To preface, i'm not a person to write a review unless the business or person(s) absolutely deserve it. In this rare case, the guys Jahqui & Mario from Pep boys deserves the honorable mention. Ran through a huge nail which destroyed my tire at 6:45pm. After making several calls to nearby shops, i decided to go to Pep boys to see if they could repair or replace the tire. Keep in mind it was few minutes before their closing time. I went into the shop, clearly distressed and explained what has happened and have them analyze the possible solutions. Those that have been in my similar position know the feeling of helplessness and desperation. Jahqui, probably the most down to earth person evaluated the dire situation and presented the unfortunate news. The nail was huge and placement of the nail annihilated my tire and could not be easily patched. They also didn't have the tire in stock and were unable to find other vendors with my tire size. However, Jahqui's assuring demeanor analyzed all possible solutions - most which required a tire delivery the next day which was unacceptable for my circumstances. Eventually, as the last resort, Mario (the tire guy) worked his magic and temporarily patched my awful tire just enough to get me home 30 miles away. All of this occurred far past their closing time and they didnt ask for a single cent. I had to offer them a tip for their hard work on OVERTIME. They could've easily shot me away, stating they're closing and unable to help. Without Jahqui and Mario, i would've probably had to call a tow truck or be left stranded. Their dedication to their service and customers are unmatched. They've just won a lifelong customer and would recommend everyone to them. If you're serviced by Jahqui or Mario, you're in good hands. I hope they both get a promotion or raise because they deserve it. read more

English isn't their forte' three times in the last four years I brand my truck to them for a misfire. The diagnosis? Clogged drains under my windshield caused the coil pack to get wet! Last time I mentioned it seems to coincide when I use my windshield washer. They again said it was a drain and changed the washer pump. Well today I used my washer, drove two blocks and the misfire happened again. This time on the 2nd cylinder! They never checked or changed any of the hoses leading to the new pump! I call them up and basically get "duuuuhhh" from whatever Pygmy they have answered the phone that can't understand clear English! read more

I took my older car here for an alignment. The gentleman at the front desk tried to sell me tires saying that the alignment would be off unless I spend the $800. Of course, I said no. Well I get the car back and the alignment was WAY off. The steering wheel was 2" off center. I had to take it back and they again tried to sell me on $800 of tires when I could see with my own eyes the wheel was turning sideways when the steering wheel was straight. After I said no, they took it back and you guessed it, the alignment was fixed. They even printed the report showing the readings before vs after, and their first alignment job was all red!! Sold me a set of shitty tires and within a month one tire had a hole. They did the worst job repairing it possible then a while later I had to have all tires replaced because the repaired tire wouldn't hold air and all 4 tires need an even tread on an AWD vehicle otherwise you destroy your powertrain. Polite phone service, arrived easily enough-missed the entrance and did a quick u-turn. Arrived. Phil had excellent customer service and took the time to edit my name that had been entered incorrectly at another location, making me feel like a human. Quick and efficient. Last month I came here to get a tire mounted. It was easy; took them 20 minutes. $20 and I was gone. Today, I came in with a screw stuck in a tire. I already removed the tire and Christian said to leave it there and come back later. I went to lunch. When I came back, the tire was fixed and needs to be put back on. After 15 min, the original tire was put on and the spare was put back neatly with the cover and all. Christian did a good job AND didn't even charge me for the work. I have to share the kindness, generosity, care, and consideration that was shown at the PEP BOYS PINEBROOK, NJ STORE ONLY. I have never had good experiences with Pep Boys in the past. However Chris at the Pine Brook store was beyond awesome. I came to get a tire sensor repaired. There was another issue that any other store would not have cared about making me aware of a new bad tire. Chris, and his manager Kelly helped me in a way that you would never imagine. I will say you would never find this kind of service in this life time. If you visit this store please be kind, and you will be very happy with the kindness shown in return. I came here for a simple oil and while waiting I kept seeing the gentleman behind the counter go intotjte garage and start hearing all this yelling out of the garage. I kept going out into the parking lot to peak into the bay but i could not see anything. The third time I heard the argument I again went outside this time all the techicians/mechanics (4) were all in a group yelling with the gentleman from the front desk. What a freakin mess. I had to call the manager from the Parsippany Pep boys to get someone at the home office or someone to contact the manager at the pinebrook office to focus on getting my car done!! I then hear the manager get a call and I hear him say there was no fighting and arguments. What BS!!!! read more

Worst Experience Ever and I have yet to hear back from anyone in Senior Management after 5 days of filing my complaint thru PepSocial@PepBoys.com! I rarely post any reviews but this has gone beyond what I would consider an acceptable time frame to reach out and do what's right. I was at the Pine Brook NJ Service Center on a Sunday morning to replace 4 tires. I patiently waited an hour before the tech was able to get to my car. The employee that drove the car into the bay, didn't know how to drive my car so I had to step out and guide him on how to get the car into 1st gear and get it to move. Once the car was inside, they removed all 4 wheels and I observed the tech remove the first tire. I noticed that the tech was having a hard time getting the new tire on so he asked another employee for help. That employee went to grab a pry bar that is not meant to be used on wheels. The tech was already using the correct bar designed to be used with the tire mount machine. I even YouTubed how to mount a tire while I watched them carry on this fiasco. While that was going on, I couldn't help but notice that the tech was not only slipping on the wheel as it turned on the machine, but he was also popping, damaging, scraping and scratching the inside and outside of the wheel at the same time with the pry bar!! I made them aware that they were not using the right technique to mounting the tires based on previous experience and observations on top of the YouTube video which I tried to share with the crew! Soon after that, the manager asked if I wanted to go to another pep boys to get the job done because the tech wasn't qualified to do the work!!!! Are you kidding me?!?! I waited an hour before they attended to me, when they did start, they spent an hour working on 1 wheel... then, they damaged the wheel they started to work on and all of a sudden... the tech isn't qualified to do the work?!? Why wasn't I told before he started to work on the car that the tech wasn't qualified?! I was told by manager/sales rep who was there that morning to to call the the next day to resolve the issue with the scratches on my wheel and even gifted me a free oil change! Add injury to insult, I would never go back for anything to this facility, let alone an oil change!! I proceeded to file my complaint thru pepsocial@pepboys.com and 5+ days later, I have yet to hear from Senior Management or anyone else for that matter. I would never return again. I brought my car and my husbands car several times with positive experiences. Unfortunately they change management/staff often. This time a routine brake pad (covered under warranty) replacement ended up turning into a bill well over $1000. When reviewing the bill. I was OVER charged for parts, extra "warrrantys" were added on that were never requested or discussed and work was done that was not discussed or approved. In the end I was refunded $100 or so for all the "added on" charges. But I have to say --- if we had not reviewed our bill we would have been taken advantage of..and if that happened to us i'm sure it will happen to others. When you go to a mechanic to have your car fixed, you trust them with doing the correct job and well....how can I trust someone who overcharges people on purpose? Its really sad that they intentionally take advantage of customers. Take your business elsewhere. read more

They do not know what they are doing. I've come in there to pick up my car a half hour before close and had to wait for FIFTEEN minutes before someone came up front. As with the other Pep Boys I've been to, they've tried to double charge for a diagnostic. If you are having car problems, write down your car issues on individual strips of paper. Crumple them up and place them in a hat. Then pick out one at random. This is more effective than taking your car here. Avoid at all costs. read more

Nice guys. Took me late in the day at the last minute after one of my tires went flat. They got right to work and were very professional. They front desk guy tried to find me some discounts and automatically signed me up for a discount/customer card. Nice. I will go back for oil changes and maintenance, definitely. Ordered 4 tires from TireRack.com and was recommended this location for installation. It was also one of the most economical places for installation, disposal, balancing, and alignment. Extremely satisfied by the professional behavior from the front desk executive. They stood by their commitment. Dropped off vehicle at 9am and requested them to complete the job by noon. Got a call of completion within the promised time. Also, was recommended to change vipers given the winter was arriving - great suggestion! I will return for more services 5/5! read more

After a crazy morning on New Years Day, I brought my car to this location. With some luck, they were the only places open at 9am and immediately took my car in for an inspection. Our Mechanic, Joe, informed us that our car needed repair and guided us to the best possible solution so that we would not be ripped off. The rest of the staff was nice to us and offered us coffee while waiting for the next steps to continue with our day. read more

I am extremely satisfied with the service done today to my vehicle. Recently I stopped at a Subaru dealership for an oil change where I was told my brakes needed maintenance. I was charged a huge amount just to resurface the brake pads. Wanting a second opinion, I contacted the Pep Boys in Pine Brook who informed me that resurfacing is not recommended and I needed new brakes. All said and done, new brakes cost less than what the dealership was quoting me for resurfacing. But money aside, the service at Pep Boys was exceptional. Kelly was very knowledgable and informative. He had my best interest and the best interest for my car unlike the dealership that I felt was just trying to get my money. The work he did was great and my car is driving much better than when I dropped it off. I give this location 5 stars and would recommend this shop to friends and family. read more

I was here yesterday and Luis the asst manager was super helpful with getting me the new tires I brought from here and getting them on the car quick and easy,they showed me some issues that needed to be addressed and didn't have a problem when I didn't get the extra done here (DiY guy) . I came back today to have them fix my alignment .Luis wasn't here but in steps Sean the manager and doesn't drop a step with his customer service and after the alignment is done Orlando explained the process to me showed me the before and after measurements making me feel that VIP status . I noticed a slow leak in my tire as I was driving and needed it changed so I could get to work the next morning. I called pep boys just a half hour before they closed and I was surprised when they told me that I could bring it in right away and they would take care of it before they close. When I arrived, Q was extremely polite and helpful. He advised me that I needed another tire as well and was courteous enough to help with that as well. I feel he was extremely honest and super helpful with showing me every step of the way of what they were doing and explaining details to someone who doesn't know anything about tires or the process.
