem. Only because the alternator was under the warranty, I wouldn't have gone back to this place ever again. Please people avoid this place at all costs!!!! I had my battery replaced here this morning, but there was a small accident while one of the staff parked my car( she might have almost crushed my car to a blue SUV!). Luckily, it ended up leaving a minor scratch on the rear left bumper. The staff wiped the scratched part immediately and insisted it was not from the accident, which at least 4 customers watched. Do yourself a big favor and stay away from this Pep Boys. I'm 69 yrs old and they told me my alternator was out. I said ok fix it. Then he says "oh I see you have 2 bad belts". I say they did seem lose to me. The bill was suppose to be $345 ish. Then they tell me hours later my bracket is broken. They were trying to find one. No estimate on parts or labor. I call about 4 and the service guy says its all done and being road tested. I call back later to find out how late there open to pick my truck up. "Oh, its not done. The wrong bracket was delivered." What that's not What I was told. Next day I call pep boys customer service to complain. My bill is now over $600. I never got an additional estimate for bracket or labor. That against the State Autilo repair laws in calif. I'm promised the district rep will handle this. Then he's busy but will get back to me within 24 hrs. I told them I need my work truck to pick up a convertible with no top out in tbe rain. Next day after 24 hrs no reply from area rep as I was promised. This shop is violation state law and holding my truck hostage. I even was given a case number and that lady has a message on her machine saying she's out of the office from Dec 23 until Jan3? What professional leaves old messages on there answer machine. This place is a rip off and upper managmebt does not care even to honor promisses or even follow the state laws. Save yourself activation and grief. They pretend to be nice but are actually are just wolf's in sheep's clothing. Shame on pep boys. My problem was a broken alternator bracket not 2 bad belts or alternator. Im filling a complaint with State auto repair office that regulates unfair auto repair practices. First, I made an appointment on line Yet when I went to this store and they said they did not receive my appointment. It's fine. They took my car for service at 4:47 (premised). The adviser is Will and the Mgr is Tony. Will told me it will took about 45 mins due to a lot of cars at that time. However, After I walked around and came back at 5:40. My car was still in the same place where I parked. I checked with services and they just realized they did not work my car?! I was madpe but sick of argue and just asked how long I need to wait more. they told me 15 mins... However, they finally get my car done by 6:15 and told me that sorry to take so long because they didn't know how to start my car (They asked me at 6pm..)... (I had my phone number and just walked around there? ) Why not just checking with me by cell or call me early? They give me discount for only 19.99 for oil change in the end.. Yet, I already have coupon for 21.99? What is the difference? Also, they did not check my tire pressure and rotation. The cashier (327812) told me because I did not request? Excuse me, it includes in your service charge and you said will be based on request? Again, I had been waiting too long and can't wait more. I left without argument. In fact, I know the oil change deal 19.99 on weekday did not include tire rotation, so I decided to go today (Friday) with my reward coupon but received such a bad experience. I've only been to this Pepboys twice. I found that this location was very convenient for me. I can drop my car off and walk around the area because there are some cute little lunch spots and shopping. The first time I went, the customer service was great and it did take a couple of hours to just get an oil change, but I didn't mind because they were very busy. The second time I went, I was having a starter issue and again, they were very busy and I waited patiently for my turn. When the employee asked me for my reason being there, I explained my issues and they did a quick diagnostic test. When they came back with the results, I found it very unprofessional and rude that they had the audacity to tell me to google what my car issues were on my phone. Was that my job??? Really? Boo. I made an appointment for this place to give me an oil change and a smog check. I arrived 15 minutes early, just in case. They didn't have any of the appointment info, so I had to fill everything out again. Plus, they claimed there were "appointments ahead of me" so I would have to wait an hour or more for my oil change. :( When I pointed out that I wanted a smog check too, they said they didn't do that. I then had to point to the sign on their wall providing the fees for smog checking. Then he explained they have the equipment, but not the guy to run the test. WHAT??? There were two other ladies there, one said she had been waiting over 3 hours for a blown tire! WOW. I own a 92 Jeep Cherokee. Went to Pep Boys the other day for an AC inspection and repair. After informing the sales associate Joel that the had Jeep been converted to R134, of a known leak placement, and that the compressor is good. I received a call later that day saying that I had contaminated the system by putting R134 in. After informing Joel yet again that it had been converted, he called back within the hour to say that just whole system is contaminated and they would have to replace everything. Come to find out that the vehicle had never moved PERIOD. Not for the inspection, nor to be placed inside over the night. As she sat outside with the windows cracked all night. Lastly the service members drained my battery. I proceeded to ask for a jump, but the service members decided to try and sell me a new battery instead. Finally after 10 mins of talking about it they decided to bring the jump box out and charge my battery. 30 minutes later I'm able to leave, with an interior that still smells of cigarettes. I received nothing but attitude from the minute I walk in the door. I bought the wrong bulb the other day, and needed to exchange it. Not a big deal, right?! Well it is at this store!! I figured I gave them my phone # when I checked out, and the bulb was only $4.99 they shouldn't need a receipt, I threw it in my car door tray and didn't have it at the time. So anyway, I walk in the store and go straight to the guy, and tell him I'd like to exchange the bulb I bought the wrong one. He asked for the receipt, I said I didn't have one (at this point he could of just said sorry, need a receipt) he takes the bulb from me, opens the pack and begins to inspect them by holding the up as if to look for the filament. He's like I can't be sure you even bought these hear and we don't except returns without a receipt and I don't even know if these are still good. I' say you just opened the package, and I'm just trying to get the right color. He's says I didn't open it, you did. I said, no I didn't. Anyway, so I somehow convince him to let me exchange the brand new bulbs, in the wrong color (part # 194W for white) for the bulbs that I wanted in the right color (Part # 194B for blue). I go and grab the right bulb and wait through the line to get to the guy again. He's like I can't exchange these, their the same bulb. I say no, they are not the same bulb, they have different part numbers and the one I am returning is $1 more. He says, okay, but your buying the same bulb. I say, NO, I'm not buying the same bulb, the one I am returning is a Xenon White bulb, and the one I want is a Blue bulb. Seriously guy, get over the fact that they both look blue, they are not the same!! So he sends a guy over to the shelf to look at them and the guy comes back and tells him, that I'm right. Okay, so now we're getting somewhere, yes let's make this happen. No!!!! He has to go over to the shelf and look for himself, he's in disbelief, how can they be different? they both look blue, the world has just crumbled. One light is white, but it looks blue. Ego cracking... So finally, he comes back to the register, and he's decided he can make the exchange. He proceeds to scan the bulb I brought back into the system, then he scans it again to ring out the total, and has me sign the paper, and verify the phone # in the system. He thinks he's done at this point, but there is one thing left. Since he scanned the same bulb twice, the total breaks even, but I am left with a bulb that is actually $1 cheaper. No way am I letting this one slide, not after what a pain in the ass this guy has been. I demand my $1, get a manager if you have to. He goes to the manager and talks a minute, and comes back and says he can't give me the dollar. I am pissed!!! I ask him his name, he tells me Francisco. I asked his last name, cause I'm doubting a black guy named Francisco. He says you don't need that. I'm fine with that answer, but I ask his managers name. He will not give me this information, I ask again, he refuses and tells me to step aside for the next customer. I'm ready to blow up at this point. I go over to the security booth where he talked to his manager, and I knock. A guy comes out, and says he's the manager, says his name is Mario. I like Mario, I tell him what happens, he gives me the $1 and I'm on my way. Seriously, how hard did that need to be Francisco? What a jerk!! This experience has definitely swayed my decision on shopping here, I will be going to Auto Zone from now on. read more

I would give negative stars if possible. I went in for a coolant replacement, my car must've been sitting there for about 30 minutes before they popped the hood. One of the guys came back so quickly & said "I can't do the coolant replacement because your water pump has a hole." I asked how much to replace the water pump, they said $500.00. I'm no mechanic, obviously, but I do have common sense, so it was a little odd to me as to how he was able to determine that so fast. Anyway, I said thanks but no thanks. I took my car & called my brother who is a mechanic. He came to my house & showed me where the coolant & water pump is. & what do I see?¿ not only does my water pump NOT have a hole, my coolant is full as fuuuhh. Don't go here! Went in to change a battery. They told me the alternator is near dead. The manager then gives me an estimate for the part of $286. Sounded high, so I look online and found it on Pep Boys own website for $120. Unbelievable. Then I look at the reviews and it's not even a new alternator, it's a pep boys brand remanufactured model that is notoriously unreliable. I mention this and the manager actually agrees, "yeah, they are no good." But it doesn't stop him from trying to sell it to me for more than double what his own store charges. You'd think A name like Pep Boys would be too big to behave like this but this was a manager and when I challenged him about it he said it was policy to sell what he could. Buyer beware read more
