Went in to have brakes repalced based upon report from another car service provider that could not do that work today because they were short staffed. The first shop told me that the brake pads were nearly gone. Went to this store, left the car, and within 25 minutes was called back, and told that they first did an inspection and found there was plenty of brake pad left, and no need for any service to the brake system at all. While the other store will be dealt with in a separate post, I want to thank the team at this store for their diligence, integrity, and professional manner. I took my car in for a routine oil change- the workers were friendly, inspected the cars and let me know about a few areas that might be a concern ( with no pressure from them). The price was fair- and they even helped me get a coupon for more savings. And they got it done in less than an hour. The workers know their stuff too- i asked for a quote for some work on my other car, and they gave me a price and walked me through what it was- and even mentioned a price special they had going on. My daughter is starting college in about a month, and she is going to be using a car that I've had for a long time, and I wanted to make sure that the brakes were working properly. I was mainly just looking for peace of mind as a dad. So I took in my 2014 Dodge Challenger and asked them to replace my brake pads, front and back. Eugene helped me out as always (I've been coming to this Pep Boys for years). When I got the call later that day, he said my brake pads were fine. Imagine my surprise when he said they still had 9mm of pad in the front and 8mm in the back. Usually don't replace them until they get down to 3 or 4mm, so they still have plenty of life. I had a very disappointing experience at this loca6. I arrived on time for my 8:30 appointment to get a battery check, but the manager Mike, didn't acknowledge me at all when I walked in. I was the only customer there, but he continued looking at his computer and eventually told me he had to take care of the other customers first--despite my appointment. Couldn't give no star so I had to put one star. I took my car for an oil change. Once I drove away the AC didn't work anymore. It wouldn't blow cold air. They said the oil change had nothing to do with the AC. But, thats weird because I never had that problem before the oil change. I took it back to get the AC fixed. I was going to pay for it but he said my car broke his AC machine and that I cost him money to get the machine fixed. Pretty weird that he said my car broke his machine but there was no way that they messed up the AC in the first place. So he said we cost him money to o fix him machine. But, he cost us more money to get the AC fixed somewhere else. I will never go back or recommend this pep boys. read more

Bought a set of tires a few months ago. They only lasted 26k vs the prorrated warranty at 40k. Tried to have them honor my warranty. They dismissed me because of uneven wear caused by not doing an alignment. Told the tech that I did do the alignment and I could get the receipt for them to honor my warranty. So issue was just a puncture to my tire. Came here to get price and wait time. There was one guy. Working on one car. I was told it's 22 dollars and that he would need my car for hours. For a tire change. They literally could have got me in and out in maybe 5 minutes. Instead they choose not to take care of little problems. Maybe it's due to one employee working. Maybe it's that he just didn't want to waste his time with a tire patch. Whatever the reason, I won't be doing any business here if I ever need anything. Zero stars really. Had an appointment at 11 for a simple tire rotation asked to come back at 2:30 which I did. It's now 3:32 and finally I see my car is being pulled into the shop for the work. I've been sitting in the lobby looking at my car parked in the same place and still not being worked on. I'm now standing outside to see if they are working on my car. They're not. It's now 3:38 and I see another car being pulled inside next to mine and techs are working on that car instead of mine! This place is a joke I'm never coming back here again. Now I'm being told they won't rotate my tires because of company policy because my front tires are more worn than the rear tires? Argh this place sucks You make an appointment to avoid waiting. Simple tire rotation should be in and out in 10 minutes. Wasted over a an hour of my time and now the work I've been waiting for isn't even being done. Never coming back here absolute joke of a business. And now "Derrick" the tech is yelling at me and telling me do I want to pull the car out myself?" Very aggressive and unprofessional as he pulled out looks at me again with a wry smile on his face and sarcastically said "ready to go". So they were able to fill up my transmission oil to the correct levelS and advices me to get the transmission checked out for any leek. Wowwwwwww.. I called them up to see about getting shocks installed on my truck and they said that labor alone would be $130 a shock. That's over $500 and that's with out tax. Then was told this is for the shocks and struts. Once again hmmm... don't think my truck has struts. I think something is wrong with this place. Haha. Also he asked me if my truck was rear wheel drive... unless I'm wrong I don't think I know of any trucks that are only front wheel drive. Update just called 4 wheel parts about installing shocks and they quoted me $37 a shock. Anddddd they are even offering half off the instal. read more

Came in for an oil change. And as usual they start to find other things wrong with the car. That's not the problem. The problem is that they said I needed a new axle on one of my wheels. And that the price would be $666. My cousin is a mechanic and he quoted me $295. That difference is just plain crooked. Not only that but I had taken another car here one week prior. They gave me a coupon for $10 off oil change and today they said there was no coupon After I denied the additional services. Found that was a little odd since I got the coupon every single time I came here. And i have come here alot for oil changes. If they were able to grant it then. Walked in and made an appointment with the manager for the next day for an oil change and to check the tires. Dropped off my car the next day and it was done an hour after my appointment time. My technician Hirotsune was amazing and did a full vehicle inspection. They checked the fluids and for any engine codes. They also checked all the tire pressures and my TPMS meter! They getting me to pay 960$ (the cost of rent) for brakes and rotor work, salesman told me i was getting "free labor" for my rotor work and cuz i paid labor on the brake pads,but the rotors would cost 250 for both axles, i went to autozone for the front and back axles, bought the whole brake pad and rotor set for only 167$, but the salesman thought i was too young n dumb to know any better, even offered me a "discount" of 80$ so id only be paying 880$, i dont mind paying somebody 100$ an hour for a trade skill they put tons of hours into learning, but when you try to scam me or use word play to trick me,you can eat a bag of dicks, bout all of the tools needed for only around, 260$, lesson of the day, just go on youtube n learn, i dont mind bashing a business who tries taking advantage of me based on how much i know ab a car read more

I have been going to Pep Boys for my automobile needs for years. I've never had a bad experience. I bring two cars (mine and my wife's) to this Pep Boys in Pomona because they will, without fail, provide me with excellent customer service, fair pricing, and excellent and timely repair on my cars. My most recent experience really tells the tale, though. My car had what I thought was a slow leak in one tire so I stopped in without appointment and spoke with Eugenio, the kind and knowledgeable front desk person. He suggested they take a look and it was much worse than I thought. The young man providing maintenance service (Gerardo) put my car on the lift and it revealed that all 4 of my tires were splitting apart at the seams! Gerardo informed Eugenio and I was off to the garage to survey the damage. Gerardo showed me what he found and suggested that these tires were not going to survive the month. He took special tire to point out the amount of damage to each tire and I knew it was time to purchase some tires. Eugenio and I went to the lobby to discuss my options. As you know, tires and installation aren't cheap but Eugenio worked with me and my limited budget and he found a way to offer me 4 tires along with an alignment, balance, installation, and a 50,000 mile warranty! It was a deal that I couldn't pass up. Additionally, I got a Pep Boys credit card and I have 6 months to pay this off without interest (which will be no problem). Well, my car drives perfectly now and I am so grateful to Eugenio and Gerardo for their knowledge and superior customer service. If any of you are looking for tires or other car service, do yourself a favor and pop into Pep Boys on Foothill Blvd. in Pomona. This place is top-notch and you deserve this kind of terrific service. I got a nail stuck in my tire. Called them this morning at 9am and they said they couldn't take my car in until 2pm earliest. I asked for a plug, they wouldn't do it and said they could do a patch. I got my car there and they thought I looked like someone they could take advantage of and said the tread was bad and legally couldn't patch my tire. But they were happy to try to upcharge me and offer me a 100 something dollar tire instead of just helping me. Good thing there is another tire place feet away that were super friendly and happy to patch my tire. First visit I ordered 4 tires, everything went smooth. I called same day and forgot a tire...went back for it two days later as I spoke with someone and they said they would hold it. When I went back the guy didn't mention it to his co workers and my semi new tire got thrown away. Second visit, I came for an oil change. After my oil change as I was heading home I heard a rattling sound that I have NEVER heard of before..I went back the same day and they seem to really not care so much of fixing the issue as they said there was none.
